Transcript
00:00Pop your eyes on these fellas, they're 588 kilos, they're Stevie Fox.
00:04They're very early there, they're out there, they're beautiful shoes, they're going to make 31, 31, I've got 950 right,
00:09I've got 2950 yard it, over 2950, nice heller, 950, quick, done, please, which way?
00:17We yarded just on approximately 1500 head here today, yeah it's the time of the year for us, like usually
00:23August and into the first part of September we don't yard a lot of cattle.
00:28Yeah, it's just the wet weather, the time of the year, the autumn calves are sold, the spring calves aren't
00:33quite there yet, so what's needed to be sold has been sold and this sort of 6 week period is
00:39just always a bit slower.
00:41Now CAFA was very active among the feedlots, the other feedlots were here but not buying as much, so fair
00:47to say they were probably buying the lion's share of the feeder wad cattle?
00:50Yeah, they were for sure, there's probably not enough feeder cattle for the other guys to operate comfortably.
00:58Price wise, how did you rate it to a fortnight ago?
01:00I thought the feeder cattle were quite solid, quite firm on that, your better end calves might have been a
01:09touch easier but there and about your lighter calves would be dearer.
01:14You know under 300 kilo calves were definitely dearer.
01:17So what sort of price wise do you reckon?
01:21Oh those smaller calves under that, they'd be every bit of six bucks, you know pen after pen type thing.
01:27Your heavier steers, they would be still in the mid fives to sort of 580s in that sort of top
01:34end range but just sort of probably not quite,
01:37and probably not quite as good of calves either as a fortnight ago.
01:40Where were they going, that lighter stuff going back in the paddocks?
01:43Back in the paddock, yep.
01:44Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:45Heifer wise, they tell me the heifer job was quite strong.
01:47Quite strong again, yes, yes, no it was, it'd be fully firm.
01:52Yeah, a lot of your heifers, you sort of, your better bred heifers had to have $5 from, or thereabouts,
01:58yeah.
01:58Sort of just, and not a lot more but sort of no less, yeah.
02:02So per head, dollars per head on your previous sale a fortnight ago, what do you reckon?
02:06Oh, like I say, I'd say just a fully firm market, some of those lighter steers might have been sort
02:12of 20 or 30, 40 dollars dearer.
02:15But just probably on that lighter end.
02:17I'll make 1,700, start me somewhere near to the bank, yeah.
02:19I got 1,700 I have, I got 1,700 bid, 710, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, I got 1
02:27,760 now.
02:281,760's on the rail close to me, 1,760 bid, 1,760 and out they roll.
02:35Done.
02:36No more.
02:377,860 Terry Johnson gets him.
02:397,870.
02:42Okay.
02:43You
