00:00Triumphant and full of excitement.
00:09It's been a year since Labor was returned to power in the ACT for a seventh consecutive
00:14term.
00:19Twelve months into those four years, there's an acknowledgement it's been a challenging
00:22time for the Territory, but Andrew Barr, who is the longest current serving state or territory
00:27leader in Australia, says he isn't shying away.
00:30Just because things are hard isn't a reason to walk away from them.
00:33While he says there's still a lot of work to do, he said he didn't agree with criticism
00:38that his government's brand was tired and fatigued.
00:41We remain focused on delivering the commitments we took to the election and focused on addressing
00:47the issues that the ACT faces at the moment.
00:50What is crystal clear is there is a great deal of voters remorse, if you like, with regard
00:55to the 12 months of ACT Labor.
00:58With a budget deficit of more than a billion dollars, light rail construction causing commuter
01:03chaos and a health system under pressure, the opposition says Canberrans have been forced
01:08to pay more and get less in return.
01:11It's quite arrogant, I believe, of the government to say we're doing all these great things when
01:15we know most Canberrans are feeling the pinch and aren't getting any better services from it.
01:20The make-up of the assembly, with the Greens out of a formal coalition with Labor and the
01:25election of two independents, has meant the government has had to change its approach this term.
01:29When you've got the same government for a long time, it can be difficult to acknowledge
01:33that there are problems that may be the fault of the government that's been here.
01:37So the way I see it is I've got a role to play in amplifying the voices from our community
01:42that don't feel like they've had a good hearing for a period of time.
01:45In terms of government, elections, election cycles are marathons, not sprints.
01:51And there's another three years before this term reaches the finish line.
01:55Apparently I'm too old for that, but thank you everyone.
02:00Thank you very much.
02:01Thank you very much.
