00:00What's up, everybody? It's your boy Ramsey welcoming you back to Better Day Sports.
00:04We wanted to go ahead and get you guys started because, wow, talk about a crazy, crazy NFL weekend, right?
00:11We saw a lot of things happening around the league.
00:13We saw the Broncos march into Philly and beat the Eagles, the Colts blowing out the Raiders, the Chiefs losing on Monday night football.
00:21Talk about a crazy, crazy week five.
00:24And we got it all right here for you on Better Day Sports.
00:27So we want to go ahead and just dive into it with this weekly gridiron recap and talk about some of these games that I just mentioned before.
00:34So let's start with that most recently updated one, the Chiefs and the Jaguars.
00:39What is going on in Kansas City, right?
00:43We know it's not necessarily Pat Mahomes' fault.
00:45We know that he is missing some pieces very desperately, most notably named Rasheed Rice, who should be coming back in about two weeks,
00:51which will be a very, very pleasant sight for sore eyes around there in the Kansas City organization.
00:56I'm sure they will be elated to be able to insert him into the lineup since he is their true number one wide receiver.
01:04And I'm sure that Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown will appreciate his presence as well because his presence makes their jobs easier,
01:11which means they're going to produce more, more touchdowns, more options, more room for Pat Mahomes to eat, right?
01:16But right now, two and three to start the season?
01:19I don't know. Yes, they had some tough matchups against the Chargers and whatnot.
01:23But still, I think that right now, is this finally going to be the trend of us seeing the downfall of the Chiefs dynasty?
01:31Is it worth asking? I mean, if we look at it on paper, is a two and three team really intimidating five weeks into the season?
01:39Even if they went to the Super Bowl last year and they are the so-called, you know, dynasty that they are.
01:45Are they really that intimidating as a team as they used to be?
01:49Yes. Patrick Mahomes is still Patrick Mahomes.
01:52But I think it's worth it worth us discussing.
01:55So let's go ahead and dive into that weekly gridiron recap, right?
01:58Like we were saying earlier, the Chiefs lost on Monday Night Football.
02:01But let's talk about some of these other games.
02:03A depleted 49ers team beat the Rams.
02:08Wow. OK, what's going on here?
02:09I mean, shout out to Mac Jones, right?
02:11He went for 342 and two touchdowns.
02:13And he didn't have Ricky Pershaw or Jawan Jennings or Brandon Ayuk, for that matter.
02:18So the fact that Mac Jones and Christian McCaffrey were able to steady the ship and beat Matthew Stafford, Puka Nakua, and the Rams is nothing short of impressive.
02:27Big shout out to Kyle Shanahan for getting them ready to play on Sunday and to produce at that level that they were able to produce so they could bring that win home.
02:35And let's talk about another more impressive win.
02:39The Colts blowing out the Raiders, right?
02:42So is this really the Indiana Jones era of the Indianapolis Colts?
02:47As much as a skeptic as I have been and still are to a certain extent, right?
02:53They look really good.
02:55They look really good.
02:56Jonathan Taylor had three touchdowns on Sunday, and it looks like that their offense is just as potent in a run game as it is in a passing game.
03:03Daniel Jones is doing what he has said that he is going to do with this Indianapolis Colts offense.
03:09And he has Michael Pittman looking like a very productive receiver that we are used to seeing.
03:13Josh Downs is looking like a very reliable slot receiver.
03:17And Tyler Warren looks like an arguable version of Jeremy Shockey this early in his career.
03:24I know it's very early to say, but just based off of comparisons and productivity alone, I know it's not Brock Bowers' level of productive.
03:32But hats off to Tyler Warren for opening up that Colts offense because we know how it used to look before.
03:38And now they look good.
03:40They're at the top of the AFC South along with the Jaguars.
03:43And it looks like it might come down to these two teams on who's going to take that AFC South division home.
03:47And let's talk about this Broncos game.
03:51Martin and Affiliate beating the defending champion Eagles.
03:55I don't know if this is more so a testament to how the Broncos played or if it's more so a shining light on what possibly could be going on in Philadelphia as a team.
04:06And could this be a case of Super Bowl hangover maybe?
04:10Who knows?
04:11We've been hearing rumors that A.J. Brown is not happy.
04:15We've been hearing murmurs that the tush push, as we all know, should be banned.
04:21Maybe the outside noise is starting to get to this team a little bit because even what their bread and butter is, running the ball has been an issue.
04:29And this is Saquon Barkley in the backfield.
04:32You have Jalen Hurts.
04:33You have options in the run game.
04:35You have options in the passing game.
04:36It should not be as difficult as they are making it out to seem to continue the continuity that they have as a championship winning team.
04:44But I don't know.
04:45Maybe the blood and the water is boiling in Philly.
04:49And we're going to have to find out in a couple of weeks if they're going to be able to right the ship and let us be reminded on why they are the defending champions of the league.
04:59Moving on.
05:00Cam Moore got his first win of his career in Arizona against the Cardinals.
05:04And I know he's a rookie quarterback, but I think this is more so just a testament to what the Cardinals was not able to do and not necessarily what Cam Ward was able to do.
05:18And that's no knock to him, but he didn't score a touchdown.
05:22He also did not throw an interception.
05:25So there's a lot of empty passes in there, but there are completions.
05:29I think that it's just more growth as a quarterback that he is just learning how to manage the game at a better level to allow the NFL game to slow down for him.
05:38So big shout out to Cam Ward for his first win in Arizona.
05:42And this could be a turning tie for the Titans to get things together.
05:46Who knows?
05:47You know, you always have to be optimistic to a certain point.
05:49Right.
05:50But moving on this shootout in Tampa Bay with the Seahawks and the Buccaneers.
05:56There's a couple of points in this game that I want to discuss.
05:59First and foremost, the quarterback play for both teams and a wide receiver play for both teams were amazing.
06:04And Mecca Igbuka looks like that dude.
06:10And I mean, he looks like a seasoned, seasoned NFL professional when this is his rookie season.
06:17And I know the rumors when Mike Evans comes back, his role is going to change.
06:22Godwin is back in the lineup.
06:23I hear that.
06:24What I am saying is I do not care.
06:27Igbuka has proven that he is not only an important part of this offense,
06:30but since Mike Evans has been out, besides Bucky Irvin and now recently Rashad White,
06:35he's showing that he is the number one receiver in that current offensive set.
06:40And that was even when Godwin had came back.
06:42And I understand, yes, Godwin has to get worn back up and work back in at a slower rate.
06:47I understand the injury that he's coming back from.
06:49But what I am also saying is Igbuka has been steering that ship along with Baker Mayfield.
06:54And I think that they have the chemistry now to where they can prove that
06:57they don't really need to make any adjustments even when Mike Evans comes back.
07:02It's just going to be that much more beautiful as an offense
07:04when he does come back and get to see it at full strength.
07:08So with that being said, also, shout out to the Seahawks and Jackson Smith and Jigba.
07:14He looks like a superstar wide receiver out there in Seattle.
07:18Him and Darnold have amazing synergy and chemistry on the field.
07:22And just the Seahawks team as a whole, I get it that this was a very tough game,
07:28but they put up a lot of points.
07:29They competed.
07:30And with what we saw with Darnold and with the Vikings last year and what he's doing with Seattle,
07:36I think that he has proven that he is a very, very efficient and sufficient quarterback in the NFL
07:43to know that we're able to see how great he has been performing with the pieces that he has over the past two seasons.
07:49Nothing, nothing short of remarkable.
07:52And let's talk about the last game that I wanted to discuss on our plate,
07:56and that is the Bills dropping a game at home against the New England Patriots.
08:03Wow, I get it.
08:05Teams lose.
08:06A lot of teams don't usually get the opportunity to go undefeated in the NFL.
08:09That's fine.
08:10But when it comes to the Bills, those are one of those teams, at least for this season,
08:15and based on the talent that they have at quarterback is just when they do lose,
08:18you kind of sit back and look at who they lost to, especially a game like this.
08:23If we go back and look at week one when they were struggling against the Ravens
08:27and came back and somehow miraculously won that game,
08:30that was the expectation that we have for the Bills this season.
08:33And that is still the expectation that we have for the Bills this season.
08:36But dropping one to the New England Patriots at home, it is a bad loss for them right now.
08:42I mean, and I get it, sometimes you need a loss like this to reset, come back together as a team.
08:47But this was a game that could have easily been won for the Bills.
08:51I mean, if we even look at the numbers, when you look at the Patriots rushing,
08:56they had three running backs.
08:59And if you count Drake Mays' scramble, they had four rushers and did not get 100 yards rushing.
09:09That is a problem.
09:10And I think that that is also a testament to them trying to figure out the synergy in the backfield
09:15with Mondre Stevenson and Travion Henderson.
09:19I think that this might now be the time for them while their offense is growing
09:24to incorporate Travion Henderson a lot more in their offense.
09:29We know how electric that we saw how he played in the preseason.
09:34We've seen flashes of it in a regular season,
09:36but I think it's more so just due to how the structure is for that team on why they're struggling
09:41a little bit.
09:42But this was the Stephon Diggs revenge game.
09:47I mean, over 140 yards receiving.
09:51He was ironically complaining about the ball, not getting the ball thrown his way last week.
09:57He was promised more targets, and boy, the drag may deliver.
10:01Yes, it seemed like he figured out that Stephon Diggs will be his number one target moving on.
10:06And as long as they have that understanding,
10:08I think that this offense will do nothing but improve out there in New England.
10:13So the sky is definitely bright out there in Boston,
10:16and they should be very excited and content,
10:19but also focus for next week and the rest of the season.
10:22But this is a very monumental win for the Patriots, definitely.
