00:00The leagues are taking several different approaches to dealing with these emerging
00:03alleged gambling scandals. The one that's getting the most press recently is to address
00:08prop betting, propositional bets. So these are bets not on games, game outcomes, but they're
00:14bets on specific events within a game. How many free throws somebody will get, how many minutes
00:19someone will play, how many rebounds, what kind of speed a pitch will be at. There's increasing
00:25talk about banning some, if not all of these kinds of propositional bets. There's a lot
00:31of controversy around that too, because there's a fear that if you do ban these, that the bets
00:35will then go from legal sports books to illegal sports books, and we may have made the problem
00:41worse rather than making it better. The second approach, and we're going to see more of this
00:45in coming weeks, months, and years, is there's going to be tighter control on how information
00:50around injuries is reported. So one of the problems that we've seen in these emerged
00:55alleged scandals is players taking advantage of information about injuries that isn't circulated
01:01to the public, letting gamblers know about it allegedly, and those gamblers are then allegedly
01:05able to bet on that. The leagues, especially the NBA, is looking at how better to control
01:11this information so that it isn't leaked out and given to pro gamblers.
