00:00I am a big fan of seeing an MVP price
00:04and telling everyone how terrible it is
00:06because occasionally there are folks
00:08who just get too much love in the market,
00:11too much credit in the market,
00:13and I'm not doing a bit here, I promise.
00:16Go ahead.
00:17Jayden Daniels missed like two weeks of football
00:19and they were booking him with like the fourth best odds,
00:21and that was ridiculous.
00:22Jayden Daniels has since moved back.
00:24He's played well.
00:25I actually think you could argue
00:26there's some decent value on the Jayden number.
00:29Okay.
00:30I say that to say Mahomes is booked under five to one,
00:34second best odds.
00:35They're two and three.
00:36What?
00:37No, it's just.
00:38You don't even know what I'm going to say.
00:40Go ahead.
00:41I think you're going to disagree with me now
00:42based on what you just reacted.
00:45I understand the Mahomes number.
00:47I can't crush it.
00:49Everything good that will happen for this team this year
00:54will all be credited to him.
00:56much more accurately than the nonsense we dealt with last year
01:03when they were 15 and two and he wasn't playing well
01:05and we pretended that everything was fine.
01:07In what is a muddy MVP race,
01:11I'm not betting Mahomes at the number,
01:14but if Mahomes was 10 to one,
01:16I think there'd be a level of temptation personally.
01:19So, I think that his number is interesting,
01:23but you could definitely argue, Joe,
01:26that maybe there's some meat on the bone with that Goff number.
01:28What do you think about these two quarterbacks?
01:29Well, I think Goff is deserving.
01:31He's never given enough credit.
01:33I mean, he's looked at as a system guy
01:35and just looked at as never one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL
01:39and all he does is produce.
01:40And we talk about completion percentage.
01:43We talk about the ability to find open receivers.
01:45And I understand that he's had his history of troubles,
01:49but Jared Goff is still one of the more accurate quarterbacks in the NFL.
01:53And if you're starting a franchise,
01:55you would consider Jared Goff to be a potential starter
01:59when you look at the weapons around him.
02:01So, again, I would buy more into Jared Goff right now than Pat Mahomes.
02:06And that's not a knock on Mahomes.
02:07It's just big picture where we are right now.
02:11I believe there's more upside with Detroit.
02:14I think they're a younger team.
02:15They're playing more cohesive than I see with Kansas City right now.
02:19And I understand what you're saying about Pat Mahomes
02:22because they're completely now one-dimensional.
02:25They don't have a hint of a rushing attack.
02:27Yeah.
02:28And I understand they ran it a little bit against Jacksonville,
02:31but if you over the course of the season,
02:33they're completely one-dimensional.
02:34You know, they average them for four games, 66 yards per game.
02:39So if they can't run the football, that means it's got to be Mahomes.
02:42Who else is it going to be?
02:44So that's why you're – but my point is when you have an above-average defense,
02:51you want to run the football to keep more explosive offenses on the sidelines.
02:55They don't have that right now.
02:56They have the offense that they had back five or six years ago,
03:00and now their defense is slightly getting exposed by more explosive teams
03:04in the conference, and they're losing games.
03:07So I want to do the golf thing, but just with Mahomes.
03:12Go ahead.
03:12You know what I'm worried about with Kansas City?
03:14Andy Reid.
03:16They went out there.
03:17Offense was great.
03:18And I think in the post-game press conference, like,
03:20yeah, we were a little aggressive in spots.
03:22Hold on, Andy.
03:23You punted on your opening drive on a fourth and two in Jacksonville territory.
03:29You're not too aggressive.
03:30There is this curse on the best play callers that they're all conservative.
03:35Reid, McVay, Shanahan.
03:37They all get in fourth and twos.
03:39They're like, come on, just let me punt.
03:40I don't know what it is.
03:41It's this curse that they're all dealt, that they can't be great play callers
03:45and Dan Campbell-level aggressive, whatever it may be.
03:49I think Mahomes is live.
03:52It's early.
03:53I struggle with the golf piece for this reason.
03:56I've said this countless, countless times.
03:58The number one thing to get you in that MVP conversation is winning games.
04:04Okay.
04:04Last year, the two number one seeds were these two quarterbacks
04:08and neither were in the race.
04:11Now, Mahomes, it's easier to explain.
04:13His numbers were bad.
04:14Got through for 4,637 passing touchdowns and wasn't in the race.
04:19But I wonder if he does it again, if he protects the football a little bit more
04:25and we get 4,500 yards, 35 touchdowns, and a number one seed line.
04:31And they're not my number one seed right now.
04:32Now, I wonder if golf doing it again will actually have him in the race.
04:39It feels like he's in it earlier this year than he was last year, Joe.
04:43There's some potential for golf in a way that there wasn't.
04:47Are you backing either of these guys quickly in the process?
04:49I would back off, but he's similar to Baker Mayfield, I would say.
04:52No respect.
04:53I would just say that.
04:54Baker puts up numbers.
04:56He's in the conference.
04:57Baker's getting.
04:57But now he is.
04:58But I'm just saying, but to go back to Mahomes,
05:04if they're 10 and 7, you're going to give them the MVP?
05:07If they're 11 and 6?
05:09No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
05:10He won't win at a 10.
05:11He will not win at a 10 and 7.
05:12But that's my point.
05:13I believe they're trending to that type of record.
05:16So I wouldn't buy in right now.
