Kenya’s Toroitich wins Amsterdam Marathon

Kenya's Geofry Toroitich Kipchumba and Ethiopian Aynalem Desta won the 50th edition of the Amsterdam Marathon, which took place on Sunday, October 19, in the city of Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands.

00:00Kenya's Joffrey Torotich set the fourth fastest time in the men's 42 kilometers this year to win the Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday.
00:09Torotich clocked two hours, three minutes, 30 seconds, also a course record for the annual competition,
00:16to cut the tape ahead of Ethiopia's duo of Getanela Mola and Sigay Getachew, who came second and third respectively.
00:25Also in the contention in the men's race was double world record holder Joshua Cheptigay of Uganda,
00:31who had to make peace with a fifth-place finish after timing two hours, four minutes, 50 seconds.
00:38Meanwhile, it was an all Ethiopian affair in the women's race as Anyalem Desta laid a podium sweep for the Eastern Africans,
00:46clocking two hours, 17 minutes, 37 seconds in first place.
00:50Fellow countrymen Bertucan Weld and Mekides Shemeles took second and third respectively.
