00:00At this moment we go to Mexico as dozens of collection centers have been opened to address
00:05the emergency caused by heavy rains there as well in five states and send aid to those affected
00:12while the federal government continues work to reopen roads to areas cut off by landslides and
00:18road collapses. Antonio Aranda brings us the report.
00:24Mexicans continue to gather aid to send to the thousands of people affected by the heavy rains
00:29that hit the center and east of the country in recent days.
00:35I believe that as people and as compatriots it is important to help all those within the
00:39country who are in distress and in need. I see this in children, babies, the elderly,
00:47and women. Right now, everyone is vulnerable and all need support.
00:51In Mexico City alone, more than 50 collection centers have been opened where people can bring
01:01various food items and other necessities at this time.
01:04We are receiving aid in the form of supplies for all those affected by the disaster.
01:12We are receiving bottled water, milk, soup, rice, beans, and very importantly, new blankets for babies as they will be used immediately.
01:26People are confident that everything they donate will soon reach those who need it most in states such as Barack
01:38Cruz, Puentla, and some of the most affected.
01:40I believe in you, and I believe in the government more than anything else.
01:48If they are going to donate to all those people who really need it, we have to be humanitarian,
01:57and, more than anything else, so many people who have things should donate them because,
02:01because right now it's for them, and God knows what tomorrow may bring for everyone else.
02:05The Mexican government reported that 191 communities remain cut off, so work to reopen roads remains a priority in order to deliver aid.
02:19We have 376 incidents or interruptions attended to, 118 in the process of being attended to, and yesterday, 25 were already resolved, meaning that progress has been made, although supplies need to be provided.
02:36But 25 of the interruptions have already been resolved.
02:39We have a total of 681 machines operating and 5,417 workers.
02:44The President Claudia Sheinbaum said that work is being done in a coordinated manner to assist all those affected by the rains.
02:56I would like to highlight several issues.
03:02First, there is coordinated work between the Mexican government, state governments, and municipal governments.
03:07Today, fumigation to prevent dengue is even beginning.
03:10So, as you can see, there is a lot of coordination and a lot of work being done.
03:16So, as you can see, there is a lot of coordination, a lot of work.
03:19The intense rain has left, 66 people dead, and 75 missing so far.
03:26In addition to the dozens of tons of aid that have been collected by civil society for the victims, institutions such as the Senate of the Republic will donate 55 million dollars to provide direct assistance to the victims.
