00:00why not super bowl tell me why right now why not why i'll tell you why not i mean you guys
00:05between you guys the i say the colts and the broncos you guys are the three hottest teams in
00:10the league i was gonna ask that i mean i you know this team starts slow which uh whether that means
00:17giving up uh you know points on on the first drive previous games are uh starting a little
00:22bit slow but they seem to rally second second half and win these football games yeah whatever
00:28mike is telling me to have time it seems to be working whatever adjustments they're making
00:32uh drake may continues to amaze some of the things he's doing you know haven't been done for a really
00:37really really long time and i just looked at a couple of his statistics this morning throughout
00:42the season and you know 75 completion percentage and nine yards pass yards pass attempt that's the
00:50second player since 1970 with 75 and at least nine yards attempted passes in an eight game span within
00:57a season the last guy did that it was 2024 jared goff but the point being is that high percentages
01:04big yardage means that your quarterback's playing at an elite level and i don't necessarily know that
01:09there's another guy in the league playing quite as consistently and as elite as he has been playing
01:16the last five or six weeks boomer when you look at this football team drake may has been playing well
01:21but the past couple of weeks they've been able to run the football and uh what they you know did
01:25yesterday against a very good rushing defense in cleveland if they can continue that all season long
01:31how much easier does it make it for drake may well it's gonna make it a ton easier for him i wouldn't
01:36be surprised if they had a running back at the trade deadline here i would think that they would
01:39probably want another one but if they don't get one i think they're happy with what they have but
01:45hey man in this league especially when you play in the northeast and if you have home playoff games you
01:49have to be able to run the football i mean this goes all the way back to vince lombardi i mean that
01:54part of the game hasn't changed and that means you're winning the line of scrimmage and even
01:58though miles garrett did have five sacks yesterday and he's impossible to block uh the fact that they
02:04were able to score as many points as they did run the ball that effectively and drake may complete that
02:09many passes and have that kind of percentage you know that just goes to show you that when there is
02:13a weakness in their game they can overcome it and win it time to get this week's drake take from
02:18boomer which is brought to you by your new england chevy dealers together let's drive not to be
02:23nitpicky but what did you see on the interception oh come on oh come on is that what we're talking
02:30about we're not talking about negative anymore around here okay positive radio program this is all
02:36about winning football i am not breaking down interceptions all right i mean i want to talk about
02:41touchdowns i want to talk about running plays i want to talk about uh you know a five-game winning
02:46streak all right well then the drake take can be that there were there were pretty loud mvp chants
02:51here at jillette stadium yes and rightfully so halfway through the season i just gave you all of these
02:56different statistics he's also the fifth quarterback in nfl history with 200 or more pass yards and 100
03:02or more or higher passer rating in seven straight games within the season patrick mahomes payton manning
03:08tom brady and aaron rogers are the only other four quarterbacks that have ever done that and he's
03:14also i mean when you think about all of this stuff that he is doing i mean all these quarterbacks that
03:20he is now you know either eclipsing or playing as such uh all these quarterbacks roethlisberger
03:26warner and marino all made it to the super bowl that's how good he is playing right now boomer when you look
03:33at uh miles garrett in particular you bring up his five sacks but drake got sacked six times to be
03:38that young of a quarterback and still come away with the numbers that he did how impressive is
03:42that to get hit over and over again and still be able to get to perform hey you know what i would
03:46say to the kid get rid of the ball kid i mean especially when you're playing a guy like that um
03:52to me it reminds me of playing bruce smith uh reggie white uh back in the day when i was playing
03:57my friend frank reich who was the coach of indianapolis colts for about six years there
04:02i asked him who uh miles garrett reminded him of and he goes absolutely 100 bruce smith meaning that
04:08it's impossible to stop him unless you're chipping him putting an extra tight end over there you got
04:13to help your tackles and um he is so dynamic and he you know he just once again just showed why he's
04:20probably going to be defensive player of the year once again i mean playing on such a poor team like
04:26that has got to be so frustrating for a guy like him and i know last year he was talking about you
04:31know wanting out of cleveland and they kind of bought his silence by giving him that used huge
04:36contract but i'm i'm telling you when you see a guy like that on the field i mean he legitimately uh
04:42is a one-man wrecking uh wrecking crew and he's certainly living up to the money that they're paying
04:47him boomer where would you put the rehiring of josh mcdaniels as offensive coordinator in sort
04:54of the pecking order of reasons why this offense and drake may look the way they do so go back to
04:58week one before the season started i thought that they were going to be a playoff team i thought they
05:02spent enough money in free agency to get the right players especially on defense
05:07but the second most important important hire behind mike vrabel was the offensive coordinator
05:12of josh mcdaniels you know josh is like the quarterback whisperer he may not be a great head coach
05:17but i'll tell you one thing when he has a quarterback that actually cares about the game and wants to
05:22prepare and wants to understand their offense much like he had with tom brady for 20 years or how many
05:27years it was it goes to show you just the impact that he can have on a player like drake may you
05:32know it's interesting i had a couple uh people call me this week and talking to me about college
05:37quarterbacks and one in particular wants me to talk to a kid that will be coming out in the draft this
05:43year and my advice to a kid that is coming out into the draft and is an nfl caliber quarterback is
05:50simply this all the nfl teams want you to be a kid that cares about the game of football they don't
05:57care about all the off off off field stuff they don't care about the bling they don't care about
06:02uh you know your brand they don't care about any of that crap they want you to be under the radar
06:07they want you to be quiet but they want you to be a leader in the building and they want you to
06:11love the game of football drake may is the absolute 100 poster boy for that part of it
06:18shador sanders is the absolute perfect uh example and poster boy for the other side of it
06:24and that's why shador hasn't seen the field yet and this is why drake has gotten to the point where
06:29he's playing maybe some of the best football of anybody in the nfl right now at his position
06:34boomer the the area that i think this patriots is really doing well at is the wide receiver group and
06:40they're doing it by receiver by committee what what's that like from a quarterback standpoint when
06:47week in and week out your number one target can change well that's the best part about uh
06:53um josh's offense you know uh when you think about steph diggs okay he's supposed to be
06:58wide receiver one well all right he got a touchdown yesterday it was great uh and that was his first
07:04touchdown for i think i about a year i think so uh and then when you have keishon boudet you know all
07:10you have a intermix of players and hunter henry plays a big part in all of this too because i think
07:15like any good quarterback everybody should be available on every play and i remember
07:20when i took over my last year in cincinnati i sat down with my wide receiver core and i said guys
07:24look just because the play may be called to you doesn't mean you're getting the ball everybody
07:29else has to run part of the concept and when you run part of the concept the defense is going to lead
07:34me to where i want to throw it so that means that uh drake may is reading defenses he's seeing defenses
07:41uh josh mcdaniels is giving him a plan where he doesn't have to go to like say steph diggs every
07:46play he can actually spread it around so everybody's got a little bit of skin in the game i would think
07:51that it's a very happy wide receiver room now if this were like five years ago steph diggs would
07:56probably not be totally happy but the fact that they're winning he's a part of it um i think will
08:02probably uh motivate him to become even better of a player here in the second half of the season
08:07question of the week for boomer is brought to you by mcfarland energy the region's most dependable
08:12provider of home heating oil delivery and expert hvac services at mcfarlandenergy.com did the ravens
08:20lie on the injury report or were they trying to pressure lamar to play boomer that's a really good
08:25question and i don't have an answer for that i don't even want to speculate because you know coaches
08:30and teams play games all the time with these injury reports i mean you had one of the very very
08:36best up there in new england for about 20 years that played this game with everybody so i you know
08:42john harbaugh i'm not saying he's above reproach uh that he wouldn't play games with this but if if
08:48lamar does not play this thursday night against the miami dolphins i think we could reflect back on this
08:54that they were playing with the bears and there probably will be a fine if in fact they do find that
08:59they were messing around with the injured list so um i wouldn't put it past any coach but then again
09:04i'm not going to sit here and say that you know every coach has got to be perfect and above board
09:09everybody's looking for an edge in the nfl yeah boomer kind of uh nfl adjacent you had comments
09:14on the boomer and geo show on the fan last week that went viral regarding the potential demise of
09:20sports league should fans not believe the games are on the level i'm just curious as to if you think
09:27this nba investigation will go further and is there any part of you that watches these games differently
09:34knowing about this uh alleged gambling ring that was going on for the last couple years you know
09:38that's one of the more disappointing stories that have come out and the fact that this thing has
09:42been under investigation for over two and a half years uh really makes me wonder how many people
09:48deep are you know is this and by the way i did see tim donahy the disgraced former official of the nba
09:53say that there's a lot more to this than just you know poker games and a guy like terry rozier throwing games
10:00and i i don't care what anybody says i'm a fan as much as i am an ex-player and i want to make sure
10:06that whatever i'm doing and watching a game that it's credible and the integrity is above board and
10:11that's why these commissioners have to protect these leagues shields so i i just hope that um they put the
10:18hammer down on this i hope if there are any other players that are involved in this that they are made
10:22an example of because we can't have this uh when it comes to our professional sports leagues the other
10:28thing i would worry about too guys is uh college sports you know and you talk about guys getting
10:33in compromised situations and positions where they don't have the money to pay back any bets that they
10:39may be losing depending on what they're betting on and that's when it really starts to turn and that's
10:44when things really start getting ugly so i think that's the thing that cash patel and the fbi and
10:49everybody else are still trying to figure out and i do believe that they will be very aggressive here
10:54speaking of college negotiations ongoing but brian kelly's out do you want that job no no way oh my
11:01god i mean not surprising though i mean i mean you guys surprised by anything that happens in college
11:06football these days no no well i'm surprised how bad bc is but that's quite a nice problem
11:11and boomers oh that's right uh boomer the jets get a win is it the turning point of the season for
11:17these guys the turning point okay i was actually at this game yesterday in cincinnati
11:22and uh when i was leaving uh in the middle of the fourth quarter the bingles had this nice lead but
11:27the bingles defense had fallen apart because trey hendrickson uh got hurt in the first half and didn't
11:33come back in the second half and all of a sudden the jets started running the ball and when they
11:37started running the ball and controlling the line of scrimmage i was like uh oh man this could be their
11:41first win and i was sitting with the former bingo great willie anderson and he goes i think the jets are
11:45gonna win let's get the hell out of here then we gotta go they make you they make you pay for your
11:52own hot dog and beer out there or how did that how did it go all right so here here's how it all went
11:58so i know that on social media cory dillans bitching and complaining about the bingles i don't know if
12:03you've seen this so he was supposed to be in he missed his flight for some reason in la i have no idea
12:08why uh my everything for me was 100 the way it should have been it was uh i was very very pleased
12:16with the way the bingles went about that they were very professional and willie anderson isaac
12:21curtis ken riley all these bingo grades came up to me and said thank you for you know saying something
12:28about six weeks ago about some of the misgivings of the bingles and how they treat some of their ex
12:33players every single one of them had a great weekend as did i what happened with cory dillon
12:38i have no idea and i really feel bad because he he torched the bingles on social media and i
12:44don't necessarily know that that was fair all right but you didn't have to take a greyhound back
12:48no no no they took great care of me man they you would have thought i won five super bowls for them
12:54that's how well they took care of me do you ever mutter to yourself how am i not on a pre-game
12:59show anymore and terry bradshaw still is oh geez oh no you know what i don't i i retired two years
13:05ago and i am happy you saw me here last wednesday and i was like i'm i'm bouncing off the walls
13:10around here i got so much energy yeah i actually waited about an hour and a half for you to come
13:15out afterwards because we were having lunch and i did you go out the back door or what like what
13:19happened dude i go out the back door i knew it i was sitting out and i had a golf game that day i'm
13:26sorry i'm sorry i was sitting out there's a nice uh faux fireplace out in the uh out in the lobby
13:31there at wfan we don't have a fireplace here at wei but sat out there for a good hour and a half
13:36i'm like oh well i guess maybe boomer left we'll have lunch next year oh my god you know what i
13:41you know what but i got when i got that early call for the golf game that afternoon i completely forgot
13:46about everything else so that's my apologies really honestly you'll get a nice christmas gift
