00:00Previously on the block...
00:02We need to get 237 defects done by Sunday.
00:05Yeah.
00:06As well as the front yard.
00:08Han and Kan found themselves on Struggle Street
00:11after a painfully slow start.
00:14What's happening? Nothing's happening.
00:16Why is nothing happening?
00:17That's our landscape, one rock.
00:20It's minimalism.
00:23Robbie and Matt overspent on their backyard last week,
00:26meaning this week they're broke.
00:28You can use Matt and I at your disposal.
00:30It's more whatever you need us to do.
00:32Britt and Taz have decided to make their final week on the block
00:35all about them.
00:41Tonight...
00:42Thursday, three weeks to go.
00:44No.
00:45Thursday, three days to go.
00:47There may be only a few days left,
00:49but with two MGs up for grabs,
00:51and thanks to Bunnings,
00:5250 grand off your house reserve price come auction day.
00:55There's still plenty to play for this week.
00:57My soul will be destroyed if we do not win on Sunday.
01:00And after 12 long weeks of work,
01:02nerves are on tenderhooks.
01:04I wonder who put that there.
01:07Plus one team faces an uphill battle to finish this week.
01:10Whoa!
01:11Whoa, whoa, whoa!
01:13That hasn't been proved.
01:15That's a dog's breakfast.
01:16I'm actually worried the concrete's gonna go off in this truck.
01:19Oh, my gosh.
01:20What else could go wrong?
01:21Ah!
01:22Ah!
01:23Ah!
01:24Ah!
01:25Ah!
01:26Ah!
01:27Ah!
01:28Ah!
01:29Ah!
01:30Ah!
01:31Ah!
01:32Ah!
01:33Ah!
01:34Ah!
01:35Ah!
01:36Ah!
01:37Ah!
01:38Ah!
01:39Ah!
01:40Ah!
01:41Ah!
01:42Ah!
01:43Ah!
01:44Ah!
01:45Ah!
01:46Ah!
01:47Ah!
01:48Ah!
01:49Ah!
01:50Ah!
01:51Ah!
01:52Ah!
01:53Ah!
01:54Ah!
01:55Ah!
01:56Ah!
01:57Ah!
01:58Ah!
01:59Ah!
02:00Ah!
02:01How are you this morning, mate?
02:04Good. Feeling good, you know. It's Thursday, three days to go, four days to go on this
02:10crazy journey. I know you love hearing that word. But, yeah.
02:14Are you going to miss it when it's all done?
02:16I think I will miss it more when I'm not here. Yeah.
02:19Too early to do that.
02:23No, we've got a lot of work to do. The garage door is... it's done exactly the same way.
02:30It's done exactly what we've wanted it to do.
02:38How good is it? Excuse me?
02:41I love it. It's a piece of art.
02:44I'm going to get one at my own house.
02:46Nah. Hasn't gotten better overnight, sorry.
02:50We have a beautiful Indigenous artwork going on the garage door from Troy Firebrace to the
02:55Jar Jar people. And we've come up with the idea to put a photo of us on top of the artwork.
03:02To hide it.
03:02Drill holes in their eyes and put LEDs.
03:11Do you like it, G? Love it. Love it.
03:13Yeah, see? G likes it.
03:14See? Do you really like it?
03:16Yeah, it's fine. Wow.
03:18I like the earthy tone that goes with the timber.
03:21We figured if we do something too fake, like our faces in red or whatever, people know we're
03:26clearly joking. And we want to make sure people are full. We want to keep them all the way up until
03:32Sunday morning when we peel it off and reveal the real garage door. Keep them going.
03:35So, to avoid anyone copying their idea, Britt and Taz's garage door will go from this to this,
03:44thankfully. But they do have another secret weapon up their sleeve, around the side of their house,
03:51positioned behind their shed. We're going to have an outdoor cinema which backs onto our wine cellar
03:57area. And then there's a full-blown projector and screen and another seating area.
04:02And today, Nathan from JB Hi-Fi has dropped by to figure out the logistics required to bring
04:09House 3's outdoor cinema to life. So, we can't have the projector in the ground, really. You're
04:15just going to have to have it above ground and the post next to it. Yeah, you'd still see something
04:19down there, right? Yep. How far away does a short throw go from the screen? It's three and a half,
04:25four feet away. The small patio, some comfy furniture and a fire pit all centred around an outdoor
04:32cinema. To sit out there around the fire with all the chairs, watch the footy, watch a movie,
04:40you know, hanging out with the kids or, you know, just have the guys or the girls over to watch TV
04:45outside and get a blanket. I think that's like, I think everyone will sort of forget about the sides.
04:50I think that just gives us a little bit extra leg up. Yes.
05:00I'm feeling pumped today. Yeah. I feel like there's good energy. We've got everyone on site.
05:05There's bits happening. Yeah. Things are moving. Yeah. Got some topsoil delivered this morning.
05:10There's a truck of mulch. Yeah, we've got a lot to do. We've got some beautiful hills that we've
05:16built up. With plans to name their home The Hills, Emma and Ben plan to build two hills with a grassy
05:22knoll either side of their driveway, along with two mature bottle trees, several pale boulders and some
05:29extensive timber decking around their entrance and guest suite to complement their elevated position.
05:35Thursday, three weeks to go. No. Thursday, three days to go. Three weeks to go. Three days to go. Yeah.
05:45Well, three and a half. Yeah. It's crazy.
05:52Morning. I am staining the Cypress Post for the Tory gate that's going above the driveway. Because last time
06:02staining them up on a ladder was quite exhausting. So I'm like, if I can get some on now,
06:10hopefully there's just a few little touch-ups. Yeah, it's easier when they're on the ground.
06:16No kidding, because the Tory gate the girls are building this week is absolutely massive. And to
06:22continue their Japanese theme, they're also constructing a Japanese-inspired zen garden.
06:28We're the walking path that snakes throughout. Um, how's Can today? Um, I think Can's fine.
06:37Can's just cleaning up inside. Um, doing a few defects where she can. Yeah.
06:43Is it inside Can, outside Can again today? Or what's the go? Um, I'm not quite sure.
06:48Earlier in the week, House 2's builder, Shan, decided to get Han and Can working separately.
06:53You stay outside, she does inside. And no bickering this week. Because it's not productive.
07:00What's the vibe like between you and Can at the moment? Can and I are fine. Yeah. Yep.
07:08How fancy are you staying with a bit of a rough day? Don't know. We'll stay tuned.
07:21Oh, good morning, Tina and Shayla. How are you? Good morning.
07:31Could I please have a coffee? Yeah. We've just released our new blend with a richer,
07:35rounded taste. It's 100% Arabica coffee beans, and it's also 100% Rainforest Alliance certified.
07:41Yeah. Thank you. I've got my McPops too. You can have chocolate if you want one. Oh, yes please.
07:47Mmm. Yeah. Oh, wow. Look at the feeling. Look at that. Yeah.
07:57This stuff? Very good. Oh, thank you.
08:02How are you guys feeling? Great. I feel good. I've been in the garden potting stuff all day.
08:07I like being outside, so I'm feeling fresh and good. And I feel the complete opposite.
08:13Isn't that meme where the dog's got a house burning around it? He's like, everything's okay?
08:20That's me.
08:23All of this is burning around me. We just don't have enough money to finish. That's probably the biggest issue.
08:29Um, we've probably got about four or five grand worth of plastering to do inside.
08:36A little bit of plastering to do on the veranda. We need to do a ramp and we need a rubber bank.
08:44With no money remaining this week, Robbie and Matt are keeping things simple but charming. Using
08:49plenty of young plants to keep costs down. A few stone boulders and a water feature positioned for
08:55Feng Shui prosperity. I guess we just have to go away and work out where we can cut costs. And we're
08:59sending plants back. We're, you know, we're cancelling labourers. Matt and I are jumping on the tools. We
09:05have to balance our workload. Luckily, I love gardening. I love being outside in the sunshine,
09:11getting my hands dirty. I get pulled away to do an interview. And how are you liking gardening?
09:15I've been looking forward to this week because I can't do much inside. But outside in the garden,
09:26I love it. I'm in my happy place.
09:36Come back and I go to start planting a pot, start to move and dig the dirt away.
09:45You can all yourself. Oh my God. I hate you.
09:54I wonder who put that there. Probably the old snake charmer.
10:00I am literally hanging on by a dead lady's hair at the moment. And you put a rubber snake in a hole.
10:08Oh! It looks so real as well.
10:15What?
10:18Oh!
10:22I'm done.
10:24Oh, you guys.
10:27My greatest joy outside of my son Brooks and breathing is scaring Matt.
10:34Insert compilation of me getting scared here.
10:38Oh, you idiot. Get f***ed.
10:41The water's literally coming in through the window.
10:43No!
10:44You stupid boy.
10:47Let's go.
10:52Dinner's back.
10:57What are you doing?
10:57Oh, you f***ing it.
10:59I knew something was going on because you and you.
11:04You.
11:04I'm sorry.
11:08And I'll never stop.
11:20Um, do you think I should cut my hair off?
11:23How short are you thinking?
11:24A lot.
11:25So here's the thing, right?
11:27Okay.
11:28When people, women cut their hair, some people do it when there's a lot of crazy s*** happening,
11:36like a breakup or something really stressful like this.
11:38I feel like this has just been for nothing.
11:41It's the worst birthday ever.
11:43Sit on it for a few days and if you want me to lob it, I'll lob it.
11:47Be gone, woman.
11:47F***ing today.
11:48You've got f***ing today.
11:49It's very important stuff.
11:50Sounds it.
11:51Like, what are you doing?
11:52I'm just walking up the driveway with your man's handbag.
11:55Whatever.
11:55That's what Han took to the pub last night, is a handbag.
12:01A pallet.
12:03A pallet of emotion.
12:10See how that's on the outer line of each one of those?
12:13Yeah, they're the same distance off the window.
12:15That panel on the right.
12:17Yep.
12:18Can, can you please give me your opinion on this light?
12:20No, I don't care.
12:21Candice, please.
12:22You do get quite stressed and overwhelmed, but I know that Ken gets like that when everything's
12:31basically out of control.
12:33Mm.
12:33You don't get stressed and overwhelmed?
12:34I do too, 100%.
12:36We are very similar in ways.
12:38Don't yell.
12:39Well, don't.
12:39Just ignore me when you walk past.
12:41It's important that we get this right.
12:45Hannah, I've got a million things to do.
12:47Just pick a spot for the light.
12:48I don't care.
12:50You should care.
12:50Is the constant bickering or fighting taking a toll on you guys?
12:57No, the constant, it's not really constant bickering or fighting.
13:01You shouldn't be painting in here.
13:02Just worry about getting it clean for this walk around and then focus out here, please.
13:07Oh, that's what I'm, exactly what I'm trying to do now.
13:09You just said you're painting.
13:10What?
13:11You just said you're painting in here.
13:13I'm trying to clean everything.
13:15I think there is a lot of defects.
13:18There's a lot of painting to do.
13:20There's a lot to finish off.
13:21And there's also very minimal progress happening outside, especially after last week.
13:25It was incomplete.
13:27Maybe just a little bit undercooked with some of the finishes.
13:30That's why you can see that there's no water in the pool.
13:32It was a really rough week.
13:37How do we get this on the right track for the week ahead?
13:40While we're reeling over all the mistakes of last week and looking at everyone's successes.
13:44You just need to calm down.
13:45Come here.
13:46Come here.
13:47Just calm down.
13:48It'll be all right.
13:49But getting like this doesn't help.
13:50I'm f***ing.
13:52What do I do?
13:52Yeah.
13:53Candid.
13:54Candid, seriously.
13:57I think this situation is just extremely stressful.
14:01Everything's out of your control.
14:02I try to get you on the same page.
14:04You're trying to get me on the same page.
14:05100%.
14:05Not always on the same page.
14:07This is stressing me out.
14:08You'll be keeping telling me what to do.
14:09It's lovely to have Lee here and he knows Han very well and how crazy she is and how out of control she gets.
14:19And yeah, look, I'd be nothing without the support of Han, Chan and Lee in House 2 and Christian.
14:26We've all had our moments and all had our overwhelms, but it's really good that, you know,
14:32when I'm falling apart, they can come over and give me a hug and reassurance.
14:39Need a break.
14:42I feel like sometimes I'm in an insane asylum.
14:46What a glowing advertisement for coming onto The Block.
14:49If anyone would like to apply for The Block 2025, call 1-800-CAN-CAN.
14:56I will do your application video for you.
15:02Down the road in House 4, things may be calmer out front,
15:06but there's still plenty of work to do inside, with a defect list as long as your arm,
15:11a hallway to finish and several rooms to tweak, all before the season ends in just over three days' time.
15:19Today, Sunny and Alicia are investing in some artwork to add some pop and colour to their home.
15:24Other rooms.
15:25Sarah from The Block shop calls me.
15:27She's got some artwork for my hallway and my entryway, which I'm thrilled about.
15:32I get three new artworks for our home, actually one of which I've taken back.
15:39We originally had it in our original lounge room.
15:42I absolutely love it and the colourways are everything that are in our home.
15:45So we're going to use that again, we're going to pop that in our entryway
15:48and then I have two more for the hallway.
15:51Thank you, Sarah.
15:52No worries.
15:52Matt's also dropping by The Block shop to pick up an extremely important delivery for House 5.
15:59This has been sent to you. Look, extremely important.
16:04Can I, should I shut my eyes?
16:06Yes.
16:06Okay, you can open now.
16:08Oh my God. It's amazing.
16:12It's beautiful.
16:13Oh, we've got some beautiful art from The Block shop.
16:17We have a piece from Mimi and Jinder.
16:21And do you know what it's called?
16:23What's it called?
16:23Mimi, which means mother.
16:25Oh, I love my mum so much. Mimi, you're coming home with me, doll.
16:30Up the road in house one, Ben's found himself in the midst of a brand new bromance.
16:36That's right. Yeah, Mark from CSR came out.
16:38I could talk your ear off about passive house design.
16:41These are our powered vents. This one in particular is a Maestro Bell.
16:45And they come in all the colours.
16:47Yeah, right. All the colour bond colours. Cool.
16:49For the average Australian home, you'd need about four whirlybirds.
16:54Yeah.
16:54Whereas you can actually replace four of those with one of these.
16:58Oh, really?
16:58Yes.
16:59And that's actually epic.
17:00And they actually have a smart box as well.
17:02Oh, yeah.
17:03They measure humidity levels in the roof as well as heat.
17:06So they'll ramp themselves up or down based on the requirements.
17:09In love of it.
17:10So all you do is you plug in your sensor and then the other end into a power outlet in your roof space.
17:15Couldn't be happier.
17:16It'll operate rain, hail, or shine.
17:18Yeah, clever.
17:19Yeah.
17:19Yeah, how good was that?
17:21What do you think of passive house design, Em?
17:23I completely zoned out then. I had a little micro nap.
17:25Four principles of passive house design. Come on.
17:28Installation, orientation.
17:30Yeah, wrap it up, me boy.
17:33Over in house three, Taz is staving off a budget blowout this week
17:36by getting on the tools himself.
17:39But between you and me, I'm pretty sure he hasn't got the right tool for the job.
17:44What is a jackhammer?
17:45So a jackhammer is like a thing you go with.
17:49I just didn't know what it looked like or where it was.
17:52And then we found it.
17:52And I was like, well, that's big.
17:57This has got a disaster written all over it.
17:59If I plug it in, is it just going to go?
18:01Or do you click a button?
18:02Is that the button click?
18:03There's a trigger.
18:03There's a, yeah, trigger.
18:06Plug it in, mate.
18:08Do you know what a jackhammer is?
18:09Yeah.
18:10I know what it is.
18:11That's all you're using.
18:11You're pretending to act like you knew what you were doing.
18:23Are you good on the jackhammer?
18:25I think the slow-mo footage will paint the picture.
18:39Can you accuse him of being soft anymore?
18:41I can't.
18:42I think this was his hardest day on the block.
18:43He worked very, very hard today.
18:45I was on a jackhammer all morning.
18:46I got back in a good time.
18:47I got back in a good time.
18:48Yeah.
18:48Where were you?
18:54Oh, it was so tough listening to country music.
18:57I was on a jackhammer for the better part of the morning and then did 150 barrows of cement.
19:06I've gone great to everywhere.
19:08That was physically my hardest day on the block.
19:22Tell us which contestants are creating your favourite room.
19:27All you have to do is jump online and vote and while you're there, don't forget to check out
19:32all of our amazing room galleries.
19:46It's a glorious Friday morning here at the block.
19:49And with three days left until my final tools down of the season,
19:53today's the day we start saying our first goodbyes.
19:57Morning.
19:58Hi.
19:59Morning.
19:59Hi, our two favourites.
20:01Good morning.
20:02Hello.
20:03Good morning, Shayla.
20:04Good morning.
20:05We have some little gifts to say thank you for being amazing this whole season.
20:10We appreciate you so much.
20:11And all the five grand you gave everyone.
20:14Now, McAfee Mainstays, Tina and Shayla have helped serve up plenty of magical McAfee moments
20:20across the entire season.
20:22$5,000.
20:25We loved your spa sauna.
20:28Yay.
20:29Thanks, McAfee.
20:31There it is.
20:34Matty and Robbie were a bit salty.
20:37They didn't get any 5Ks this year from McAfee.
20:40Oh, those there that didn't give us five grand.
20:42Hey, Tina.
20:45Thanks for making us look like dicks on TV and celebrate for getting 5K when you gave us $5.
20:50We love...
20:51We say goodbye to Tina and Shayla.
20:52We love Tina and Shayla from the McAfee.
20:55We love them.
20:56We love them.
20:56Thanks for being lovely customers of ours.
21:00It's always a joy to serve most of you.
21:02I don't know how good it is.
21:04Oh.
21:05Joking, joking.
21:07I don't know.
21:08I miss Tina.
21:09They've got a romance going on. She often feels the need to remind me of how good I've got it
21:19He's all yours Tina. He comes with three kids and a mortgage
21:23Ex-wife
21:28It was amazing. We love you all and thank you so much for a great season
21:38Thank you Tina and Shaila are the MVPs of the block village
21:44They mean a lot to us and they're a huge part of the block community Tina
21:47Shaila has working people on the block I think they're just non-stop
21:51That is the best I just put a smile on your face
21:53They're part of the show you can sort of go to them when you need something you want help with something
21:59And they also gave us 10 grand so it's so we love them
22:03We've seen them every single morning for the last 800 days
22:06They give great banter in the morning, and they're really good at reviewing rooms
22:16And there's something that you have to put up on your wall
22:22That's like the best part of all the seasons I've been on if you want Robbie in that signature it's five grand
22:36So I thought I might just show you my new toy the contestants during the week yes
22:47Unbelievably I came in here, and they were all lined up here on my mark where I normally stand
22:53And I stood where they stood and they made a little speech and they presented me with my own wood miser sawmill
22:59They did not as a gift. They did not I did
23:04I was emotional
23:06LX50 it was so nice
23:08I'm serious. What is it it's it's a sawmill yeah
23:12It's like a bandsaw on its side and you can cut posts and do all sorts of things with it well
23:18Congratulations. I wish I was here for said presentation hmm. Should we get stuck in?
23:21Yeah, let's start up at a house one and work our way down last walk around for 2025. That's it. Let's go. Let's do it. Come on Frankie. Come on
23:29Come on
23:35The rolling hills of Downsburg
23:37Hello
23:39Hello, isn't this crazy the size of this yard?
23:42Lovely. It's massive. Unbelievable. Yeah. You got the biggest? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're feeling it right now, aren't you?
23:50Yeah, we've got the last Scotty and Shelley walk around today
23:53They love they love the front yard. They love the the hills that we had created
23:57They were a little bit worried about our two bottle trees
24:03But these plants do they survive in the cold weather?
24:06Apparently they do Colin Colin our amazing landscaper is all over it and he said he's a horticulturalist. Yeah, so he knows his plants
24:14Yes, I'm with you that they're known as an arid. Yeah surviving
24:21Tree because of the water storage factor. Yes. Yes. Can you see the trees shaking?
24:26Look, it's freezing
24:30How are you feeling? I'm feeling good. I'm feeling pregnant. Are you showing now? Absolutely not under high-vis obviously
24:36I can't I can't do this. Look at the size of the tree
24:40Could you get any bigger? No. It's what we call a maternity high-vis
24:43Yeah, it is it is
24:44That just added another layer
24:46I know your block journey journey
24:48It's just crazy
24:50Yeah, what's your worst week and your best week?
24:52I think I'm gonna say both last week worst week and best week was last week last week was nuts
24:58So we have to get rid of all that concrete
25:00And then to pull it off
25:02And then to pull it off
25:04They're back in the game
25:06By half a point, it's Em and Ben
25:08Yes
25:10It kind of made it all worth it
25:12It did, yeah
25:13It really did
25:14It's been a delight to have you here
25:16Yeah, we've loved it
25:17It's getting like it's over now
25:18You've still got two days to go
25:19No, you've still got two days to go
25:20No, you've still got two days to go
25:21No, but you're getting pretty close
25:22Still at the work
25:23Good luck
25:24Thanks guys
25:25Thank you
25:26Good luck Sunday
25:27Yeah, appreciate it
25:28Can't believe it
25:29This is it
25:30This is it
25:32Cheryl, I think that we can just follow this pathway
25:35Well this is to slow us down
25:37To get around the guard
25:38To get us in the mood
25:39Don't rush
25:40This is about taking your time
25:41Sorry
25:46Going slow
25:48Okay, we need just a little cut through here
25:53In case you're in a hurry to go to the toilet or something
25:57We spoke to Christian
25:59And he said that's to slow you down through the garden
26:02So we've come in slow
26:03We certainly did
26:04Not hot
26:05That's it
26:06Hi
26:07Hello
26:08How you doing?
26:09Very zen, very crazy
26:10You girls have gone out on a full limb with this garden, haven't you?
26:13We have
26:14Like
26:15Absolutely, yeah
26:16It's going to be a strong statement
26:17Yes
26:18Yes
26:19From a carpentry point of view
26:20I'm intrigued by the giant posts
26:22What's happening?
26:23Um, so the same as the Tory gates in the backyard
26:26Um, we're going to have one either side of the driveway here
26:29Right
26:30A giant one
26:31A giant one
26:32A giant one to drive through
26:33Scott and Shelley came around and
26:36We didn't say
26:38Didn't say
26:39Many positives
26:40About what we were doing
26:42Your interiors
26:43I know when we started
26:44We sort of said they're very luxe
26:46It's got a very
26:47Melbourne city feel
26:49Yeah
26:50Very polished
26:51And then the outside
26:52Obviously the Japanese influence
26:54You realise that you've narrowed your buyer pool
26:57By about 50% on this one, don't you?
26:59100%
27:00Yeah, I think it did play on my psyche a little bit
27:03When Scott and Shelley mentioned that we were narrowing the market
27:06Getting negative feedback isn't always what you want
27:10But sometimes it's what you get and we're here to be judged
27:13The next time I see you guys is going to be auction day
27:15Yeah, it's wild
27:16That's crazy
27:17Best week, worst week
27:18This is it
27:19This is the end
27:20Take us back on your journey
27:21Maybe the bathroom
27:23Like our main bathroom
27:24When we got that amber resin bath
27:26That was my best week, week three
27:28That was a highlight
27:29Yeah, something I'd always wanted to do
27:30Getting that translucent bath
27:32It was incredible
27:33And then lowest week
27:35Guest bedroom
27:36Just incomplete
27:37You know
27:38The finish line
27:39And it was my birthday
27:40So it was just a double hammer
27:41But it's all been something we're going to miss and cherish forever
27:44It's been incredible
27:45And we're so lucky to have had the opportunity to come here
27:49Having access to all of like these amazing sponsors and trades
27:54And such a large scale project like that's what's been really fun
27:58Like to be able to like create something that we never would have been able to do in our own lives
28:08Do you like it?
28:10She was speechless
28:12Ah
28:14Ah
28:16Ah
28:18Ah
28:19Ah
28:20Ah
28:21Ah
28:22Ah
28:23Ah
28:24Hi Scotty
28:25Shelly
28:26Hi
28:27How are you going?
28:28What's this shirt?
28:29It's your mate's 40th back home
28:31Oh
28:32Oh
28:33I don't think you'll be mates anymore
28:34No
28:35No
28:36Well there's a bunch of people up in Newman wearing the same thing today
28:38Yeah
28:39So they sent us two to wear today
28:40Happy Birthday Shaden
28:41Happy Birthday Shaden
28:42Happy Birthday Shaden
28:43You look like a knucklehead but happy birthday
28:47Look I think everyone is going all out
28:49A river in your front yard
28:50Literally
28:51It's a very niche choice
28:53It's definitely a statement piece
28:55White gate, does that mean you're painting the whole fence white too?
28:57White picket fence
28:58Yeah
28:59Oh you are
29:00You're painting the whole thing
29:01And what do you do when your neighbours have got a black fence?
29:02We'll just start painting theirs as well I reckon
29:04Well let's take a little walk back
29:06What was your favourite memory?
29:07Jumping in a float in me budgies wasn't so fun
29:10Yeah
29:11Who let the dogs out?
29:12Who?
29:13Who?
29:14Who?
29:15Who?
29:16Who?
29:17Who?
29:18Who?
29:19Who?
29:20Well you won it
29:21Yeah
29:22You've been a great couple
29:23You stuck to your guns and supported each other
29:24Yeah
29:25Thanks Scotty
29:26Thanks Scotty
29:27Now before we depart I believe you have a secret weapon
29:28We do
29:29Which has created a lot of controversy throughout the block
29:32And people are saying that you're self-centred and you're self-consumed
29:35What are you talking about?
29:36And you're egotistical
29:37What are you talking about?
29:38Here we go
29:39Oh Jesus
29:40Alright
29:42Got the guns out
29:43That is a statement
29:44Got the guns out
29:45That is a statement
29:46Do you like it?
29:47She was speechless
29:48Look we
29:49I actually don't know what to say
29:52She was just choking on her own words
29:57It's very questionable
29:58I didn't even want to show her because I didn't even want her to think that of us
30:11Good luck eh
30:12Well done
30:13See you at auctions
30:14See you at auctions
30:15Thank you
30:16She was stressed out she was like no
30:20I haven't seen her like that
30:21No
30:27Hello
30:28Hello
30:29Hello Tim
30:30I'm going to have to apologise for my friend here because she's just come from three
30:33And she's a little bit flabbergasted by the garage door
30:37It's good for us because we'd love a win this week
30:41Can you imagine being the only couple in block history to never win a room?
30:45No
30:46We're not imagining it
30:47We're not entertaining it
30:48It's not happening
30:49That would be really
30:50Hence the reason I've been encouraging that photo next door all week
30:53Tell them how good it is
30:54Leave it
30:55I can't believe we didn't think of it ourselves
30:57Oh spewing
30:59I'd love to see my head blown up on a garage
31:01I'd like to see my three chins blown up on a garage
31:05Speaking of your advice Chelle
31:07I'd love to take you inside
31:08We've been tweaking
31:10Okay
31:11bits and pieces
31:12And I'd love your opinion on the height of something inside
31:16Yeah last Scotty and Shelley walk around
31:18So you'd be mad not to listen to the last piece of advice they're going to give you
31:21This is the question Chelle
31:23I was sort of thinking do we line up with this
31:25Mm-hmm
31:26It's a beautiful piece
31:28Yes I know I love this piece
31:29Yeah
31:30You come and stand with me and boys you lift it up for us
31:32This is what we originally
31:33That's about it
31:35That's pretty good
31:37Oh yeah
31:38That looks pretty good to me
31:39I love that your eye line should be in the middle of the painting
31:42Oh well that's about middle then isn't it?
31:43Yeah
31:44Well this has been real fun
31:46Can we talk about the front yard now please?
31:48Okay
31:49Alright
31:50Let's go
31:51Do you know what?
31:52I'm loving your amenity and your functionality
31:54Yeah
31:55I love that separate entrance
31:56You guys are so incredibly practical and it shows just I guess your experience in life
32:03That everything works the way it should
32:04Can you show me they're old?
32:05Yeah
32:06Everything functions the way it should
32:07That's okay
32:08That's been said before
32:09No they're smart
32:10Yeah look they sort of give us the advice that we're doing everything right but we obviously
32:16have been coming a bit short
32:18Everything about this house is liveable and comfortable like everything works as it should
32:23Yeah
32:24But there's not that moment that the judges are looking for
32:27Scotty and Shelley they've given us advice over time and we sort of get it when they say
32:31it like yes our yard is beautiful and lovely but you need to crank that notch just a little bit
32:37I'm looking forward to in 10 years time series 31 Shel
32:41Yep
32:42That us coming along to your third wedding
32:46When invited to that wedding
32:48Was that your most memorable moment on the block or?
32:51That was definitely one of them yeah
32:55Oh winning the caravan you burst into tears you did?
32:58I did
32:59I'm so happy
33:00Alright
33:01Yeah I'm nearly bursting into tears thinking of it
33:04Dare we ask you what your lowest point has been?
33:06Lowest point
33:07We had a pretty low Monday this week actually to be honest
33:09Yeah Monday was pretty down and out
33:11That was my birthday and it wasn't the most memorable
33:15And don't don't stress about the non-room wins that doesn't matter
33:18Now you're going to win this one so it's all good but you just got to get some wow factor in here
33:22I can only wish you luck
33:23Thank you
33:24Love you you've done a great job
33:25Thanks guys
33:28Hey boys
33:29Scotty, Shelley
33:30Wow
33:31You've got wow factor
33:32Yeah you do
33:33Just you two
33:34Just like this
33:35Not you at all
33:37The garden
33:38Yeah they do
33:39No the garden's beautiful
33:40Long story short we threw everything we had last week and we were super proud and we wouldn't change a thing
33:44No good for you
33:45And now you have
33:46That looks great
33:47Thank you
33:48Zero coin
33:49Zero coin
33:50You've got mounds of mulch which actually looks quite beautiful
33:51It's going to evolve
33:52It's going to look incredible by auction day
33:54Look at that it just got turned on
33:56Shelly said at the end of the day it's just a really beautiful garden and that's all we can do
34:01We've just got a beautiful front yard and I think that's great
34:05Best day worst day
34:07Um best day would probably be the triple tens I cried
34:14I couldn't agree more
34:15With a perfect score
34:17Of 30 out of 30
34:24Getting that crazy idea out on the table and then it coming to life
34:27That's awesome
34:28Yes that's why you've got no money
34:29Of course
34:30Worst day
34:31Oh
34:32Worst day
34:33The bedhead challenge
34:34That was heartbreaking
34:35Because it just kept going south didn't it
34:37Yeah
34:38At every turn
34:39Yeah
34:40And you performed together as mates
34:43Really well supporting each other
34:45And we're in awe of your friendship
34:47And in awe of your efforts
34:49Thank you
34:50As well you've done an amazing amazing job
34:52I'd like to take this moment to thank everybody for supporting me
34:55That's enough yeah yeah yeah yeah
34:56I'm stood still
34:57See you at auction
34:58See you at auction
34:59See you guys
35:02It's really quite special
35:04So it's sad to see it finish
35:06But also great that we never have to do it again
35:09She said see you on auction day
35:11And you're like aww
35:13I'm not going to see her for a while
35:14Shelly
35:15She's just such a kind soul
35:17We love her
35:20Scott's good too
35:21Of course he is
35:22But he's a different role
35:23He's more like your father
35:24She's more like the cool auntie
35:26Mm
35:27That sneaks you a six pack of beer when you're 16
35:30Well that was fun
35:33It makes me a little teary when we finish
35:35Yes
35:36Well thank you Shel for coming every Friday
35:38I absolutely love it
35:39Thank you for having me
35:40Yeah it's great fun to be with you
35:42But I don't know if you're aware on Sunday night is our 1,000th episode
35:50And it's the end of series 21
35:51It is
35:52And I feel it would be very remiss of me if I did invite you
35:56I'd love you to come on Sunday and do the feedback and the judging with me and we'll do it together
36:02That would be lovely
36:03That would be lovely
36:04A thousand episodes
36:05Yes
36:06Oh my gosh
36:07And we'll do that one together
36:08I thought you'd never ask
36:09Thank you
36:10That would be lovely
36:11It's Friday morning of Front Yard and Facade Week here at The Block
36:21Over in House 4
36:22Sunny and Alicia are plotting some last minute moves to try and secure a maiden victory this week
36:28Is winning this week more crucial than ever?
36:33This 100% my soul will be destroyed if we do not win on Sunday
36:39We've had a little bit of money left so we just figure it's no good keeping it in the bank
36:44We might as well just spend every last cent
36:46And so I make a phone call to Athan from Matt Hill Projects and he deals with lots of different sculptures
36:52Lots of different artists
36:53Hi Athan I'm calling you as I hear you represent some sculptors
36:59And I think I'm in the market for something for my front lawn
37:04I feel like I'm just missing my little wow factor
37:07Okay so I do have a life-sized kangaroo
37:11So as I'm on the phone to him he texts me a photo
37:14Oh wow
37:15And it's made out of geometric shapes
37:18Do you know what Athan? That's so perfect
37:21It was like it was meant to be
37:23Thanks so much Athan, appreciate it
37:25Bye
37:26Bye
37:27Then I make another phone call
37:28I need some bigger trees
37:30And it just so happens
37:31Alicia still has plenty of free equity up her sleeve
37:34Thanks to winning the tradie games a few weeks back
37:37So we won 10 rand worth of trees
37:39Champs, champs
37:41Hey Damien
37:42I have some ornamental pears already planted
37:45But I feel like I need something a little bit larger
37:48A bit more of a wow
37:50Yeah, no problem
37:51Got some beautiful 200 litre Chinese elms
37:54That are probably five metres and really good spread and perfect specimens
37:59Oh yes, perfect
38:00So I'm going to invest in three Chinese elm trees just to really set our yard off
38:06So they're the trees
38:07Yep
38:08Chinese elms
38:09And then our new Kangi
38:10Oh that looks sick
38:11How cool is that?
38:12I didn't think he'd be upset
38:13That's pretty sick
38:14Sonny and Alicia have designed the quintessential front facade this week
38:19With sprawling grassy lawn, a row of ornamental pear trees
38:23And they'll be the only house on the street with a dual driveway
38:27So now with the last-minute addition of three mature Chinese elms
38:31Combined with their magnificent life-size kangaroo sculpture
38:34Could it be enough to get them their very first win of the season?
38:38We have to win
38:40Yeah, so the big something is over here
38:42And then the little something's over there
38:44That's not a little something
38:45That's our wow
38:46Yeah
38:47So I thought it was only appropriate that we named it MG
38:50MG?
38:51Yeah, sweet
38:52You're welcome
38:53Large and expensive mature trees and sculptures
38:56Might be the order of the day in house 4
38:58But up the road in house 2
39:00Today is fast becoming all about concrete
39:03Ah, Christian's got a lot on today
39:06We've got our concrete being poured
39:08So we've got to prep for that
39:09Do you think you'll be ready for the concrete?
39:11I have no idea
39:13Today Han and Kan have two areas to concrete
39:16A walking path
39:18Which snakes through their zen garden
39:20And also a concrete slab out the back of their shed
39:23Which will become part of an extra outdoor entertaining area
39:27We love Christian
39:29He is such a visionary
39:31He's a creative
39:33But he moves at his own pace
39:35And he moves in his own direction
39:37And he knows what's happening
39:38But we might not know what's happening
39:40What time is the concrete truck coming?
39:42Oh yeah, so Heidelberg concrete have said that the concrete truck will be mid-morning
39:48Okay
39:49Is it a lot of work?
39:51No, it's all fine
39:52Yeah
39:53Ready?
39:54Yeah, yeah, of course
39:57I think they're setting up Rio and stuff at the moment
39:59And then
40:00The concrete's here, that's all
40:01Where is it?
40:02So I'm like
40:03The truck's down there waiting to drive up
40:04Oh, it must be waiting for them, yeah
40:06And down that side for starters
40:20What are we pouring?
40:22Whoa
40:23Yep
40:24Whoa, whoa, whoa
40:25That hasn't been proved
40:26Yes it has
40:27From who?
40:28G-Mac and everyone's seen it
40:30No they haven't
40:31Yes they have
40:32No they haven't
40:33No more
40:37Just walking up the street
40:38I've seen a concrete truck at house 2
40:40I'm seeing wheelbarrows going to the back of the shed
40:43We haven't even signed anything off at the back of the shed
40:45The framework and steel mesh were down
40:48Prepped for the concrete
40:50But there needed to be more meshing in there
40:52It needed to meet each angle and side of the thing
40:55So there was a lot to be done
40:57That's a dog's breakfast
40:58No, he can't pour it
40:59No more barrows
41:00And what's wrong with it?
41:01Why?
41:02What's wrong with the preparation for this lap?
41:04What's wrong?
41:05What's right with it is the question
41:07There is nothing right about that Rio that's been installed
41:11Who inspected it?
41:12No one
41:13Oh I thought everyone was across it
41:14Man
41:15No one's inspected it
41:16What have we got?
41:17Nothing's over
41:18Look at this
41:19Nothing's overlapping
41:20That's nearly the only spot
41:21Oh I can drop some laps in now
41:22Why didn't you just put a full sheet in there?
41:24House 2's already behind everyone
41:26And now this is a huge delay
41:27I'm actually worried the concrete's going to go off in this truck
41:31How long until that starts going off?
41:34I'm worried there's going to be another hour
41:36Another hour?
41:3825, 35, yeah okay
41:41We've got about 30 minutes until this starts going off
41:43Yeah
41:44The longer the mesh rectification took
41:48The more likely the concrete was going to go off
41:52And then we would have to pay for five cubes of concrete
41:56Let alone the damage to the truck
41:59I think let's rip all that up from that square
42:01This whole square
42:02Yep
42:03Rip it up, put a full sheet with one overlap
42:04Nice and neat
42:05And then we'll just use these to patch it
42:06Yep
42:07Alright we've got a full sheet
42:09Three days to go
42:10I just don't know why we're even talking about this
42:11I think that's alright
42:12And Dan you just said there's 15 minutes before the concrete in the truck goes off
42:19Well he said there was half an hour about 15 minutes ago
42:22Before that starts going off
42:23Unfortunately before they get the green light to proceed
42:27Site boss Aidan has found yet another problem
42:30It's only 75 mil thick
42:33Just one thing after another
42:35Like 90 you go oh yeah maybe we're close
42:38But we're 70, 80 mil for sake
42:41Like 60
42:45Some of this is 60 mil thick
42:50Are you guys starting to feel like you're cursed?
42:52Or there's an element of bad luck floating around house 2?
42:55Yeah
42:56I think at this point it's feeling like oh my gosh what else could go wrong?
43:00Ah
43:02Ah
43:03Ah
43:04For country charm and Dalesford drama you want the official block podcast
43:10This year we are doubling down
43:12So hear hot takes from the judges after Sunday room reveals
43:15And exclusive interviews with your blockheads on Wednesday night
43:18Catch it on 9 now or wherever you get your podcasts
43:21Well here we are folks
43:23Late Friday day 85
43:25Closing in on the end of 12 long arduous weeks
43:29With 121,000 minutes down and less than 2,000 minutes of competition remaining
43:35The girls in house 2 find themselves once again in deep waters
43:40Leave all the boxing and I'll just come up again with the boxing
43:43Yeah
43:44Yeah
43:45Get your boxing up
43:46No worries
43:48That whole framework needed to be lifted 25 mil higher
43:52To reach that 100 mil clearance so that all needed to be redone
43:55You can start pouring that back bit so I can get the conch into there
43:58And then
43:59Yeah
44:00Back bit only
44:01I'll come back in a few minutes
44:02Yep
44:03Alright
44:04That's all right
44:05I can just concentrate on one spot like we're everywhere
44:06We should just be going there, there, there, then back to here
44:08Right
44:09F*** me
44:10Told ya
44:11Clowns
44:12Yeah, Friday was absolutely chaos
44:13Like
44:14After we'd fixed the mesh
44:16We were all on wheelbarrows
44:18Holding that in down to the shed
44:20Down the winding path
44:22Trying to get it in as quick as possible before it went off
44:25So, Rio in, Rio out
44:27It's all fixed now
44:28But
44:29We're getting there
44:30It's all right
44:31Over the fence in house three
44:33Things are looking a little more harmonious
44:35With most of their labour intensive outdoor work already complete
44:39Britt and Taz are preparing to plant their very last tree of the season
44:43And it's a rather special one
44:45So we had discussed planting a crepe myrtle which we call a hazel tree
44:51We call it hazel's tree
44:52So this is our daughter that we lost
44:55Um
44:56Pretty late on
44:57So we planted one for her in our home town in Perth
45:01It's a tree that we planted when we had our miscarriage for our girl that we called hazel
45:06We've spoken about hazel many times
45:08And you know, we're family, we're friends
45:10And now with the Australian public
45:12We're big advocates for coming out and speaking about
45:15Miscarriages
45:16Still want
45:17Infant death
45:18Yeah
45:19To be able to start those conversations with people
45:22Um, I think it's really a big thing
45:24A lot of people go through it, don't talk to anyone about it
45:26Yeah, something so common
45:28Like they say one in four but probably more than one in three women have miscarriages
45:32It's just something that we want to do and continue to do and continue to talk about
45:36Um, like Danny and Dan do really really well
45:39Dan and Danny really lead the charge as well with coming and telling their story as well
45:43To be able to speak about it in such a public forum is something I'm really proud of
45:50Hopefully it brings us some good luck
45:52Down the road in house five, Robbie and Matt are about to receive a couple of surprise visitors
45:59Knock knock
46:01Hello
46:02Oh hey girls
46:03Hello
46:04Nice to meet you
46:05I love it
46:06I love it
46:07Yep, it's block all-stars Maddie and Charlotte
46:09Who won big down in Phillip Island last season
46:123.5 million
46:14What?
46:15What?
46:16You just won the block
46:19Wow
46:20Welcome to our backyard
46:21I'm kind of blown away
46:22This is wild
46:23She's big and beautiful, hey
46:24So we got the highest points
46:25But didn't win
46:26House one had a gnome
46:28With a bonus point
46:29Secret gnome
46:30We know that feeling
46:31It's the worst feeling
46:32It killed us because we put our heart and soul into this
46:34A secret gnome
46:35Yeah
46:36But you know what?
46:37Like you still won
46:38How much did you spend out here?
46:39This looks like you spent a lot of money out here
46:41Oh yeah
46:42I don't know if you heard, every house is exactly the same
46:44So week one we were like, how are we going to be different to everyone else?
46:47Yeah
46:48So we came up with an idea to do an underground wine cellar
46:51Oh my gosh
46:53Whoa
46:54Awesome
46:55This is this crazy idea we had
46:57We topped up the windows and we had a huge fence
46:59And no one picked it up
47:00Not one person picked up
47:01We kind of did that too
47:02We didn't tell anyone that we had an external access
47:04And we had a guest retreat
47:06And everyone at judging
47:07You should have seen their faces
47:08They were like
47:09You need a point of difference
47:11It will make the difference at auction day
47:13Someone will come in and love this
47:14Our end goal is the auction
47:17Our end goal is to produce the most premium home on the street
47:21Yep
47:22But there's a couple down the other end of the block
47:24Who just last week beat the boys at their own game
47:27How are you guys going?
47:28Yeah, we're really good
47:29You guys are looking good
47:31Yeah, isn't it great
47:32You guys should be so proud
47:34It looks so awesome
47:35Thank you
47:36I hear you have a wine cellar
47:38We do
47:39Come on the tour
47:40A bit of a theme this year I hear
47:41Last week we took the win off the boys
47:43We did feel bad playing the gnome
47:45But as if you wouldn't play it
47:47We were half a point behind
47:48I didn't feel bad for very long
47:50So this is our cellar
47:52Wow
47:53In here
47:54Oh my goodness
47:55It's beautiful
47:56It's beautiful
47:57I love that
47:58Yeah
47:59Yeah, so this was our reveal for Backyard Week
48:01Yeah
48:02And we had a secret gnome
48:03How good?
48:04And so we dropped that
48:05Took out the win
48:06We took out the win
48:07I love it
48:08Yeah, how good was that?
48:09It was a sneaky win
48:10But it's a win
48:11Back over in house 2
48:13After a mammoth effort today
48:15Han and Kan's team have finally laid all their concrete
48:19But now they're about to move on to an even bigger job
48:22Their big Tori gate's about to come up
48:24Get an elicit with the Matatu
48:26Get it in position up there in the holes
48:29And use the concrete that's left over to install it
48:33If anything goes wrong, this was all Dan's idea
48:36Dan's got the paintbrush ready just in case
48:39Watching the Tori gate go up
48:43Literally felt sick to my stomach
48:45Is it going to break it?
48:47Keep coming, keep coming
48:49My heart was in my bloody throat
48:51Ugh
48:53I feel like I'm going to pass out
48:56Ugh
48:57Oh
48:58Surely it's widened off
49:00Does it look too narrow?
49:02Yeah
49:03It does
49:04Should just have clearance
49:07Do you want to unscrew it?
49:10Yeah, you might have to unscrew it
49:11Yeah, that's alright
49:12It looks like it's got heaps on that side
49:25Scary, very scary
49:26I'm just
49:28Just feel a little bit sick
49:30Right now
49:31We're all standing around like
49:33Oh my god
49:34What's going to happen?
49:35And I was like in my head
49:36And I was like
49:37Yep, something's going to happen
49:38Because that'll just be the trend for the day
49:41And things are going to snap
49:43Or the woods are going to snap
49:44And they're going to fall
49:45There's a lot of work that's gone into it
49:48Anyway, it went in
50:00Thanks for all your hard work too
50:02It was epic
50:04It was awesome seeing such a massive structure erected
50:08I just don't get it
50:11I know everyone's a little delirious
50:13It's been 12 weeks
50:14But have they lost their mind?
50:17It's impressive, isn't it?
50:19I've worked it out
50:20It's the entrance to Jurassic Park
50:22You know that thing as they go to the gates
50:24Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do
50:29Yeah, very odd
50:33The arbor's strange
50:34Come, stop doing that
50:37I just don't
50:39I just don't think it fits
50:41I don't know, judges might love it
50:53Sunday night
50:54Last full day, 24 hours of filming
50:59We're pretty much calling this
51:01The last day on the block
51:02Yeah
51:03Pan and Cairns
51:04Concrete path problems continue to bite
51:07This walkway
51:09The hardener he put on it
51:11Is a 24 hour one
51:13He's washed it off too early
51:14The judges will probably notice it
51:16But more importantly, the buyers
51:17That's what I'm worried about
51:19Um
51:20Have Emma and Ben bitten off more than they can chew this week?
51:22Looking around
51:23Still got a lot to do
51:24We're feeling a little stressed
51:2624 hours to go
51:27There's still a lot of decking to do
51:29They're building steps as well
51:31Yeah
51:32Yeah
51:33Wow
51:34Steps coming down either side
51:35Wow
51:36Matt finally lets us know what he really thinks
51:39About his fellow competitors
51:41Let it rip
51:42Boring
51:43Get some personality and something fun to say
51:47And for our 1000th episode
51:49Shelley joins me for the first time
51:51Well hi
