00:00Why are we in a seaplane, Andrew?
00:19This season, we are soaring to new heights.
00:22Are you taking me for a fancy lunch?
00:24No, Neil, we're feasting our eyes on my real estate empire.
00:30Where the skies are no limit in the quest for victory.
00:34Our mission to save desperate homeowners from housing heartbreak.
00:39Courtney has referred to it, love it, list it, or break up, so no pressure.
00:43It will take daring plays.
00:46Oh, Neil!
00:46Is Team Lovett going to win?
00:48Outlook good.
00:49I'm having a Team Lovett tattoo.
00:51I am that confident.
00:53Cunning tactics.
00:55You gave Caroline and Courtney a bribe.
00:57To say that I'm a huge fan, Andrew, is a huge understatement.
01:01Bringing in the big guns.
01:03Anyone for a snag on the barbie?
01:05What you doing here?
01:06And the occasional leap of faith.
01:10I didn't think God was going to get Neil Whittaker.
01:12We face some of our toughest houses.
01:15There's your indoor-outdoor flow above Neil's head.
01:18And our most unshakable homeowners.
01:21Sold!
01:22No, no, no, no, no.
01:24I'm not going anywhere.
01:26But we're not just fixing problems.
01:28I feel frustrated about this house.
01:31We're fixing lives.
01:33The triple zero of property and renovation have arrived.
01:38I'm dragging you into this amazing living space.
01:42Wow.
01:43Wow, this is incredible.
01:45It's like everything that I asked for.
01:48Wow, this can't be the same joint.
01:50Amazing.
01:53Let the best team win.
01:55Love it or list it.
01:56It's cleared for take-off.
01:58Oh, oh, oh.
01:58Here we go.
01:59Here we go.
01:59How beautiful it is to be in Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast in sunny Queensland.
02:17The sun is shining, the ocean breezes are lifting through people's hair.
02:21In your case, it would be just your eyebrows, of course.
02:24Well, Andrew, I cannot see any mermaids.
02:28Very funny.
02:29I'll happen to tell you, Mermaid Beach is one of the best areas in the whole of Queensland.
02:33Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, because you live here.
02:35Well, yes, there is that.
02:37I mean, it was always quite a nice area, but the values have rocketed since I moved in.
02:40I mean, look at it.
02:44A world-class beach just south of another world-class beach at Surfer's Paradise.
02:51It's a bit quieter here than surfers.
02:54Less tourists, more locals and a great range of properties.
02:58Upscale beachfront mansions can go for upwards of $20 million.
03:03And then there's the old beach shacks, not cheap, but still here.
03:09That's what I love about it.
03:10Did you manage to have a look at those planes that I've downloaded for that?
03:13And that's what sunseekers Tony and Vanessa did too.
03:18Mermaid's like a village.
03:19It is.
03:19You walk down the street and you run into people you know.
03:23We love going out on the boat, walking on the beach together.
03:27Anything outdoors.
03:29How's the serenity?
03:30How's the serenity?
03:31The serenity of it all.
03:33Like me, the couple are migrants.
03:35Me from Bristol in England.
03:37They are from Melbourne.
03:39We actually met at a football game.
03:43Tony walked into the room and he smiled and the room lit up.
03:49My team lost that night.
03:51But I won.
03:53You did.
03:56Vanessa's next big win was visiting the Goldie on holiday 11 years ago.
04:01And convincing Tony they needed a holiday house here.
04:06We came for three days.
04:07We saw 27 houses.
04:09This was the only one for sale in Mermaid Beach.
04:12And this is actually the only one we agreed upon.
04:14It was pretty much a fibro shack.
04:17But it worked fine as a holiday home and rental.
04:20We used to come up here and just enjoy ourselves, relax, restaurants, friends, beach.
04:26Then, three years ago, Tony and Vanessa decided to move here permanently.
04:32Who could blame them?
04:33I wanted to move here, sit out the back, have a beer, and walked in and realised it was just in need of a lot of work.
04:41Still had the 1980s kitchen.
04:44The property was a debacle.
04:46They made do for a while, splash some paint about, put in a pool out back, and tried to ignore the shortcomings of a 60-year-old beach shack.
04:55They had the Mermaid Beach lifestyle, but the dream just wasn't complete for Vanessa.
05:01I'm just happy every day that we live here.
05:04Just not happy here, darling.
05:08Here.
05:08Here.
05:09Here.
05:10The biggest problem with this home is definitely the floor plan.
05:16There's a lot of wasted space.
05:19The bathroom, for instance, is enormous.
05:22There's not enough storage.
05:25And this home is so not functional in terms of entertaining that I'm just not enthused about having anyone over, really.
05:32I've seen a lot of floor plans in my life, and this one's probably one of the worst.
05:36But Tony's not ready to give up on their beach shack.
05:41Would you like a rubber ducky?
05:43Oh, good, I'm going to be out on fire.
05:44OK, cheers to you then.
05:46Cheers.
05:46Yeah.
05:47He thinks, with a bit of work, this can be their home long into the future.
05:52We can move stuff.
05:54I can see Vanessa and I growing old together in this house.
05:57I don't...
05:58I love it.
05:59It's single level.
06:00It's close to the beach.
06:02We walk everywhere.
06:02Everything's here, restaurants, our work, my boat.
06:08Everything is within 20 minutes.
06:11When I think about living somewhere else, I don't think about living somewhere else.
06:17I'm not going anywhere.
06:18I love it here.
06:20But Vanessa's ready to trade a beach shack for beach chic.
06:24Moving to a new home, one that we both absolutely love, would so improve our quality of life.
06:32It would just be an amazing feeling to just open the front door every day and just love where you live.
06:38At the moment, I don't love where we live.
06:42It might be said that I have the advantage on this one.
06:50I mean, I literally know every single property within a 10-kilometre radius of here.
06:55Yeah, including your own.
06:57Well, all I can say is that one of your neighbours obviously has trouble in paradise.
07:02But I think I've heard Mrs. Winter say much the same.
07:05Excuse me, witters.
07:07There's no trouble in our paradise.
07:08Hey, this is a nice street.
07:17Yeah, yeah.
07:18And really close to the ocean.
07:20Oh, not that close.
07:22Yeah, very close.
07:23I can hear it, Andrew.
07:25Stop it.
07:25I know where you're going with this.
07:28Hello there.
07:29G'day, g'day.
07:30Great to meet you both.
07:31Hello.
07:31Hi, how are you going?
07:32Lovely to meet you both.
07:33And Tony, welcome to Team Love It.
07:35What a pleasure.
07:36Well, hang on a minute.
07:37Hello, neighbours.
07:39Lovely to meet you both.
07:40I literally live a few hundred metres down the street.
07:43Well, not to say that, like, we bought here to stalk you in Mermaid Beach.
07:47To say that I'm a huge fan, Andrew, is a huge understatement.
07:51Vanessa, you hold on to that T-shirt because Tony can use it to polish the taps in the new bathroom.
07:57Really?
07:58Okay, well, you two go inside.
08:00You've got a lot of work to do.
08:00Vanessa, come and join me.
08:01Just tell me what price you did pay.
08:03This property sits on a narrow block.
08:07There is a carport at the front.
08:09The entry leads to a combined living dining space.
08:13There is a kitchen opposite the second bedroom.
08:16A laundry, main bedroom with walk-in, toilet, study nook and bathroom at the back.
08:22I mean, the word that springs to mind when I walk in here is cute.
08:31Yeah.
08:31It's got cute appeal, but I can see there's a lot of wasted space.
08:35Yeah, really.
08:36I mean, we're standing in wasted space.
08:37The hallway's actually huge.
08:39And what have we got over here?
08:40Oh, that's a spare bedroom.
08:41Okay.
08:42Oh, look, it's small, but it's not too bad.
08:46Yeah.
08:47Okay, where next?
08:48Down this tight little hallway.
08:51It's a pretty good kitchen.
08:53Yeah.
08:53Compact, but not bad.
08:55Yeah.
08:56And then...
08:57Oh, laundry.
08:58Yeah.
08:58Oh, okay, and the overflow from the kitchen.
09:00Yeah, yeah, what we couldn't fit out there.
09:02Okay, so that's a...
09:04You've got, like, a kitchen and a half.
09:05Yes, correct.
09:07Come on in, Andrew.
09:08This will be the shortest tour you've ever had.
09:10Oh, yes, yes, it's definitely beat, Shaq, isn't it?
09:14Mm-hmm.
09:15Am I right in thinking I can see the back of the house there?
09:19That's exactly what you're looking at.
09:21And can you see that I have sticks holding up my windows?
09:24I do, yes, I can.
09:26Right, so if you're entertaining...
09:29This doesn't really happen.
09:31You have to go all the way through the rest of the house to get out the back.
09:35That's right.
09:36Well, I love entertaining, but it's just impossible here.
09:39It's just...
09:40It's so hard.
09:42And we've got the bathroom.
09:44Bathroom that goes round a corner.
09:46Yeah.
09:46L-shaped bathroom.
09:47Yeah, wasted space again.
09:48Very wasted space.
09:50And that bath, look at it.
09:52I have not seen one of those in decades.
09:54Yes, it's a 1980s classic.
09:57And then the master.
09:59Look, I often use the phrase compact...
10:02Yeah.
10:03Yeah.
10:03..because I think it sounds kinder.
10:05I can roll with that.
10:06But it's small.
10:08So this is the only toilet?
10:10Yes.
10:11And that's your main bedroom?
10:12Yes, it is.
10:13You know what?
10:14I bet when...
10:15Not listening, is he?
10:16When Neil walked through here, he described this as compact.
10:20A very, very polite way of saying it's very small.
10:22Yes, that's the one.
10:25And the backyard.
10:25Oh, Tony, you have saved the best for last.
10:29Well, I had to give you something nice.
10:32Wow.
10:33Hello.
10:34Hello.
10:35Andrew, look at that.
10:37You, Andrew Winter, are in trouble.
10:40That, to me, is resale.
10:42Do I look remotely worried?
10:44Actually, before we talk about anything,
10:46did you use the C word to describe this house?
10:49I used two.
10:50Oh, OK, then.
10:51Compact and cute.
10:52I knew you'd use a word for small and pokey.
10:56Come on, let's go back inside.
10:57OK.
10:57After you.
10:58Right.
10:58It's sensational.
11:00Yeah, it's just perfect for staging.
11:03As my local patch,
11:06I know Mermaid Beach has had a very good few years in the sun
11:09as far as prices go.
11:12Tony and Vanessa's $500,000 purchase in 2014
11:16is now worth more than three times that at $1.7 million.
11:21So I'm betting my budget is going to be quite healthy.
11:26Though I suppose Neil might get a fistful of cash, too.
11:30Tony and Vanessa, as beat shacks go,
11:33this is a really good one.
11:34You really have made the very best
11:37of the footprint that you have in this house.
11:40I mean, seriously, if I had a trophy here to award,
11:42I'd give it to you guys for the best presented house
11:47on Love It All List.
11:48Oh, you'd think that would get you a win.
11:50Oh, my.
11:51Don't fall for it.
11:52I mean it.
11:53He says that to everyone.
11:53I think it's a really cute...
11:55There we go.
11:56I'll use that word again.
11:57Really cute little house.
11:58I love small.
12:00The house is small.
12:01I love it.
12:02I don't want,
12:04with all due respect to our friends and family,
12:06I don't want them all coming here to stay on holidays.
12:09They might be watching this.
12:11They may be.
12:11I'm happy to go out for dinner with them
12:13and then they can go back to their hotel
12:15and I'll come home to my little bedroom.
12:18Tony, you are a brave man.
12:20I know.
12:21I've taken a risk.
12:22All right, well, thank you.
12:23You've cleared all that up for me.
12:25I'm being honest.
12:26So what's the renovation budget
12:27and what are the priorities?
12:30The renovation budget for you, Neil,
12:32is 400 grand.
12:33400 grand.
12:36I'll just let that sink in.
12:38Don't need any priorities.
12:39It's a lot.
12:39Gather myself.
12:40I was going to say,
12:41what are the priorities?
12:42But I'm guessing everything.
12:43Everything.
12:44Yep.
12:44Whatever you can do with that,
12:46you go crazy.
12:48I'm a happy man.
12:49Well, I bet you are.
12:52I've just been dealt the best hand.
12:55With 400 grand,
12:56I can fix everything ailing this house.
13:00And I mean everything.
13:01Kitchen, layout,
13:03outlook and privacy.
13:05Tony will keep his cute,
13:07but Vanessa will get her space
13:09with a complete redesign
13:11from the ground up.
13:13Now I'm going to ask Vanessa,
13:16why do you want to leave?
13:17I do not have any emotional attachment
13:20to this house at all.
13:21It's styled well,
13:22but it goes way beyond that.
13:24I've got sticks holding up the windows.
13:26We have no insulation in the walls or the ceiling.
13:30It's a hot box in summer
13:32and it's freezing cold in winter.
13:34Tell me, budget for the new house
13:36and what your priorities are with that?
13:40So ideally single level,
13:41ideally with a pool
13:43and on the water
13:45if budget allows.
13:46OK, you don't need
13:47more than three bedrooms necessarily.
13:49No, we don't.
13:49Another bathroom would be great.
13:51Yeah.
13:52And a garage for our cars.
13:54You've got two areas
13:55attached to Mermaid Beach
13:56at a canal estate area.
13:58Yes.
13:58So that's a possibility.
14:00And I'm presuming
14:01Mermaid Waters,
14:02Birdie Waters,
14:03but are we able to go south
14:04towards Palm Beach
14:05and Birdie?
14:06Yes, for sure.
14:07And north to Broad Beach?
14:09Yes, absolutely.
14:10Where all the expensive houses are.
14:11OK, so on that note,
14:13bear in mind the renovation budget.
14:16Come on, give me your budget.
14:17$3 million.
14:19Yeah, there you go.
14:21Mmm, it's going to be good.
14:23I have so got this.
14:25I know this area
14:26like my wife's spending patterns.
14:28I can get them
14:29what they want with $3 million.
14:31A three-bed home,
14:33with a pool,
14:34second bathroom,
14:35entertainer's area
14:36and windows that don't need sticks.
14:39I might even get them
14:40a bit closer to the water.
14:45Meanwhile,
14:45with $400,000 in my pocket,
14:47I can probably bring
14:48the water here.
14:49Yeah, yeah.
14:49Yeah.
14:56I really do think
14:57that he's the right person
14:58for the job.
14:59There's always room to move.
15:02So, wriggle room
15:03for the right property
15:04is what you're saying?
15:05Yes, yes.
15:06Wriggle room
15:06for the right property.
15:07OK, well,
15:08I've heard that now.
15:09It's on.
15:10It's on.
15:11Good luck.
15:20Ex-Melburnians,
15:21Tony and Vanessa,
15:22are living the sea change dream
15:24in Mermaid Beach.
15:25When it comes to their
15:27beach shack home,
15:28Tony is digging in
15:29for the long run.
15:30I love you,
15:31but I'm not going anywhere.
15:33But Vanessa
15:34is all for jumping ship.
15:36Oh, look,
15:36there's one for sale.
15:40But I've got the budget
15:42to keep them
15:42just where they are,
15:44living in a brand new house
15:46without needing to move.
15:48We're starting over
15:49with this cute beach property,
15:51keeping what Tony loves
15:53about its intimacy
15:54while adding everything
15:56Vanessa is missing.
15:59There's a lot
16:00that needs doing
16:00in this house.
16:01We've got to start
16:02at one end,
16:03go to the other end
16:04and change
16:05absolutely everything.
16:07Awesome.
16:07Yep.
16:07Huh.
16:08That sounds good.
16:09Wow.
16:09Which means
16:10that we are standing
16:12in what's going
16:14to be the main bedroom.
16:15I'm literally flipping
16:16the house
16:17from front to back.
16:18So this becomes
16:19the sleeping end
16:20of the house.
16:21Yes.
16:22Wow.
16:23Awesome.
16:26I'm repurposing
16:27the lounge dining
16:28and kitchen area
16:29into a main bedroom
16:31and ensuite.
16:32Plenty of wardrobe space.
16:35There's a new laundry
16:36and a bigger guest room
16:38for when those
16:38annoying relatives
16:40have to sleep over.
16:42You know,
16:43I'm very aware
16:43that you don't want guests.
16:46You gave it small.
16:47Given that you're stuck
16:49with one guest's bedroom,
16:50you may as well
16:51make it a good one.
16:52Yeah.
16:52Okay?
16:53That's really clever.
16:54You've really,
16:55obviously,
16:56taken that wasted space
16:58and turned it
16:58into real space.
17:00Now,
17:00there's an awful lot
17:01of stuff happening
17:02down that end
17:02of the house as well.
17:03So should we move
17:04down there?
17:04Okay.
17:05Let's.
17:10This becomes
17:11the living end
17:13of the house,
17:14opening out
17:15onto the garden
17:16and the pool.
17:18Awesome.
17:18That's great.
17:20I love it.
17:20Overlooking the pool.
17:22Yeah.
17:22The way it should be.
17:23Yeah.
17:23The kitchen is going
17:24to go here
17:26on this side
17:27of the house.
17:28Okay.
17:28The old bathroom
17:32will make way
17:32for a kitchen
17:33with built-in
17:34bonkette seating
17:35and new appliances.
17:37Doors will open
17:38from the kitchen
17:39and lounge,
17:40creating light
17:41and easy access
17:42into the garden.
17:43And there will be
17:44a bar and servery
17:45perfect for indoor-outdoor
17:48entertaining.
17:49The old walk-in robe
17:50will become
17:51the main bathroom.
17:52And opposite,
17:53I've even managed
17:54to keep a small
17:55study nook.
17:56Spot on.
17:59I'm excited about it.
18:01As am I.
18:02They are some
18:03really great ideas.
18:04I can't wait
18:05to see it in the flesh.
18:07I just can't
18:08visualise it,
18:09that's all.
18:10That's okay.
18:10Just stick with me
18:12and you'll see
18:12it all unfold.
18:19I don't know
18:21if Neil's
18:22new floor plan
18:23will really
18:25give us
18:25a lot more space.
18:27And I reiterate,
18:29I don't want
18:30more space.
18:35Three million
18:36is a lot of money,
18:38but it won't get you
18:39everything in these parts.
18:41Canal side
18:42with a dock
18:42for Tony's boat
18:43is out of the question.
18:45I need another million
18:46or so for that.
18:47But I can get them
18:48somewhere close.
18:50He'll just have to
18:51keep his boat
18:52in the marina.
18:52Hey, listen,
18:54you two,
18:54we're heading out
18:55to the burbs.
18:56Yeah, I think
18:56I can see cows.
18:59Do you think
19:00I'll take you
19:00that far out?
19:01Come on.
19:02I guess we'll find out
19:04when we finally
19:05get there.
19:06No cows,
19:07just canals.
19:08We're heading
19:09to Burley Waters,
19:1015 minutes
19:11from their place.
19:12This property
19:13sits right
19:14in our
19:15Goldilocks zone,
19:16not too big
19:17and not too small.
19:20Poor Vanessa
19:20has had a bingle
19:22and hurt her foot,
19:23but that's
19:24no deterrent
19:25for her.
19:26She's true
19:27team-listed.
19:28What do you think?
19:29Well,
19:31first impressions
19:32are good
19:32because I love
19:33having lawn.
19:34You know,
19:35you almost think
19:35you're in the burbs here.
19:37This house
19:37to the beach,
19:39800 metres.
19:41Oh, really?
19:41Yes, really.
19:43There,
19:43turn right,
19:43beach.
19:44Oh, wow.
19:45Come on,
19:45hop along.
19:45This is far
19:51from a beach shack.
19:53On a
19:53400 square metre
19:54block,
19:55we have
19:56a modern
19:56open-plan
19:57kitchen,
19:58living,
19:58dining space,
19:59three bedrooms,
20:01the main with
20:02walk-in robe
20:02and en suite,
20:04and the old garage
20:05has been converted
20:06into a multi-purpose
20:07room,
20:08which could be
20:08an extra guest bedroom
20:10or an office
20:11for Tony.
20:13There's a surprise.
20:15You're in trouble,
20:17TJ.
20:18Wow.
20:18It's not a bad view,
20:19is it?
20:20This is what I would
20:21call wide-water views.
20:23Oh, wow.
20:24You're annoying me,
20:25Andrew.
20:25Sorry, mate.
20:28Go on,
20:28go and have a wander.
20:30I'll call the
20:30agent get a contact.
20:35It's a nice kitchen.
20:37Good start.
20:38It's very nice.
20:39Done a nice job.
20:39Oh, separate laundry.
20:42Separate laundry,
20:43toilet,
20:44bathroom.
20:45That's luxury.
20:46There are three rooms
20:47tucked away
20:48where Vanessa
20:49could hide her visitors.
20:51Oh, yeah,
20:52decent-sized bedroom.
20:54That lovely view
20:55of the front lawn.
20:57Oh, yeah.
20:58Another one.
20:58This is more an office.
20:59Yeah, sure is.
21:00That'll work.
21:01Oh, and this is
21:02the converted space.
21:03Pretty big, isn't it?
21:04Yeah, it's good.
21:06It's storage.
21:07Clever.
21:07And right down
21:09the other end
21:09of the house,
21:10the main bedroom
21:11with an outlook
21:12worth waking up to.
21:15Oh, look at that view.
21:16Yeah, the view's cracking.
21:17Yeah, it's beautiful.
21:19Oh, wow.
21:20Oh, walk-in road.
21:22Oh, and ensuite.
21:23Oh, it's a really good size.
21:26It's light.
21:27Yeah, it's nice.
21:27It's an area, isn't it?
21:34Yeah, yeah, yeah.
21:37What do you think?
21:40It's a pearl, Andrew,
21:41because it's not a too big house.
21:45Yeah, it's a good size.
21:46Yeah, it's a really good size.
21:48And I can still have some friends
21:51and family stay
21:52without someone being annoyed.
21:55One thing that we did notice, though,
21:57is that no-one's got a jetty.
21:59I think that's probably a cancel thing
22:01because it's a lake.
22:02You just need to get a kayak
22:03or something.
22:04You have an answer for everything,
22:05do you know it?
22:06Oh, I'm a salesman, remember?
22:08Yes.
22:08You ready to play
22:09guess the price game?
22:11I reckon $2.8
22:15to $2.850.
22:17How about you, Vanessa?
22:18I would have pinned
22:20at around $2.7.
22:22OK, you're both wrong.
22:23Oh, here we go.
22:24It's $2.6 plus.
22:26Ah, OK.
22:27You're really annoying me now.
22:28There's a bit of pocket change there.
22:33Shh.
22:38I don't really see the point
22:40of being on the water
22:41if I can't have my boat there.
22:44It was nice
22:45and the price point is attractive
22:47but it's still not nudging me
22:49over the line yet.
22:50I rarely get this sort of budget
22:59to play with
23:00so it's exciting
23:01to be able to implement
23:02big visions.
23:04When I'm finished
23:05this place will match
23:07the Mermaid Beach lifestyle
23:08Andrew keeps banging on about.
23:11There was one thing
23:12I worried about
23:13asbestos.
23:15These fibro shacks
23:16can be full of it
23:17but you don't know
23:19until you commit
23:20to the demolition.
23:22We've found some
23:23but there may be more.
23:29Hi, mate.
23:30How are we?
23:31Good.
23:31Well, you knew about
23:32the internal asbestos
23:33so we've removed
23:34the walls and ceilings
23:36and then we've since found
23:37asbestos on the external walls
23:40that have been platted over.
23:41So the second lot of asbestos.
23:43Unfortunately, yes.
23:45It's not just
23:46the removal costs.
23:47It's having to replace
23:49the materials
23:50that adds to the expense.
23:52Just as well
23:53we have a good budget.
23:55What's happened?
23:57Unfortunate car accident.
23:59So, she's a bit sore.
24:01Oh, Vanessa.
24:02I'm so, so sorry
24:03to hear that.
24:05Thank God you're okay.
24:06Absolutely.
24:07While we're on bad news
24:08I do have some more
24:10to break to you.
24:12They found more asbestos.
24:13Of course they did.
24:15I had a word with Matt
24:16and he reckons
24:18it's going to cost
24:19about 25k.
24:20Another 25k.
24:23And here I was thinking
24:24my budget was enough.
24:26Look,
24:26it's just one of those things
24:28that we have to deal with.
24:29We can't go ahead
24:30unless we deal with it.
24:32Yeah.
24:33Yeah.
24:33And keep our fingers
24:34very, very tightly crossed
24:35that there's nothing else.
24:37Yeah, they're crossed
24:38and the tyres.
24:39Okay.
24:39Okay, not a great start.
24:41And to add to complications,
24:43Vanessa can't get safety boots on
24:45so she can't, by law,
24:47set foot on a construction site.
24:49Okay.
24:50But where there's a will...
24:51Your new main bedroom.
24:53Wow.
24:54Are you standing
24:55in our old living room now?
24:57Yeah, the old living room.
24:58Yeah, wow.
25:00I'm walking through
25:00the wardrobe now.
25:02Here's your wardrobe.
25:04And look,
25:05I'm in your ensuite.
25:07Fancy.
25:08And Tony, look,
25:09heading into the new kitchen.
25:11Awesome.
25:12The kitchen
25:12where that funny old
25:14L-shaped bathroom used to be.
25:16It's a lot bigger
25:17than I thought it would be.
25:19It's going to be wide.
25:20It's great.
25:21It's plenty of room.
25:22I'm looking into
25:23your new living room, Vanessa.
25:25The new living room
25:25that has perfect connection
25:27with the outdoors.
25:29French doors
25:30will lead off the kitchen
25:31and in the living room
25:32there will be sliding stackers
25:34for perfect
25:35indoor-outdoor flow.
25:36That's a lot of light.
25:38It's amazing
25:39that you can turn
25:40such awkward spaces
25:42into functional
25:43kitchen,
25:45living
25:45and dining.
25:47It's awesome.
25:48I can see
25:49the...
25:50I...
25:51the finish line
25:51coming.
25:52On the way
25:53to being the house
25:54that you always
25:55wanted it to be.
25:55Exactly, yeah.
25:56100%.
25:57Yeah.
25:57100%.
25:57We've got that ball
25:58rolling, haven't we?
25:59Yeah, yeah.
26:00We're on the roll.
26:05I can definitely
26:06see Neil's vision
26:08and get a feel
26:09for how
26:10the new floor plan
26:11will work.
26:12I'm just so looking
26:13forward to see
26:14what Andrew
26:15shows us next.
26:16Yeah.
26:17OK, I'm giving up
26:25on absolute waterfront
26:27so we're going
26:28water adjacent
26:29still in Burley Waters.
26:31This suburb
26:31is close to home
26:32and the beach
26:34and all the social
26:35life Tony and Vanessa
26:36love.
26:37I'm feeling
26:38very positive
26:39about this particular
26:40property, Tony.
26:41Of course you are.
26:42I think we've found
26:43a bit of a sweet
26:43point here.
26:44You've been taking
26:45notes.
26:46As you will soon
26:46discover.
26:47Intrigued.
26:49This one addresses
26:51one of the key
26:52things Tony that I
26:53know bugs you.
26:54Yes.
26:55Guests.
26:56Yeah, I don't
26:57really want them.
26:57No.
26:58So I've got a
26:59separate house,
26:59have I?
27:00Nearly.
27:04Yeah, look at this.
27:06Mmm.
27:07Right.
27:08There's one thing
27:09I haven't ticked off
27:10here.
27:10What's that?
27:11It's not waterfront.
27:13Yep.
27:14Okay, alright,
27:14we took that better
27:15than I thought.
27:15Alright, fine.
27:16Okay, Tony,
27:17first impressions?
27:18Yeah, nice.
27:19Very bright.
27:20Yes, yes.
27:21I've got a secret
27:22to tell.
27:22I've seen this one
27:23online.
27:23And you thought
27:24what?
27:25It's a beautiful
27:25home.
27:26It is, it's
27:27really peaceful.
27:27Would you like to
27:28go through the
27:29arched door?
27:30Let's.
27:31Come on.
27:34Vanessa is
27:35bang on the
27:36money.
27:37There are four
27:37bedrooms,
27:38including guest
27:39and main bedroom
27:39suites,
27:40a family
27:41bathroom,
27:42the open-plan
27:43kitchen,
27:43dining,
27:44living is
27:44the heart
27:45of the
27:45home,
27:46opening onto
27:46a pristine
27:47pool and
27:48outdoor
27:49entertaining
27:49area,
27:50and all on
27:51a 750-square-meter
27:53landscaped block.
27:57Look at that.
27:58Oh, wow.
28:00After you.
28:03Oh, it's
28:03beautiful.
28:04Isn't it?
28:05Amazing.
28:05So bright.
28:07Pretty impressive,
28:08hey?
28:09Sure it is.
28:11Nice and new
28:11and shiny.
28:12Yeah, the
28:13engine.
28:14This is a house
28:15that yours can
28:15never be because
28:16of the size of
28:17the block.
28:17We're nearly
28:18double the land
28:19size.
28:19Still single
28:20level, absolutely
28:21as new.
28:23Brand spanking,
28:23isn't it?
28:24Yes.
28:24You can't wait
28:25to look around,
28:25can you?
28:26Can't wait.
28:26Why don't you
28:27start with the
28:27guest suite,
28:28which is behind
28:29you, and then
28:29I'll meet you
28:29outside in a
28:30minute.
28:32Enjoy.
28:32Take your
28:33time.
28:33No rush.
28:35Hiya.
28:36Nice.
28:38Yeah, this is
28:38the guest quarters,
28:40if you like.
28:40Nice.
28:41Yeah.
28:42Nice.
28:42Big.
28:43And it's got
28:44its own
28:45ensuite.
28:45Onsuit.
28:47It's been
28:48styled
28:48beautifully.
28:50Let's have a
28:51look at the
28:51kitchen.
28:52Kitchen's
28:53relatively
28:54small.
28:55Because you
28:55spend so much
28:56time in it.
28:58With pantry.
29:00The wall just
29:00to hide the
29:01mess.
29:01Yeah.
29:02There are two
29:03generous bedrooms
29:04in the middle
29:05of the house.
29:06A good size
29:07bedroom with
29:09robes.
29:11Another bedroom
29:12which could be
29:13an office or
29:15even dressing
29:16room.
29:18Bathroom.
29:20It's a nice
29:20bath, isn't it?
29:21They've gone all
29:21the gold cups,
29:22too.
29:22Yeah, I know.
29:23The best part
29:24from Tony's
29:25perspective is
29:26the main
29:26bedroom, a
29:27sanctuary from
29:28any unwelcome
29:29family who
29:30might be
29:31freeloading down
29:32the corridor.
29:33This is like
29:33it's got its own
29:34living quarters.
29:36The master
29:36bedroom.
29:37Wow.
29:38So nice.
29:39I think the size
29:40of it keeps
29:40going.
29:41It's huge.
29:42Beautiful
29:42and sweet.
29:44Good size.
29:45It's huge.
29:46Mm.
29:47Really good
29:48floor plan on
29:48this house.
29:50Mm.
29:50Although it's
29:53not waterfront,
29:54out here it
29:55almost feels like
29:56it is.
29:57Big barbie.
29:58Mm.
29:59You happy with
30:00that one?
30:00Yeah.
30:02Brand new.
30:04Yeah, it's
30:04lovely out here.
30:05I'd leave you here.
30:07Oh.
30:07As in out here.
30:08Ha, ha, ha, ha.
30:11Yeah, it's a good
30:11size.
30:12It is a good
30:12size.
30:13Literally been
30:14perusing all this
30:15life.
30:16It's like acreage
30:16here.
30:17Never believe it
30:17was only 750
30:18square metres.
30:20So what did
30:21you both think?
30:21I mean, you've
30:22seen it online.
30:22Did it live up to
30:23expectations?
30:24Better in flesh.
30:25Really?
30:26Mm-hmm.
30:26It's even better.
30:29The back living
30:30quarters is great.
30:31Yeah.
30:31Like, it's huge.
30:32It's another house
30:33by itself, just
30:34about.
30:34Yeah, I could
30:35hide from
30:35everyone there,
30:36say, you're
30:36right.
30:37It works for
30:38me.
30:38It works.
30:39The condition
30:40and spec is
30:42pristine.
30:43It's high.
30:43Yeah.
30:44It is.
30:44It's a great
30:45block of land
30:45with a beautiful
30:46house on it.
30:47Yeah, it's
30:47been spec'd
30:47beautifully.
30:48You know
30:48what the price
30:49is.
30:49I do.
30:50Yes.
30:50So it's
30:51$2.9 plus.
30:52Offer's over,
30:53yeah.
30:53Offer's over.
30:54So, yeah,
30:54I know we're
30:55pushing the
30:56budget, but
30:57at that price,
30:58there's nothing
30:59to spend on
30:59this.
31:00It's perfect.
31:00Yeah, no.
31:01Nothing to do.
31:01Nothing to do.
31:02Mm-hmm.
31:03Except get a
31:04beer out of that
31:04wine fridge over
31:05there.
31:05That's stunning,
31:06isn't it?
31:07Stunning.
31:08Yeah.
31:08Yeah, they're
31:09sort of everything.
31:10They have,
31:10haven't they?
31:13Tony is a hard
31:14nut to crack,
31:15but this home
31:16has shown him
31:17they can have
31:18the best of
31:18both worlds,
31:20visitors and
31:21privacy.
31:22He can't get
31:22that in his
31:23beach shack.
31:24My mission
31:29was never
31:30to make
31:30this 60s
31:31home bigger.
31:33I can
31:33understand
31:34Tony's love
31:35of intimacy
31:35in a place.
31:36It can make
31:37for better
31:37connection
31:38rather than
31:39being lost
31:40in big rooms
31:41which look
31:41good in
31:42magazines
31:42but can
31:43often feel
31:44a bit
31:44soulless.
31:50Tony and
31:51Vanessa are
31:51looking for
31:52that Goldilocks
31:53size.
31:54And I'm
31:54sure I can
31:55deliver.
32:04Oh, wow.
32:07Well, hello.
32:08Hello.
32:09Look at you,
32:10moon boot free.
32:11Oh, no, yay.
32:12It's fantastic.
32:13Yes.
32:13Fantastic to
32:13see you in
32:14the house this
32:15time.
32:15And the good
32:16news is that
32:17this house is
32:17now asbestos
32:18free.
32:19OK, that
32:19would have
32:20been a big
32:20job.
32:21All the hard
32:22stuff is kind
32:23of behind us
32:23now.
32:24And we're
32:25here in the
32:26main bedroom.
32:27It's looking
32:27good.
32:28It is looking
32:29really good.
32:30Yeah, real
32:31good.
32:31I think it's
32:32great that it's
32:33at the front of
32:33the house.
32:34That floor plan
32:35we had was
32:35hideous.
32:37And that's
32:38our en suite.
32:39That is your
32:39en suite.
32:40I'm really happy
32:40about the tiles.
32:41They look like
32:42pillows.
32:42Yeah.
32:43They pop.
32:43Yeah.
32:44They really do
32:44pop.
32:45And, excuse
32:46me, you
32:46haven't noticed
32:47the windows
32:48in front of
32:50us.
32:50No
32:50windows, no
32:51sticks.
32:51Do they
32:51work?
32:53It works
32:53perfectly.
32:54I have
32:54tested every
32:55single window
32:56in this
32:56house.
32:57Wow, no
32:58sticks.
32:59So, I mean,
33:00the house is
33:00now flipped
33:01completely.
33:02I mean, what
33:02was back is
33:03front and what
33:03was front is
33:04back.
33:04Makes total
33:05sense.
33:06So, why
33:06don't you
33:07both go for
33:07a walk, take
33:08in that new
33:09floor plan, get
33:09used to the
33:10new layout, and
33:11I'll see you
33:11in the kitchen.
33:12Well, I know
33:13where that is.
33:13It's the one
33:15with the
33:15skylights.
33:16Without making
33:17the second
33:18bedroom too
33:19inviting for
33:20visitors, I've
33:21enlarged it and
33:22added a second
33:23bathroom.
33:24Second bedroom.
33:25Bigger bedroom.
33:27And wardrobe
33:28space.
33:28Yes.
33:29Laundry.
33:30Great.
33:30Small enough
33:31for you, isn't
33:32it?
33:33Yeah, you're
33:33not going to
33:34use it.
33:35Oh, ah,
33:36second bathroom.
33:37Oh, wow.
33:38It's so much
33:39better than the
33:40last one.
33:40How big is
33:41that?
33:41The shaving
33:42cabinet's huge.
33:43Great storage.
33:45Steady.
33:46Excellent.
33:48Skylights.
33:49Oh, well, eh?
33:50I think we need
33:51a drum roll,
33:52don't we?
33:52We do.
33:53I think you
33:53deserve one.
33:55It feels good,
33:56doesn't it?
33:57It's light,
33:58it's bright,
33:59and it's much,
34:00much more
34:01spacious than
34:02what it was.
34:02It's not a
34:03beach shack
34:04anymore.
34:04No.
34:04No, it's
34:05not a shack
34:06anymore, it's
34:07a grown-up's
34:07house.
34:08Yeah, it is.
34:09And those
34:10skylights are
34:10amazing.
34:11It always has
34:11this transformative
34:12effect.
34:12And they've
34:13fallen perfectly
34:14in between the
34:14trusses and,
34:15yeah.
34:16Well, that's
34:16going to be
34:17your bar,
34:17and you've
34:17now got the
34:18new sliding
34:18doors.
34:19Yes.
34:20It's just
34:20all open,
34:21isn't it?
34:22To think that
34:23this was our
34:23bedroom,
34:24that was just
34:24the dumbest
34:25floor plan
34:26ever.
34:26Yeah, it was.
34:28Vanessa seems
34:29to be coming
34:30around,
34:31but I know
34:32Winty will be
34:33tempting her with
34:33all sorts of
34:35promises.
34:36I'll be surprised
34:37if he doesn't have
34:37them over for
34:38dinner at his
34:38place.
34:43Not on your
34:44life.
34:44I'm with Tony.
34:45Visitors aren't my
34:46thing either.
34:47Much prefer my
34:48own space, which my
34:49family are happy to
34:50give me, funnily
34:51enough.
34:52But let's not go
34:53there.
34:53It's time to take
34:54this challenge head
34:55on, one Mermaid
34:56Beach resident to
34:57another.
35:00Do you know when you
35:01search for a property
35:01you have a brief?
35:03Yeah.
35:03I've ignored most
35:05of that brief.
35:07Right?
35:08How's he doing?
35:08There's a few key
35:09elements I haven't,
35:10but this option,
35:12literally two minutes
35:13gentle stroll,
35:15that way.
35:16You're in trouble,
35:18T-Roc.
35:20The next property
35:22might be a bit of a
35:23wild card, but it's
35:24in the Mermaid
35:25community Tony and
35:26Vanessa already love,
35:28near all the cafes,
35:29parks and restaurants,
35:30and so close to the
35:32surf, you can
35:33virtually taste the
35:34salt.
35:36Beach right there.
35:38This is what we're
35:39looking at.
35:40Oh, wow.
35:41We've watched these
35:42being built.
35:42Yeah.
35:43Okay, well, now
35:44you're going inside.
35:45Come on, you two.
35:45Wow.
35:48Not quite the
35:49single-level property
35:50they imagined, but
35:52this four-level beauty
35:54has a ground-floor
35:55living room, leading
35:57to an alfresco area
35:58with pool, a second
36:00living space and
36:01immaculate kitchen
36:02dining, takes up the
36:03whole second floor.
36:05Four bedrooms,
36:05including a sumptuous
36:07main bedroom with
36:08en suite, and the
36:09top floor even has
36:10its own roof terrace.
36:12Come on in.
36:14Look at that smile.
36:16All right, I do
36:18need some feedback
36:18from you two.
36:20Initial thoughts?
36:21Lost for words.
36:23It makes such a
36:24statement as soon as
36:25you walk in the front
36:26door.
36:26Wow.
36:27It's really wow.
36:28Smallish.
36:29Yeah, yeah.
36:31But I haven't seen
36:32everything yet.
36:33So I want you to
36:34explore.
36:35Be open to it, Tony.
36:36And then, at the end,
36:38wait for it, meet me on
36:40what could be your roof
36:42terrace.
36:43Oh, stop it.
36:44So explore, enjoy, and I'll
36:48meet you up on the top.
36:49Awesome.
36:50Okay.
36:52Nice.
36:53Yeah, it's nice.
36:54It's so pretty.
36:56The pool's good.
36:58And the next level is, well,
37:00next level.
37:01Wow.
37:03Beautiful.
37:05Nice.
37:06Oh.
37:08Yeah, wow.
37:08That's, she's big, isn't it?
37:11It really is quite
37:12spacious.
37:13And a butler's pantry.
37:15Hmm.
37:15Of course.
37:16Can you give me one of
37:17those?
37:18Nope.
37:18Hmm.
37:20Induction.
37:21I can see myself cooking
37:22here.
37:23Induction.
37:24Da-da-da.
37:26Multi-floor living has the
37:27advantage of privacy between
37:29floors.
37:31Oh, lovely.
37:32Walking road.
37:32Walking road.
37:33Oh, balcony.
37:36An ensuite.
37:38Very nice.
37:39Oh, it's a good size.
37:40Hmm.
37:41When one strays from the
37:43brief, wonders can happen.
37:45By sacrificing single-level
37:47living, you get something you
37:49never knew you wanted.
37:51A view.
37:53Lovely.
37:54Welcome to your top level.
37:58You've got a bedroom there
37:59and a full bathroom.
38:01However, I don't think you'd
38:02let the guests have exclusive
38:03use of this.
38:04No.
38:05No, that's the problem.
38:05Absolutely not.
38:07Andrew, you've really outdone
38:08yourself.
38:09Could you?
38:10Yeah, pardon?
38:10I can actually see the ocean
38:12and the hills.
38:13So, yeah, good view.
38:14It's him saying that.
38:15I know, right?
38:16Is it the same?
38:16Where's my husband and what
38:17have you done with him?
38:18I know.
38:19I know.
38:19It seems small when you first
38:21walk in.
38:21This is what it's going to be
38:23like all the way up, but it
38:24gets bigger as it goes up.
38:25It's a lot of house.
38:27So, do you know what it's on
38:28the market for?
38:29I actually don't, but...
38:31It's got to be all of three
38:32and then some.
38:33You've blown my budget.
38:35I'm nudging three and a half.
38:37It's 2.75.
38:38Really?
38:40Wow.
38:41Should you be buying it now?
38:42You really have delivered.
38:44Where's that contract, Andrew?
38:46I think I need to sit down
38:48after that.
38:49Why don't you go and have
38:49a little look around?
38:50With a pen.
38:51Yes.
38:52No.
38:55At 2.75, I'd buy it.
38:58Turmeric latte, Andrew.
39:13It's the colour of sunshine.
39:14Oh, thank you.
39:16What's yours?
39:16A vegan spiced chai?
39:18Well, yeah, actually it is.
39:20And I don't even live in the
39:21sunshine state.
39:22I have to say, though, waking up
39:24next to the ocean, how invigorating.
39:28Well, that kind of sums up
39:30my renovation journey.
39:31I have literally breathed new life
39:33into an old house.
39:36Is it a two-minute stroll
39:38from right here?
39:40Maybe a little bit longer.
39:41Yeah, well, I show Tony and Vanessa
39:43a brand-new four-storey home
39:46this close to the beach.
39:48Andrew, I have heard that sales pitch
39:50so many times.
39:52Yeah, I really hope Tony and Vanessa
39:53listen to it.
39:54Right, shall we take the beach route back?
39:57Beach route?
39:58I thought it was turmeric.
40:03Tony and Vanessa's goldie home
40:05was not just small,
40:07it was badly designed.
40:11But with clever reorganisation of space
40:14and some impressive design
40:15inside and out,
40:17the old beach shack is history.
40:20It's now the luxurious,
40:21light-filled entertainer
40:23they've dreamed of for so long.
40:28Hello, you two.
40:29God, they look really excited.
40:30Well, you would.
40:31Absolutely.
40:33It's the big day,
40:34transformation day.
40:35Yes.
40:35How are you both feeling?
40:37Nervous and excited.
40:37I'm shaking like all tomorrow
40:39and I'm just excited
40:40to get in there.
40:41Tony's just worried about
40:42what you've done
40:43with all the money you spent.
40:45Of course.
40:46He's the client.
40:48I'm going to break
40:49with tradition today.
40:51Oh.
40:51Mm-hmm.
40:52We are not going to go
40:53through the front door.
40:54We're going to go around the back
40:55because I reckon
40:56that's where all the action is.
40:58That's right.
40:59I'll go off to the beach.
41:00It's miles away this way, isn't it?
41:01Bye.
41:06Wow.
41:07Oh, my goodness me.
41:10Holy cow.
41:18Welcome to the dream.
41:20And that it is.
41:23This is incredible.
41:25I have no words.
41:27And that is not like you.
41:30I'm really gobsmacked.
41:32Well done.
41:36That's incredible.
41:38What you had to work with
41:39and what you've accomplished
41:41is, that's incredible.
41:44It's wild.
41:52This modern coastal palette
41:54of soft, delicate neutrals
41:56and natural wooden stone finishes
41:58exudes understated luxury.
42:04Sleek lines, subtle lighting
42:06and calm, breezy interiors
42:08feel five-star resort.
42:11A perfect place to entertain with pride
42:15or simply relax.
42:18We've got a grown-up's house.
42:20And you've got that indoor-outdoor flow.
42:23Yes.
42:23Amazing.
42:24Just the transformation is out of control.
42:26I want you to just go off
42:30and have a look at everything.
42:32I'll see you in your new main bedroom.
42:35Awesome.
42:39The gentle beachside tones
42:41continue into the bathroom.
42:45Oh, wow.
42:48That's beautiful.
42:49That fluted glass,
42:51that looks magnificent.
42:53Look.
42:53Oh, a proper workspace.
42:56Isn't it stunning?
42:58Oh, that is gorgeous.
43:00Come on.
43:01The laundry echoes the wood finishes.
43:05Plenty of cover space.
43:06Yeah.
43:07Great storage.
43:08Beautiful.
43:09Excellent.
43:10And the not-too-big spare room
43:13is a haven of tranquility.
43:16Stunning.
43:16Lovely guest room.
43:18Oh, wow.
43:19Shears look beautiful.
43:21That's what an entrance should look like.
43:23Look at the door.
43:24Oh, the door's come up beautifully.
43:25The cabinetry.
43:28Wow.
43:28They're good.
43:31So what do you think?
43:32Wow.
43:34Incredible.
43:36This is massive.
43:37And it's beautiful.
43:40We're standing in the old lounge room.
43:42We certainly are.
43:46Bizarre.
43:46Sensational.
43:47Now it is a luxury bedroom suite.
43:51Let's not forget that you've now got an ensuite.
43:53Look at the light on those tiles.
43:57Grout colour's perfect for it too, isn't it?
43:59Yeah.
43:59Have an ensuite.
44:00And you've got an ensuite now.
44:01That's basic.
44:02Exactly.
44:03Well, before you start unpacking your clothes,
44:05let's go and see my mate Andrew Winter.
44:07I have never known anyone at this point
44:09be in a hurry to go and see Andrew Winter.
44:12Exactly.
44:12I'm normally the one that says to you guys,
44:15you need to go and see Andrew.
44:16Now you're telling me.
44:28What Neil has done to this property, in my opinion,
44:31is a game changer.
44:32Yeah, the vision was there
44:35and he's created that vision.
44:37It's incredible.
44:38I agree.
44:39Neil has done it.
44:40I hate him for it.
44:41But there's the but.
44:43Market-wise, right now, as it is,
44:46you've got a chance to cash in
44:49and go the next step.
44:50I mean, there's hardly any houses for sale
44:52in Mermaid Beach, under 10 million.
44:54But you've got a really unusual one
44:57that sits in that sort of apartment buyer market
44:59where there's almost no stock ever.
45:02I'm gagging to know what the agents said.
45:05OK, so the value beforehand,
45:07the agents were coming in, was around 1.7.
45:09Mm-hm.
45:10Yep.
45:10Now, with the money that you've spent
45:12and the way it's looking right now
45:14and the way the market is right now,
45:16you could potentially get 1.75.
45:19No, no, no, that's the wrong note.
45:21That's hard failure right there.
45:23Well, what was that number again?
45:25Oh, that's right.
45:26Up to 2.3.
45:28Oh, what?
45:30Wow.
45:31Yeah, I didn't expect that.
45:32I honestly thought with the budget that we had,
45:34we'd go around even.
45:37Yeah, you've thrown a curveball.
45:39You're right, it's a two-bedroom apartment
45:41with a block of land and a pool.
45:42No body corporate.
45:44Yeah.
45:44Yes.
45:45That's right.
45:45But it's because of the spec you've gone high-end,
45:48you're getting payback for that.
45:49Reaping the benefits, yeah.
45:50Have a little think.
45:52Just make sure you make the right decision.
45:53Because if you make the right decision,
45:54there might be a little special gift for you, Vanessa.
45:56Oh.
45:56Oh, is that right?
45:57I'm bribing now.
45:59Oh, we've got to do anything it takes.
46:01Wow.
46:02Yeah.
46:08The house is over and above.
46:10Yeah.
46:10I agree.
46:11It's inside and out brand new.
46:13It is.
46:14Like, all the way down to the hot water service.
46:16Yeah, I was right.
46:16They've given us a brand new home.
46:18I mean, it was sticks.
46:19So how did you get on?
46:21Really well.
46:22They love it.
46:23They're so excited about this house.
46:26Tony and Vanessa.
46:27It's their dream home.
46:28This house now is functional.
46:31Yep.
46:31It's got everything that we asked for.
46:33It's still only the two of us.
46:34It's still only us.
46:35I still don't have to have guests here.
46:38Okay.
46:38Well, maybe not for days on end.
46:41What's that?
46:42It could be a little gift for Vanessa.
46:45A bribe?
46:46No, I wouldn't use that word.
46:48This is a gift with purchase, I think that's what they're called.
46:52It's a bribe.
46:53You keep using that word.
46:55It's a very nice gift.
46:56So, out of the three properties that we saw, is my favourite still your favourite?
47:02Yeah.
47:03Well, I always said I didn't want to leave Mermaid.
47:05The problem is Andrew found a place in Mermaid.
47:07I don't know.
47:08What else did you tell them?
47:10Well, I told them that I think the house is absolutely beautiful and that it is right for them.
47:13But you don't say things like that.
47:15So, where was that going?
47:17There's a but.
47:18But then we discussed what the value is now.
47:21Okay.
47:22And the value is?
47:24About $600,000 more than when they started.
47:27So, $600,000 plus a gift.
47:30Yes.
47:31$600,000.
47:32That changed the ballgame a bit, didn't it?
47:34Yep.
47:35I know you're working me.
47:39I know you are.
47:41Well, they've both been incredible.
47:43But I think I know which way we're going to go.
47:46Well, I thought I had it in the bag.
47:48Until I saw your bag.
47:50You're not looking inside.
47:51Very special gift.
47:52Vanessa and Tony, your unloved beach shack is now a luxury dream home.
48:06And look, here we are standing in the kitchen enjoying balmy breezes from that indoor-outdoor connection that you always wanted but never dreamt you'd actually have.
48:18I mean, you know, not only is this house an appreciating asset, what's in here could be two.
48:25Just saying.
48:25Is that it?
48:26Is that your sales pitch?
48:27What?
48:28Yes.
48:29We should be asking how they're feeling now at this stage.
48:32So, Tony, Vanessa, how are you feeling at the moment?
48:34Look at the compassion and empathy I've got.
48:36You certainly threw a curveball at us.
48:37I'll give you that.
48:39And how are you feeling?
48:40Yes.
48:40The transformation, Neil, is incredible.
48:44And you have ticked all the boxes that were on brief.
48:48I've got no idea where this is going, do you?
48:49No, because, I don't know, that sounded like there was a reservation there, Vanessa, as well.
48:55Put the bag away.
48:58Okay.
48:59Decision time is here, you two.
49:01All right.
49:02Vanessa and Tony, are you going to love it?
49:06Well, Tony and Vanessa, are you going to list it?
49:15Well?
49:16Guys, we have decided we are going to love it.
49:23Oh, that's going back there then.
49:27No, I'm fine.
49:29I'm fine about that.
49:30Sorry, Wincy, you did show us three cracking properties, one in particular that was amazing.
49:35This is totally on brief.
49:37Mermaid was close.
49:39Positioned, the views, the extra bedrooms was great, but thank you, Neil.
49:43This is single level, and thank you, Neil.
49:46This has just been the most incredible experience.
49:49I'm going to share the gift.
49:51Oh, please do.
49:52Oh.
49:53Vanessa.
49:54Can I open it now?
49:55Of course you may.
49:56Hurry up.
49:56Of course you'd be.
49:57He's desperate to know what's in it.
50:00Please.
50:00Please display.
50:02That is the winner.
50:04Beautiful.
50:04I will wear this big pride.
50:06Will you?
50:07Will you?
50:08Well, just so appreciating, Arthur.
50:10Well, that is bound to go up in value.
50:12There is no doubt about that.
50:14Well, this is lovely.
50:15Very, very generous of you.
50:16Thank you, Andrew.
50:17I know.
50:17How many are in production?
50:19Just that one.
50:20Just the one.
50:21Well, for now.
50:22I thought Andrew had us with the other Mermaid Beach property.
50:29I've talked about that property a lot.
50:31This one had me as soon as I walked in the back step.
50:35Like, once I seen the kitchen and everything, I just, yeah, I knew.
50:38Yeah.
50:39I'm blown away.
50:40Neil's done such a beautiful job here.
50:42There's not a fault in the joint.
50:43I'm so, I'm stoked.
50:45It's better than what I thought it would be.
50:49Come on, crack it open.
50:50Open up.
50:51Yeah.
50:51Let's go.
50:52Yeah.
50:52This is, look at, this is beautiful.
50:55It is.
50:55Look at that.
50:56Yeah.
50:56It's fashion.
50:57Yeah, it's fashion.
50:58Why have we got these glasses?
51:01Congratulations.
51:02Oh, hey.
51:03Because we haven't lived here for months.
51:05Come on.
51:06Oh, come on, Tony.
51:07Come on.
51:08We have a new one.
51:09Wait for it.
51:09Oh, my God.
