00:00The Giants just took the 2025 Snoopy Bowl here at MetLife Stadium
00:04representing Blue Rush, Brandon London, representing the Gangs All Here podcast,
00:10Frankie Viterini.
00:11Frankie, let's get our key takeaways, man.
00:13We'll go blow for blow when it comes to this.
00:15I'm sure you got a lot to talk about from things on the Jets' side.
00:18I think the first thing that stood out to me is forget Colin Coward
00:22and a lot of the people in the national media.
00:24There's no quarterback one competition.
00:27Russell Wilson is this team's quarterback one going into week one
00:32against the Commanders.
00:33His two preseason drives, or the first two preseason drives,
00:38obviously he goes down the field, gets a field goal against the Buffalo Bills,
00:43and now against the Jets, goes down the field, one ball, a moon ball,
00:49a delicious moon ball to Bo Collins.
00:53They score on that opening drive.
00:55Russell Wilson looked great today.
00:57He did throw the interception, but from my standpoint where I was standing
01:01on the field, that was more on the young receiver.
01:04He's got to kind of take a better angle on that post,
01:07but Russ threw up that first deep ball for him, right,
01:11and he threw up another one for him.
01:14That means that he is comfortable with a guy like Bo Collins.
01:18Obviously, Malik Nabors didn't play.
01:20Darius Slayton didn't play.
01:21Jalen Hyatt got involved.
01:22You see Russell Wilson pushing the football to him as well.
01:25We're finally able to evaluate the Giants passing game, and I know it's preseason,
01:32but there are a lot of people excited about that around here.
01:34Well, let me say this.
01:36Russell Wilson looked good, but Jackson Dart also looked good,
01:39and I think that's something Giants fans need to realize and appreciate.
01:43That pick right there is looking pretty good right now.
01:45I wouldn't start him.
01:47I wouldn't start him week one.
01:48I'd give him some time, but, Brandon, where we may have an issue on our side with the Jets
01:54is Justin Fields did not look good today passing the football.
01:58One of five, only four passing yards.
02:01Now I'm not going to go crazy about a preseason stat line, but it's not accurate.
02:07Garrett Wilson has yet to get a ball from Justin Fields.
02:10I wanted him to play a little bit more tonight, and after a few drives they took him out,
02:16whereas your guy, Russell Wilson, stayed in.
02:19It's a little bit concerning what I've seen from Fields in the passing department today
02:24and in preseason overall.
02:25Yeah, it's a little bit unfortunate as well because I think Fields had a solid week
02:30when it came to the joint practices.
02:32I know there was that viral video out of him throwing the ball into the ground, throwing it high.
02:37Now he does throw his wide receivers high.
02:39I've seen that, but at the same time, it's hard to evaluate this guy sometimes
02:43when we talk about being a traditional dropback quarterback,
02:46and we talked about how Tanner Inkstrand just came from Jared Goff.
02:50Now he has a dual threat.
02:52Tanner Inkstrand kind of has his hands tied right now trying to figure out,
02:56how do I get the best out of this kid?
02:58And it's hard because he doesn't have the groceries that he needs in terms of wide receiver too
03:03outside of Garrett Wilson.
03:04But we're going to see how that kind of plays out,
03:07or at least you guys are going to see how that plays out.
03:09But as of right now, Justin Fields, what grade would you give him for the reports that you've heard?
03:17And now you saw him live today in a game-like situation.
03:20What grade would you give him?
03:21I'd give him a C-plus thus far.
03:25Not going to go anything lower because Justin Fields is who we expected Justin Fields to be.
03:30You saw the first passing player of the game today was a little four-yarder out to Mason Taylor.
03:34He used his legs, had a nice little rush, looked good that first drive last week.
03:40He's got something, but he's got to get better.
03:42And just like you said, Tanner Inkstrand coming from that Detroit system that had a Jared Goff,
03:47who's pretty much the opposite kind of quarterback that Justin Fields is,
03:51timing and staying from the confines of the pocket is going to be something Justin Fields has to work on,
03:58or else he's going to look like he did today.
04:00I'm going to show a little love to Jackson Dart here.
04:02I think Jackson Dart is going to be the QB2 week one against the commanders.
04:07They continue to throw things at him.
04:09You saw today they took him out of the game, threw Russ in,
04:12and then threw him right back in there to kind of try and emulate what a game could be.
04:18Hey, youngster, we traded up for you.
04:20We traded up to go get you in the first round.
04:22We're going to give you every opportunity to make this team as the QB2.
04:27Jameis was just chilling.
04:29Jameis just has to chill.
04:30It's almost on like the rookie has to – Jameis knows that if the rookie goes out
04:35and takes his job as a QB2, then it is what it is.
04:39He'll be the QB3 on this team.
04:41But they're giving Jackson Dart the chances to make this team as the QB2,
04:45and he is doing a great job.
04:46He had a drive where he was 100% on all his passes.
04:50I think he went like six for six, and they were able to score on that.
04:53We haven't seen that type of competent and consistent quarterback play here at MetLife Stadium
04:59on our side in quite some time.
05:02My next takeaway – and we talked about the quarterbacks a lot.
05:05So my next takeaway was, was the Giants defense going to be able to stop the run?
05:10Throughout the course of the week, Braylon Hall, Brees Allen – I mean, Braylon Allen,
05:16Brees Hall had a couple nice runs against the Giants defense,
05:20and that was something that was their Achilles heel last year.
05:23Guys weren't able to get the sacks they wanted because it would be third and shorts.
05:27I think they did a solid job overall, both the ones and the twos,
05:32and that's without Dexter Lawrence.
05:34So that was a takeaway as well for me to see the Giants defense, run defense,
05:39something that Shane Bowen has been preaching, kind of step up.
05:43Again, it's preseason, but it's still good to see going into a short week
05:48and another preseason game next week.
05:50Well, I want to give a shout-out to Stone Smart, who put your boy, Abdul Carter, on his ass.
05:57You saw that?
05:57I'm just going to say, welcome to the NFL.
05:59Welcome to the NFL, man.
06:01But, no, back to your original point, Brandon.
06:04The running game for the Jets is going to be everything.
06:06That read option with Justin Fields, Braylon Allen, and Brees Hall
06:11is going to dictate what this offense looks like and how many points they can put up.
06:16They were asking me before.
06:18You were asking me.
06:19How many games do you think the Jets are going to win?
06:21I don't know because I want to know how much we're going to run the ball
06:24and what that running game looks like.
06:26I don't think this passing offense is going to be a high-volume product.
06:31They're not going to be able to put up 28 points.
06:33Top what?
06:34Top what in terms of that passing offense?
06:36Passing offense will not be top 20.
06:39But the running offense, I think, could be top 10 and should be top 5, Brandon.
06:44You have Justin Fields, who's got the second most rushing yards in NFL history in a season.
06:49First most rushing yards in a game for a quarterback.
06:52You've got to get that read option rolling.
06:54I could see Braylon Allen having a huge role in this offense.
06:57And to the offense today, I like what I saw from Tanner Engstrand again.
07:02I was very impressed last week because we were scoring points.
07:05He's still creative.
07:07It still was good today.
07:08They just weren't able to get the ball in their playmaker's hands.
07:11You said that they're not going to have a top 20 passing offense, a top 5 rushing offense.
07:18You know who I feel for when you say that?
07:22Garrett Wilson, man.
07:23This guy can't catch a break at all.
07:26He can catch the football, but he can't catch the break at all in terms of getting him a quarterback to where they can just sling that thing.
07:33You get a pass here.
07:34You get a pass here.
07:35You get a pass there.
07:37Hey, G5, we dapped up before during warm-ups.
07:41Hey, bro, big fan of you.
07:43Keep your head in it, man, because I think that's something to look at.
07:46His demeanor, his attitude throughout the course of the year.
07:48Yeah, he signed and got the bag, and they want more leadership from him, but at the end of the day, as receivers, we're only as good as the guy that's throwing us the football.
07:59So hopefully that works out for y'all's sake of things, but we got our own side, our own quarterback wide receiver connection chemistry that we got to worry about on this side.
08:12Malik Nabors didn't play.
08:13Obviously, Sauce Gardner didn't play.
08:15We wanted to see that, but I can see and I understand why both head coaches shut down their star corner and their star wide receiver.
08:23My last and final takeaway.
08:26Frank, you were an offensive lineman, right?
08:28Yeah, I said D-line both.
08:30I was both.
08:31I was a D-line.
08:32I was a D-line man first and foremost.
08:34When the Hogs and the offensive line is playing well, everyone gets evaluated.
08:41The Giants were able to run the football today consistently.
08:46Russell Wilson was able to have time to throw a moon ball, two moon balls, one pick, one deep game, one 80-yard game.
08:53Jackson Dart was able to be comfortable back there.
08:56And again, it's not preseason, not too many blitzes, and if it is a blitz, it's super vanilla.
09:02So we're not saying like, oh, this Giants offense is clicking on all cylinders right now.
09:07We just got to see good offensive football, and we got to evaluate.
09:14The offensive line, I feel as though had one of their best preseason performances of all time.
09:21And if they can keep whatever quarterbacks back there, Dart, Wilson, Jameis, doesn't matter, you, me, doesn't matter who's back there.
09:31If they can keep a clean pocket consistently, then we can evaluate the Giants offense.
09:39And here's why, Frankie, before I give it back up to you.
09:43You saw the Giants were coming out.
09:44They were on the negative one yard line.
09:46They ran a play action and threw a rust-completed-a-ball to Jalen Hyatt.
09:55Remember the days where the Giants offense used to run QB sneaks from the minus one?
10:03Now they're running play action, back turn to the defense, and Russell Wilson was able to connect on a nice hinge route to Jalen Hyatt on the right side.
10:14But you don't call that, you don't complete that, unless you have confidence in the offensive line, and they execute.
10:24So we'll still see Andrew Thomas obviously has to get healthy, got to get him back out there.
10:30But just like how you guys got Jermaine Johnson off the PUP, and that bolstered the defense, once the Giants get Andrew Thomas off the PUP, that's going to make the offensive line better.
10:41But right now, I got my Robin Hood app on my phone.
10:45The Giants' offensive line is trending in the right direction.
10:49My man, finish this off.
10:51What was your last takeaway?
10:52All right, last take is this.
10:54Staying on the offensive line point, the Jets have arguably one of the most athletic offensive lines in the NFL.
11:04And with the upside, with what we've done, three first-round picks on that line, John Simpson having a big year,
11:09Joe Titman needs to get better but still is a very good center in this league.
11:14The Jets have to depend on that offensive line.
11:17And that is the key unit, Brandon, for us to rebuild off of because, like you just said, if you have time and your quarterback can buy you a little more time, you got a lot of time back there.
11:28So that offensive line for the Jets is going to get better.
11:31The Giants, these joint practices, showed how, you know, we still have to work on things and how good they are.
11:38We can get better, and as they get better, you're going to see the offense and Justin Fields do a little bit more.
11:43So don't be alarmed, Jeff fans.
11:45Things will, I think, get better.
11:47I like the O.C., and we'll see where things go.
11:50All right, we're wrapping things up here at the Snoopy Bowl for the Gangs are here and Blue Rush.
11:55Absolutely love the connection.
11:56Hey, it's all about New York football because right now the Mets and Yankees are absolutely horrible.
12:02It's all about the Jets and Giants to save the city.
12:05Doesn't matter if you wear green or you bleed blue.
12:08It's all about New York football right now for Frankie Vitterini, for Brandon London.
12:13Thanks for checking out and hanging out with us.
12:15We'll see you guys next week.
