00:00A convoy of 400 trucks carrying food, medicine and fuel was dispatched for Gaza from Egypt on Wednesday
00:06as Israel limits delivery, citing Hamas truce violations.
00:10NATO defense ministers are meeting in Brussels to agree on measures to combat Russian incursions into its airspace.
00:19The U.S. government shutdown enters its third week after the Senate again fails to pass a temporary funding bill
00:27the eighth time in recent weeks.
00:30A convoy of eight trucks drove through the Rafah border crossing from Egypt into Gaza on Wednesday
00:36according to the Egyptian Red Crescent.
00:39The convoy of 400 trucks was carrying 5,700 tons of food, more than 1,400 tons of medical supplies and equipment
00:46and around 2,500 tons of fuel.
00:49State-run Egyptian broadcasters showed footage of the convoy as it passed through the Egyptian side of the crossing.
00:54They were headed to an Israeli inspection area in the Karim Shalom crossing before being allowed into the enclave.
01:02It's part of phase one of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.
01:09The deal stipulated that pre-war levels of 600 trucks a day were to be allowed into Gaza
01:14to replenish the struggling population with critical food and supplies.
01:18Israel said, however, that it would only permit 300 trucks daily, citing alleged Hamas violations of the deal.
01:26Earlier in the week, Israel threatened to keep Rafah shut and reduce aid supplies
01:31as it accused Hamas of releasing the bodies of deceased hostages too slowly.
01:36Humanitarian groups have called on Israel to immediately abide by the terms of the deal
01:40and allow the agreed-upon number of trucks to enter this trip.
01:43The story of a family that never lost faith.
01:49David and Ariel Cuneo, who were kidnapped by Hamas in 2023,
01:54have been released after two years of captivity.
01:56No, yo no me enteré. Pasó el tiempo. Me enteré.
02:22Ay, mejor no hablar. Nervioso, nervioso.
03:51Bueno, NATO defence ministers are meeting for the first time since a barrage of drones
03:57and Russian jets violated NATO airspace in several countries in recent weeks.
04:02So naturally high on the agenda for discussion is an agreed set of the rules of engagement
04:06for NATO countries on how best to respond to future incursions.
04:11They'll discuss things like uniformity, how effective the response should be,
04:15how proportionate should be.
04:16But there will be a discussion, of course, about whether or not to shoot down Russian jets.
04:21Also on the agenda is military burden sharing for Ukraine,
04:24in particular through NATO's new Pearl Initiative, the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List,
04:30which essentially means that NATO countries can purchase weapons from the United States
04:34and give them to Ukraine.
04:36And then finally, Pete Hegseth, the US Secretary of War, is here today with his fellow defence ministers.
04:41But of course, they'll be also and surely be asking him about that anticipated,
04:46speculated moment as to whether US President Donald Trump will allow Ukraine
04:51to buy long-range Tomahawk missiles for use for strikes against Russia.
04:56That decision is not due until Friday, but no doubt the issue will loom large here today.

05:04Sweden is readying for war.
05:10Since 2024, it has invested around 7.7 million euros to upgrade its 64,000 shelters
05:18built during the Second World War and the Cold War,
05:22like this one in Sweden's capital of Stockholm.
05:25Delgeldam's car park seems like an ordinary underground parking area carved into the rock face,
05:32but it can actually also serve as a public shelter for 1.2,000 people.
05:38It can resist the blast and the debris and such things that comes with a bomb.
05:50And then it's airtight, so it even resists biogas or chemical gas or even nuclear waste.
06:03With tensions with Russia increasing since the full-skill war in Ukraine,
06:08the Swedish government has promised to increase its civil defence budget by seven times.
06:14But Johansson says the money allocated is unlikely to cover the cost of fixing all of the shelters,
06:21let alone building new ones.
06:24Sweden's civil defence minister warned last year that a military attack could not be ruled out.
06:30The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen,
06:36continued her tour of the Western Balkans with a visit to Belgrade,
06:41where she arrived yesterday evening.
06:43She met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Juro Matsut,
06:49and the main topics of the meeting were the growth plan for the Western Balkans,
06:54energy issue and reform agenda.
06:57According to the growth plan, Belgrade will receive 1,580,000,000 euros of financial aid.
07:06Distribution is conditioned by the regulation of media legislation,
07:11the updating of voter lists and progress in the rule of law as the part of mentioned reform agenda.
07:20She emphasised that now is the right moment for Serbia to accelerate reforms in the area of the rule of law and media legislation.
07:30When it comes to the energy situation, let us remind you that the oil industry of Serbia
07:36is under the US sanctions since the beginning of October.
07:41Considering the circumstances, von der Leyen added that Belgrade can count on support from Brussels.
07:48Mr. President, now is the moment for Serbia to get concrete about joining our union.
07:55My first point is that we need to see progress on the rule of law,
08:01the electoral framework and media freedom.
08:04I know these reforms are not easy.
08:07They take patience and endurance.
08:11They must include all parts of society and the political spectrum.
08:17But they are worth the effort.
08:20After her visit to Belgrade, Ursula von der Leyen will visit Kosovo and North Macedonia,
08:28ending her tour of Western Balkan countries this year.
08:32Previously, the President of the European Commission visited Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
08:39For Euronews from Belgrade, Nikola Kronić.
08:44The US Senate rejected a bill to reopen the government for the 8th time on Tuesday,
08:50ensuring the shutdown will enter its third week with lawmakers nowhere close to finding a resolution.
08:58Senators voted 49-45 on the GOP's House passed a continuing resolution,
09:03which would fund the government through late November.
09:06But they needed 60 votes to advance.
09:11At its core, the US government shutdown is a debate over health care policy,
09:16particularly the Affordable Care Act subsidies that are expiring for millions of Americans
09:21who rely on government aid to purchase their own health insurance policies.
09:27Democrats demand that the subsidies be extended,
09:30but Republicans argue the issue can be dealt with later.
09:34The health care debate has dogged Congress ever since the Affordable Care Act
09:39became law under then-President Barack Obama in 2010.
09:44The Senate on Wednesday will vote for a 9th time on the House passed stopgap bill,
09:49which would fund the government through November 21.
09:52the Senate on Monday 21.
10:22During our R&D process, we have made 200 of this and conducted more than 5,000 safety testing flights in extreme heat, high altitude, extreme cold, moisture area, so it actually can handle all the situation.
