00:00Federal prosecutors have charged Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and Portland Trailblazers
00:03head coach Chauncey Billups in two separate criminal cases that expose how insider betting
00:08and organized crime have penetrated professional basketball. Rozier is accused of telling a friend
00:14in 2023 that he planned to pull himself from a game early with a minor injury. That friend
00:19wagered more than $200,000 that Rozier would fall short of his usual point total. Rozier left the
00:26game after nine minutes. And by the next morning, prosecutors say the two were counting their
00:30winnings together in his home. Billups is charged in a separate case involving rigged high stakes
00:36poker games that federal prosecutors say were backed by four of New York's five mafia families.
