00:00Huge crowds took to the streets in all 50 US states at No Kings protests on
00:09Saturday, venting anger over President Donald Trump's hardline policies, while
00:14Republicans ridiculed them as Hate America rallies. Organizers said 7
00:21million people marched in protests spanning New York to Los Angeles with
00:25demonstrations popping up in small cities across the US heartland and even
00:29near Trump's home in Florida. This is what democracy looks like, chanted
00:34thousands in Washington near the US Capitol where the federal government was
00:38shut down for a third week because of a legislative deadlock. Colorful signs called
00:44on people to protect democracy while others demanded the country abolish the
00:48Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency at the center of Trump's anti-immigrant
00:53crackdown. Tens of thousands of protesters filled the streets between Times Square
00:59and 14th Street in Manhattan, New York, as they rally in the anti-Trump protest.
01:05Demonstrators slammed what they called the Republican billionaires' strong-arm tactics,
01:10including attacks on the media, political opponents and undocumented immigrants.
01:16We do not even recognize our country anymore. Everything that makes this country great is
01:23disappearing. Our rights are disappearing. As I said in my sign, freedom of speech is
01:30disappearing. Separation of powers is disappearing. Freedom of the press. These are all the
01:34things that make America great for real, not by Trump's definition. And we need him out of here.
01:40I want Trump out of office. I want ice off the streets. I want immigrants feeling safe.
01:45I want brown people feeling safe. And I want Palestine free. And the Congo.
01:51It was not possible to independently verify the organizers' attendance figures. In New York,
01:58authorities said more than 100,000 gathered at one of the largest protests, while in Washington,
02:04crowds were estimated at between 8,000 and 10,000 people. Trump's response to Saturday's events
02:12was typically aggressive, with the U.S. President posting a series of AI-generated videos to his
02:18Truth Social platform, depicting him as a king. In one, he is shown wearing a crown and piloting
02:25a fighter jet that drops what appears to be faeces on anti-Trump protesters. His surrogates were in
02:31fighting form, too, with House Speaker Mike Johnson deriding the rallies as being Hate America
02:37protests.
02:38Obviously, tomorrow, nothing is going to change from what happened today. That's not how it
02:44works. But it helps to help strengthen each other, you know.
02:49It's just the oppression, how what he's doing to the immigrants of this country, what he's
02:55doing to the regular business company, to... It's just what he's doing. It's just the... I feel
03:07it through the people that I meet on a daily basis. They're scared. They're afraid. They don't
03:14know what to do. That is why I'm here today. I'm here for what... I'm here to represent those
03:20who are afraid to come out and exercise their right.
03:26While protests earlier this year against Elon Musk's cuts and Trump's military parade drew
03:31crowds, organizers say this one is uniting the opposition. Top Democrats, such as Senate
03:37Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Independent Senator Bernie Sanders, are joining what organizers
03:43view as an antidote to Trump's actions, from the administration's clampdown on free speech
03:48to its military-style immigration raids. More than 2,600 rallies were planned on Saturday,
03:55organizers said. The national march against Trump and Musk this spring had 1,300 registered
04:01locations, while the first No King's Day in June registered, 2,100.
