00:00Well I started at Pixar originally in 2003 as an intern in the story department and it was exactly that I just kept kept going up kind of through the ranks became a story artist was storyboarded on a bunch of films and then on Inside Out I became the head of story and a writer on that film and after Inside Out I was offered the role to direct Toy Story 4 that was five years ago oh man it was surreal you know it's Toy Story
00:29and so to even be asked is it's intimidating and I love these characters and I love watching these films as an audience member before even working at Pixar so it's just a lot of pressure but I never thought of not doing it I just I love the characters so much I mean it's a lot of work we knew that you know Toy Story 3 had ended so beautifully that it was a big deal to take on another film and so we put a lot of time and effort into making sure that it was a
00:59story that was worthy because we wanted it to be emotional and wanted it to feel new Woody's learned a lot of things over the first three films this again is Woody's film and so we wanted to find the right path for him and the right kind of journey of discovery
01:13and and but we we feel great about the way that it ended up you go down a lot of roads to try to build something like this and it was four or five years that we were making it but but we're very pleased to finally be kind of at the finish line
01:26it is it's a movie about moving forward moving on a little bit and I think we discovered as we were playing around with the idea of Woody's next chapter like to really to really make it to make the story work yet we had to go further than even we thought you know so it does feel like I mean we were saying that if this were the last one we would be satisfied with that story it feels like it's a complete arc
