A keen thrifter has shared how she was challenged with decorating her sibling's apartment in vintage items, creating a stunning space by visiting seven different thrift stores and spending just $350. Kristin Spence's series of videos with her sister, Brittney, soon went viral, as the pair shared how the transformed Brittney’s new and empty Florida space and bagged even large items of furniture at discount prices. 36-year-old Kristin, from Tampa, Florida, became interested in thrifting from a very young age, with the hobby really ramping up when she thrifted everything in her home when she moved to college. As Brittney, 33, is a few years younger, she did not get to experience this newfound passion with Kristin, as she was still in high school when her "best friend" sibling was building out her home. Over the next decade or so, Kristin's passion for all things vintage only grew, with the 36-year-old sharing her journey on social media. And so, when Brittney decided she did not feel comfortable in her apartment, she knew exactly where to turn. Brittney decided her old space felt boring and in no way personalized, and so she and her husband decided to move into a new space and have Kristin help with designing the abode. With Kristin being a busy working mom-of-two, the siblings decided to set aside three weekends where they would go thrifting for a couple of hours at a time. Having settled on a design that Brittney was fond of, Kristin then shared videos of the siblings' thrifting journey on her popular social media accounts. Across seven thrift stores they added smaller, personal touches – like pillows, throw blankets, art, glassware, books, lamps. And there were bigger bargains, too: a couch for $60, for example, and an ottoman and vintage piece of art for just $15 each. When Kristin eventually finished the challenge, spending just $350 in the process, she shared a stunning reveal video from March 20 on social media, where the finished design received an outpouring o

00:00Two sisters, seven thrift stores, three weekends, and just $350 to transform this empty apartment
00:09into a home. Kristen has thrifted since college and loves sharing her vintage finds online. So
00:15when her younger sister Brittany moved into a new place, it didn't feel like a home. She set
00:20Kristen a challenge. Help her decorate the entire apartment with secondhand items only. But with a
00:26budget of just $350, could they really pull it off? I feel so confident that Kristen would be able to
00:32create a space that I want. There's no one else that I trust for. I think she's going to love it,
00:38honestly. I think that she's going to enjoy the process of finding and sourcing these items for
00:46her own home that she gets to enjoy. So join me today as we go thrifting to try and find some fun
00:51things to furnish her apartment with. Walking to the thrift store, the first thing we noticed was this
00:55vintage maple wood bookcase. Once we claimed that as ours, I moved along to the trinkets. In my mind,
01:00I'm searching for anything that will add vintage warmth to her space. Wooden pieces, large beautifully
01:05sculpted vases, hand-painted glassware, and most importantly, art. With the little touches in the
01:10bag, they moved on to the next store in search of some bigger wins. This is Restore, and the main thing
01:16we're looking for is an entertainment center. This thrift store was so large, and everything
01:21unfortunately was overpriced. So we left with zero things in our hands and ready for the next thrift
01:26store. Still feeling hopeful, we move on to my favorite thrift store, Life Path Thrift, where we
01:29not only found a couch for her, but also an entertainment center for $10 because the whole
01:35store was 50% off. We're leaving with a few books, some extra trinkets, and that is the end of our lovely
01:41thrift day. At the end of the first weekend, they had spent $210, and the apartment was starting to take
01:47shape. I've never seen her more carefree, actually. I had so much fun going thrifting and just styling
01:57my new home. My favorite item that we thrifted was this candle stuffer. It's so cute, so precious.
02:03With half the budget already spent, they now needed to get creative. They started weekend two by upcycling
02:10items they found to match the aesthetic before hitting the thrift stores again to find some finishing
02:15touches. We know that we want a mirror and maybe some baskets, candles, and even books.
02:21By the end of weekend two, the anchors were in seating, storage, and light. So the final run would
02:27be all about layering it to feel lived in. Today, we're taking our last and final trip to the thrift
02:32store, and I'm exceptionally excited because it's 50% store ride at my favorite thrift store, Red White and
02:36Blue. We found this ottoman, this mirror, and these little wooden bowls. I was honestly shocked when my
02:40sister turned the corner and found this gorgeous piece of art for $15. My little secret to thrifting
02:46is more frequent trips, spending less amount of time in the thrift. Now, before we get to styling,
02:50I just want to remind you, here's her space completely empty. We're not painting any walls. We're not
02:54making any structural changes. We're keeping it very simple and sustainable. But after three hectic
02:59weekends, had they pulled it off and achieved Britney's dream home for just $350? The answer was a
03:07resounding yes. One apartment fully styled for less than a monthly grocery shop. I was very happy. I was very pleased
03:14with the final design and how the space turned out. For Britney, the project has transformed how she
03:21interacts with the place she calls home. It just feels amazing to be in a space every day where I love and I can
03:29just like bask in it. I love it so much.
