00:00Five police officers were shot, three of them killed, while serving a warrant in Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
00:08The two other officers are in critical but stable condition as of this recording,
00:12as the state's governor calls on the community to honor the fallen officers.
00:20Officials held a press conference confirming the loss of life out of York County, Pennsylvania,
00:25about 100 miles west of Philadelphia.
00:28The suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to authorities.
00:34Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro took the moment to offer condolences and say the violence needs to stop.
00:41I think it is important that this Commonwealth knows that every day we appreciate those who put on the uniform and those who keep us safe.
00:52I just think as a community, it's time for us to work hard to heal from this.
00:58And to make sure that those whose lives were lost today,
01:04it's something constructive can come from that in their memory that stops this kind of violence in the future.
01:10Shapiro went on to say there needs to be better protections for officers and more mental health intervention.
01:17A few months ago, the same police department in Pennsylvania lost another law enforcement officer in a shooting in the line of duty.
01:26Attorney General Pam Bondi posted this on X in response.
01:31Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable.
