00:00Good morning. My name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Really lovely
00:06this morning to speak again to Jason Durr. Now you are on the road, on the stage with
00:12Murder at Midnight, and you're saying it manages to straddle two things quite brilliantly.
00:16It's funny, but it's also a thriller. Now that's quite a tightrope, isn't it?
00:21It is quite a tightrope to walk, but I think brilliantly executed by Torben Betts, who
00:26wrote it. So it's off the great success of his previous play, Murder in the Dark, but
00:31it's a standalone play. And yes, it's a murder mystery, but it's also a farce. So it's funny
00:40and serious at the same time. And the audiences who love farces will have a fantastic night
00:47out, but all those who love a murder mystery will also be satiated as well. So it's sort
00:54of, like you said, it straddles both those genres really, really, really well. And I
00:58mean, all I can say, I only know this because we've been on tour for about four weeks and
01:02the audiences really do respond very well to it. I mean, they're...
01:06It must be lovely, then. You can hear them laughing, but you also...
01:09Well, they're laughing in all the right-way...
01:10...and all some of the wrong places, but that's good too. And so that's never bad. But yes,
01:17it is good. It is... The reaction seems is really encouraging and it's great. So...
01:22How early did you get cast as a one-eyed gangster killer? That's acting, isn't it?
01:26A one-eyed gangster killer? Yes. Well, it's all this typecasting. You see that's all that
01:30baddies. It's great. Baddies are always the best parts to play.
01:36What does that say about you, that you prefer the baddies?
01:39Well, because I've played so many goodies. So it's nice to sort of, yes, jump the fence
01:48really and start playing the baddies. But yes, Murder at Midnight, a great company of actors,
01:55very funny, very funny story. And if you want a, you know, a sort of thrilling but yet funny
02:01evenings entertainment, come and see it. And does your gangland, Quiller, have any redeeming
02:06features whatsoever? Or is that giving away too much?
02:10I'm... Yes, he likes pig farming and...
02:14I'll forgive him anything.
02:17But then it's what he feeds to his pigs, which is slightly dubious. And I'll let you come and
02:22see the show to find that out. We'll leave that as dot, dot, dot. Well, it sounds fabulous.
02:26Jason, really lovely to speak to you again. Thank you very much for your time.
02:29And all good wishes to you too. No problem. Thank you.
02:31Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Take care.
02:36Alright.
02:40Let's go.
02:42I'll see you again.
02:43See you again.
02:44I'll see you again.
02:46Thanks.
02:48I'll see you again.
02:49Bye.
02:54Bye.
03:01Bye.
03:01Bye.
