The Northern Territory Chief Minister is still unable to say when a long-awaited review into senior police recruitment will be finished, six months after she commissioned it. While the inquiry by Acting Justice Alan Blow drags on, the government has quickly shut down conflict-of-interest allegations surrounding the NT environmental regulator.

00:08Certainly the Blow inquiry has taken some time.
00:11The inquiry investigating all senior appointments during former Commissioner Michael Murphy's tenure.
00:18Mr Murphy sacked in March after recruiting a close friend to a high ranking position.
00:25Six months on, still no time frame for Justice Alan Blow's report.
00:30It's entirely a matter for him how he completes and when he completes that report.
00:34I anticipate that it would be only a couple of months to two to three months to be completed.
00:38Held up by the waiting game, the recruitment process to find a new permanent commissioner.

00:46So when we've got an acting commissioner, we've also got an acting deputy commissioner,
00:49we've got acting assistant commissioners as well.
00:51The police union confident the draft report is complete.
00:55I stand by the fact that I was aware that the report had actually been provided to the Northern Territory Police Force.

01:05The head of the NT's environmental regulator cleared of conflict of interest allegations within days.
01:12Paul Vogel had been involved in regulatory decisions about a major methane leak at Darwin LNG plant.
01:20At the same time, holding a paid role with a lobbying firm whose clients included the plant's co-owner.
01:28So there is no further action from this point other than to say we have full confidence in Dr Vogel and the EPA
01:34to do their important work in protecting the environment.
01:37Yet to be seen whether the same faith can be placed in NT Police's top brass.
