00:00U.S. President Donald Trump says he expects to reach a fair trade deal with Chinese President
00:05Xi Jinping while downplaying the risk of a clash over Taiwan. Trump says he does not believe China
00:13intends to invade Taiwan but expects the issue to be raised when they meet on the
00:18sidelines of the APEC summit in South Korea next week.
00:22After meeting Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Trump pledged to speed up nuclear
00:30submarine deliveries to Australia and was asked if U.S. actions in the Indo-Pacific are
00:35enough to deter Beijing. Trump replied that China doesn't want to do that while touting
00:40the size and strength of the U.S. military. U.S. Trade Representative Jameson Greer, however,
00:46struck a tougher tone, worrying the U.S. would respond to what he called China's economic
00:51coercion, targeting strategic industries.
00:54Trade tensions between the world's two largest economies remain unresolved, with disputes over
00:59tariffs, technology and market access still lingering just days before the two leaders meet.
01:06Trump said he will also visit China early next year at Beijing's invitation.
