00:17problem. We'll straighten that out in about two weeks. It'll take us two weeks easier than D.C.
00:21Trump made the announcement as he hosted the Republic of Poland's president in the Oval
00:26office on Wednesday. He shared the update after leaders in Illinois discouraged Trump from
00:31deploying the National Guard to Chicago. He said Louisiana's Governor Jeff Landry, a Republican
00:37who Trump endorsed for the seat, requested the federal government's help to address crime in
00:42the Pelican state. According to the New Orleans Police Department, murders in the city dropped
00:46from the record high of 266 in 2022 to 124 in 2024. This year, the city is on track for its
00:56safest year in five decades. Police have reported just 73 murders as of August 30th. The declining
01:02crime rate and the city's experience with National Guard troops patrolling the street after Hurricane
01:08Katrina 20 years ago prompted mayoral candidates to speak out against Trump's plans. Royce Duplice's
01:15currently a state senator wrote on Facebook, quote, history has shown us that federal troop deployments
01:20do not solve crime. They only create tension, chaos and distrust. As for Trump, the president
01:26said he is now opting for city leaders and governors to reach out to the White House for federal help
01:32policing streets and reducing crime. The people in Chicago, the people in Baltimore, the people in
01:38all of the places we talk about, they want to see us there. And I think we're pretty much waiting till
