A thrifty bride-to-be has spent months hunting for the perfect second-hand items as she plans to thrift her entire wedding. Tarryn Pitt, 25, from Prineville, Oregon, has been thrifting since a young age – so much so the hobby has been "woven into the fabric of her life," she said. And so, ahead of her big day, in May 2025, Tarryn decided to use her passion for finding objects with ties to the past as a way of expressing herself. Over several months, Tarryn has gathered hundreds of items of vintage dishwater and glassware, as well as chairs that will be used for a makeshift photobooth and her bridal party table. She’s also thrifted sofas that will create a seating area, photo frames, a cake stand, a cake topper, hangers for bridesmaid dresses, bottles for flowers, and dessert plates. Tarryn said she has a series of thrift stores she's been visiting regularly, at least once or twice a week, slowly adding to her collection. In February, a few months before Tarryn and fiancé Holt Porifly's big day, she was still on the hunt for goblets, lace tablecloths and lace doilies.

00:00This bride found a unique way to stay on budget for her dream wedding.
00:08I've been thrifting for as long as I can remember.
00:10Like when I was younger, before it was cool.
00:13But thrifting is more than a hobby for Taryn.
00:16It's a way of life.
00:18We moved into our house, I think, almost three years now.
00:21And I've thrifted almost all of our decor.
00:25And I shop at thrift stores for my clothing as well.
00:28It's kind of just been a part of me.
00:30So when it came to planning her big day,
00:32she decided to incorporate her passion for finding treasures.
00:36I started with like Pinterest.
00:38Like I made some Pinterest boards.
00:39Her plan?
00:40To find as many vintage items as possible
00:43to create a unique and personal wedding.
00:46Our thrift stores here, where I'm at,
00:48there's a lot of like cutlery, plates, cups, stuff like that.
00:52So I was like, we can try to do that.
00:53Well, we're inviting like over 300 people.
00:56Over several months, Taryn collected hundreds
00:59of vintage dishware and glassware items.
01:01I have over 300 like dinner plates.
01:05And then I also have, I don't know exactly how many,
01:08but over 100 like little dessert plates
01:11that we're going to use as well.
01:12She also found furniture.
01:14I have like a little seating area for cocktail hour.
01:17Photo frames, a cake stand, and much more.
01:20We have like a couple bookshelves,
01:23a couple things for our houses,
01:24like some nice handmade quilts, picture frames.
01:28There's a lot.
01:33I've printed out pictures of what I want,
01:36like the tables to look like,
01:37like the welcome table, stuff like that
01:39for the family, and that is helping us.
01:42I'll be very hands-on with it,
01:44and I'm really excited to see it all come together.
01:47Taryn and fiancee Holt will be tying the knot
01:51at a beautiful outdoor venue.
01:54Everyone will walk in,
01:55and so we have a bunch of round tables.
01:58Each table is going to have thrifted lace tablecloths,
02:02lace doilies.
02:03It'll be all of our antique plates, cups, candlesticks,
02:08and I just, I'm so excited to see it come together.
02:11Yeah, it's going to be great to see my vision
02:13actually come to life,
02:14because I've never, I personally have never been
02:17to a wedding like this,
02:18so I'm just really excited to see it.
02:21I hope I've planned everything well,
02:22but I think it'll turn out really great.
02:24By giving items a second life,
02:27Taryn created a wedding that was beautiful,
02:30personal, and better for the planet.
02:33I hope it gives people that message
02:34because it's, you can get just as good
02:37or even better things at a thrift store
02:38that you can off like Amazon or Wayfair
02:40or anything like that.
02:41I just feel like it's nice to have something old
02:45that's better quality
02:46and you can just give it another life.
02:47I just feel like that's really important.
