Leaders of both Malaysia and the United States held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Asean Summit and related summits in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (Oct 26).

The meeting also saw both sides signing the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade between the two countries, including a commitment by the US to maintain a 19% tariff rate for Malaysian goods into the US.

Malaysia has also committed to refraining from banning, or imposing quotas on, exports to the US of critical minerals or rare earth elements.
