00:00we've got another tornado on the ground here so this would be again another active tornadic storm
00:04after an above historical average spring the tornado count has slowed in recent weeks
00:09but a new pattern is emerging that could bring storms and the threat of severe weather back into
00:14the picture you look at the severe weather setup we always look at that severe weather
00:18season expanding and we have a late season all the time in the transition of fall more concerned
00:24around the midwest for some wind damage maybe some hail as some upper level disturbances come across
00:30that area the jet stream is beginning to shift diving further south and drawing golf moisture back
00:34into play that combination is the spark that can set the stage for new rounds of thunderstorms and the
00:39potential for severe weather events later this fall october could be the biggest contrast set up
00:45temperature wise between the south and the northern plain states and that's where we may get more in
00:51the way of maybe some tornadoes late in the season in the midwest in the ohio valley as the jet becomes
00:57more amplified and dips further south it'll combine with deep gulf moisture feeding the next wave of storm
01:02potential very warm rich air that could get involved that could be a producer for tornadoes that upper
01:08pattern also brings strong winds aloft increasing the wind shear one of the main ingredients for fall
01:13severe weather setups typically it's wind damage a lot of wind reports come out in the fall season because of
01:19this transition stronger upper level jet coming into play straight line wind gusts are big but tornadoes
01:26not being ruled out after a long break it's a reminder that fall can still pack a punch
01:31and that the nation's second severe weather season could be just days away for accuweather i'm meteorologist tony
