00:00Energy ministers from across Southeast Asia gathered for the 43rd ASEAN Ministers on Energy meeting in Kuala Lumpur
00:07to chart the region's energy future and reaffirm ASEAN's commitment to sustainability.
00:12This year's meetings focused on strengthening cross-border electricity connectivity,
00:17enhancing regional energy security, and accelerating renewable energy integration across the region.
00:23Deputy Prime Minister Fadila Yusuf, who is also Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister,
00:28said the 43rd AMEM marked another important milestone in ASEAN's pursuit of sustainable energy cooperation.
00:58For Energy Cooperation, running from 2026 to 2030, and also the announcement of ASEAN for Green Financing Initiatives, APGF.
01:10Building on this momentum, ministers agreed on a new ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation,
01:16which will focus on decarbonization, digitalization, and diversification of the region's energy mix,
01:22ensuring a more secure, connected, and clean energy future for ASEAN.
01:27The full operation of the Lao PBR Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore Power Integration Project was also announced,
01:34a key milestone in regional power integration and cross-border electricity trade.
01:39ASEAN also celebrated significant progress under its current energy plan,
01:44achieving a 25.5% reduction in energy intensity,
01:47and completing 9 of 18 planned cross-border-powered grid projects,
01:52a major step toward a fully connected regional grid.
01:55Malaysia steered the discussions towards a just, inclusive, and innovation-driven energy transition.
02:00We always consider the fate, level of success, and progress of all countries
02:08because we cannot cope with that obsolete understanding of progress
02:13when you tolerate or condone inequity and great disparity
02:19between regions or sub-regions, the rich and the poor.
02:24Throughout the four-day event, one message stood out clearly.
02:28No one should be left behind.
02:30Although our ASEAN nations are diverse in culture, language, and history,
02:36we are united by a single mission,
02:38a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future for our people.
02:43Together, we have deepened integration, expanded opportunities,
02:47and advanced technologies that connect our nations
02:50with clean, secure, and reliable energy for generations to come.
02:56With the 43rd AMM concluded,
02:57ASEAN stands united in its resolve to advance an integrated, secure,
03:02and low-carbon energy future for the region.
