00:10Around 27% of people globally say they don't feel safe walking alone after dark
00:16and in Europe the lowest sense of safety exists in Italy.
00:21Only 60% of Italians say they feel safe walking alone at night,
00:26the lowest rate in Europe and the 95th in the world.
00:30That's less than war-torn Ukraine for countries like Nicaragua, Niger and Bangladesh.
00:37France fared slightly better than Italy, yet its safety perception was lower than that of Iraq and Rwanda.
00:45Only one European country made it into the world's top 10,
00:50Norway with 91%, Denmark and Kosovo both with 89% are the second highest ranking European countries.
00:59Globally, the Asia-Pacific region feels safest, followed by Western Europe and the Middle East and North Africa.
01:06But the report also highlights a stark gender gap.
01:1032% of women say they don't feel safe compared to 21% of men.
01:16Here, the EU stands out in a negative light, making up 5 of the 10 countries with the largest gender gaps.
