00:00:00Tonight.
00:00:01Gross!
00:00:03It's just 27 hours until the final tools down.
00:00:06This is the last chance.
00:00:07Wow.
00:00:08Trust me, this one's got the lot.
00:00:11What the is going on here?
00:00:13Oh my god.
00:00:14Knock down Q now.
00:00:17I don't want to leave.
00:00:20Five teams.
00:00:21We'd hate to walk out of here without a win.
00:00:23This is straight, this walkway.
00:00:25Five very different priorities.
00:00:27Don't be able to go in the pool first.
00:00:28No chance.
00:00:29Trying to figure out a way to make it look less hideous.
00:00:32One shared goal.
00:00:33First time she's been here on a Sunday night.
00:00:36Winning this week's prize.
00:00:38Not one, but two MGs and 50 grand off their auction reserve
00:00:43price thanks to Bunnings.
00:00:45How good is that?
00:00:46I think it's just a missed opportunity.
00:00:48Oh, it's stunning.
00:00:50Think about the elephant in the room.
00:00:52It's all come down to this.
00:00:54I mean, it could win or lose this competition.
00:00:58Previously?
00:00:59No, more previously than that.
00:01:01I'm a man.
00:01:02I'm a man.
00:01:03I'm a man.
00:01:04Welcome to the block.
00:01:05Tonight, it's our 1,000th episode.
00:01:08I'm Scott Cam and welcome to the block.
00:01:11For over 20 years, welcome to the block all-stars.
00:01:15We have delivered some amazing renovations.
00:01:18Welcome to the block.
00:01:20Transforming crumbling icons to modern masterpieces.
00:01:24From tired old landmarks, welcome to the block.
00:01:27From wrecks to wonders to homes worth millions.
00:01:31Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the block.
00:01:33Welcome to the block, Gold Rush.
00:01:35Welcome to the block, Brighton.
00:01:38Welcome to Bronte Court.
00:01:40And with it, helping ordinary Aussies win enough money
00:01:43to realise their property dreams.
00:01:45Welcome to the block.
00:01:46We're going island life.
00:01:48Including this block.
00:01:49The perfect setting for season 21 of the block.
00:01:53Let's go.
00:01:55Matt, at some point, you threaten that you're going to tell everybody
00:02:11what you think of them.
00:02:12Yeah.
00:02:13Let it rip.
00:02:14M and Ben.
00:02:17Boring!
00:02:20Get some personality and something fun to say.
00:02:23I love M and Ben.
00:02:26They are the sweetest, kindest people.
00:02:29House 2.
00:02:30Oh my god, where do I start?
00:02:34Can is emotionless.
00:02:37Han doesn't even know that she's on a TV show yet.
00:02:42We're at week 13.
00:02:43Get off, get off, get off.
00:02:46I'm struggling to get up.
00:02:47Are you right?
00:02:48Take it.
00:02:49Do you know what?
00:02:50I've really enjoyed getting to know them and meeting them.
00:02:54And Can is probably one of the funniest people we've ever met.
00:02:58Is there any possibility of a little beverage you know?
00:03:04Literally anything that's going to lubricate my throat.
00:03:07Um, Britt and Taz.
00:03:09Two cameras, master interview.
00:03:11The last one.
00:03:12Britt and Taz.
00:03:13Britt and Taz.
00:03:14Pop.
00:03:15Sweet.
00:03:16As.
00:03:17Pie.
00:03:18Brits calculated.
00:03:19Love her.
00:03:20But she's, she's playing a game.
00:03:21Taz is just here for the ride.
00:03:22Who have we got?
00:03:23Sunny and Leigh.
00:03:24Final master interview.
00:03:25This is us.
00:03:26Oh, scream, scream, yell, scream.
00:03:27They're my favourite people I've ever met.
00:03:29I love them.
00:03:30She is call a spade a spade, but don't cross her because she'll throat punch you.
00:03:47Absolutely.
00:03:48And then we've got this one.
00:03:49Steals your breakfast, eats your breakfast.
00:03:51Makes you come on a show that you don't know and then you fall in love with it and changes
00:03:53your life.
00:03:54Made me fall in love with it.
00:03:55He got me on a TV show after a decade of asking me.
00:03:56And do you know what?
00:03:57I've loved the entire experience.
00:04:01We're just over 27 hours until tools down on front yard and facade week.
00:04:15It's dawning on our teams that it's the countdown of last.
00:04:19Last pre-start meeting.
00:04:21Last room reveal.
00:04:23Last tools down and last judging.
00:04:27One more day to make or break a block dream.
00:04:32Sonny.
00:04:33What's happening?
00:04:3424 hours to go on the block.
00:04:35Can you believe it?
00:04:36Not really.
00:04:37No.
00:04:38It's pretty surreal when you first rock up here.
00:04:42And it's pretty surreal when you know you're going home.
00:04:48This is the last chance.
00:04:51Last chance.
00:04:52We'd hate to walk out of here without a win.
00:04:54And if that happens, well, we'll have to deal with that.
00:04:56You know, that's part of the game.
00:05:00Morning, everyone.
00:05:01Morning, dream man.
00:05:02Day 86.
00:05:03This is our last pre-start.
00:05:04No more.
00:05:05Well, we will wake up early tomorrow.
00:05:10But no more listening to GMAC at 7am.
00:05:13It's definitely challenging.
00:05:14Doing this show.
00:05:15It's really hard.
00:05:16Is one of the hardest things that we've done in our lives.
00:05:19Last full day.
00:05:2024 hours of filming.
00:05:22We're pretty much calling this the last day on the block.
00:05:26Yeah.
00:05:27I think it's fair to say that.
00:05:28Last day on the block and we're feeling okay today.
00:05:31I think it's one of those things that's a bit bittersweet, isn't it?
00:05:34Like, you're sad to be leaving but you're so happy because you're exhausted.
00:05:37You miss home.
00:05:38You want to go home.
00:05:39But, you know, it's sad to be saying goodbye to this journey.
00:05:42For me, it's been lovely to have met you guys and worked with you and all the rest.
00:05:47Yeah, there's a lot going through our heads right now.
00:05:50We've still got our eyes on the prize.
00:05:52We've still got a lot of work to do.
00:05:53But also, it's the last Saturday ever.
00:05:55I think the emotions will hit us tomorrow once it's all over.
00:05:59Because we know how much we've got to do today and today's just another day on the block.
00:06:02It's a 17-hour work day today.
00:06:05And, um, well, just a reminder, come Monday, you're all dead to me.
00:06:11We love you too.
00:06:16I'm feeling very sad, actually.
00:06:18I don't want to leave.
00:06:21Trying to think about it.
00:06:23Yeah.
00:06:25I'm going to miss it.
00:06:26I've enjoyed it the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.
00:06:29But, yeah.
00:06:31Aww.
00:06:32Today is going to be the biggest day ever for us on the block.
00:06:36We are going to be working down to the line.
00:06:39Hannah and I know what position we're in.
00:06:41We've seen the other houses.
00:06:43Hannah and Can are way behind on their Japanese-inspired garden
00:06:47that will feature a massive torii gate, raked pebbles, tropical plants and palm trees,
00:06:53plus a relaxed outdoor setting at the side of the house.
00:06:58But right now, that feels a long way away.
00:07:02Yeah, we better get some water flowing and get our floaties on because, um, we're about to drown.
00:07:08House two might be in over their heads, but it's what's over everyone's heads that's getting all the attention.
00:07:14What the is going on here?
00:07:20Oh, my God.
00:07:21Oh, my God.
00:07:24That's...
00:07:25It's not very subtle.
00:07:26That's mental.
00:07:27Um, I'm glad it's not in my house, but...
00:07:31Yeah, I feel like someone in their team needs to just take the reins and be like...
00:07:35Slow it down.
00:07:36Yeah, like, just woo up.
00:07:37I've worked it out.
00:07:38It's the entrance to Jurassic Park.
00:07:44Where's that concrete path go?
00:07:47To get there, you've got to walk 4K that way.
00:07:50Do a U-turn jump back.
00:07:52Ha!
00:08:01You know what?
00:08:02It's the last day on the block.
00:08:03It's sunny.
00:08:04I'm feeling good.
00:08:05I reckon everyone here could do with some food.
00:08:06So I'm just going to order 10 McMuffins, 10 hash browns.
00:08:11And it's going to get delivered right to the front door.
00:08:14Even better.
00:08:15What are you doing?
00:08:16What?
00:08:17I can smell you.
00:08:18Yeah?
00:08:19What?
00:08:20Mmm.
00:08:21Oh, that smells like breakfast.
00:08:24Mmm.
00:08:25Do you want some?
00:08:26I'm never going to...
00:08:27Doing a little McDelivery.
00:08:28Oh, McLove you.
00:08:30Yeah, I'll come up.
00:08:31I'll come up to your house.
00:08:32In house 4, Sunny and Alicia seem to be very chill despite what's on the line this week.
00:08:36These last 24 hours are the most important.
00:08:39I think out of everything we've done winning the caravan and now this, these are probably
00:08:43the two most important scores that you can get for the block.
00:08:47Sunny and Alicia are the only couple that have not won a room this season.
00:08:51Our sole focus is winning this week.
00:08:54We cannot go home not winning a room.
00:08:58And they're throwing everything at it, including three secret weapons.
00:09:02A second driveway, three mature trees and a massive custom kangaroo sculpture that looks
00:09:09like this.
00:09:13Hang on.
00:09:14How about something with a bit more gravitas?
00:09:17Much better.
00:09:19Wow.
00:09:20He's huge.
00:09:21That's so good.
00:09:22I think he's 2.3 metres and...
00:09:23Look how sick that.
00:09:24Yeah.
00:09:25He's a beast.
00:09:26That's it.
00:09:27That's so cool.
00:09:28What a weapon.
00:09:29So good, mate.
00:09:30All yours.
00:09:32We've named him MG.
00:09:33Why have you called him MG?
00:09:34Because MG's on offer this week, so MG the kangaroo.
00:09:36Here we come.
00:09:37Not only does this week's winning team get 50 grand off their reserve, but they also win
00:09:55an MG for the house and an MG to take home.
00:09:59And having already won a $260,000 caravan to include with their house sale, they might
00:10:05like to take something home with them.
00:10:07I'd love to be able to ring my mum and tell her that she's got a new car coming her way.
00:10:12But Sonny and Alicia aren't done yet.
00:10:15I've got three big trees coming.
00:10:17I was getting two, but they decided to do me a deal on three.
00:10:21It was way back in week nine that Sonny and Alicia won the training games.
00:10:25So Sonny, stand and Dame Leash arise.
00:10:29And with it, $10,000 of mature trees.
00:10:32And I do mean mature.
00:10:34Oh, that's a big tree.
00:10:37My Chinese elms come up the driveway.
00:10:40They're pretty impressive.
00:10:42Holy Julie.
00:10:44A little bit, yeah.
00:10:47And then push to the bottom.
00:10:49Yeah.
00:10:50It's everything and more that I hoped.
00:10:52Looks so good.
00:10:53He looks like that he should have been on our grass the entire time.
00:10:57And those trees, you stand down at house five and look back, you don't see past our trees.
00:11:02It just looks amazing.
00:11:04Hopefully it stops you from seeing the arbor.
00:11:06In house one, Emma and Ben are creating a clean front facade with timber landing steps framed by two mature bottle trees, a fern garden and rolling grass hills.
00:11:25At least that's the plan.
00:11:28Um, looking around, still a lot to do.
00:11:31Yeah, we do.
00:11:32We've got our chippies coming in.
00:11:33You've got to finish off all the decking, the side of the decking.
00:11:36Yeah.
00:11:37Feeling a little stressed.
00:11:3924 hours to go and there's still a lot of decking to do.
00:11:42Got to paint the side of the baseboards there.
00:11:45No, they're steps.
00:11:46They're building steps as well.
00:11:49Yeah.
00:11:50Yeah.
00:11:51Wow.
00:11:52Steps coming down either side.
00:11:53Wow.
00:11:54Yeah.
00:11:55They reckon they'll smash it though.
00:11:57Wowee.
00:11:58Okay.
00:11:59I can see us using power tools all night tonight.
00:12:02Yeah.
00:12:03We'll be going all day.
00:12:04And night.
00:12:05Yeah.
00:12:08Yeah, we're busy.
00:12:09We're racing.
00:12:10It's a race to the end.
00:12:11In the final 24 hours, the last room is shaping up as the tale of two finishers.
00:12:21Those in a frenzy and those that are not.
00:12:25I feel like we need to go in the pool first.
00:12:27Not a chance.
00:12:28Not a chance.
00:12:29Not a chance.
00:12:30It only took us 12 weeks.
00:12:31But we weren't panic attacking.
00:12:33No.
00:12:34On a Saturday.
00:12:35We thought we'd better have an important business meeting.
00:12:37Oh.
00:12:38Stop it.
00:12:39That's where you were.
00:12:40You almost died.
00:12:41Oh, that is so good.
00:12:42This week, House 3's Britt and Taz are leaning into Aussie.
00:12:46Into Aussie.
00:12:49That's better.
00:12:52They're going with native plants, a dry river bed and a secret garage door decal that will
00:12:59hopefully tie it all together.
00:13:01And around the side of the house, an outdoor cinema.
00:13:05Anyway, back to that important business meeting.
00:13:07We do need to get a mailbox.
00:13:08We do need to get a mailbox.
00:13:09We do need to get a mailbox.
00:13:10We're better buttings.
00:13:11Meanwhile, back at House 2, the meandering concrete path and had the Curcio's confused,
00:13:18is now frustrating Foreman Dan.
00:13:20It just doesn't look right.
00:13:21Why?
00:13:22What's happened?
00:13:23This walkway.
00:13:24We're going to need a bit more detail than that.
00:13:28The hardener he put on it was a 24 hour one.
00:13:32He's washed it off too early.
00:13:33Okay, that's better.
00:13:34And what does that mean?
00:13:35It looks horrible.
00:13:36That's what it means.
00:13:37So this morning, Dan's come in and realised that the concrete that was poured yesterday
00:13:44has been washed off too early and it hasn't exposed the aggregate.
00:13:48Look, it's just no consistency anywhere.
00:13:50Oh dear.
00:13:52Structurally, it's fine.
00:13:55It's just aesthetic.
00:13:56It's not going to match that driveway and should.
00:14:01Nothing you can do now.
00:14:03This is what it is.
00:14:05The judges will probably notice it but more importantly, the buyers.
00:14:09That's what I'm worried about.
00:14:11I'm really, really worried now for these girls.
00:14:14This front yard week and it's just, it's been a continuation of last week.
00:14:19I just can't.
00:14:20I just can't.
00:14:21I just can't.
00:14:22Even they're laughing.
00:14:26Strangely, I like it.
00:14:31I shouldn't but I like it.
00:14:34Everyone smiles when they walk through it.
00:14:37I can't knock it down with this.
00:14:40Do you want me to bring the bigger machinery?
00:14:45I was running when they were going to spend their money.
00:14:57They've rattled the whole block because right now I can't see them losing.
00:15:00With just seven hours until lockout, you would expect chaos.
00:15:13But there's a surprising sense of calm across the block.
00:15:17Last bit of conch for ever, hopefully.
00:15:21This looks lovely.
00:15:27We've got a lot to offer this week.
00:15:29We're really proud of what we've done.
00:15:31Rummy Amounted keeping their front facade classic and welcoming with clean garden beds,
00:15:36a statement path and a water feature with goldfish for good luck.
00:15:41We're finishing strong.
00:15:43Would we love to take out the win?
00:15:45Absolutely.
00:15:47There's just one reveal left.
00:15:49And on the block, winning rooms is everything.
00:15:51And that's been Robbie and Matt's speciality.
00:15:54By a bonus point, it's Matt Robbie.
00:15:57The boys have racked up four room wins this season.
00:16:00But neck and neck with them, it's Brett and Taz.
00:16:04Yep, Brett and Taz also have four wins.
00:16:07In equal third, it's Han and Khan, who had wins in week three and six,
00:16:12along with Sam and Ben, who took out week eight and week 11.
00:16:19As for Sonny and Alicia...
00:16:24For Sonny and Alicia, it's been a winless grind for 12 long weeks.
00:16:28They don't take out this final week.
00:16:30They will be the only team in block history not to have won a room.
00:16:35A couple of nice big trees, eh?
00:16:37Beautiful.
00:16:38I was running when they were going to spend their money.
00:16:43House four, all of a sudden, got these monster trees
00:16:47and there's a damn kangaroo.
00:16:52No-one knew that we were going to put these trees in.
00:16:55No-one knew MG the kangaroo was coming
00:16:57and no-one was aware that I'd commandeered the MG.
00:17:00The ute that's up for grabs.
00:17:02Wow, what a weapon.
00:17:03Bit going on.
00:17:05Sounds great too.
00:17:08Already claiming it.
00:17:09Smart.
00:17:12Sonny and Alicia, they've rattled the whole block
00:17:14because right now I can't see them losing.
00:17:17Four big features that just came in.
00:17:19They've got the secondary driveway that no-one else has got
00:17:23and they've got the titanium caravan.
00:17:26Wow.
00:17:27Thank you so much.
00:17:29You've got to be going hard this week to win this because, like,
00:17:39that can be the difference between winning the block.
00:17:42Sonny and Alicia are playing a different game
00:17:44than everyone else this week,
00:17:46including a calculated move that's more like 4D chess.
00:17:50Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
00:17:56I organised for everybody to be down at Daylesford
00:17:59to watch the local footy match
00:18:01because this week plumber Chris is playing Daylesford
00:18:05so I thought maybe we should all go and support him.
00:18:08Shut it, Chris!
00:18:09He just spat.
00:18:11But I can't go.
00:18:16Because while everybody else was out going to football,
00:18:18we had our eye on the prize.
00:18:22While Sonny and Alicia are eyeing the prize,
00:18:24Han and Kan can barely look up
00:18:26from the mountain of problems in front of them.
00:18:29That looks ****.
00:18:30First problem.
00:18:32The gate.
00:18:34No, not that gate.
00:18:36That's the one.
00:18:38We were calling it the bus stop.
00:18:40It's not a bus stop.
00:18:43It's not a bus stop.
00:18:45It kind of looks like,
00:18:46excuse me, it's Christian Jenkins' creation,
00:18:48you can't talk about it like that.
00:18:49I really like it.
00:18:50I think it just creates the entrance to getting in.
00:18:53It went up yesterday but...
00:18:55It takes your eye off the Tory gate
00:18:57which is a massive hero for the house.
00:19:01And then it's sort of like
00:19:02blending two different cultures in a way.
00:19:05It blends two cultures?
00:19:07Well that's what they were saying.
00:19:08Anyway, I believe it throws off the symmetry of the house.
00:19:11How?
00:19:12What cultures is it blending?
00:19:15It was just other comments other people made.
00:19:17I don't know.
00:19:19It's weird.
00:19:20Well I don't know anything about blending cultures
00:19:22but if you ask me, it's manure.
00:19:25Manure.
00:19:26Someone's delivered a steaming pile of manure.
00:19:29So, the hut was taken down.
00:19:37And it wasn't me who named it the bus stop by the way,
00:19:40it was Foreman Dan.
00:19:42OK, next problem.
00:19:46Because Han and Cam's retaining wall is above 900 millimetres,
00:19:49it means they are required to replace this safety fence
00:19:52with a permanent balustrade.
00:19:55So yeah, solution is nine and six have said
00:19:57because it's so late in the piece
00:19:59that they will take care of the guardrail.
00:20:03Clear gap, 47.
00:20:10How's hideous?
00:20:12All they had on site was the black fencing which is hideous.
00:20:17Feels like prison.
00:20:18So, yeah, I guess we're just trying to figure out a way
00:20:21to make it look less hideous.
00:20:23And they have settled on covering it with plants.
00:20:26What do you think?
00:20:27I think it's a good idea.
00:20:28Just to cover as much of it as possible from the...
00:20:31Yeah, it's one thing I'll throw in the other.
00:20:40So they poured their walkway yesterday
00:20:43and then they gurned it off within about two or three hours.
00:20:47And that doesn't allow the hardener to set in
00:20:50and keep all the stones in position.
00:20:52So Dan's called in the concreters from House Five
00:20:54who've come up with a solution.
00:20:56Acid.
00:20:58Dehydrochloric acid washing.
00:20:59Yeah.
00:21:006,000 PSI pressure washing.
00:21:02So a real hard one.
00:21:03And you reckon we can get it to what that will look like over there?
00:21:05We can get it relatively close, yeah.
00:21:07Oh.
00:21:08Wow.
00:21:09What a difference.
00:21:10Yeah.
00:21:11Holly.
00:21:12You can see from there to there.
00:21:14We can fix it.
00:21:15We can see it.
00:21:16That looks normal now.
00:21:18Well, I think that's the last of Han and Cairns problems.
00:21:21Oh, yeah.
00:21:22They don't have a front gate.
00:21:23Apparently our gate's not gonna come.
00:21:24Why?
00:21:25Because he hasn't made it.
00:21:26It's a beautiful day.
00:21:27I missed the footy too.
00:21:28Who?
00:21:29I missed out on the footy too.
00:21:30Yeah.
00:21:31We've got no gate.
00:21:32Why?
00:21:33Not ready till Monday apparently.
00:21:36Yeah.
00:21:37Yeah, Arbor's cool.
00:21:39It'll take the focus off no gate.
00:21:40Don't worry about it.
00:21:45It's a beautiful day.
00:21:47And it's not just Han and Cairns who are struggling with their gate.
00:22:06Emma and Ban have their own issues.
00:22:10Painting the gates.
00:22:13We thought they were coming black.
00:22:15But they're not.
00:22:17So, we're just gonna paint them.
00:22:22Boring!
00:22:23Despite having a mountain of work, Emma and Ban have managed to get through most of it.
00:22:29We're in a pretty good spot.
00:22:31The deck is finished.
00:22:33We've gurneyed the driveway.
00:22:35The lighting is in and it's working.
00:22:37We've got a little few touch-up bits to do tomorrow morning for the two hours.
00:22:41But we're so happy with how this space has come together.
00:22:44Okay, last night on the block.
00:22:47What day is it?
00:22:48Day eighty?
00:22:49Four, five or six.
00:22:51Yeah.
00:22:52And we are almost finished the front yard.
00:22:54A little bit more painting to do.
00:22:56And...
00:22:57Yeah.
00:22:58It looks amazing.
00:22:59Feeling great.
00:23:00More red!
00:23:01Yeah!
00:23:02Yeah!
00:23:03Yeah!
00:23:04Yeah!
00:23:09Fresh from staring into the sun, the master of mulch is back to see whose facades are blooming
00:23:16and whose are well and truly rooted.
00:23:18Final day, two hours until tools down.
00:23:32Our one thousandth episode.
00:23:35And against all odds, it's less a race to the finish and more a meander to the end.
00:23:40Good morning.
00:23:41Took us twelve weeks before we finally finished on a Saturday night instead of a Sunday morning
00:23:47at nine o'clock in the morning.
00:23:49Well, they drove to work, Lazy Bar.
00:23:51We have, like, a little bit of work to do, but enough that we have time this morning to
00:23:56not have to worry too much about it.
00:23:58I think our neighbours are happy.
00:24:01What's left?
00:24:02Ugh.
00:24:03Filling up.
00:24:04A few plants.
00:24:05Um.
00:24:06Yeah.
00:24:07Try and stay upright.
00:24:08Oh.
00:24:09We built a house.
00:24:10Ugh!
00:24:11Would we love to take out the win?
00:24:12Absolutely.
00:24:13Have we given it everything?
00:24:14Yes.
00:24:15And have they been responsible for the first death on the block?
00:24:17Possibly.
00:24:18I think they're dead.
00:24:21Matt.
00:24:22What?
00:24:23I think the fish are dead.
00:24:24It was zero degrees last night.
00:24:26Unless they're asleep.
00:24:27Maybe just poke one.
00:24:28Oh, no, it's .
00:24:29Oh, no, it's .
00:24:30It's .
00:24:31Oh, no, it's .
00:24:32Oh, no, it's .
00:24:33Oh, no.
00:24:34Oh, no, it's .
00:24:35Oh, no, it's .
00:24:36Oh, no, it's .
00:24:37Oh, no, it's .
00:24:38Oh, no.
00:24:39Oh, no, it's .
00:24:40last night unless they're asleep maybe just poke one oh no dead oh my god I'm
00:24:57sorry Josephine I'm sorry Janna
00:25:03and it's not just a fish tell it he emma and Ben have arrived to find the
00:25:08freezing temperatures have caused the paint to run off their gates pull them off
00:25:15okay sure please I had to take the gates off which is a shame because the paint
00:25:21just it was too cold thanks guys appreciate it over in house 3 Britt and
00:25:31Taz finally get to reveal the best-kept secret on the block believe it or not
00:25:36this isn't the actual decal for their 4d garage door we're about to reveal the
00:25:43actual garage door yeah much to everyone's surprise I think because
00:25:47everyone else on the block believes it is wow
00:25:54wow it's different you can't really that's what we call a hit the miss
00:26:01yeah we are not putting our faces

00:26:30I was just worried for everyone on the street to be honest the gag well and truly paid off
00:26:41to rip it off it was it was amazing
00:26:50wow so to bring it a person like Troy in to help tell our story but to be from this area to be from
00:27:08this country is is so important to us you know without sounding too full of it but
00:27:13like it's gonna be a lot of young fellows watching home seeing me do this and me at
00:27:18work doing what I do when you know someone like Troy and him at work doing what he
00:27:22does and you know really look up to that and that's it's the example I want to set
00:27:25for my kids and example on the set for my community my community isn't just back

00:28:32Not as silly!
00:28:34Oh, gross!
00:28:36I don't even know what we're feeling. We built a house in 12 weeks.
00:28:41We have no idea what we're doing still.
00:28:43My sister's building a house and it's been going for two years.
00:28:47Love ya.
00:28:51Well done.
00:28:52I don't want it to end.
00:28:53We don't want it to end.
00:28:55Yay!
00:29:01Oh, I'm getting emotional.
00:29:03It's pretty cool, isn't it?
00:29:05It's amazing.
00:29:07Just a couple of guys.
00:29:08A couple of guys.
00:29:09Just a couple of guys building a house.
00:29:14Yeah, I think it's really...
00:29:15It's going to hit like a ton of bricks.
00:29:17Oh, you're getting me. Stop it!
00:29:30Well done, Em.
00:29:31It's like sunny.
00:29:32Hold on.
00:29:33Oh.
00:29:37If you tried just a little more times, I wouldn't make you a believer.
00:29:43Would it show you a world?
00:29:45Oh, my God.
00:29:47Oh, my God.
00:29:49Oh, my God.
00:29:51Oh, my God.
00:29:53Oh, my God.
00:29:55Oh, my God.
00:29:56Oh, my God.
00:29:57Oh, my God.
00:29:58Oh, my God.
00:29:59Oh, my God.
00:30:00Oh, my God.
00:30:02Oh, my God.
00:30:03Oh, my God.
00:30:04Oh, my God.
00:30:05Oh, my God.
00:30:06Oh, my God.
00:30:07Oh, my God.
00:30:08Oh, my God.
00:30:09Oh, my God.
00:30:10Hello, Shelly.
00:30:11Oh, my God.
00:30:12You're all so clean and beautiful.
00:30:14She is as excited as I am tonight.
00:30:15She's always excited every Sunday show.
00:30:18She gets very excited.
00:30:19Oh, don't blame her.
00:30:20Oh, here you go.
00:30:21Okay.
00:30:22Hit your mark, stay there.
00:30:23This is so much fun.
00:30:24Now, before we kick off, as you can see,
00:30:26we have the lovely Shelly Craft in the studio.
00:30:28It's the first time she's been in the studio on a Sunday night
00:30:30in all the years that she's worked here.
00:30:32And on behalf of everybody, the crew, the contestants,
00:30:35everybody, I say this one thing,
00:30:37don't it up, Shelly.
00:30:39Good evening, everybody.
00:30:41Good evening.
00:30:42You've done it.
00:30:43You've finished the vlog.
00:30:45Three months of full-time renovating
00:30:51and what a way to finish your houses are magnificent.
00:30:55You people are bloody magnificent.
00:31:01Now, there is a very good reason
00:31:03that I have invited my very good friend, Shelly Craft,
00:31:07into the studio tonight.
00:31:09Because, if you'll indulge me,
00:31:11I have a bit of an announcement to make.
00:31:14Tonight is a very special occasion.
00:31:18Tonight marks our 1,000th episode of The Blonde.
00:31:26What?
00:31:27I know, it's an incredible achievement
00:31:29and I'd like to say on behalf of myself, Shelly,
00:31:33and our entire production crew,
00:31:35I'd like to give a heartfelt thank you to you,
00:31:37the folks at home that watch the program.
00:31:40We truly understand that we wouldn't be here
00:31:43without you.
00:31:44We're humbled, we're grateful,
00:31:46and we truly say thank you
00:31:48for your ongoing commitment to the show.
00:31:51I guess you like watching these knuckleheads, do you?
00:31:53I think you might have something to do
00:31:55with the success of the show too, Scotty.
00:31:57Yes, and our crew.
00:31:58All right, let's get back to the show.
00:32:07Where was I?
00:32:08Oh, that's right.
00:32:09The final judging of The Block, Dalesford.
00:32:12Week 12.
00:32:13Where someone is going to win, not one, but two MGs,
00:32:17and also take $50,000 off their reserve.
00:32:21Thanks to Bunnings, we're going out with a bang shelf.
00:32:25It's a big deal, my friend.
00:32:26Hey, listen, would you like to hang around
00:32:28and do the feedback with me?
00:32:29That'd be a first.
00:32:30I thought you'd never ask.
00:32:31You think I just put this on for fun?
00:32:34Okay, House One, Em and Ben, here we go.
00:32:36If this week was a musical theatre show, what would it be?
00:32:45Grease lightning.
00:32:46That's a great one.
00:32:48And the end scene, and then you fly off in the car.
00:32:51Hey, we've got to win the car now.
00:32:53And we fly off in the car.
00:32:55Of all the weeks, this is probably going to be
00:33:00the most level playing field because everyone's got
00:33:03the same front yard.
00:33:04If anything, we've got maybe the slightest of advantages
00:33:06because it's slightly bigger than everyone else's.
00:33:08Got that big curve.
00:33:13Phil's cracking on with the driveway,
00:33:14so he's spraying that off today.
00:33:16And the two bottle trees, they anchor the house.
00:33:20Colin is mounting the dirt to make them frame
00:33:23the centre entrance.
00:33:24Yay!
00:33:27Thursday, three weeks to go.
00:33:29Oh, no.
00:33:31Thursday, three days to go.
00:33:32Al is building the deck for our front door area.
00:33:36Yeah, we've probably got three decks to build,
00:33:38so we've still got our work cut out for it.
00:33:44So I just felt under control,
00:33:46so I popped into Cedar and Sage.
00:33:48And I'm going to go buy a gift for our beautiful Met Cafe girls.
00:33:52Oh, yeah, that's so nice.
00:33:54Excellent.
00:33:56Thank you so much.
00:33:58We have some little gifts to say thank you
00:34:00for being amazing this whole season.
00:34:03We love you all and thank you so much.
00:34:05To our favourite baristas.
00:34:06Yay!
00:34:08Colin, our landscaper, is making up signs that will say
00:34:12the Hills Dowsford.
00:34:13It's the name of our house.
00:34:14Yeah, we'll put it on the front fence and the house entry.
00:34:18Perfect!
00:34:20That was so good.
00:34:21We think our front yard is...
00:34:23I'm going to say perfect.
00:34:24That's...
00:34:25It's perfect.
00:34:26That's too obvious, but it is.
00:34:28It's perfect.
00:34:29Let's have a look.
00:34:41The judges came through your house from your winning backyard
00:34:45and when they opened the front door,
00:34:47Darren was already smiling.
00:34:49Look at the decking.
00:34:51I was too busy with the battening.
00:34:53Oh, it's stunning.
00:34:55I just love this experience of coming out
00:34:57and seeing that driveway roll up and bend
00:35:00and with the trees in the background.
00:35:02It's so grand.
00:35:03Dave Franklin is back this week
00:35:06and on first impressions,
00:35:08he loved your front garden.
00:35:10This is also finished, I was going to say.
00:35:12It really is.
00:35:13There was a lot in Philippine last year that wasn't finished.
00:35:18Dave said the planting is all about matching the colours
00:35:21to the cedars behind.
00:35:22If you have a look around, you can see all the blues,
00:35:24the silver blues that we're getting in the native
00:35:26here and then you look back up on the back there
00:35:28and that's where it's all matching in.
00:35:30So that with the two bottle trees that frames the house,
00:35:33you've got a garden here that's quite thought out.
00:35:36Well, quite thought out.
00:35:37This is actually planted perfectly.
00:35:39I mean, it's pretty hard to beat.
00:35:41So did you do most of the planting, Ben,
00:35:43with your jacket on, with the go-go gadget
00:35:45and all the stuff going on?
00:35:47He did.
00:35:48It was going everywhere.
00:35:49It was going everywhere.
00:35:50It was going everywhere.
00:35:51It's going everywhere.
00:35:52Your pockets galore.
00:35:54How big will they get, Dave, these natives along that?
00:35:56They will get as tall as what the cedars are behind here.
00:35:58Oh, wow.
00:35:59They'll get quite big as well.
00:36:01Yeah.
00:36:02And that's going to give that privacy
00:36:03because this is the corner allotment.
00:36:05So you've obviously got the pub just across the road,
00:36:07which is such a selling feature for buyers.
00:36:09But just a little bit of privacy will be amazing.
00:36:12Shona had some high praise for your landscaper, Colin Hyatt.
00:36:16Yeah.
00:36:17You see the value of a landscape designer.
00:36:20You've got this little grassy knoll that comes up
00:36:22with a sculpture and lighting up against it.
00:36:25The way the boulders are and the way they've worked with the mounds
00:36:28and how they've made everything just work.
00:36:32Everything's planted to perfection.
00:36:35Marty thinks the new owners of this house
00:36:38will feel very house-proud driving in.
00:36:41That's what buyers love.
00:36:42They roll into the house.
00:36:44It's a massive, massive part of this marketing campaign
00:36:47for all the contestants.
00:36:48Getting that front facade popping on the Domain app
00:36:51is what draws that further inquiry in.
00:36:53I love that the garage door really blends in with it.
00:36:57And I'm sure we're going to see feature garage doors,
00:36:59but because the facade of this
00:37:01and the black alpine feel is so strong,
00:37:05I love the fact they've picked a very simplistic garage door
00:37:08because everything is about the planting of the greenery
00:37:11against that black.
00:37:13Darren thinks it's all great, but not perfect.
00:37:16If you're wanting to secure your home,
00:37:19don't you want to be able to close your gate?
00:37:22What happened to those gates? I saw that.
00:37:24We did. We got them delivered late
00:37:27and then we painted them last night
00:37:29and they just dripped all down.
00:37:31The frost, it was too cold.
00:37:32It was too cold.
00:37:33Too cold.
00:37:34Oh, they've left off two gates,
00:37:36so it can't be a ten.
00:37:37We get that.
00:37:38Yeah.
00:37:39But I tell you what, they've given it a solid nudge.
00:37:41I love it.
00:37:45Landscaping is always important,
00:37:47but in Dalesford it's particularly important.
00:37:49These are garden homes,
00:37:51a very important part of the Dalesford landscape
00:37:54and I would wager whoever wins the landscaping
00:37:59may well win this show.
00:38:01That's it, Em and Ben.
00:38:02What a great three months you've had.
00:38:07Lots of second places, but you've come home strong.
00:38:10Yes.
00:38:11Well done.
00:38:19It's time for you to decide which contestants you think
00:38:21have created this week's winning outdoor space.
00:38:25Just head to the Block website now to cast your vote
00:38:28and don't miss the results a little later in the show.
00:38:37Okay, here we go.
00:38:38I'm going to hand the iPad over.
00:38:39Oh, okay.
00:38:40Rightio.
00:38:41Thank you, sir.
00:38:42I'm not sure what to do with my hands.
00:38:44All right.
00:38:45Do I channel my best Scott camera or do I do?
00:38:47No, no.
00:38:48Shall we come?
00:38:49All right.
00:38:50House two.
00:38:51Han and Can.
00:38:52What another big week, girls.
00:38:53We're working right down to the wire again.
00:38:59This week was BIA.
00:39:02What is that?
00:39:03Business as usual.
00:39:05No, that's BAU.
00:39:10We're continuing our theme with Christian Jenkins
00:39:13who's doing a Japanese inspired landscape.
00:39:15And I just thought, wouldn't it be cool if we had a big Torrey gate above the driveway.
00:39:21Are you literally trying to kill me?
00:39:27So flow estate is a play on the words flow state.
00:39:30We want the inside and the outside to have that flow.
00:39:33So I had to go to Bunnings.
00:39:36They've got like perfect Japanese North coat pottery.
00:39:39Zen water features so that wind.
00:39:42And then we went down to Bromley.
00:39:45We'll take this please.
00:39:46So did you buy anything Japanesey?
00:39:48Yeah.
00:39:49It's an elephant Buddha from Bromley.
00:39:52But you know Buddha's not Japanese, right?
00:40:00We love Christian, but he moves at his own pace.
00:40:03We're going to play around with raked river sand.
00:40:06One on a journey to get to the front door.
00:40:09Um, yeah.
00:40:11Obviously we've run out of budget, but focus is using all of our block bucks and sponsors.
00:40:23And I have my beacon console on site with Anton today.
00:40:27So outdoor lighting.
00:40:28Yes.
00:40:29I know we need entrance lights, of course.
00:40:32So we'll need here.
00:40:33Yep.
00:40:34Here.
00:40:35Yep.
00:40:36Obviously here.
00:40:37Yep.
00:40:38And something happening along here.
00:40:39Yep.
00:40:40Beautiful.
00:40:41To light up the walkways.
00:40:42Yep.
00:40:43Yep.
00:40:45Watching the Tory gate go up.
00:40:47Yeah.
00:40:48It's, it's iconic.
00:40:49It's radical.
00:40:51And we love it.
00:40:52We've finished house two.
00:40:55Woo!
00:40:56We're done.
00:40:57So happy.
00:40:58I'm so exhausted.
00:41:00But we did it.
00:41:02Yeah.
00:41:03So it's okay.
00:41:04I got it.
00:41:05I got it.
00:41:06I got it.
00:41:07I got it.
00:41:08I got it.
00:41:09I got it.
00:41:10I got it.
00:41:11I got it.
00:41:12I got it.
00:41:13I got it.
00:41:14I got it.
00:41:15I got it.
00:41:16So baby.
00:41:17Walking out of your home today, the judges noticed what a beautiful front door.
00:41:18Yeah.
00:41:19Beautiful door handle.
00:41:20Christian Cole just nails it.
00:41:21Did he do the door?
00:41:22Yep.
00:41:23Nails it every time.
00:41:24Another ramp.
00:41:25Great access.
00:41:26Then Shana noticed the name of your house.
00:41:28Flo Estate.
00:41:29What's it called?
00:41:30Flo.
00:41:31Flo Estate.
00:41:32Flo Estate.
00:41:33Doesn't flow.
00:41:34She's feeling the Japan vibes outside, but not so much inside.
00:41:40We talked about that on Friday, didn't we?
00:41:42And Darren didn't love the fencing.
00:41:44I couldn't hate that fencing more.
00:41:47I think that is very harsh and industrial.
00:41:52But Dave Franklin came to your aid saying...
00:41:54You do have what they call Virginia creeper, so it's like potato vine.
00:41:58This is probably one of the fastest growing vines, okay?
00:42:01So by the time we come back at auction time, all of this fence should be covered.
00:42:04And obviously this retaining wall, because the front garden here is set so much higher, so not as usable as house one.
00:42:11However, the privacy factor is a real selling feature for the guests of this house, because they essentially get their own little private courtyard.
00:42:19And that water feature is quite relaxing.
00:42:21So if they've got the doors open, warmer months, that'll just filter into the room and it is quite tranquil.
00:42:26And it goes with that whole Flo Estate brand that they've given the house.
00:42:31This is from Norfolk Pottery.
00:42:32So you're basically ready to put straight in your garden, turn on, you're away.
00:42:36You've got your water feature.
00:42:37But what do we all think about, you know, the elephant in the room?
00:42:41This Japanese arbour.
00:42:47I don't hate it.
00:42:48I know it's pulverising, but it kind of works with this garden.
00:42:53It could be reminiscent of, you know, it could be some film director or whatever.
00:42:56It could be Quentin Tarantino's house, because it looks like it's somewhere from Hollywood, I reckon.
00:43:01Well, not the Dalesford Hills, the Hollywood Hills.
00:43:04Marty thinks it's a big risk.
00:43:07Because that is what you see the moment you come to this home and the moment you walk out the front door, it hits you in the face.
00:43:13When you create something, you do want to create something that you know has a big proportion in the marketplace.
00:43:19The amount of buyers that we will meet in the marketplace that specifically want a Japanese garden are pretty slim.
00:43:26Shana really admires your commitment to it, but she doesn't feel like it really flows with the interior of the home.
00:43:33I absolutely adore that arbour as a grand entrance and I think the Japanese garden, I like the commitment to it.
00:43:39But inside, it's pop. It's a real pop culture sort of feel inside. That just doesn't feel Japanese to me though.
00:43:47Well, the judges also took in the side area you delivered this week. Great way to bring some life to that side of the house.
00:43:53Sorry, am I boring you there Frankie?
00:43:57They then took a turn through the flowing path to the front gate.
00:44:02It's lucky that it's a slow lifestyle here in Dalesford because if you're walking through that front gate, you are meandering along this path for a good 15 minutes until you get to your front door.
00:44:14Dead set, I'd just be doing that. Oh, and my OCD would be going off its head.
00:44:22But Shana really, really liked it.
00:44:24You'll probably get kids coming in and drawing it like Darren is at the moment and doing that.
00:44:27The cat will love it.
00:44:28It's one of those things that you'd come out here with your cup of tea and you'd sort of make a pattern and it's about taking it slow.
00:44:35It's about movement. It's taking in the aspects of the Japanese world.
00:44:39It's about flowing.
00:44:40Dave was your biggest fan this week. He thinks this is a really great garden and had a lot of admiration for Christian Jenkins who worked on it.
00:44:49Okay, it's not your usual landscaping, but whether it ticks Japanese, it ticks Japanese for me.
00:44:55Marty thinks the execution this week is next level.
00:44:58Cannot be denied. The craftsmanship, the way in which they've created this grand entry, they have to get really, really a good score for this.
00:45:06Shana said, a great way for you two to finish your rollercoaster on the block.
00:45:11And you've definitely finished on a high.
00:45:15Oh, I might get some reaction out of them now.
00:45:17Their collaboration with Christian has really worked for them.
00:45:21You know, we haven't always loved their rooms, they haven't delivered properly, but I think what they've worked on with the backyard and the front yard with Christian has really brought them.
00:45:29They've definitely finished on a high today.
00:45:31Absolutely.
00:45:33Well done, girls.
00:45:34Alright.
00:45:35That's it.
00:45:36Hand in hand.
00:45:37Well done.
00:45:40Saturday, the 15th of November is...
00:45:48Mekapi Day!
00:45:50Help Ronald McDonald House Charities support families with seriously ill children.
00:45:54Two dollars from every Big Mac sold on Mekapi Day will go towards RMHC.
00:45:59From all of us here at the block, we support this amazing charity...
00:46:02Mekapi Day!
00:46:03Mekapi Day!
00:46:10Okay, how's Shrebrit and Taz?
00:46:12Yep.
00:46:16This week was bittersweet.
00:46:18If this week was a drink, it'd be a lemon lime bitters.
00:46:22That's good.
00:46:26We have a beautiful Indigenous artwork going on the garage door.
00:46:29But we've come up with the idea to put a photo of us on top of the artwork.
00:46:34Yeah, look.
00:46:36How am I supposed to keep a straight face for that long?
00:46:39People believing that this is actually what we're doing.
00:46:42I'll be fine. You won't be fine.
00:46:46Garage doors are here.
00:46:48I still think that Fordean thought we were joking.
00:46:51And then the door goes on.
00:46:55It's a little part of you like, maybe we'll keep it.
00:46:56Absolutely not.
00:46:59Front yard week, the budget is $20,000.
00:47:01Is that enough?
00:47:03No.
00:47:04That's not enough.
00:47:05Again, I'm back on the tools.
00:47:07This has got a disaster riddle over it.
00:47:09Like, tradies think they're mad smooth and stuff.
00:47:11They're not. They just keep guessing until they get it right.
00:47:13Keep guessing.
00:47:14As long as you act like you know what you're doing, it looks good.
00:47:20So we had discussed planting a crepe myrtle, which we call a hazel tree.
00:47:25We call it hazel's tree.
00:47:27So this is our daughter that we lost.
00:47:29So we planted one for her in our hometown in Perth.
00:47:32A lot of people go through it, don't talk to anyone about it.
00:47:35Yeah, something so common.
00:47:37Like they say one in four, but probably more than one in three women have miscarriages.
00:47:40Hopefully it brings us some good luck.
00:47:41We have started to dig out the dry creek and then we've got mulch deliveries coming today.
00:47:45Garden supply places, these are their busiest days on a Friday, especially with the weather like this as well.
00:47:49But the bird out there, unreal.
00:47:51As you can see, the truck's backed in now and ready to dump off 25 cuba mulch.
00:47:55Final piece of the puzzle is JB Hi-Fi turning up to install the outdoor cinema.
00:47:59To sit out there around the fire, that just gives us a little bit extra leg up.
00:48:02That's going to be unreal.
00:48:04Yeah man.
00:48:05This front yard is the full stop for our block journey.
00:48:07It's exactly where we wanted it to be.
00:48:08Shall we find out?
00:48:09Let's go find out.
00:48:10Let's go find out.
00:48:11Let's go find out.
00:48:12Let's go find out.
00:48:14Grab your hands now, people, grab your hands.
00:48:20Grab your hands now, people, grab your hands.
00:48:33indung выпуск openly
00:48:36For starters, a glass front door when you've got all of that traffic out the front is a very, very odd choice, isn't it?
00:48:48That has to be the first one I have seen in 20 years of being in real estate.
00:48:54I've got a glass front door.
00:48:55Do you?
00:48:56Yep.
00:48:57Thanks, Shel.
00:48:57Thanks, Shel.
00:48:59Speaking of doors...
00:49:00I'm rolling in a binzo.
00:49:03What a garage door.
00:49:04No one has ever done that before.
00:49:06They've got a local Indigenous artist to specifically do that for their garage door.
00:49:11That is an incredible artwork.
00:49:13Dave was very surprised you didn't add any planting up against the corrugated facade.
00:49:19Because look at the front door here.
00:49:21We've got concrete right up to the house here.
00:49:23There's no greenery whatsoever around here.
00:49:26There's not a lot going on.
00:49:28Oh, come on, Dave.
00:49:29There's a lovely grate.
00:49:31That's not great.
00:49:32It certainly draws your eye to it.
00:49:34I think it's just a missed opportunity.
00:49:36This is what you're coming home to every night.
00:49:38One window.
00:49:40You've got some colour bond.
00:49:41You've got all of this stuff here.
00:49:42So it's not fantastic.
00:49:45This, for me, looks like an industrial shed.
00:49:47This does not match the level of luxury that is sitting behind these walls.
00:49:51Marty was expecting more privacy from the guest suite, as this planting is also very sparse.
00:49:57Why not screen this with foliage?
00:50:00You've got essentially a large kitty litter covered in mulch.
00:50:05Shona adores the timber cladding on the gables, but once again thinks you've let it down with the planting.
00:50:12You know, if you have a look at this from here, it's barren.
00:50:15This is then back home in the Pilgrim.
00:50:17It is.
00:50:18It's like going to a mine site.
00:50:19That's what I reckon.
00:50:20There is absolutely nothing here at all that I can even talk about landscape.
00:50:24Okay.
00:50:24Now for some very positive news.
00:50:26The other side of the garden feels much more satisfying.
00:50:30This here is meant to be looking like this.
00:50:33Established trees.
00:50:35Lawn.
00:50:35So much better.
00:50:36Amazing.
00:50:37Than that side.
00:50:37It's a much more satisfying shot.
00:50:39Isn't it?
00:50:40From here.
00:50:40Yeah.
00:50:40Because you've got a lot of greenery in the foreground.
00:50:43You've got the peaks of the architecture.
00:50:45Shona thinks this week's result is very much a budget issue.
00:50:50You've got to flip and twist.
00:50:52That if they knew they had budget issues even by Wednesday, they could have said,
00:50:55look, let's get rid of that and just turf it and just use all the sponsored products.
00:50:59Darren thinks you haven't missed a beat throughout the past 11 weeks.
00:51:03So he was quite surprised that you wouldn't have planned this out better.
00:51:08How did they not know that things were outstanding at this point in the competition
00:51:12when they've run such a tight ship internally with their budgets, with their projects?
00:51:17For the front of your home?
00:51:19Like for the facade of your house?
00:51:21And for a massive, massive prize.
00:51:23Two cars, 50 grand.
00:51:25I mean, it could win or lose this competition.
00:51:29Unless did they get caught out?
00:51:30Because I know that we do have to walk through this gate.
00:51:33And if they've done something that's a little bit more expensive through there,
00:51:38maybe that is where they've been hamstrung.
00:51:41Let's have a look.
00:51:41Let's find a look.
00:51:43Ending on a high around to the back of your shed, they've found something to really like.
00:51:49Complex, is it?
00:51:50Yeah.
00:51:51You've just got to push it, Marty.
00:51:52I don't know what it is.
00:52:02Here we go.
00:52:03Look at that.
00:52:05They've built a little moonlight cinema.
00:52:08That's pretty cool.
00:52:09Yeah, it's lovely.
00:52:10As long as the wind doesn't blow in you.
00:52:13Really good use of this space.
00:52:15It is.
00:52:15It's kind of a dead, dull, nothing kind of area.
00:52:19Marty reckons this is very smart.
00:52:21They've almost done what House 4 did with creating that bocce on the side of the property
00:52:25and gave it purpose.
00:52:26And this here is a real selling feature for the agency marketing.
00:52:30The question is, was it worth putting the expense of the posts, the chairs, the styling
00:52:34to have the facade that lacks any greenery on the structure?
00:52:40It's probably not the right place.
00:52:43Okay, so Britt and Taz, some tough feedback to end on, but I have to remind you that you
00:52:48have won the most rooms this season.
00:52:50Yeah.
00:52:51You've been to the most dinners with me.
00:52:52Yeah.
00:52:53So I'm sure that you should be proud of the house that you've built.
00:52:57And I know that your family at home watching will be extremely proud of the house that
00:53:01you've built.
00:53:02Appreciate it.
00:53:02Considering you've won that many rooms.
00:53:04Thank you, Scott.
00:53:05Okay, that's it, mate.
00:53:19Here we go.
00:53:20Here we go.
00:53:21Jeez.
00:53:22I think you must get exhausted on Sundays.
00:53:24No.
00:53:24Looks easy on the telly.
00:53:25I'm pretty easy today.
00:53:26Look at this.
00:53:26I've got my hands in a pocket.
00:53:28I don't know what to do.
00:53:28Okay, here we go.
00:53:29How's for Sonny and Alicia?
00:53:31And without a single room win.
00:53:33Thanks, Shel.
00:53:34Really?
00:53:36You didn't know?
00:53:37No.
00:53:37No, you haven't won anything.
00:53:38This week.
00:53:46It was the last week on the block.
00:53:50Smart ass.
00:53:54Happy birthday.
00:53:55Beautiful.
00:53:55I did not picture waking up on my birthday on the block, no.
00:53:59I would love a bloody win this week for my birthday.
00:54:02I don't want you to be the only team ever in history not to win a room.
00:54:07That's not funny.
00:54:08Stop laughing.
00:54:09We seem to keep getting pipped because we just don't have that little 1% thing to tick us
00:54:16over.
00:54:16So this week we're putting a big $260,000 caravan in the front with our two driveways.
00:54:23So you can't get your car out until you move the caravan.
00:54:25Yeah, you put your car in first to move the Tarana to move the carpool.
00:54:28Yeah, exactly.
00:54:29Exactly.
00:54:29Quintessential Aussie front yard.
00:54:32We've got the ramp going in.
00:54:36All our trees out the front, we've lined up a little sneaky car to stay in our driveway.
00:54:41We're reversing our caravan in.
00:54:43We're putting it out to the universe.
00:54:44Caravan, car, house.
00:54:47We've had a little bit of money left.
00:54:53And so I make a phone call.
00:54:54I think I'm in the market for something for my front lawn.
00:54:57I do have something in mind.
00:54:59It is a life-size kangaroo.
00:55:03Then I make another phone call.
00:55:04I need some bigger trees.
00:55:06Got some beautiful 200-litre Chinese elms.
00:55:09Oh, that looks sick.
00:55:11How cool is that?
00:55:11I didn't think he'd be up there.
00:55:13Oh, no.
00:55:14Last chance.
00:55:15We've had 12 chances.
00:55:16I'm scared because I don't want to leave a loser.
00:55:19We talk a big game and there's nothing worse than talking a big game and not following through.
00:55:24Because I'm going to make this place your home.
00:55:35Well, Dave, if you're going to do a glass door, that's how you do it.
00:55:38You make it private.
00:55:40See?
00:55:40Already, pots and plants.
00:55:42Already starting to like it.
00:55:43Yeah.
00:55:44That's what they had to do next door.
00:55:46Yeah.
00:55:46It just needed to stop the form work so the concrete didn't touch the house.
00:55:50And you've got a garden bed.
00:55:51Mm-hmm.
00:55:53It's a good start.
00:55:54And those grasses, like we know how big they grow.
00:55:58And that would just make that beautiful flow and texture.
00:56:01And they go so high in interest.
00:56:03But they haven't done it near the door, so it's not in your way.
00:56:05Marty just loves how the little Hampton bricks and Rusty the kangaroo go so well.
00:56:11How good is that?
00:56:12How good is that?
00:56:13Oh!
00:56:14Rusty the kangaroo!
00:56:15That's awesome.
00:56:16Yeah!
00:56:17That's awesome.
00:56:18Oh, I love him so much.
00:56:19Wow.
00:56:20Classic textbook Aussie entry with Rusty the kangaroo.
00:56:23Oh, he's so great.
00:56:24Look at the biceps.
00:56:25They're like yours, mate.
00:56:26Just give me a run for your money.
00:56:28Darren said, doing a sculpture is a tricky decision for a landscape.
00:56:33It can go one of two ways.
00:56:35It can look kind of clunky or harsh.
00:56:39That's brilliant.
00:56:40The facets, the design, the craftsmanship.
00:56:43Well, I do know this artist, okay?
00:56:45So his name is Matt Hill.
00:56:46He has done a lot of sculptures.
00:56:48It doesn't only just sell them in Australia.
00:56:50It's around the world.
00:56:51So this sculpture here could be something that goes up in value.
00:56:54They don't even need to name this place because everyone will know it's the one with the kangaroo.
00:56:59Jayna was smiling.
00:57:00And I know sometimes over the past three months, she hasn't necessarily smiled in your hand.
00:57:04Today, she was loving it all.
00:57:07I love the rawness of that fence.
00:57:10I love the rawness of the bricks.
00:57:12I love the fact that we've got a maple right by the door.
00:57:15They say home.
00:57:16They say romance.
00:57:17They say this is beauty that changes seasonally.
00:57:20And I think this is a garden, even though some people say, oh, it's a bit plain.
00:57:25It ain't plain.
00:57:26It's going to change each season.
00:57:29Darren thought it is such a simple but sophisticated palette.
00:57:32He loves the way it's been zoned as well.
00:57:34It's a step back further than house three.
00:57:38So we actually have more space here.
00:57:40But it feels so much bigger because you've just got this big expanse of lawn on both sides.
00:57:45What I love so much about last week's landscape was it felt like the perfect Aussie backyard at a luxe level.
00:57:53And this does exactly the same job exactly as well.
00:57:57The judges think you have been very clever with your budget here.
00:58:00You've clearly spent the money on the right things.
00:58:02Probably the least amount of plants in here than what we've seen so far.
00:58:07Basically count the trees out.
00:58:08There's probably about ten trees.
00:58:09That's it.
00:58:10There's these beautiful big Chinese elves.
00:58:13You know, they're six metres.
00:58:15I mean, they've only had to put in three trees and all of a sudden we feel like we're in a mature garden.
00:58:20Come auction, I mean, this is all going to be sitting in springtime.
00:58:22They're going to look absolutely fantastic.
00:58:24Shayna noted it's very clever to put the MGU9 in the driveway.
00:58:30I've never seen one of these.
00:58:32Well, nobody's ever seen one of these.
00:58:34It's brand new.
00:58:35Brand new.
00:58:36Wow.
00:58:37And whoever does the best job this week gets to leave it here with their house, which adds value to their sale.
00:58:43That ute may well stay there.
00:58:45Oh.
00:58:46Shayna likes the versatility you offer with the extra driveway.
00:58:50Clever is a word that came up many times in your yard today.
00:58:54That they've put separate gates here and utilised this space and they can park a car in there if they want.
00:59:00But if a buyer comes along and goes, well, I don't want that, that's easy planting.
00:59:04In terms of amenity, having this area and a separate gate and space for a caravan and showing how you could use it just adds value to the house.
00:59:12And as Marty pointed out, if somebody buys your home and doesn't want the caravan, they can very easily sell it off and cover their stamp duty.
00:59:19Like, what a feature that is for the marketing of the home.
00:59:22Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.
00:59:23The only other thing Shayna would like to have seen today is a hedge to screen the chairs outside the guest suite.
00:59:29I would have liked to see something in front of there just a fraction.
00:59:32Like, you know, they are exposed.
00:59:34So just privacy for that guest.
00:59:36I'll tell you what, I'm glad you found a fault.
00:59:38It's pretty hard.
00:59:39Because this is pretty faultless.
00:59:41Yeah.
00:59:42Yeah.
00:59:43Marty reckons what you've delivered is an emotional connection.
00:59:47I feel like I'm standing in a home that has been stood here for five, six, seven, eight, nine years.
00:59:54Yeah.
00:59:55It feels so established.
00:59:56And the houses before that did feel like they were new.
00:59:59There's a soul here.
01:00:00There's a purpose.
01:00:01Also going to probably help sell this house.
01:00:04And also, it's a massive, massive price.
01:00:06Yeah.
01:00:07It looks like House 4 has been an absolute dark horse in this competition.
01:00:10Yeah.
01:00:11Wow.
01:00:12If you've come through at some point, this is a great point to hit your stripe.
01:00:17Sonia and Lisa, that is it.
01:00:19Hello.
01:00:23All yours, mate.
01:00:24Thank you very much, Shel.
01:00:25Well done.
01:00:26Great job.
01:00:28Okay, House 5, Robbie and Matt.
01:00:29Hello.
01:00:30If this week was a musical theatre show, what would it be?
01:00:44Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
01:00:45Because the first part was pretty s*** and the last part of it ended with a bang.
01:00:49And I'd say Cats, because the contestants are a bunch of-
01:00:52Our landscape of Paul Grant, he's so talented and his design work is insane.
01:00:59But on Monday morning, he told us-
01:01:01We've got 34 grand.
01:01:03Outstanding.
01:01:04Sorry, what?
01:01:06No, I'm ready to kill someone.
01:01:09Paul, you know, we give him credit because he wants to finish the job.
01:01:16We just have to go away and work out where we can cut costs.
01:01:19So, Matt and I are just rolling up our sleeves and be Paul's labourers for a couple of days.
01:01:23F***.
01:01:24Mel, did you get that on camera?
01:01:29Two dumb s***s on a couch.
01:01:31Going shopping for a driveway.
01:01:33How are you?
01:01:34Ricky.
01:01:35Hi, Ricky.
01:01:36I'm Matt.
01:01:37Here to do some driveway selection.
01:01:38So, our house is the one on the end there that is that beautiful dark charcoal nearly black colour.
01:01:44So, yeah, we've got a bit of a variety here, but you could go something to contrast the dark cladding.
01:01:48I love this.
01:01:50Alright, let's go there.
01:01:52Done.
01:01:57Today, we got lots of plants.
01:01:59Am I excited?
01:02:00Yes.
01:02:01Yes, I am.
01:02:02I love gardening.
01:02:03I love being outside.
01:02:05I get pulled away to do an interview.
01:02:07Come back and I go to start planting a pot, start to move and dig the dirt away.
01:02:13We've got our water feature arriving from Water Features Direct and it's a huge, I guess,
01:02:28a big dish with a big ramp of water so it pumps through and it's right in line with the front door.
01:02:34What was the word we're looking for?
01:02:35Oh, Feng Shui.
01:02:36Feng Shui.
01:02:37Feng Shui.
01:02:38Feng Shui.
01:02:39Pushing the money into the front door.
01:02:41Feng Shui.
01:02:42Shui.
01:02:43Feng Shui.
01:02:46Yes.
01:02:47описании
01:02:49We are done!
01:02:50Like at dinner.
01:02:51D-U-N!
01:02:52It's been a remarkable 12 weeks.
01:02:54We've learnt a lot and built a beautiful house.
01:02:57And we're very proud of it.
01:02:59We're looking forward to auction day, but until then…
01:03:02until then last judges feedback for the year true down walked in and said oh la
01:03:14la that is a beautiful front door that handle is heaven Christian call again
01:03:20always delivers I agree with Shona Christian has delivered every year is
01:03:25one of the best joiners cabinet makers in the country this is another fantastic
01:03:29looking house yep it's a cracking facade like the James Hardy Bordenbatten is
01:03:34just such an elegant line for me it's like quintessential Dalesford contemporary
01:03:40farmhouse let's talk about the garden well it's a very different garden isn't it
01:03:45like there's no big flat lawns there's no massive trees it's very different
01:03:49Dave Franklin thinks this space has been executed perfectly by Paul Grant I just
01:03:56love how you got this miranda in pathway through here the undulating mounds it's
01:04:00a bit more of a warmth yet than having it just flat and he's got the water
01:04:03feature in the best spot look at that look how it hangs out of the cliffside
01:04:08basically it's not sort of square in there it's beautiful Shona likes the way
01:04:12the boulders have been used as sculptures throughout the garden a lot of the time
01:04:17you have the boulders as a retainer to sort of drive everything together but
01:04:21we've got the boulders here looking like they've just fallen from the sky and just
01:04:25landed like meteorites I just love that how it sort of edges onto the grass
01:04:30yeah Dave also called it probably the most sustainable garden on the block he's
01:04:36really matching this into the burrowed landscape is what he says got a lot of
01:04:40native plants in here everything's pretty much local so this is the garden
01:04:43that actually probably gonna go better than any other garden so very low
01:04:46maintenance very low maintenance is once it starts growing in you really won't
01:04:49need any water as you took it all in Darren said it's probably a 10 out of 10
01:04:53front guard just not tonight hence I haven't said a word yet yeah
01:04:59go for it because I'm underwhelmed and it's not because the garden is
01:05:03underwhelming it's because the planting and the age that they've used and the
01:05:08fact that it isn't the full picture yet I can see once it's done once all of
01:05:13these big mounds go out and we have all the kangaroo paws and all the lovely
01:05:17Australian natives in here it's going to be breathtaking and beautiful but right now
01:05:21there's not enough in here for it to be really stimulating as a native garden
01:05:27Darren could see that the work that has been done is meticulous can see that the
01:05:32craftsmanship and the workmanship is gorgeous but the fact is they ran out of
01:05:37money they've spent a lot of money on the wine cellar and it means they had to
01:05:42use very juvenile plants he thinks the size of the plants probably reflects a
01:05:47dwindling budget he's sure right about that isn't he no cash here Scotty he
01:05:53understands it will be spectacular given time at auction it's going to be all
01:05:58that more developed and in spring it's going to be really really interesting
01:06:01right now today yep it's underwhelming and what are we judging we're judging
01:06:07today the judges were taking their jobs very seriously today because they were
01:06:12all keenly aware of what's at stake as they said the winner tonight could
01:06:19possibly win the block whoever wins today will get fifty thousand dollars off
01:06:24their reserve plus two cars well why don't we all get together go to the
01:06:28farmers arms have a couple beers maybe a few lemonades and a feed and we'll do the
01:06:33scores mate now you're talking great great idea that's it Robbie and Matt not bad for a
01:06:37couple of hairdressers we'll take it thank you all right scores here we go for the
01:06:57last time I'll be back in a sec shell no worries I'll get out of the way love you
01:07:05mate love you too Dave Franklin Emma and Ben you've got a garden that's quite
01:07:14thought out it's actually planted perfectly it's pretty hard to beat
01:07:17and care I don't hate it I know it's polarizing but it kind of works with this gun written Taz it's a
01:07:31nine there's no greenery whatsoever around here there's not a lot going on
01:07:38sonny and a leash these these beautiful big Chinese elms come auction when this is all
01:07:47going to be sitting in springtime they're going to look absolutely fantastic Robbie and Matt this
01:07:54is the garden that actually I'm going to go better than any other garden very low maintenance
01:07:58okay okay there it is okay there it is oh Darren Palmer first and Ben and Ben
01:08:09landscaping is always important but in Dalesford is particularly important these are garden homes
01:08:18you are meandering along this path it's lucky that it's a slow lifestyle here in Dalesford
01:08:30Darren with the big scores Britt and Taz really good use of this space it's kind of a dead dull nothing
01:08:43area so I wish that's brilliant the facets the design the craftsmanship oh my god I feel sick
01:08:58I'm gonna piss my pants Robbie and Matt the craftsmanship and the workmanship is gorgeous the
01:09:07fact is they ran out of money and it means they had to use very juvenile plans nine
01:09:12do you remember when we used to give like sixes yep oh don't worry there's been a few of them
01:09:17Marty Fox I just love this experience of coming out and seeing that driveway it's so grand
01:09:31and can the amount of buyers that specifically want a Japanese garden are pretty slim
01:09:42good Taz this for me looks like an industrial ship this just does not match the level of luxury
01:09:50that is sitting behind these walls sunny and a leash there's a soul here there's a purpose it looks
01:10:02like house falls being an absolute dark horse it's big Vicki's you got a chance
01:10:07Marty's come to the party finally it's been waiting all all season
01:10:16come on Marty Robbie and Matt
01:10:19well it's a very different garden isn't it like there's no big flat lawns there's no massive trees it's very different
01:10:27eight and a half okay I'll see in a sec anyone do the math are you you actually calculating as you go or is it just black out we're half a point ahead I think
01:10:39I don't know okay showing a blaze Emma and Ben you see the value of a landscape designer everything's planted to perfection
01:10:49pan and can it's about taking it slow it's about movement it's taking in the aspects of the Japanese world it's about flowing
01:10:56it's about flowing Britain Taz it's barren if they had knew they had budget issues they could have said look let's get rid of that and just turf it
01:11:04this is a garden even though some people say oh it's a bit plain it's going to change each season
01:11:11Robbie and Matt we've got the boulders here looking like they've just fallen from the sky and just landed like meteorites I just love that
01:11:25oh here we go the winner of week 12 on the block Dalesford taking home two magnificent MG automobiles getting $50,000 off their reserve price
01:11:40thanks to Bunnings is oh here we go by a point it's bloody Sonny and Elise

01:12:13everybody in show it is happy for you thank you you've broken the drought and you've broken it in a
01:12:17big way Sonny and Elise you've also got a 10 from Marty so that means that's 10 grams worth of big
