00:00Former Patagas Assemblyman James Ligunjang warned that a federal appeal against the recent
00:06court ruling on Sabah's 40% revenue claim could threaten national unity and hurt peninsula-based
00:12parties. He said many Sabahans would view any move by the Attorney General's chambers in Putrajaya
00:17to challenge the ruling as a violation of the federal constitution, fueling feelings of injustice
00:23and betrayal. Ligunjang added that Sabahans may see it as an assault on their autonomy and control
00:29over resources, going against federalist principles. He said the situation could shift voting patterns,
00:36with voters turning away from peninsula-based parties and supporting local leaders who defend
00:40Sabah's sovereignty. Ligunjang said overturning the decision could endanger the unity of the
00:46federation and reshape Sabah's political landscape for years. The Kota Kinabalu High Court had
00:52ruled that the federal government acted unlawfully by not honoring Sabah's 40% share of net federal
00:57revenue for nearly five decades, following a judicial review by the Sabah Law Society. Ligunjang
01:04urged Putrajaya to respect the ruling, warning that an appeal would erode goodwill and justice
01:09long denied to Sabahans. Danshwar Jiriza, FMT.
