Sussex World correspondent Sam Morton gives his view on Brighton's 3-1 comeback win at Chelsea
Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm Sam Morton, reporter for Sussex World.
00:03I've just watched Brighton beat Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.
00:07It was a brilliant comeback victory for Brighton,
00:09who were not very good in the first half, it's got to be said.
00:12Chelsea were dominant and deserved to be ahead
00:15through Enzo Fernandes' header after 24 minutes.
00:18But a red card at the start of the second half absolutely changed the game.
00:21It was Trevor Chaliba who brought Diego Gomez down on the edge of the box,
00:25somehow not seen in real time, and VAR was needed to intervene.
00:29And Simon Hooper, the referee, was told to check his pit side monitor
00:32and he gave Chaliba his marching orders.
00:36Diego Gomez was destined to score when that foul happened
00:40and he put his free kick over the bar.
00:42But you felt that from then on, Brighton were the more likely team to go on
00:46and probably win it, and that's what happened.
00:48And it was Danny Welbeck that came on to score the equaliser.
00:52It was a brilliant header from Yankouba Mintz's cross.
00:54And then it was Maxime de Kuiper, another substitute, that scored for 2-1.
01:00And he was only on the pitch a matter of minutes before getting that goal.
01:04And it was a lovely in-swinging cross from Yassin Uyari,
01:08the Matsuifa, headed back across goal and nodded in by de Kuiper.
01:12And Brighton weren't done there.
01:13Welbeck again with a sensational kind of finish into the top left corner.
01:18It was a bit like his goal against Newcastle in the FA Cup last season.
01:23A proper striker's goal once again.
01:25And he's just showing that he's just a timeless striker
01:26that can still keep scoring goals at the top level.
01:32And it was a brilliant comeback for Brighton again.
01:35And just excellent to see.
01:37And once again, three wins in a row now against Chelsea.
01:40They really know how to beat Chelsea,
01:42despite obviously the Blues having four former Albion players in the team.
01:46Shao Pedro up front, started for the first time against Brighton.
01:49And there's definitely no love lost there between the fans
01:53who gave them a bit of a hard time as well
01:55with some other former players in Cucurea,
01:57Kai Sado and Rob Sanchez.
01:59So a brilliant afternoon for Brighton,
02:01who will absolutely love getting another one over their modern-day rivals.
