00:00Hi, good morning. My name is Alastair Cameron, and I've recently taken over running the lit book Poppy Appeal.
00:06And it's very important, although I will say that because I have served in the military,
00:12I think it's very important for people to realise that whilst people would think that the Poppy Appeal is about the fallen and the wounded,
00:21actually what we mustn't forget is that also those families that have been affected by war,
00:27and the widows who have been left behind, and the children.
00:31And so when you're thinking about getting a Poppy this year, can you think about sort of the wider aspects of why the RBL and the Poppy Appeal has been set up?
00:41Remember those other people, as well as, of course, importantly, those who are serving,
00:46and those who sadly no longer are because of injury or bereavement. Thank you.
