00:00We have a crime problem here in Victoria, and the levels of offending we're seeing
00:04in our communities are simply unacceptable.
00:07This week, I announced major reforms to how Victoria Police operates.
00:12These changes will free up thousands of police hours every year, putting more of our members
00:18back on the streets where they can prevent crime before it happens.
00:21We're cutting bureaucracy, modernising technology and reshaping how we work, all to better support
00:28the front line, the backbone of Victoria Police.
00:32That includes new initiatives to release sworn officers from station counter duties, dedicated
00:38admin teams to help process arrests faster, and the establishment of a new State Crime
00:44Coordination Centre, a 24-7 hub using advanced data and intelligence to deploy resources in
00:52real time and stop crime before it occurs.
