विधि और न्याय मंत्रालय ने चीफ जस्टिस बीआर गवई को पत्र लिख कर अपने उत्तराधिकारी के नाम की सिफारिश करने का आग्रह किया है. अगले महीने 23 नवंबर को चीफ जस्टिस गवई रिटायर हो रहे हैं. जस्टिस सूर्यकांत परंपरा और वरिष्ठता क्रम के मुताबिक अगले यानी देश के 53 वें चीफ जस्टिस होंगे.जस्टिस सूर्यकांत 24 नवंबर को अपना पद भार संभालने के लिए शपथ लेंगे. कानून की बारीकियों पर उनकी गहरी पकड़ और मानवीय दृष्टिकोण के चलते वे हर उस मामले में चर्चा में रहे, . चाहे मामला हो धार्मिक भावनाओं का, महिला सुरक्षा का या अभिव्यक्ति की आजादी का हो जस्टिस सूर्यकांत की टिप्पणी हमेशा सीधी, सटीक और न्याय की मूल भावना को सामने रखती रही
The Ministry of Law and Justice has written to Chief Justice B.R. Gavai, requesting him to recommend his successor. Gavai is retiring on November 23rd next month.
