00:02:45I'm struggling to get up.
00:02:46Are you alright?
00:02:47Do you know what?
00:02:49I've really enjoyed getting to know them and meeting them
00:02:52and Can is probably one of the funniest people we've ever met.
00:02:57Is there any possibility of a little beverage you know?
00:03:03Literally anything that's going to lubricate my throat.
00:03:06Britt and Taz.
00:03:08Two cameras, master interview, the last one.
00:03:11Britt and Taz.
00:03:12Britt and Taz.
00:03:15Bop.
00:03:16Sweet as pie.
00:03:19Britt's calculated.
00:03:21Love her, but she's playing a game.
00:03:24Taz is just here for the ride.
00:03:26Who have we got?
00:03:27Sunny and Lee.
00:03:28Final master interview.
00:03:32This is us.
00:03:33Oh, scream, scream, yell, scream.
00:03:38They're my favourite people I've ever met.
00:03:40I love them.
00:03:42She is called a spade a spade, but don't cross her because she'll throat punch you.
00:03:49Absolutely.
00:03:50And then we've got this one.
00:03:51Steals your breakfast, eats your breakfast.
00:03:54Makes you come on a show that you don't know and then you fall in love with it and changes your life.
00:03:57Made me fall in love with it.
00:03:58He got me on a TV show after a decade of asking me.
00:04:01And do you know what?
00:04:03I've loved the entire experience.
00:04:05We're just over 27 hours until tools down on front yard and facade week.
00:04:14It's dawning on our teams that it's the countdown of last.
00:04:18Last pre-start meeting.
00:04:20Last room reveal.
00:04:22Last tools down.
00:04:24And last judging.
00:04:26One more day to make or break a block dream.
00:04:31Sonny.
00:04:32What's happening?
00:04:3324 hours to go on the block.
00:04:34Can you believe it?
00:04:35Not really.
00:04:36No.
00:04:37It's pretty surreal when you first rock up here.
00:04:39And it's pretty surreal when you know you're going home.
00:04:40This is the last chance.
00:04:41We'd hate to walk out of here without a win.
00:04:42And if that happens, we'll have to deal with that.
00:04:43You know, that's part of the game.
00:04:44Morning everyone.
00:04:45Morning dream man.
00:04:46Day 86.
00:04:47This is our last pre-start.
00:04:48No more.
00:04:49Well, we will wake up.
00:04:50We will wake up.
00:04:51Day 86.
00:04:52Day 86.
00:04:53This is our last pre-start.
00:04:54No more.
00:04:55Well, we will wake up.
00:04:56Day 86.
00:04:57Day 86.
00:04:58Day 86.
00:04:59Day 86.
00:05:00Day 86.
00:05:01Day 86.
00:05:02Day 86.
00:05:03Day 86.
00:05:04Day 86.
00:05:05Day 86.
00:05:06Day 86.
00:05:07Day 86.
00:05:08Well, we will wake up early tomorrow.
00:05:10But no more listening to GMAC at 7am.
00:05:13It's definitely challenging.
00:05:14Doing this show.
00:05:15It's really hard.
00:05:16Is one of the hardest things that we've done in our lives.
00:05:19Last full day.
00:05:2024 hours of filming.
00:05:22We're pretty much calling this the last day on the block.
00:05:26Yeah.
00:05:27I think it's fair to say that.
00:05:28Last day on the block.
00:05:29And we're feeling okay today.
00:05:31I think it's one of those things that's a bit bittersweet, isn't it?
00:05:34Like, you're sad to be leaving but you're so happy because you're exhausted.
00:05:36You miss home.
00:05:37You want to go home.
00:05:38But, you know, it's sad to be saying goodbye to this journey.
00:05:41For me, it's been lovely to have met you guys.
00:05:44Worked with you.
00:05:45And all the rest.
00:05:46Yeah, there's a lot going through our heads right now.
00:05:49We've still got our eyes on the prize.
00:05:51We've still got a lot of work to do.
00:05:52But also, it's the last Saturday ever.
00:05:54I think the emotions will hit us tomorrow.
00:05:57Once it's all over.
00:05:58Because we know how much we've got to do today.
00:06:00And today's just another day on the block.
00:06:02It's a 17-hour work day today.
00:06:04And, um, well, just a reminder.
00:06:08Come Monday, you're all dead to me.
00:06:11We love you too.
00:06:13I'm feeling very sad, actually.
00:06:17I don't want to leave.
00:06:20Trying to think about it.
00:06:22Yeah.
00:06:23I'm going to miss it.
00:06:25I've enjoyed it.
00:06:26It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.
00:06:28But, yeah.
00:06:30Aww.
00:06:31Today is going to be the biggest day ever for us on the block.
00:06:35We are going to be working down to the line.
00:06:38Hannah and I know what position we're in.
00:06:40We've seen the other houses.
00:06:42Hannah and Can are way behind on their Japanese-inspired garden
00:06:47that will feature a massive torii gate, raked pebbles,
00:06:50tropical plants and palm trees,
00:06:53plus a relaxed outdoor setting at the side of the house.
00:06:57But right now, that feels a long way away.
00:07:01Yeah, we'd better get some water flowing
00:07:03and get our floaties on because, um, we're about to drown.
00:07:07House two might be in over their heads,
00:07:10but it's what's over everyone's heads
00:07:12that's getting all the attention.
00:07:14What the f*** is going on here?
00:07:19Oh, my God.
00:07:21Oh, my God.
00:07:23That's...
00:07:24It's not very subtle.
00:07:26That's mental.
00:07:27Um, I'm glad it's not in my house, but...
00:07:31Yeah, I feel like someone in their team needs to just
00:07:34take the reins and be like...
00:07:35Slow it down.
00:07:36I just blew up.
00:07:37I've worked it out.
00:07:38It's the entrance to Jurassic Park.
00:07:44Where's that concrete path go?
00:07:46To get there, you've got to walk 4K that way.
00:07:50Do a U-turn jump back.
00:07:52You know what?
00:07:53It's the last day on the block.
00:07:54It's sunny.
00:07:55I'm feeling good.
00:07:56I reckon everyone here could do with some food.
00:07:57So I'm just going to order 10 McMuffins, 10 hash browns.
00:07:59And it's going to get delivered right to the front door.
00:08:00Even better.
00:08:01What are you doing?
00:08:02What?
00:08:03I can smell you.
00:08:04Yeah?
00:08:05What?
00:08:06I can smell you.
00:08:07Yeah?
00:08:08What?
00:08:09Mmm.
00:08:10Oh, that smells like breakfast.
00:08:11Do you want some?
00:08:12I'm never going to...
00:08:13I'm doing a little McDelivery.
00:08:14Oh, McLove you.
00:08:15Thank you.
00:08:16Yeah, I'll come up.
00:08:17I'll come up to your house.
00:08:18In house 4, Sunny and Alicia seem to be very chill despite what's on the line this week.
00:08:35These last 24 hours are the most important.
00:08:39I think out of everything we've done winning the caravan and now this, these are probably
00:08:42the two most important scores that you can get for the block.
00:08:46Sunny and Alicia are the only couple that have not won a room this season.
00:08:50Our sole focus is winning this week.
00:08:53We cannot go home not winning a room.
00:08:57And they're throwing everything at it, including three secret weapons.
00:09:01A second driveway, three mature trees and a massive custom kangaroo sculpture that looks
00:09:08like this.
00:09:12Hang on.
00:09:13Hang on.
00:09:14How about something with a bit more gravitas?
00:09:16Much better.
00:09:17Wow.
00:09:18He's huge.
00:09:19That's so good.
00:09:20I think he's 2.3 metres and...
00:09:22Look how sick that.
00:09:23Yeah.
00:09:24He's a beast.
00:09:25That's it.
00:09:26That's so cool.
00:09:27What a weapon.
00:09:28So good, mate.
00:09:29All yours.
00:09:30Thank you.
00:09:31We've named him MG.
00:09:32Why have you called him MG?
00:09:33Because MG's on offer this week.
00:09:34So MG the kangaroo.
00:09:35Here we come.
00:09:36Not only does this week's winning team get 50 grand off their reserve, but they also win
00:09:41an MG for the house and an MG to take home.
00:09:43And having already won a $260,000 caravan to include with their house sale, they might like
00:09:44to take something home with them.
00:09:45I'd love to be able to ring my mum and tell her that she's got a new car coming her way.
00:10:10All right, Sonny and Alicia aren't done yet.
00:10:14I've got three big trees coming.
00:10:16I was getting two, but they decided to do me a deal on three.
00:10:20It was way back in week nine that Sonny and Alicia won the trading games.
00:10:24So Sonny, stand and Dame-lish arise.
00:10:29And with it, $10,000 of mature trees.
00:10:32And I do mean mature.
00:10:33Oh, that's a big tree.
00:10:35My Chinese elms come up the driveway.
00:10:39They're pretty impressive.
00:10:42Holy Julie.
00:10:43A little bit, yeah.
00:10:46And then close to the bottom.
00:10:48Yeah.
00:10:49Everything and more that I hoped.
00:10:51Looks so good.
00:10:52He looks like that he should have been on our grass the entire time.
00:10:56And those trees, you stand down at house five and look back, you don't see past our trees.
00:11:02Just looks amazing.
00:11:03Hopefully it stops you from seeing the arbor.
00:11:13In house one, Emma and Ben are creating a clean front facade with timber landing steps framed by two mature bottle trees, a fern garden and rolling grass hills.
00:11:24At least that's the plan.
00:11:27Um, looking around, still a lot to do.
00:11:30Yeah, we do.
00:11:31We've got our chippies coming in.
00:11:33You've got to finish off all the decking, the side of the decking?
00:11:35Yeah.
00:11:36Feeling a little stressed.
00:11:3824 hours to go and there's still a lot of decking to do.
00:11:41We've got to paint the side of the baseboards there.
00:11:44No, they're steps.
00:11:46They're building steps as well.
00:11:49Yeah.
00:11:50Yeah.
00:11:51Wow.
00:11:52Steps coming down either side.
00:11:53Wow.
00:11:54Yeah.
00:11:55They reckon they'll smash it though.
00:11:57Wowee.
00:11:58Okay.
00:11:59I can see us using power tools all night tonight.
00:12:02Yeah.
00:12:03We'll be going all day.
00:12:04And night.
00:12:05Yeah.
00:12:07Yeah, we're busy.
00:12:08We're racing.
00:12:09It's a race to the end.
00:12:11In the final 24 hours, the last room is shaping up as the tale of two finishers.
00:12:20Those in a frenzy and those that are not.
00:12:25Don't need to go in the pool first.
00:12:26No chance.
00:12:27Not a chance.
00:12:28It only took us 12 weeks, but we weren't panic attacking.
00:12:32No.
00:12:33On a Saturday.
00:12:34We thought we'd better have an important business meeting.
00:12:37Oh, stop it.
00:12:38Stop it.
00:12:39That's where you were.
00:12:40You almost died in here.
00:12:41Oh, that is so good.
00:12:42This week, House 3's Britt and Taz are leaning into Aussie.
00:12:45Into Aussie.
00:12:48That's better.
00:12:51They're going with native plants, a dry riverbed, and a secret garage door decal that will hopefully
00:12:59tie it all together.
00:13:01And around the side of the house, an outdoor cinema.
00:13:04Anyway, back to that important business meeting.
00:13:07We do need to get a mailbox.
00:13:08We do need to get a mailbox.
00:13:09We do need to get a mailbox.
00:13:10So a bit of buddings.
00:13:11Meanwhile, back at House 2, the meandering concrete path, and had the Curcio's confused, is now frustrating Foreman Dan.
00:13:19It just doesn't look right.
00:13:22Why?
00:13:23What's happened?
00:13:24This walkway.
00:13:25We're going to need a bit more detail than that.
00:13:28The hardener he put on it was a 24 hour one.
00:13:31He's washed it off too early.
00:13:32Okay, that's better.
00:13:33And what does that mean?
00:13:34It looks horrible.
00:13:35That's what it means.
00:13:36So this morning Dan's come in and realised that the concrete that was poured yesterday has
00:13:44been washed off too early and it hasn't exposed the aggregate.
00:13:47Look, it's just no consistency anywhere.
00:13:49Oh dear.
00:13:51Structurally, it's fine.
00:13:54It's just aesthetic.
00:13:55It's not going to match that driveway and should.
00:13:58Nothing you can do now.
00:14:02This is what it is.
00:14:05The judges will probably notice it, but more importantly, the buyers.
00:14:08That's what I'm worried about.
00:14:11I'm really, really worried now for these girls.
00:14:14This front yard week and it's just...
00:14:16It's been a continuation of last week.
00:14:19I just can't.
00:14:21I just...
00:14:25Even they're laughing.
00:14:28Strangely, I like it.
00:14:31I shouldn't, but I like it.
00:14:34Everyone smiles when they walk through it.
00:14:36I can't knock it down with this.
00:14:40Want me to bring the bigger machinery?
00:14:45I was running when they were going to spend their money.
00:14:56They've rattled the whole block, because right now I can't see them losing.
00:15:00With just seven hours until lockout, you would expect chaos.
00:15:12But there's a surprising sense of calm across the block.
00:15:15Last bit of conch for ever, hopefully.
00:15:21This looks lovely.
00:15:26We've got a lot to offer this week.
00:15:29We're really proud of what we've done.
00:15:31Robbie and Matt are keeping their front facade classic and welcoming with clean garden beds,
00:15:36a statement path and a water feature with goldfish for good luck.
00:15:41We're finishing strong.
00:15:43Would we love to take out the win?
00:15:45Absolutely.
00:15:46There's just one reveal left.
00:15:48And on the block, winning rooms is everything.
00:15:50And that's been Robbie and Matt's speciality.
00:15:53By a bonus point, it's Matt Robbie.
00:15:56The boys have racked up four room wins this season.
00:15:59But neck and neck with them, it's Brett and Taz.
00:16:03Yep, Brett and Taz also have four wins.
00:16:06In equal third, it's Han and Kan, who had wins in week three and six, along with Em and Ben, who took out week eight and week 11.
00:16:18As for Sonny and Alicia...
00:16:23For Sonny and Alicia, it's been a winless grind for 12 long weeks.
00:16:27If they don't take out this final week, they will be the only team in block history not to have won a room.
00:16:34Have a nice big trees, huh? Beautiful.
00:16:40I was running when they were going to spend their money.
00:16:43House four all of a sudden got these monster trees and there's a damn kangaroo.
00:16:51No one knew that we were going to put these trees in.
00:16:54No one knew MG the kangaroo was coming and no one was aware that I'd commandeered the MG.
00:16:59The ute that's up for grabs.
00:17:01Yeah.
00:17:02Wow, what a weapon.
00:17:03A bit going on.
00:17:05Sounds great too.
00:17:07Already flaming it.
00:17:09Smart.
00:17:11Sonny and Alicia, they've rattled the whole block because right now I can't see them losing.
00:17:16Four big features that just came in.
00:17:19They've got the secondary driveway that no one else has got and they've got the titanium caravan.
00:17:25Wow.
00:17:26Thank you so much.
00:17:27You've got to be going hard this week to win this because like that can be the difference between winning the block.
00:17:40Sonny and Alicia are playing a different game than everyone else this week including a calculated move that's more like 4D chess.
00:17:49Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
00:17:56I organized for everybody to be down at Dalesford to watch the local footy match
00:18:01because this week, plumber Chris is playing Dalesford
00:18:05so I thought maybe we should all go and support him.
00:18:08Shut up Chris!
00:18:10He just spat.
00:18:12But I can't go.
00:18:16Because while everybody else was out going to football, we had our eye on the prize.
00:18:22While Sonny and Alicia are eyeing the prize,
00:18:24Han and Can can barely look up from the mountain of problems in front of them.
00:18:29It looks f***ed.
00:18:30First problem.
00:18:32The gate.
00:18:34No, not that gate.
00:18:36That's the one.
00:18:38We were calling it the bus stop.
00:18:42It's not a bus stop.
00:18:45It kind of looks like it.
00:18:46Excuse me, it's Christian Jenkins' impression.
00:18:48You can't talk about it like that.
00:18:49I really like it.
00:18:51I think it just creates the entrance to getting in.
00:18:53It went up yesterday, but...
00:18:55It takes your eye off the Tory gate, which is a massive hero for the house.
00:19:01And then it's sort of like blending two different cultures in a way.
00:19:06Blends two cultures?
00:19:07Well that's what they were saying.
00:19:08Anyway, I believe...
00:19:09How?
00:19:09It throws off the symmetry of the house.
00:19:11What cultures is a blending?
00:19:15It was just other comments other people made.
00:19:17I don't know.
00:19:19It was weird.
00:19:20Well, I don't know anything about blending cultures,
00:19:22but if you ask me, it's manure.
00:19:26Someone's delivered a steaming pile of manure.
00:19:28So, the hut was taken down.
00:19:37And it wasn't me who named it the bus stop, by the way.
00:19:40It was Foreman Dan.
00:19:42OK, next problem.
00:19:43Because Han and Cam's retaining wall is above 900 millimetres,
00:19:49it means they are required to replace this safety fence
00:19:52with a permanent balustrade.
00:19:55So, yeah, solution is nine and six have said,
00:19:57because it's so late in the piece,
00:19:59that they will take care of the guardrail.
00:20:05Clear gap.
00:20:0647.
00:20:09How's hideous?
00:20:12All they had on site was the black fencing, which is hideous.
00:20:16It feels like prison.
00:20:18So, yeah, I guess we're just trying to figure out a way
00:20:21to make it look less hideous.
00:20:23And they have settled on covering it with plants.
00:20:26What do you think?
00:20:27I think it's a good idea.
00:20:28Just to cover as much of it as possible from the...
00:20:31Yeah, it's one thing after another.
00:20:36They poured their walkway yesterday
00:20:43and then they gurnied it off within about two or three hours.
00:20:47And that doesn't allow the hardener to set in
00:20:49and keep all the stones in position.
00:20:52So Dan's called in the concreters from House 5
00:20:54who've come up with a solution.
00:20:56Acid.
00:20:58Dehydrochloric acid washing.
00:20:59Yeah.
00:20:59One of those 6,000 PSI pressure washing.
00:21:02So a real hard one.
00:21:02And you reckon we can get it to what that will look like over there?
00:21:05You can get it relatively close, yeah.
00:21:07Oh.
00:21:08Wow.
00:21:09What a difference.
00:21:10Yeah.
00:21:11Collie.
00:21:12You can see from there to there.
00:21:14We can fix it.
00:21:15You can see it.
00:21:16That looks normal now.
00:21:18Well, I think that's the last of Han and Cairns problems.
00:21:22Oh, yeah.
00:21:23They don't have a front gate.
00:21:26Apparently our gate's not going to come.
00:21:30Why?
00:21:30Because he hasn't made it.
00:21:32F***.
00:21:33It's a beautiful day.
00:21:35It can't stop you.
00:21:36Han.
00:21:37I missed the footy too.
00:21:39Who?
00:21:40I missed out on the footy too.
00:21:43Yeah.
00:21:44We've got no gate.
00:21:47Why?
00:21:48Not ready till Monday, apparently.
00:21:53Yeah, Arbor's cool.
00:21:55Thank you.
00:21:55It'll take the focus off.
00:21:56No gate.
00:21:57Don't worry about it.
00:21:57Thank you.
00:21:58It's a beautiful day.
00:22:02And it's not just Han and Cairns who are struggling with their gate.
00:22:05Emma and Ben have their own issues.
00:22:10Painting the gates.
00:22:13We thought they were coming black.
00:22:16But they're not.
00:22:17So, we're just going to paint them.
00:22:21Boring!
00:22:22Despite having a mountain of work, Emma and Ben have managed to get through most of it.
00:22:29We're in a pretty good spot.
00:22:31The deck is finished.
00:22:33We've gurneyed the driveway.
00:22:35The lighting is in and it's working.
00:22:37We've got a little few touch-up bits to do tomorrow morning for the two hours.
00:22:41But we're so happy with how this space has come together.
00:22:43Okay, last night on the block.
00:22:47What day is it?
00:22:48Day 80?
00:22:494, 5 or 6.
00:22:51Yeah.
00:22:52And we are almost finished the front yard.
00:22:54A little bit more painting to do.
00:22:56And, yeah.
00:22:58It looks amazing.
00:22:59Feeling great.
00:23:00More red!
00:23:00More red!
00:23:01Fresh from staring into the sun, the master of mulch is back to see whose facades are blooming
00:23:15and whose are well and truly rooted.
00:23:17Final day.
00:23:29Two hours until tools down.
00:23:32Our 1,000th episode.
00:23:34And against all odds, it's less a race to the finish and more a meander to the end.
00:23:41Good morning.
00:23:42It took us 12 weeks before we finally finished on a Saturday night instead of a Sunday morning
00:23:48at 9 o'clock in the morning.
00:23:49Well, they drove to work, Lazy Farm.
00:23:51We have, like, a little bit of work to do, but enough that we have time this morning to
00:23:55not have to worry too much about it.
00:23:59I think our neighbours are.
00:24:03What's left?
00:24:04Oh.
00:24:07It's really not.
00:24:09A few plants.
00:24:12Um, yeah.
00:24:14Try and stay upright.
00:24:17We built a house.
00:24:22Would we love to take out the win?
00:24:24Absolutely.
00:24:25Have we given it everything?
00:24:27Yes.
00:24:28And have they been responsible for the first death on the block?
00:24:32Possibly.
00:24:32I think they're dead.
00:24:34Matt.
00:24:35What?
00:24:36I think the fish are dead.
00:24:39It was zero degrees last night.
00:24:42Unless they're asleep.
00:24:43Maybe there's a poke one.
00:24:46Oh, no.
00:24:46She's dead.
00:24:47Hey, there's not a...
00:24:49Oh, God.
00:24:50Oh, God.
00:24:51Oh, God.
00:24:53It's as blue as a young...
00:24:55Oh, my God.
00:24:57I'm sorry, Josephine.
00:24:58I'm sorry, Janet.
00:25:00On the day you went away.
00:25:03And it's not just a fish-tellity.
00:25:07Emma and Ben have arrived to find the freezing temperatures have caused the paint to run off
00:25:11their gates.
00:25:14Pull them off.
00:25:15Okay.
00:25:16Sure.
00:25:16Yes, please.
00:25:17I've had to take the gates off, which is a shame.
00:25:19Yeah.
00:25:19Um, because the paint just...
00:25:21It was too cold.
00:25:24Thanks, guys.
00:25:25Appreciate it.
00:25:29Over in House 3, Britt and Taz finally get to reveal the best-kept secret on the block.
00:25:35Believe it or not, this isn't the actual decal for their 4D garage door.
00:25:41We're about to reveal the actual garage door.
00:25:44Yeah.
00:25:44Um, much to everyone's surprise, I think.
00:25:47Because everyone else on the block believes it is.
00:25:50Wow.
00:25:57Wow.
00:25:58It's different.
00:25:58You can't really...
00:25:59That's what we call a hit-the-miss.
00:26:04Yeah, we are not putting our faces on the garage door.
00:26:08All right, so just grab one of the edges, right, like this, and start peeling.
00:26:13Are we sure you want to do this?
00:26:14Yeah, we're sure.
00:26:16Let's quickly.
00:26:16All right, all right, all right.
00:26:16Let's get it done.
00:26:18Go to the top one there, Troy, yeah.
00:26:19We're unveiling a beautiful artwork by Troy Firebrace to Jar Jar and people, and we just,
00:26:24we're so proud to be able to do that.
00:26:25We'll come off in a bigger piece, hopefully.
00:26:28Good gag.
00:26:29Really good gag.
00:26:34Nice.
00:26:35I was just worried for everyone on the street, to be honest.
00:26:39The gag well and truly paid off.
00:26:42Did I have you, though, with Ty?
00:26:43Yeah, I know.
00:26:44You didn't doubt it.
00:26:45I didn't know.
00:26:46I thought...
00:26:46To rip it off, it was amazing.
00:26:51Wow.
00:26:53Oh, darling.
00:26:54So to bring a person like Troy in to help tell our story, but to be from this area, to be
00:27:08from this country is so important to us.
00:27:10You know, without sounding too full of it, but, like, there's going to be a lot of young
00:27:14fellows watching at home saying, me do this, and me at work doing what I do, and, you know,
00:27:20someone like Troy and him at work doing what he does, and, you know, I really look up to
00:27:23that, and that's the example I want to set for my kids, and it's an example I want to set
00:27:27for my community.
00:27:28And my community isn't just back home, it's all around.
00:27:32I love it.
00:28:00This is it, week 12.
00:28:02Come here.
00:28:08Tools down!
00:28:10Yeah, baby.
00:28:12Tools down, cheers!
00:28:24Game over.
00:28:26I know, I'm sorry.
00:28:28I'm sorry.
00:28:30It's not a shilling.
00:28:31Oh, gross!
00:28:32I don't even know what we're feeling.
00:28:33We built a house in 12 weeks.
00:28:34We have no idea what we're doing still.
00:28:35My sister's building a house, and it's been going for two years.
00:28:37Love ya.
00:28:38Well done.
00:28:39I don't want it to end.
00:28:40We don't want it to end.
00:28:41We don't want it to end.
00:28:42Yay!
00:28:43Oh, I'm getting emotional.
00:28:47It's pretty cool, isn't it?
00:28:48It's amazing.
00:28:49Just a couple of guys.
00:28:50Just a couple of guys.
00:28:51Just a couple of guys building a house.
00:28:57Just a couple of guys building a house.
00:28:58Yeah, I think it's really going to hit like a ton of bricks.
00:29:04Oh my god, you're getting me.
00:29:05Stop it!
00:29:06Well done, Sam.
00:29:07Well done, Sam.
00:29:08Well done, Sam.
00:29:09Well done.
00:29:10Well done.
00:29:11Well done.
00:29:12Well done.
00:29:14Well done, Sam.
00:29:27Well done.
00:29:33You're definitely...

00:33:48Cedar and Sage
00:33:50And I'm going to go buy a gift for our beautiful Met Cafe girls
00:33:54Oh yeah, that's so nice
00:33:56Excellent
00:33:58Thank you so much
00:33:59We have some little gifts to say thank you for being amazing this whole season
00:34:04We love you all and thank you so much
00:34:06To our favourite barista
00:34:10Colin, our landscaper, is making up signs that will say the Hills Dalesford
00:34:14It's the name of our house
00:34:16Yeah, we'll put it on the front fence and at the house entry
00:34:19Perfect
00:34:20That was so good
00:34:22We think our front yard is
00:34:24I'm going to say perfect, that's
00:34:26It's perfect
00:34:27That's too obvious, but it is, it's perfect
00:34:40Let's have a look
00:34:42The judges come through your house from your winning backyard
00:34:45And when they opened the front door
00:34:47Darren was already smiling
00:34:49Look at the decking
00:34:51I was too busy with the battening
00:34:53Oh, it's stunning
00:34:55I just love this experience of coming out and seeing that driveway
00:34:59Roll up and bend and with the trees in the background
00:35:02It's so grand
00:35:03Dave Franklin is back this week
00:35:06And on first impressions
00:35:08He loves your front garden
00:35:10This is all so finished
00:35:11I was going to say
00:35:12Yeah
00:35:13It really is
00:35:14There was a lot in Philippine last year that wasn't finished
00:35:19Dave said the planting is all about matching the colours to the cedars behind
00:35:22If you have a look around you can see all the blues, the silver blues that we're getting in the natives here
00:35:27And then you look back up on the back there and that's where it's all matching in
00:35:30So that with the two bottle trees that frames the house
00:35:33You've got a garden here that's quite thought out
00:35:36Well, quite thought out
00:35:37This is actually planted perfectly
00:35:40I mean, it's pretty hard to beat
00:35:42So did you do most of the planting, Ben?
00:35:44With your jacket on
00:35:45With the go-go gadget
00:35:46And all the stuff going out
00:35:47He did
00:35:48It was going everywhere
00:35:49It was going everywhere
00:35:50It was going everywhere
00:35:51It's going everywhere
00:35:52Pockets galore
00:35:54How big will they get, Dave, these natives along that
00:35:56They will get as tall as what the cedars are behind here
00:35:58Oh, wow
00:35:59They'll get quite big as well
00:36:01Yeah
00:36:02And that's going to give that privacy
00:36:03Because this is the corner allotment
00:36:05So you've obviously got the pub just across the road
00:36:07Which is such a selling feature for buyers
00:36:09But just a little bit of privacy will be amazing
00:36:12Shona had some high praise for your landscaper, Colin Hyatt
00:36:16Yeah
00:36:17You see the value of a landscape designer
00:36:20You've got this little grassy knoll that comes up with a sculpture
00:36:23And lighting up against it
00:36:25The way the boulders are and the way they've worked with the mounds
00:36:28And how they've made everything just work
00:36:32Everything's planted to perfection
00:36:35Marty thinks the new owners of this house will feel very house-proud driving in
00:36:41That's what buyers love
00:36:42They roll into the house
00:36:43It's a massive, massive part of this marketing campaign for all the contestants
00:36:48Getting that front facade popping on the Domain app
00:36:51Is what draws that further inquiry in
00:36:53I love that the garage door really blends in with it
00:36:57And I'm sure we're going to see feature garage doors
00:36:59But because the facade of this and the black alpine feel is so strong
00:37:05I love the fact they've picked a very simplistic garage door
00:37:08Because everything is about the planting of the greenery against that black
00:37:12Darren thinks it's all great
00:37:15But not perfect
00:37:16If you're wanting to secure your home
00:37:19Don't you want to be able to close your gate?
00:37:21What happened to those gates? I saw that
00:37:24We did
00:37:25We got them delivered late
00:37:27And then we painted them last night
00:37:29And they just dripped all down
00:37:31The frost that was too cold
00:37:32It was too cold
00:37:33Too cold
00:37:34Oh, they've left off two gates
00:37:36So it can't be a ten
00:37:37We get that
00:37:38Yeah
00:37:39But I'll tell you what, they've given it a solid nudge
00:37:41I love it
00:37:42Mm
00:37:45Landscaping is always important
00:37:47But in Dalesford it's particularly important
00:37:49These are garden homes
00:37:51Very important part of the Dalesford landscape
00:37:54And I would wager
00:37:56Whoever wins the landscaping
00:37:59May well win this show
00:38:01That's it Em and Ben
00:38:02What a great three months you've had
00:38:07Lots, lots of second places
00:38:09But you've come home strong
00:38:10Yeah
00:38:11Well done
00:38:12Thank you
00:38:19It's time for you to decide which contestants you think
00:38:22Have created this week's winning outdoor space
00:38:25Just head to the block website now to cast your vote
00:38:28And don't miss the results a little later in the show
00:38:32Okay, here we go
00:38:37I'm gonna hand the iPad over
00:38:39Oh, okay
00:38:40Thank you
00:38:41Thank you sir
00:38:42I'm not sure what to do with my hands
00:38:43Alright
00:38:45Do I channel my best Scott camera or do I do?
00:38:46No, no
00:38:47I think you do your shelly club
00:38:48Alright, house two
00:38:49Han and can
00:38:50What another big week girls
00:38:52Working right down to the wire again
00:38:54This week was BIA
00:38:55What is that?
00:38:56Business as usual
00:38:57No, that's BAU
00:38:59We're continuing our theme with Christian Jenkins who's doing a Japanese inspired landscape
00:39:14And I just thought wouldn't it be cool if we had a big torii gate above the driveway
00:39:21Are you literally trying to kill me?
00:39:24So flow estate is a play on the words flow state
00:39:30We want the inside and the outside to have that flow
00:39:33So I had to go to Bunnings
00:39:35They've got like perfect Japanese Northcote pottery
00:39:40Zen water features so that wind
00:39:42And then we went down to Bromley
00:39:45We'll take this please
00:39:46So did you buy anything Japanesey?
00:39:48Yeah
00:39:49It's a elephant Buddha from Bromley
00:39:52But you know Buddha's not Japanese right?
00:39:59We love Christian but he moves at his own pace
00:40:03We're gonna play around with raked river sand
00:40:06One on a journey to get to the front door
00:40:09Ummm
00:40:11Yeah
00:40:12Ummm
00:40:13Yeah
00:40:15Obviously we've run out of budget
00:40:19But focus is using all of our block bucks and sponsors
00:40:24And I have my beacon console on site with Anton today
00:40:28So outdoor lighting
00:40:29Yes
00:40:30I know we need entrance lights of course
00:40:32Yep
00:40:33So we'll need here
00:40:34Yep
00:40:35Here
00:40:36Obviously here
00:40:37Yep
00:40:38And something happening along here
00:40:39Yep
00:40:40To light up the walkways
00:40:41Yep
00:40:42Yep
00:40:45Watching the torii gate go up
00:40:47Yeah
00:40:48It's iconic
00:40:49It's
00:40:50Radical
00:40:51And we love it
00:40:52We've finished house 2
00:40:54Woo
00:40:55We're done
00:40:56So happy
00:40:57I'm so exhausted
00:40:59Thought we did it
00:41:00Walking out of your home today the judges noticed
00:41:16What a beautiful front door
00:41:18Yeah
00:41:19Beautiful door handle
00:41:20Christian Cole just nails it
00:41:21Did he do the door?
00:41:22Yep
00:41:23Nails it every time
00:41:24Another ramp
00:41:25Great access
00:41:26Then Shayna noticed the name of your house
00:41:28Flow Estate
00:41:29What's it called?
00:41:30Flow
00:41:31Flow Estate
00:41:32Flow Estate
00:41:33Doesn't flow
00:41:34She's feeling the Japan vibes outside
00:41:38But not so much inside
00:41:40We talked about that on Friday didn't we?
00:41:42And Darren didn't love the fencing
00:41:44I couldn't hate that fencing more
00:41:47I think that is very harsh and industrial
00:41:51But Dave Franklin came to your aid saying
00:41:54You do have what they call Virginia creeper
00:41:56So it's like potato vine
00:41:57This is probably one of the fastest growing vines
00:42:00Okay
00:42:01So by the time we come back at auction time
00:42:03All of this fence should be covered
00:42:04And obviously this retaining wall because the front garden here is set so much higher
00:42:08So not as usable as house one
00:42:11However the privacy factor is a real selling feature for the guests of this house
00:42:17Because they essentially get their own little private courtyard
00:42:19And that water feature is quite relaxing
00:42:22So if they've got the doors open warmer months
00:42:24That'll just filter into the room and it is quite tranquil
00:42:27And it goes with that whole Flow Estate brand that they've given the house
00:42:31This is from Northcote pottery
00:42:33So you're basically ready to put straight in your garden
00:42:35Turn it on
00:42:36You're awake
00:42:37You've got your water feature
00:42:38But what do we all think about the elephant in the room?
00:42:40This Japanese arbor
00:42:47I don't hate it
00:42:48I know it's pulverising
00:42:49But it kind of works with this garden
00:42:51It could be reminiscent of you know
00:42:55It could be some film director or whatever
00:42:57It could be Quentin Tarantino's house
00:42:58Because it looks like it's somewhere from Hollywood I reckon
00:43:01Well not the Dalesford Hills, the Hollywood Hills
00:43:04Marty thinks it's a big risk
00:43:07Because that is what you see the moment you come to this home
00:43:10And the moment you walk out the front door
00:43:12It hits you in the face
00:43:13When you create something
00:43:14You do want to create something that you know has a big proportion in the marketplace
00:43:18The amount of buyers that we will meet in the marketplace that specifically want a Japanese garden
00:43:24Are pretty slim
00:43:27Shana really admires your commitment to it
00:43:29But she doesn't feel like it really flows with the interior of the home
00:43:33I absolutely adore that arbor as a grand entrance
00:43:36And I think the Japanese garden I like the commitment to it
00:43:40But inside it's pop
00:43:42It's a real pop culture sort of feel inside
00:43:44That just doesn't feel Japanese to me though
00:43:47Well the judges also took in the side area you delivered this week
00:43:51Great way to bring some life to that side of the house
00:43:54Sorry am I boring you there Frankie
00:43:56They then took a turn through the flowing path to the front gate
00:44:02It's lucky that it's a slow lifestyle here in Dalesford
00:44:06Because if you're walking through that front gate
00:44:08You are meandering along this path for a good 15 minutes until you get to your front door
00:44:15Dead set I'd just be doing that
00:44:18Oh and my OCD would be going off its head
00:44:21But Shana really really liked it
00:44:24You'll probably get kids coming in and drawing it like Darren is at the moment
00:44:27It's one of those things that like you come out here with your cup of tea
00:44:31And you'd sort of make a pattern
00:44:33And it's about taking it slow
00:44:34It's about movement
00:44:35It's taking in the aspects of the Japanese world
00:44:38It's about flowing
00:44:39It's about flowing
00:44:41Dave was your biggest fan this week
00:44:43He thinks this is a really great garden
00:44:45And had a lot of admiration for Christian Jenkins who worked on it
00:44:48Okay it's not your usual landscaping
00:44:51But whether it ticks Japanese
00:44:53It ticks Japanese for me
00:44:54Marty thinks the execution this week is next level
00:44:58Cannot be denied
00:45:00The craftsmanship
00:45:01The way in which they've created this grand entry
00:45:04They have to get really, really a good score for this
00:45:07Shana said a great way for you two to finish your rollercoaster on the block
00:45:11And you've definitely finished on a high
00:45:14Thank you
00:45:15I might get some reaction out of them now
00:45:17Their collaboration with Christian has really worked for them
00:45:20You know we haven't always loved their rooms
00:45:23They haven't delivered properly
00:45:24But I think what they've worked on with the backyard
00:45:27And the front yard with Christian has really brought them
00:45:30They've definitely finished on a high today
00:45:31Absolutely
00:45:32Well done girls
00:45:33Alright
00:45:34That's it
00:45:35Hand in hand
00:45:36Well done
00:45:37Thank you
00:45:39Thank you
00:45:45Saturday the 15th of November is
00:45:47McHappie Day
00:45:49Help Ronald McDonald House Charities support families with seriously ill children
00:45:54Two dollars from every Big Mac sold on McHappie Day will go towards RMHC
00:45:58From all of us here at the block
00:46:00We support this amazing charity
00:46:02McHappie Day
00:46:03Every Big Mac
00:46:04Every Big Mac
00:46:05Every Big Mac
00:46:09Okay
00:46:10How's Shrebrit and Taz
00:46:11I am
00:46:12This week was bittersweet
00:46:17If this week was a drink it'd be a lemon lime bitters
00:46:20That's good
00:46:22We have a beautiful Indigenous artwork going on the garage door
00:46:28But we've come up with the idea to put a photo of us on top of the artwork
00:46:33Yeah look
00:46:35How am I supposed to keep a straight face for that long
00:46:38That like people believing this is actually what we're doing
00:46:41You I'll be fine you won't be fine
00:46:44Garage doors are here
00:46:47I still think that Fordan thought we were joking
00:46:51And then the door goes on
00:46:53It's a little part of you like maybe we'll keep it
00:46:57Absolutely not
00:46:58Absolutely not
00:46:59Front yard week the budget is $20,000
00:47:03Is that enough?
00:47:04No
00:47:05That's not enough
00:47:06Again I'm back on the tours
00:47:07This has got a disaster riddle over it
00:47:09Like tradies think they're mad smooth and stuff
00:47:11They're not they just keep guessing until they get it right
00:47:13Keep guessing
00:47:14As long as you act like you know what you're doing
00:47:15It looks good
00:47:20So we had discussed planting a crepe myrtle which we call a hazel tree
00:47:25We call a hazel's tree so this is our daughter that we lost
00:47:29So we planted one for her in our hometown in Perth
00:47:32A lot of people go through it don't talk to anyone about it
00:47:34Yeah something so common like they say one in four but probably more than one in three women have miscarriages
00:47:40Hopefully it brings us some good luck
00:47:42We have started to dig out the dry creek and then we got mulch deliveries coming today
00:47:49Garden supply places these are their busiest days on a Friday especially with the weather like this as well
00:47:53But the bird out there unreal
00:47:55As you can see the trucks backed in now and ready to dump off 25 cuba mulch
00:47:59Final piece of the puzzle is JB hi-fi turning up to install the outdoor cinema
00:48:06To sit out there around the fire that just gives us a little bit extra leg up
00:48:10That's gonna be unreal
00:48:12Yeah man
00:48:13This front yard is the full stop for our block journey
00:48:16It's exactly where we wanted it to be
00:48:18Shall we find out?
00:48:19Let's go find out
00:48:20Ah
00:48:41For starters a glass front door when you've got all of that traffic out the front
00:48:45Is a very very odd choice isn't it?
00:48:48That has to be the first one I have seen in 20 years of being in real estate
00:48:53I've got a glass front door
00:48:55Do you?
00:48:56Yep
00:48:57Thanks Shel
00:48:58Speaking of doors
00:48:59I'm rolling in a binzo
00:49:02What a garage door
00:49:03No one has ever done that before
00:49:05They got a local indigenous artist to specifically do that for their garage door
00:49:11That is an incredible artwork
00:49:13Dave was very surprised you didn't add any planting up against the corrugated facade
00:49:18Because look at the front door here
00:49:20We've got concrete right up to the house here
00:49:23There's no greenery whatsoever around here
00:49:25There's not a lot going on
00:49:27Oh come on Dave there's a lovely grate
00:49:30That's not great
00:49:31It certainly draws your eye to it
00:49:34I think it's just a missed opportunity
00:49:36This is what you're coming home to every night
00:49:38One window
00:49:39You've got some colour bond
00:49:40You've got all of this stuff here
00:49:42So it's not fantastic
00:49:44This for me looks like an industrial shed
00:49:47This does not match the level of luxury that is sitting behind these walls
00:49:51Marty was expecting more privacy from the guest suite
00:49:54As this planting is also very sparse
00:49:57Why not screen this with foliage?
00:49:59You've got essentially a large kitty litter covered in mulch
00:50:03Shona adores the timber cladding on the gables
00:50:08But once again thinks you've let it down with the planting
00:50:11You know if you have a look at this from here
00:50:13It's barren
00:50:15This is then back home in the Pilgrim
00:50:17It is, it's like going to a mine site
00:50:18That's what I reckon
00:50:19There is absolutely nothing here at all that I can even talk about landscape
00:50:23Okay, now for some very positive news
00:50:25The other side of the garden feels much more satisfying
00:50:29This here is meant to be looking like this
00:50:33Established trees, lawn
00:50:35So much better
00:50:36Amazing
00:50:37It's a much more satisfying shot
00:50:39Isn't it?
00:50:40Yeah
00:50:41Because you've got a lot of greenery in the foreground
00:50:43You've got the peaks of the architecture
00:50:45Shona thinks this week's result
00:50:47Is very much a budget issue
00:50:49You've got to flip and twist
00:50:51That if they knew they had budget issues
00:50:53Even by Wednesday
00:50:54They could have said look let's get rid of that
00:50:55And just turf it
00:50:56And just use all the sponsored products
00:50:58Darren thinks you haven't missed a beat
00:51:00Throughout the past 11 weeks
00:51:02So he was quite surprised that you wouldn't have planned this out better
00:51:06How did they not know that things were outstanding at this point in the competition
00:51:11When they've run such a tight ship internally with their budgets, with their projects
00:51:16For the front of your home, like for the facade of your house
00:51:20And for a massive, massive prize
00:51:22Two cars, 50 grand
00:51:24I mean
00:51:25Yeah
00:51:26It could win or lose this competition
00:51:28Unless did they get caught out
00:51:29Because I know that we do have to walk through this gate
00:51:32And if they've done something that's a little bit more expensive through there
00:51:37Maybe that is where they've been hamstrung
00:51:39Let's have a look
00:51:40Let's find out
00:51:41Let's have a look
00:51:42Ending on a high around to the back of your shed
00:51:45They've found something to really like
00:51:48Complex, is it?
00:51:49Yeah
00:51:50You've just got to push it, Marty
00:51:53I don't know what to push it
00:52:02Here we go
00:52:03Look at that
00:52:04They've built a little moonlight cinema
00:52:07That's pretty cool
00:52:08Yeah, it's lovely
00:52:09As long as the wind doesn't blow in you
00:52:11Really good use of this space
00:52:14Yeah
00:52:15It is
00:52:16It's kind of a dead, dull, nothing kind of area
00:52:18Marty reckons this is very smart
00:52:21They've almost done what House 4 did with creating that bocce on the side of the property
00:52:25And gave it purpose
00:52:26And this here is a real selling feature for the agency marketing
00:52:30The question is
00:52:31Was it worth putting the expense of the posts, the chairs, the styling
00:52:35To have the facade that lacks any greenery on the structure?
00:52:40It's probably not the right place
00:52:42Okay, so Britt and Taz, some tough feedback to end on
00:52:46But I have to remind you that you have won the most rooms this season
00:52:49Yep
00:52:50You've been to the most dinners with me
00:52:51Yeah
00:52:52So I'm sure that you should be proud of the house that you've built
00:52:56And I know that your family at home watching will be extremely proud of the house that you've built
00:53:01Appreciate it
00:53:02Considering you've won that many rooms
00:53:03Thank you Scott
00:53:04I appreciate it
00:53:05Okay, that's it mate
00:53:06Thank you
00:53:07Thank you
00:53:08Thank you
00:53:09Thank you
00:53:10Thank you
00:53:11Thank you
00:53:12Thank you
00:53:13Thank you
00:53:14Thank you
00:53:15Thank you
00:53:16Thank you
00:53:17Thank you
00:53:18Thank you
00:53:19Thank you
00:53:20Thank you
00:53:21There you go
00:53:22Jeez, you must get exhausted on Sundays
00:53:23No
00:53:24Looks easy on the telly
00:53:25I'm pretty easy today
00:53:26Look at this
00:53:27I've got my hands in a pocket
00:53:28I don't know what to do
00:53:29Okay, here we go
00:53:30House 4 Sunny and Alicia
00:53:31What single room win?
00:53:33Thanks Shel
00:53:34Really?
00:53:35You didn't know?
00:53:36No
00:53:37You haven't won anything this s***
00:53:38No
00:53:45This week
00:53:46What's the last week on the block?
00:53:48Yeah
00:53:49Smart ass
00:53:54Happy Birthday
00:53:55Beautiful
00:53:56Did not picture waking up on my f***ing birthday on the block, no
00:53:59I would love a bloody win this week for my birthday
00:54:02I don't want you to be the only team ever in history not to win a room
00:54:07That's not f***ing funny
00:54:08Stop laughing
00:54:11We seem to keep getting pipped because we just don't have that little 1% thing to tick us over
00:54:16So this week we're putting a big $260,000 caravan in the front with our two driveways
00:54:22So you can't get your car out until you move the caravan
00:54:24Yeah, you put your car in first to move the Tarana to move the vehicle
00:54:28Yeah, exactly
00:54:29Exactly
00:54:30Quintessential Aussie front yard
00:54:34We've got the ramp going in, all our trees out the front
00:54:37We've lined up a little sneaky car to stay in our driveway
00:54:41We're reversing our caravan in, we're putting it out to the universe
00:54:44Caravan, car, house
00:54:46We've had a little bit of money left
00:54:52And so I make a phone call
00:54:53I think I'm in the market for something for my front lawn
00:54:56I do have something in mind, it is a life size kangaroo
00:55:02Then I make another phone call
00:55:04I need some bigger trees
00:55:05Got some beautiful 200 litre Chinese elms
00:55:08Oh that looks sick
00:55:10How cool is that?
00:55:11I didn't think he'd be up there
00:55:12No I don't
00:55:14Last chance, we've had 12 chances
00:55:16I'm scared because I don't want to leave a loser
00:55:19We talk a big game and there's nothing worse than talking a big game
00:55:22And not following through
00:55:24Cause I'm gonna make this place your home
00:55:35Well Dave, if you're gonna do a glass door, that's how you do it
00:55:38You make it private
00:55:39See?
00:55:40Already, pots and plants
00:55:41Already starting to like it
00:55:43Yeah, that's what they had to do next door
00:55:45Yeah
00:55:46They just needed to stop the form work so the concrete didn't touch the house
00:55:49And you've got a garden bed
00:55:51Mhm
00:55:52That's a good start
00:55:54And those grasses, like we know how big they grow
00:55:57And that would just make that beautiful flow and texture
00:56:00And they go so high in interest
00:56:02But they haven't done it near the door so it's not in your way
00:56:05Marty just loves how the Little Hampton bricks and Rusty the Kangaroo go so well
00:56:11How good is that?
00:56:13Rusty the Kangaroo!
00:56:15That's awesome
00:56:17Oh I love him so much
00:56:19Wow
00:56:20Classic textbook Aussie entry with Rusty the Kangaroo
00:56:23Wow
00:56:24He's so great
00:56:25Look at the biceps, they're like yours mate
00:56:26Just give me a run for your money
00:56:28Darren said doing a sculpture is a tricky decision for a landscape
00:56:32It can go one of two ways
00:56:34It can look kind of clunky or harsh
00:56:38That's brilliant, the facets, the design, the craftsmanship
00:56:43Well I do know this artist, okay, so his name is Matt Hill
00:56:46He has done a lot of sculptures and it doesn't only just sell them in Australia
00:56:49It's around the world so this sculpture here could be something that goes up in value
00:56:53They don't even need to name this place because everyone will know it's the one with the kangaroo
00:56:58Jayna was smiling and I know sometimes over the past three months she hasn't necessarily smiled in your house
00:57:04Today she was loving it all
00:57:06I love the rawness of that fence, I love the rawness of the bricks
00:57:11I love the fact that we've got a maple right by the door
00:57:14They say home, they say romance, they say this is beauty that changes seasonally
00:57:19And I think this is a garden even though some people say oh it's a bit plain
00:57:24It ain't plain
00:57:25It's going to change each season
00:57:28Darren thought it is such a simple but sophisticated palette
00:57:31He loves the way it's been zoned as well
00:57:33It's a step back further than house three
00:57:37So we actually have more space here
00:57:39But it feels so much bigger because you've just got this big expanse of lawn on both sides
00:57:44What I love so much about last week's landscape was it felt like the perfect Aussie backyard at a luxe level
00:57:52And this does exactly the same job exactly as well
00:57:56The judges think you have been very clever with your budget here
00:57:59You've clearly spent the money on the right things
00:58:03Probably the least amount of plants in here than what we've seen so far
00:58:06Basically count the trees out, there's probably about ten trees, that's it
00:58:09There's these beautiful big Chinese elves, you know, they're six metres
00:58:14I mean, they've only had to put in three trees
00:58:16And all of a sudden we feel like we're in a mature garden
00:58:19Come auction, I mean this is all going to be sitting in springtime
00:58:22They're going to look absolutely fantastic
00:58:24Shayna noted it's very clever to put the MGU9 in the driveway
00:58:29I've never seen one of these
00:58:31Well, nobody's ever seen one of these
00:58:33It's brand new
00:58:34Brand new
00:58:35Wow
00:58:36And whoever does the best job this week gets to leave it here with their house
00:58:39Which adds value to their sale
00:58:42That ute may well stay there
00:58:44Oh
00:58:45Shayna likes the versatility you offer with the extra driveway
00:58:49Clever is a word that came up many times in your yard today
00:58:53That they've put separate gates here and utilise this space
00:58:56And they can park a car in there if they want
00:58:59But if a buyer comes along and goes, well, I don't want that
00:59:02That's easy planting
00:59:03In terms of amenity, having this area and a separate gate
00:59:06And space for a caravan and showing how you could use it
00:59:09Just adds value to the house
00:59:10And as Marty pointed out
00:59:12If somebody buys your home and doesn't want the caravan
00:59:15They can very easily sell it off and cover their stamp duty
00:59:18Like what a feature that is for the marketing of the home
00:59:21Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick
00:59:22The only other thing Shayna would like to have seen today
00:59:25Is a hedge to screen the chairs outside the guest suite
00:59:28I would have liked to see something in front of there just a fraction
00:59:31Like, you know, they are exposed
00:59:33So just privacy for that guest
00:59:35I'll tell you what, I'm glad you found a fault
00:59:37It's pretty hard
00:59:39Because this is pretty faultless
00:59:40Yeah
00:59:41Yeah
00:59:42Marty reckons what you've delivered is an emotional connection
00:59:46I feel like I'm standing in a home that has been stood here for five, six, seven, eight, nine years
00:59:53Yeah
00:59:54It feels so established
00:59:55And the houses before that did feel like they were new
00:59:59There's a soul here, there's a purpose
01:00:01It's also going to probably help sell this house
01:00:03And also, it's a massive, massive price
01:00:05Yeah
01:00:06It looks like House 4 has been the absolute dark horse
01:00:09Yeah
01:00:10In this competition
01:00:11Do you know what, if you're going to come through at some point
01:00:13This is a great point to hit your stride
01:00:16Sonia and Lisa, that is it
01:00:18Thank you
01:00:20Thank you
01:00:21Thank you
01:00:22All yours mate
01:00:23Thank you very much Shel, well done, great job
01:00:24Thank you
01:00:25Okay, House 5, Robbie and Matt
01:00:26Hello
01:00:27If this week was a musical theatre show, what would it be?
01:00:43Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
01:00:45Because the first part was pretty s*** and the last part of it ended with a bang
01:00:48And I'd say cats, because the contestants are a bunch of
01:00:53Our landscape of Paul Grant
01:00:55He's so talented and his design work is insane
01:00:58But on Monday morning, he told us
01:01:00We've got 34 grand, outstanding
01:01:05Sorry, what?
01:01:06No, I'm ready to kill someone
01:01:11Paul, you know, we give him credit because he wants to finish the job
01:01:16We just have to go away and work out where we can cut costs
01:01:18So, Matt and I are just rolling up our sleeves and be Paul's labourers for a couple of days
01:01:23Mel, did you get that on camera?
01:01:28Two dumb s***s on a couch
01:01:31Going shopping for a driveway
01:01:32How are you?
01:01:33Ricky?
01:01:34Hi Ricky, I'm Matt
01:01:35Here to do some driveway selection
01:01:37So our house is the one on the end there
01:01:40That is that beautiful dark charcoal nearly black colour
01:01:43So yeah, we've got a bit of a variety here
01:01:45But you could go something to contrast the dark cladding
01:01:48I love this
01:01:50Alright, let's go there
01:01:52Done
01:01:56Today, we got lots of plants
01:01:59Am I excited?
01:02:00Yes
01:02:01Yes I am
01:02:02I love gardening
01:02:03I love being outside
01:02:04I get pulled away to do an interview
01:02:06Come back
01:02:07And I go to start planting a pot
01:02:09Start to move and dig the dirt away
01:02:13Ah!
01:02:14F***!
01:02:20We've got our water feature arriving from Water Features Direct
01:02:25And it's a huge, I guess a big dish
01:02:29With a big ramp of water
01:02:30So it pumps through
01:02:31And it's right in line with the front door
01:02:33What's the word we're looking for?
01:02:34Oh, feng shui
01:02:36Feng shui
01:02:38Feng shui
01:02:39Pushing the money into the front door
01:02:40Feng shui
01:02:41Shui
01:02:42Feng shui
01:02:45Yes
01:02:48We are done
01:02:49Like a dinner
01:02:50D-U-M
01:02:51It's been a remarkable
01:02:53Twelve weeks
01:02:54We've learnt a lot
01:02:55And built a beautiful house
01:02:56And we're very proud of it
01:02:59We're looking forward to auction day
01:03:01But until then
01:03:05Last judges feedback for the year, Troops
01:03:09Going on a holiday
01:03:11Darren walked in and said
01:03:12Ooh la la, that is a beautiful front door
01:03:17And that handle is heaven
01:03:19Christian Cole again
01:03:20Always delivers
01:03:21I agree with Shona
01:03:23Christian has delivered every year
01:03:24He's one of the best joiners, cabinet makers in the country
01:03:28This is another fantastic looking house
01:03:30Yep
01:03:31It's a cracking facade
01:03:32Like the James Hardy board and baton
01:03:34Is just such an elegant line
01:03:36For me, it's like quintessential
01:03:38Dalesford contemporary farmhouse
01:03:40Let's talk about the garden
01:03:42Well it's a very different garden
01:03:44Isn't it?
01:03:45Like there's no big flat lawns
01:03:46There's no massive trees
01:03:47It's very different
01:03:49Dave Franklin thinks this space
01:03:51Has been executed perfectly
01:03:53By Paul Grant
01:03:55I just love how you've got this
01:03:56Mirandering pathway through here
01:03:58The undulating mounds
01:03:59There's a bit more of a warmth
01:04:01Than having it just flat
01:04:02And he's got the water feature
01:04:04In the best spot
01:04:05Look at that
01:04:06But look how it hangs out
01:04:07Of the cliff side basically
01:04:08It's not sort of square in there
01:04:09It's beautiful
01:04:11Shona likes the way
01:04:12The boulders have been used
01:04:13As sculptures
01:04:14Throughout the garden
01:04:15A lot of the time
01:04:16You have the boulders
01:04:17As a retainer
01:04:19To sort of drive everything together
01:04:20But we've got the boulders here
01:04:22Looking like they've just fallen from the sky
01:04:24And just landed like meteorites
01:04:26I just love that
01:04:28How it sort of edges onto the grass
01:04:30Yeah
01:04:31Dave also called it
01:04:32Probably the most sustainable garden
01:04:34On the block
01:04:35He's really matching this
01:04:36Into the burrowed landscape
01:04:37Is what he says
01:04:38Got a lot of native plants in here
01:04:40Everything's pretty much local
01:04:41So this is a garden
01:04:42That actually
01:04:43Probably going to go better
01:04:44Than any other garden
01:04:45So very low maintenance
01:04:46Very low maintenance here
01:04:47Once it starts growing in
01:04:48You really won't need any water
01:04:50As you took it all in
01:04:51Darren said it's probably
01:04:52A 10 out of 10 front garden
01:04:54Just not today
01:04:55Hence I haven't said a word yet
01:04:57Go for it
01:04:59Because I'm underwhelmed
01:05:00And it's not because
01:05:02The garden is underwhelming
01:05:04It's because the planting
01:05:05And the age that they've used
01:05:08And the fact that it isn't the full picture yet
01:05:10I can see once it's done
01:05:12Once all of these big mounds go out
01:05:14And we have all the kangaroo paws
01:05:16And all the lovely Australian natives in here
01:05:18It's going to be breathtaking and beautiful
01:05:20But right now
01:05:21There's not enough in here
01:05:23For it to be really stimulating as a native garden
01:05:26Darren can see that the work that has been done is meticulous
01:05:30You can see that the craftsmanship and the workmanship
01:05:33On the grass
01:05:34Is gorgeous
01:05:35But the fact is they ran out of money
01:05:37They've spent a lot of money on the wine cellar
01:05:40And it means that they had to use very juvenile plants
01:05:43He thinks the size of the plants probably reflects a dwindling budget
01:05:48He's sure right about that isn't he?
01:05:50Well no cash here Scotty
01:05:52He understands it will be spectacular given time
01:05:56At auction it's going to be all that more developed
01:05:59And in spring it's going to be really really interesting
01:06:01Right now, today
01:06:03Yep
01:06:04It's underwhelming
01:06:05And what are we judging?
01:06:06We're judging today
01:06:07The judges were taking their jobs very seriously today
01:06:11Because they were all keenly aware of what's at stake
01:06:15As they said the winner tonight
01:06:18Could possibly win the block
01:06:21Whoever wins today will get $50,000 off their reserve
01:06:24Plus two cars
01:06:26Well why don't we all get together
01:06:27Go to the farmers arms
01:06:28Have a couple beers
01:06:29Maybe a few lemonades and a feed
01:06:31And we'll do the scores
01:06:32Mate, now you're talking
01:06:33Great, great idea
01:06:34That's it Robbie and Matt
01:06:35Not bad for a couple of hairdressers
01:06:37We'll take it
01:06:38Thank you
01:06:39Just a couple of guys
01:06:41Alright scores, here we go for the last time
01:06:57I'll be back in a sec, Shell
01:06:58No worries, I'll get out of the way
01:06:59Love you mate
01:07:00Love you too
01:07:01Dave Franklin
01:07:02Emma and Ben
01:07:03You've got a garden that's quite thought out
01:07:14It's actually planted perfectly
01:07:15It's pretty hard to beat
01:07:16Hand count
01:07:17I don't hate it
01:07:18I know it's pulverising
01:07:19But it kind of works with this garden
01:07:20It's a nine
01:07:21No it's not
01:07:22There's no greenery whatsoever around here
01:07:23There's not a lot going on
01:07:27Sonny and Alish
01:07:28There's these beautiful big Chinese elms
01:07:45Come auction
01:07:46I mean this is all going to be sitting in springtime
01:07:47They're going to look absolutely fantastic
01:07:49Robbie and Matt
01:07:53This is the garden that actually is probably going to go better than any other garden
01:07:56Very low maintenance
01:07:57Eight
01:07:59Okay there it is
01:08:01Some high nines there
01:08:02Speed
01:08:03Get out of the way
01:08:04Oh
01:08:05Okay
01:08:06Darren Harmer first
01:08:07Yes
01:08:08Emma and Ben
01:08:09Yes
01:08:10Emma and Ben
01:08:11Landscaping is always important
01:08:13But in Dalesford it's particularly important
01:08:15These are garden homes
01:08:17Pen and can
01:08:22You are meandering along this path
01:08:27It's lucky that it's a slow lifestyle here in Dalesford
01:08:30Darren with the big scores
01:08:34Britt and Taz
01:08:35Really good use of this space
01:08:40It's kind of a dead dull nothing area
01:08:43That's brilliant
01:08:44The facets, the design, the craftsmanship
01:08:52Nine and a half
01:08:55Oh my god I feel sick
01:08:57I'm about to piss my pants
01:08:59Robbie and Matt
01:09:00Robbie and Matt
01:09:01The craftsmanship and the workmanship is gorgeous
01:09:05The fact is they ran out of money and it means they had to use very juvenile plans
01:09:11Nine
01:09:12Do you remember when we used to give like sixes?
01:09:14Yep
01:09:15Oh don't worry there's been a few of them
01:09:16I wasn't going to say that
01:09:19Marty Fox
01:09:21Here we have been
01:09:22Here we have been
01:09:23I just love this experience of coming out and seeing that driveway
01:09:27It's so grand
01:09:32And in Cairn
01:09:33See me out
01:09:34The amount of buyers that specifically want a Japanese garden are pretty slim
01:09:43Britt and Taz
01:09:44This for me looks like an industrial ship
01:09:47This just does not match the level of luxury that is sitting behind these walls
01:09:54Sonny and a leash
01:09:56Don't cook us Marty
01:09:58Please don't
01:09:59There's a soul here
01:10:00There's a purpose
01:10:01It looks like House 4 has been an absolute dark horse
01:10:05It's Big Vickies
01:10:06You got a chance
01:10:11Marty's come to the party finally
01:10:13Been waiting all wool season
01:10:15Come on Marty
01:10:18Robbie and Matt
01:10:21Well it's a very different garden isn't it?
01:10:22Like there's no big flat lawns
01:10:24There's no massive trees
01:10:25It's very different
01:10:27Eight and a half
01:10:30Okay I'll see in a sec
01:10:34Anyone do the math?
01:10:35Are you actually calculating as you go or is it just blackout?
01:10:37We're half a point ahead I think
01:10:39I don't know
01:10:41Okay Shona, Blaise, Emma and Ben
01:10:45You see the value of a landscape designer
01:10:48Everything's planted to perfection
01:10:51Pan and can
01:10:53It's about taking it slow
01:10:54It's about movement
01:10:55It's taking in the aspects of the Japanese world
01:10:58It's about flowing
01:11:01Britt and Taz
01:11:02It's barren
01:11:03If they knew they had budget issues
01:11:04They could have said
01:11:05Look let's get rid of that
01:11:06And just turf it
01:11:08See the leash
01:11:10This is a garden even though
01:11:11Some people say
01:11:12Oh it's a bit plain
01:11:13It's going to change each season
01:11:18Robbie and Matt
01:11:19We've got the boulders here looking like
01:11:21They've just fallen from the sky
01:11:23And just landed like meteorites
01:11:25I just love that
01:11:26Oh
01:11:27Here we go
01:11:28Here we go
01:11:29The winner of week 12 on the block
01:11:31Dalesford

01:12:20Got a 10 from Marty

01:12:25That you can take home as well
01:12:27Hey
