00:00NVIDIA's planned regional HQ building touches down at its proposed Taipei location,
00:07the highlight of a keynote speech at this year's Computex trade show.
00:12But when it comes to the real-life landing site for this ship,
00:15Taipei, we've had a problem.
00:17Construction at the firm's preferred location here in the city's northern
00:20Shirlinbeito district has stalled over land rights.
00:24The plot's current contract owner, insurance giant Shinkong,
00:27reportedly wants more than 460 million U.S. dollars to hand this plot over to NVIDIA.
00:33Now that's over 300 million more than they've paid so far.
00:36And that has some city councillors asking, who will pay?
00:52The dispute is over two plots of land, known as T17 and T18,
00:56at a city science park occupied by Shinkong.
00:59Given the land rights dispute, the city is now suggesting this nearby alternative plot.
01:04But it's smaller, and would likely require buying up adjacent private land to meet NVIDIA's needs.
01:10A new regional headquarters from the world's largest company,
01:29with its Taiwan-born CEO, would be a prize for any city.
01:33And now, Taiwan's central government is stepping in to assist NVIDIA,
01:36saying other cities are still on the table.
01:39I think Huayda, of course, is there to be his own study.
01:45Now, he's still concerned about this area of北四科.
01:49But according to our understanding, Huayda,
01:52he also表示 that he doesn't have any other places.
01:57Cities across the country have already raised their hands,
02:00from New Taipei City in the north to Kaohsiung and Tainan in the south.
02:03NVIDIA has asked the central government
02:27to provide a list of suitable locations by October 24th.
02:31Until then, the ship may have to remain in orbit.
