00:00After a big success with the Croods, congratulations by the way, you have created Vivo with an amazing team.
00:13It's been a long process. How do you feel now that it's almost out?
00:18We're really, you know, we are super excited to bring this, because this is something that Lin-Manuel Miranda started writing over 10 years ago.
00:25So it's a really a baby. And I was like almost a steward, sort of just a protector.
00:31I was sort of in a way like Vivo, kind of carrying these songs, you know, to the audience.
00:37And I felt like, you know, watching the way our artists, what it meant to them, how much love they poured into the film.
00:46We're all very excited that it's coming out on Netflix and that everyone can watch it.
00:50You know, safety of the house during the summer with their family, friends.
00:54We're, you know, we can't wait, actually.
00:57And Vivo is an explosion, actually, about colors and life and reed.
01:03It's been a beautiful journey. How do you think people can relate with the characters?
01:08Oh, I think it's, you know, we, when we started in 2016, I had one opinion.
01:13But after going through the pandemic and the lockdown, I feel it's such, it's so nice to be able to bring this.
01:19Because we always wanted to be a transportive, it deals with some heavy issues.
01:23I mean, it's a man, you know, he's, Vivo's going through grief.
01:26It deals with some heavy issues.
01:28It's not light, but in the celebration of the locations and the world and the cultures, it brings light and happiness to Vivo and, I hope, to our audience.
01:39Yeah. In fact, the story reminds me of the old classics that I grew up.
01:45Funny, with brave messages, but also real life inside.
01:50So, did you take the inspiration from anything in particular?
01:55I don't think you mean, Il Adoro di Biciclete.
01:59I'm sure you're talking about, like, Chinua Paradiso.
02:02So, I'm sure that, yeah, I love Chinua Paradiso.
02:06I think it's actually one of the most perfect films ever made.
02:09You know what I mean?
02:09Wow.
02:10I really do.
02:11I mean, we always said, and I know it's all, but the kissing reel is our little, the nod of Andres at the end to Vivo is my little homage to that moment.
02:25Like, that's, you know, that was, that's the kind of movie, and it has that sort of, there's a sadness too.
02:32It has that emotional core that, at the, at the base, inside.
02:37But, like those movies, the lightness of what you bring with a child, with an old man, that bring around it, is that you can show movies to kids, and they can understand and feel it.
02:51But, at the same time, it's not heavy.
02:53It's still there, but it's got, it's about something, which is why I love those movies, but.
02:58And the idea of the, the title, how the idea of the title came out with, you know, with a name like Vivo, you have a great responsibility.
03:08Yeah, I know.
03:09Well, I, that was, that was there from the very beginning, you know, and that was the wonderful thing.
03:14It's just, you know, about life, and it was, I live, he just had that force, and he had that energy.
03:18And I think, in a lot of ways, I think it's the, what Lin embodies, you know, it's that, it's the energy you see that makes all that, brings all that art into the world.
03:28It's, there's a loving energy to just make art, which I love, you know, which I'm crazy about.
