00:00which is the Indianapolis Colts,
00:01the early surprise team of 2025,
00:04who now go up against the Chargers team
00:07that started as the hot team at 2025
00:11because they beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil.
00:14They followed that up with a Monday night win,
00:16and it was Charger, Charger, Charger.
00:18You now have a spot where I don't want to say
00:20either team needs it.
00:22That's a little strong,
00:23but I think an opportunity for a statement
00:26is up for grabs here with the Chargers
00:29and the Colts.
00:30It's a short number on LA.
00:32Injury news-wise, a little odd.
00:36I thought Joe Walt might be back,
00:37listed as doubtful,
00:39but the trade-off is a surprise return for Khalil Mack
00:43that I wasn't necessarily expecting.
00:45I'll tell you right out of the gates, Joe,
00:47I thought I would like the Chargers
00:49when I saw this game on the schedule
00:51heading into the weekend.
00:52I do like the Chargers in this game.
00:55I took their money line at minus 125.
00:57I don't want to deal with the point and a half
00:59because the game could be weird enough,
01:01but I think this is a spot for the Chargers
01:04to step up and handle business.
01:06This Indianapolis Colts resume,
01:08college football style,
01:09not really shiny.
01:11I know they win big.
01:12They've not done a good job, though,
01:14in beating the good teams they've played
01:17because they've not played a lot of good teams.
01:18That trip to LA against the Rams
01:20didn't work out for them.
01:21I think it's a similar story against the Chargers.
01:23We used to have a saying on college football today.
01:25I see it differently.
01:29It's been a while, right?
01:31And it's not to take away from the Chargers.
01:33I was on the Chargers last week, remember?
01:35It was one of my bad picks against Miami.
01:38Started fast, couldn't close the door.
01:40They get to win on a last-second field goal,
01:42and I'm all in on Justin Herbert
01:44and that passing attack
01:45that they've started to develop,
01:47obviously, with Ladd McConkie
01:48and some of those other playmakers
01:50in that offense.
01:52But the one thing I think
01:54when you look at this matchup, right,
01:56and you say, okay,
01:57with Khalil Mack coming back,
01:58most likely he'll benefit
02:00the rushing defense against Jonathan Taylor,
02:03and the Colts will need that type of effort
02:05on the road.
02:06I'm not so sure,
02:07and I know Vidal had 124 yards
02:10on that Miami defense,
02:11but I watched that game play out
02:13against Arizona,
02:14and Arizona has a very physical offensive line.
02:16They like to run the football.
02:17When James Conner was obviously there,
02:20it was Bam Knight last week
02:21that got a majority of the carries.
02:23They didn't have great success,
02:25and so I don't know in this matchup
02:27if L.A. is going to be able
02:29to run the football effectively
02:31as much as potentially Indianapolis.
02:34I like Daniel Jones.
02:35He's playing, you know,
02:37you can make the argument.
02:38I mean, you know,
02:3971% completion percentage,
02:401,502 yards,
02:42eight touchdowns, three interceptions.
02:44That completion percentage
02:45is incredible in today's game.
02:48I think that translates.
02:49They went out west one time
02:50and lost to the L.A. Rams,
02:52but I'll take the two and a half.
02:54I do feel, though, Kev,
02:56this game isn't over
02:57just because I think L.A.
02:58tries to attack them
03:00the way Brissette did
03:01with 275 last week.
03:02Yeah, I think that that's on the board.
03:04You do have Quinton Johnston
03:05returning for L.A.,
03:07which is nice.
03:08A couple of receivers down
03:09for the Colts,
03:11including Josh Downs.
03:12Travarious Ward
03:14is going to miss this one
03:15for Indy as well.
03:17The Colts,
03:18it's like Missouri, though.
03:21They're home every week.
03:24It feels like this is a road game, right?
03:27So you add that travel in,
03:28and here's the deal.
03:30And I know people are going to say
03:31it's unfair,
03:32and I get that.
03:34Right.
03:34But Daniel Jones,
03:37to me,
03:39as the season goes on,
03:41more and more and more,
03:42people are going to be like,
03:44yeah, we probably shouldn't
03:45have just assumed
03:47that was going to be great.
03:48He's played six games this season.
03:50His QBR is 80-plus
03:53in four of them
03:54against the Dolphins,
03:56the Broncos,
03:56the Titans,
03:57and the Raiders.
03:58And that Broncos one is the,
04:00you know,
04:00based on opponent,
04:01that's where you hang your hat on, right?
04:02But remember,
04:04if not for a leveraged field goal call,
04:07they lose that football game.
04:09But against the Rams
04:10and against the Cardinals,
04:12he was bad.
04:13Through three interceptions
04:14in just those two games here,
04:17Jesse Minter
04:17and this Chargers defense, Joe,
04:19I think make Daniel Jones
04:21pay the price.
04:22When the Colts turn it over,
04:24they're just not the same team.
04:25No, great points.
04:26And I agree.
04:27You would give the defensive edge
04:28to Minter and the Chargers.
04:30I want to look at it
04:32from the spread math perspective.
04:34Okay.
04:34We know Harbaugh, right?
04:36Chargers, Herbert, right?
04:38Herbert is looked at
04:39in multiple circles
04:40like he's won
04:41multiple playoff games.
04:44So, for giving the quarterback advantage,
04:45it's definitely Herbert over Jones.
04:47Yeah.
04:47Why are we under a key number right now?
04:49I'm just saying,
04:50two and a half,
04:51I mean...
04:52I'll tell you why I think.
04:54Because,
04:55and you referenced it,
04:57the Chargers game
04:59against the Dolphins
05:00does not...
05:02That's not going to get people
05:03running to the window
05:03to back this team.
05:05That is a largely
05:06lifeless Miami group
05:07that they allowed
05:08to score 27.
05:10And if not for
05:11an incredible combination
05:12of Herbert and Ladd McConkie,
05:14that might have been
05:14a Miami win.
05:16And at that point,
05:17the Chargers would have been
05:18sat with a three-game
05:19losing streak
05:20with losses
05:21to the Giants, Dolphins,
05:22and the Commanders
05:23blowing them out
05:24in their building.
05:24Right.
