00:00This is Samsung and Google's new mixed reality headset, the Galaxy XR.
00:05It's a big attempt to drum up interest around a product category that has so far failed to resonate with users.
00:12The Galaxy XR closely resembles Apple's Vision Pro headset, but is half the price at $17.99.
00:19The company is also trying to solve for comfort.
00:22Usually after 30 minutes of wearing a headset, I'm ready to rip them off.
00:26But during a recent demo, the Galaxy XR was noticeably lighter and more comfortable.
00:31The big differentiator is AI.
00:34Google's AI model Gemini is built right in, so you can ask it direct questions or circle to search for information, like an actor's face while watching a movie.
00:44The headset comes with a high-resolution 4K OLED display for each eye.
00:49And like the Vision Pro, you can see the outside world with the help of a pass-through camera or choose to be fully immersed in virtual environments when playing games or watching video.
01:00The interface looks like a smartphone home screen, and the battery pack is tethered, so it needs to sit on a surface nearby.
01:07There's a bunch of original content, like a space experience called Cosmos, and it's the only headset with a Netflix app.
01:13It's also a fun way to explore Google Maps and Street View.
