00:00Today on Media Miss Minute, Democrats have blocked a defense spending bill that would allow military service members to get paid during the government shutdown.
00:08And a crowd of 700, but not a single witness, the latest on a deadly mass shooting in South Carolina.
00:18I'm Craig DeGrelli. Here on Media Miss Minute, we look at two stories largely ignored by partisan media outlets, starting today with a story being missed by the left.
00:27Democrats have blocked a GOP-backed defense spending bill aimed at funding military personnel during the government shutdown.
00:35Thursday's vote of 50 to 44, falling well under the 60 votes required to move forward.
00:41Only three Democrats voted in favor of the bill.
00:44The rest said they would not back the standalone defense measure without more comprehensive guarantees on long-term government funding.
00:51Now to a story being missed by the right.
00:53Roughly 700 people were there when a mass shooting took place at a South Carolina bar, leaving four dead and 16 injured.
01:01But authorities say they do not have any witnesses.
01:04They say the shooting happened after a dispute between a small group that escalated into a melee, then gunshots.
01:11The sheriff there says the lack of witness cooperation is hampering the investigation.
01:15He believes many who were present may be scared to speak up for fear of retaliation.
