The Haryana government is mulling sending state police chief DGP Shatrujeet Kapur on leave after the suicide of senior IPS officer ADGP Y Puran Kumar, who was found dead at his Chandigarh residence on October 7.

00:35There have been larger ramifications now, two days after suicide.
00:39And remember, the complaint by the IS officer wife, Amit Kaur, that has now also turned the tables across as far as the government is concerned,
00:47which has now mulled action. And what we know is, in a short while from now, fresh orders will be issued.
00:53One is regarding the transfer of the ISP, but a bigger development is about the DGP, who has been asked to proceed on leave.
01:01What we also know is, there would be an officiating DGP in the meanwhile, names of Opie Singh, who is a 1990 Qadar Haryana officer.
01:10The other name is Alok Nitil, who is 1993.
01:13So, these are developments which are fast taking place.
01:16Remember, there are serious, one, charge of abetment to suicide.
01:21Second is about atrocity as far as the SESP Act is concerned.
01:25The Chandigarh Police is yet to do an FIR.
01:28These are sequence of events which are taking place.
01:32But remember, the charge has been that there has been so much pressure created as far as transfers, regarding areas, regarding the treatment meted out to the officers,
01:43confirmed that this actually forced him to commit suicide.
01:46Now, a senior officer, the rank of ADGP, somebody who's posted as IDP, wrote it.
01:50But there is another case to it, which is the side where there was corruption allegation leveled against his gunman, who is Sushil Kumar, who was arrested and subsequently sent on judicial custody.
02:04So, that is the second angle which is coming into it.
02:07But meanwhile, to ensure that this controversy further does not escalate, the Haryana government has now really taken matters into their own hands.
