The M.K. Stalin-led DMK government in Tamil Nadu is reportedly considering a bill to ban Hindi movies, songs, and hoardings across the state, sources said. The move marks a sharp escalation in Tamil Nadu’s decades-long resistance to “Hindi imposition.” Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has often asserted that “only if a language survives, the race will survive.” The proposal, discussed in an emergency meeting, could soon be tabled in the Assembly.

00:00News that's coming in at the moment, coming in from the state of Tamil Nadu, where M.K. Stalin government has now declared a war on the Hindi language.
00:08Sources have told India today, Tamil Nadu bill will outlaw Hindi songs and Hindi movies in the state.
00:13Anti-Hindi language war has now erupted in the state of Tamil Nadu. Stalin government in a hurdle to ban Hindi in the state of Tamil Nadu.
00:21Sources are also revealing that this is a drastic Tamil Nadu language salvo that we are seeing coming in.
00:27The Tamil Nadu government sources have said emergency discussion has taken place.
00:31The point of discussion was whether there should be a ban on Hindi across the state of Tamil Nadu.
00:37The bill to be passed, the bill if it is passed, will be banning Hindi hoardings, Hindi boards, Hindi movies and even Hindi songs across the state of Tamil Nadu.
00:47My colleague Pramod Madhav is now joining me on the story.
00:49Pramod, this is a big news which is coming in at the moment.
00:53A full-fledged war coming in from the state of Tamil Nadu against the Hindi language.
00:58Well, it is seriously very big news that we are breaking right now on India today, Aishwarya.
01:02And the thing is that like yesterday an emergency meeting was held at the chief minister's residence along with the DMK, MP and lawyer.
01:08And R. Ilungo of the Supreme Court.
01:10And what happened is that like there were so many speculations.
01:12Is this about a standard operating procedure that should be brought for legal, you know, the campaigns and such and such after Karur incident.
01:18But what we come to know right now is that this is much, much bigger as the state government is actually planning to bring in a bill within the four days that we are going to have the assembly.
01:27From today onwards, we are going to have discussions on that as well.
01:30And this is about ban.
01:31Like I said, we have limited information.
01:34But these are like top source information which says that is Tamil Nadu government going to go ahead with a ban on Hindi hoardings and Hindi movies and songs and such.
01:42This is really huge as we know concerning the history of Tamil Nadu along with, you know, Hindi imposition and such.
01:47But this is the first information we've got that we are breaking on India today, Aishwarya.
01:50Right, you know, Prabhupada, this is big news which is coming in.
01:55We understand that there was a long discussion which happened.
01:57And if this bill somehow is passed in the assembly, then we could see the state banning Hindi songs, Hindi movies, even Hindi hoardings.
02:05So is this, do you believe, you know, keeping the Tamil Nadu elections in mind, that's what most of the people at the moment believe in?
02:12Well, Aishwarya, first and foremost, when it comes to hoardings in the state of Tamil Nadu, already there was a law that passed stated that like Tamil should be given prominence over any other language.
02:20And that is like, you know, in prominence as well.
02:22But right now, you know, we are not exactly sure if it's going to be a blanket ban or there's going to be some kind of like ban with certain restrictions and such.
02:30But, you know, trying to touch Hindi in this manner, stating that songs, movies are going to be in a way banned is something itself is a very big story.
02:37And we are waiting for more information on this particular one.
02:40Why the state decided to do so?
02:41What kind of ban it's going to bring?
02:43And why is it necessary to bring such a kind of ban at this time and hour, Aishwarya?
02:47Is it not the first time, you know, Pramod, that we are seeing MK Stalin speak about Hindi?
02:53We have seen over the past also how DMK, particularly as a party, has always been against the Hindi language.
02:58Hindi imposition is something that we very often hear coming in from the state of Tamil Nadu.
03:03Aswarya, recently there was one program called as the Kalaimamani Vildu and that is a kind of award given to artists.
03:10And even there he said like only if a language survives, the race will survive.
03:14So that way the chief minister has been very clear about protecting Tamil language on the whole.
03:18And there was such a kind of information that we've got, very, very important information.
03:23We are trying to also break it into different parts to find out exactly what the state is going to plan.
03:28But right now we've got the information that the state is targeting Hindi hoardings, Hindi boards, Hindi songs and Hindi movies, Aishwarya.
03:35You know, Pramod, what we understand will happen, it will be the Bharti Janata Party.
03:39The BJP will definitely pick it up.
03:42BJP time and again has been saying that there should be a unifying language which actually unifies the entire country.
03:49And that's where we see, you know, Hindi come in.
03:51We have seen how the chief minister also at various points, at various events has been speaking about the fact that at least the state of Tamil Nadu and other sudden states also feel that there is a Hindi imposition on them.
04:03So that's also something which we could see happening in the next couple of days.
04:07The BJP also pointing fingers at this.
04:10Certainly Aishwarya, it's a very, very important issue when it comes to the state of Tamil Nadu, considering the Hindi, you know, fight against Hindi imposition, not just now, but back in the 1950s itself.
04:18And in a way, like constantly, DMK government and chief minister has been constantly stating that you have to say the language of Tamil and any kind of like, you know, bringing it, giving importance to any kind of exams or such in where Hindi is given importance.
04:32Immediately, DMK has raised its voice saying that it's a form of imposition.
04:35But amidst this, can the state go ahead and bring in a blanket ban or what sort of ban they are planning for?
04:41We are trying to get more information on this matter as well, Aishwarya.
04:43Thank you, Pramod, giving us all those details.
04:45This is big news which is coming in from the state of Tamil Nadu.
04:48News that's coming in.
04:56The endless betrayal of Beatty in the state of West Bengal.
05:00A massive reveal now.
05:01Male friend molested her first.
05:04Friend Asif Ali was the one who molested the MBBS student.
05:08Molester friend Asif Ali has now been arrested.
05:10She trusted and went out with him.
05:13In fact, he was the sixth monster to be arrested.
05:16This is big news which is coming in from the state of West Bengal.
05:19The investigations in this case are still underway.
05:22It is the endless betrayal that we are seeing happening in the state of West Bengal.
05:25One after the other, some kind of instances are coming to the fore.
05:29It was the male friend who molested her first.
05:32Friend Asif Ali, he's the one who molested the MBBS student.
05:35And because he was a friend, she trusted him and went out with him.
05:40Asif Ali was in fact the sixth monster to be arrested in this case.
05:44The investigation in this case is ongoing.
05:46Listen in to what the police commissioner has to say.
06:05What this government is the victim must have been committed to.
06:11The victim must have been committed...
06:16The other than the other parties have been involved in the investigation.
06:22The other people have been involved in the investigation.
06:24We have seen how there has been massive politics with regards to this latest case of rape which is coming in from the state of West Bengal.
06:54There was a very demeaning statement that was made by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and she had said that the authorities were responsible.
07:01Why did they allow the girl to move out such late at night?
07:04She even was questioning the girl for moving out of the campus after midnight.
07:09We have seen how the BJP also is raking up politics and saying that one after the other.
07:13All these instances are pointing towards the fact that despite having a woman Chief Minister, the state of West Bengal is not safe for women.
07:20What we understand now, the investigations are still taking place.
07:24And now the investigations are pointing towards the fact that the male friend, he is the one who molested the girl first.
07:32The friend was Vasifali. He is the one who molested the MBBS student.
07:37My colleague Rajesh Saha is now joining me on the story.
07:39Rajesh, this is big revelation which is coming in from what we understand.
07:43The investigations are now pointing towards the fact that the person who molested her first was in fact her friend and she went out with him because they were friends.
07:51Absolutely, Ashwarya. This is the biggest development into this case of gang rape of a medical student in Durgapur.
08:00And after the press conference conducted by the commissioner yesterday, we have seen the main friend, who is a classmate of the medical student,
08:08who has been arrested by Durgapur police after being questioned for at least four days.
08:14He was on the scanner of cops since the very first day because the medical student left the hospital in the evening of 10th October after being accompanied by this friend only.
08:28And when she returned to the college campus, at that time also she was being accompanied by this friend and he was her classmate.
08:36And his role was on the scanner of the provisionalcy because the father of the victim had also alleged against this friend of the medical college.
08:47So he was being questioned by the coach from the very first day.
08:51He was taken to the crime spot yesterday.
08:54We have seen the police accompanied him to the crime spot for reconstruction of crime.
08:59Since then, it was a hint that he can be arrested by the cops.
09:04After conducting the press conference, police have confirmed that the friend of medical college, medical college student has been arrested.
09:11He has been placed under arrest for his direct involvement in the case because police have said that this is not a gang rape.
09:19This was a case of rape because only one person was involved in sexual assault.
09:25And this person was the guy who sexually assaulted the medical student.
09:30And in the charges, the main friend and classmate of the medical student has been arrested by the police.
09:37Right, you know Rajesh, we are also understanding that the family also has been making statements and they are saying that the only reason why the survivor went out was because they were friends, they were studying together.
09:49The police investigation also at the moment is pointing towards the same thing.
09:53We have seen how politics also, Rajesh, has started to play out.
09:56The BJP now pointing fingers at the TMC government in the state of West Bengal.
10:00Absolutely, the BJP is continuously blaming the Bengal government led by Mamata Banaji Sarkar.
10:08And also they are also raising their finger at Bengal police also.
10:14But police have said that their investigation is on till now.
10:20They are cooperating with the victim's family.
10:23And all the father of the father of the victim had alleged against five persons.
10:30And all these five persons were arrested.
10:33Three accused were arrested within 24 hours.
10:36And other two accused were arrested within 72 hours.
10:40And the prime accused was arrested finally after being questioned for at least four to five days.
10:48So there is no lapse in the investigation.
10:50As per the police sources, police is claiming they are cooperating with the family of the victim also.
10:56They will ensure justice, so that justice can be delivered as soon as possible.
11:00Because all arrests have been made within a week.
11:04And police is now claiming the charge sheet will be filed as soon as possible in this case.
11:08Aishwarya.
11:09Right. Thank you, Rajesh, giving us all those details.
11:12The investigation in this horrific rape case is underway in the state of West Bengal.
11:15It's the Durgapur horror case that has shocked Bengal.
11:21And it is now seeing new twists and turns.
11:24The police have ruled out gang rape.
11:26They are citing that the survivor's own statement and the forensic evidence are now pointing towards the fact that this was not gang rape.
11:32The survivor's account is painting a chilling picture.
11:35Officers are saying that there was only one man who sexually assaulted the medical student, the prime accused, Vasifali.
11:49He, in fact, was a friend and a classmate of the survivor.
11:51He's now been grilled for four days.
11:53He's now been arrested and taken to the crime scene.
11:56A reconstruction of the crime scene is now being done.
11:58Five people have been arrested so far, but the political blame game is intensifying.
12:02BJP's Suvendu Adhikari is alleging that the probe was delayed because there was pressure.
12:08BJP is claiming TMC leaders blocked action and the police were, in fact, acting like party guard.
12:32When my friend didn't come, they grabbed me and took me inside the jungle.
12:37They then forced me to lay down and put hand on me.
12:41One of the three men opened my pant and started penetrating.
12:45When I started screaming, they told me that if I scream, they will call more men and they would do it too.
12:51So just let me do it.
13:23You are being with the police.
13:24I used to say the gentleman named Mahmata Wanarji.
13:25She wrote my sister at 12 o'clock.
13:28Maybe she's a little kid or not.
13:29If it happens, we don't have toby any questions.
13:31We didn't ask him about that.
13:32He was telling me 10 times in the place of the house.
13:34You did rape my sister.
13:36Who did he ask?
13:36She didn't mean he.
13:37No police teacher.
13:38He didn't have a friend of the college.
13:40He told us about it.
13:42So how did he do it whatever happens?
13:44I called him in the hospital.
13:48I was told to the guy that I was raped and then he came to the school.
13:53Who called you?
13:55His friend was called.
13:57How did you call him?
13:58Approximately, 10.30.
14:01What happened with your sister?
14:04He was crying.
14:05What would he say to me?
14:06He said, come to my position.
14:08What would he say to me?
14:11He said, I was concerned.
14:13He was concerned about everything.
14:15We were not aware of the residents.
14:17I have already paid 80 lakhs, but he has not given proper security.
14:33Do you think there was no proper security arrangement in college?
14:37No, no.
14:38There is no security.
14:40There is no security.
14:42There is no security.
14:44There is no security.
14:45There is no security.
14:46Where will the young people go?
14:47There will be no security.
14:49I think we will be very happy.
14:52Let's go to our URISA, and the UNHRA, and the UPP.
14:57We will see what happens.
14:58When it happens, they will encounter it.
15:01What do you think of the young people?
15:06As per the technical and scientific evidences collected,
15:12we have found that physical sexual assault has been committed by one of the accused person.
15:29And what is the involvement of all these five are being investigated?
15:35There is no question.
15:37It is nothing but no matter.
15:38Every country will meet the role of the protection of the government.
15:43The police and security will be the problems of the government.
15:47The police minister is the chief minister.
15:50The chief minister is the same.
15:52The chief minister is the same.
15:54The force of the Indonesia whoifies the government.

16:26A doctor's son is saying that these people don't give money.
16:30The money is free to roam outside in the night.
16:5420 people have been charged to death.
16:57A bus burst into flames.
17:00This news coming in from Rajasthan's Jaisalmer city.
17:03At least 20 people were killed as the bus was en route to Jodhpur.
17:07It burst into flames in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer.
17:10The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
17:13The officers are focusing on identifying the victims through the DNA testing.
17:17The images that you are seeing on your screens are of the charred bus.
17:20There were 20 passengers.
17:22They were the ones who were sitting in this bus.
17:24This bus was going from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur.
17:28Now the DNA testing is being done to identify the victims.
17:33And those victims can be traced through the DNA testing.
17:36Listen to me.
17:38The best way it was, the best way it was,
17:41I have never seen it before.
17:43We will test the DNA testing.
17:45Some of them have gone through the car.
17:48But this is a whisfort.
17:50And the compressor is like,
17:51until the FSL will go away.
17:54And the people who have gone through the front,
17:56and there was so much vision.
17:58And the only problem was the only one.
18:00The only problem was the only one.
18:02The only problem was the only one.
18:04We can't speak this.
18:06But it seems that 30-40 people were at least at least at least at least.
18:10The Prime Minister saying that one of the things that led to 20 people dying
18:15was the fact that there was only one exit in the bus.
18:18From what we are understanding at the moment,
18:20at least 20 people, they have been killed.
18:22The bus was en route to Jodhpur.
18:24It burst into flames.
18:25Now this happened while it was travelling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur.
18:29My colleague Devankur is now joining me on the story.
18:32Devankur, if you can tell us what exactly is the investigation pointing towards at the moment,
18:38from what we are understanding, this bus was en route.
18:42And on the route only, it burst into flames.
18:44We understand close to 20 passengers are dead in this case.
18:49At least 20 people have been killed in this massive tragedy
18:54which happened on the Jodhpur-Jodhpur route.
18:57The bus was supposed to reach Jodhpur in about four hours' time
19:02after it had left Jaisalmer.
19:04Jaisalmer starting point at around three in the afternoon.
19:09But soon after, the rear part of the bus went up in the flames.
19:13And even before all the passengers could have realised
19:16what was the magnitude of this entire tragedy,
19:19the fire had engulfed almost the entire bus.
19:22The Rajasthan chief minister had breached the location late on Tuesday night.
19:28You know, 19 passengers were killed at the spot itself while one more passenger got killed
19:35while being taken to Jodhpur.
19:38The bodies have been shifted to Jodhpur for DNA testing.
19:42What exactly led to the fire?
19:44There are several accusations that have been levelled.
19:48There is this insinuation that the bus was recently converted into a sleeper AC bus
19:53and that proper testing had not been done.
19:57But what exactly were the reasons is something which investigations can tell.
20:01At this point in time, a lot of grief, a lot of mourning for the family members of those
20:06who have passed away in this tragic accident on the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer route.
20:13Keshwarya.
20:15My colleague Devankur Vadavan giving us the details.
20:17The investigations in this case are still underway.
