00:13I think cross gates is one word cross gates it is what it is it's an interesting one I've
00:24always spelled it as one to cross and then gates to me but I don't know whether that's right or
00:32that's wrong it was one or two words couldn't tell you apparently two words is the correct
00:39format but I'm sure the debate will rumble on for quite some time meanwhile three and a half miles
00:44away C is also for Chapel town a suburb full of character and charisma and home of course the
00:53world-renowned Leeds West Indian Carnival which transforms the streets from this to this
01:00welcome to Leeds Carnival a beautiful event that happens every year every year we're down here to
01:07celebrate this fantastic occasion bringing all the community as one together and today is a perfect day
01:15lovely day for it oh the vibes amazing amazing it's everyone's having a lovely time I'm here for the
01:22first time I've never been here before heard a lot about it a reason to come was not only to explore
01:28the different cultures the sounds the taste the smells but it's genuinely a very healthy sort of an
01:35atmosphere where you see a lot of people irrespective of age color caste creed from where your background is
01:42what your ethnicity is
01:48C is for corn exchange a great one listed building completed in 1864 and now home to some of Leeds is
01:55best independent traders Chapel Allerton the calls and Cadena Cox are just some of the other C's of Leeds
02:04and now it's time to move on to D D is for Leeds Dock which in recent years has really made a splash for
02:12itself becoming a great place to work rest and play D is for Dortmund Square home to the Dortmund Drayman
02:19better known as the Barrelman there's not too many D's in comparison to some of the other letters but when
02:29it comes to the letter E there's likely to be a venue that springs to mind whether you're a football fan
02:35or not ah the mighty Ellen Road where the highs and lows of Leeds United are celebrating commiserated
02:41we're all Leeds aren't we elsewhere for E we have the picturesque East Keswick among others it's worth
02:47noting that some of the places referenced may not have an LS postcode but they are in the city of Leeds
