00:00Can I ask a question for all the members of Parliament, not just the Nationals and members of the media,
00:05why weren't we doing this a year ago?
00:06Surely the proper process of Parliament is that we have draft regulations,
00:11the Legislative Committee looks at those regulations,
00:13and then they're changed before they are proclaimed.
00:16And then we don't have to put up with the mess that we've got.
00:19This report that we've seen here today was expected by us.
00:24We're not expecting great things from the government, to be honest with you.
00:27This is rushed legislation.
00:28They seem to have focused largely on the victims of firearms,
00:33the incorrect firearms use and things like that, not the day-to-day.
00:37Firearms use before this legislation kicked in was 90,000 people all over the state.
00:44With every background, every background feasible, every cultural background, every financial background,
00:51the firearms users, by and large, were not a big issue in the state of Western Australia,
00:54and that can be seen through any time stats that you look at.
00:57They're very low.
