00:00:00It's more than a lap behind, so there will be no attack from behind.
00:00:04But the yellow-nosed caddy, I'm sure, will try its best to close up in the final hour behind the blue-nosed caddy.
00:00:11And 3.11 is still going. Toyota comes into the pit lane. It will need to do one more stop.
00:00:15They cannot go. 58 minutes on fuel.
00:00:19But it stops before the race leader, or four laps after the race leader.
00:00:26Three laps maybe after the race leader.
00:00:28Out of sequence, remember, because of that incident.
00:00:32And also because they took a short stint, a very short stint, when there were a couple of long, slow zones.
00:00:40They ducked in for fuel. Again, trying to roll the dice, trying to make a difference.
00:00:45Guy Smith, when you're in the clinch, right in the closing stages, you know the cars are equal.
00:00:50If you just do the same as the other guy, it doesn't break the deadlock. It doesn't break the stasis.
00:00:55So you've got to try and make a change. Do something different.
00:00:58And there are ways you can do it. With fuel, with track position.
00:01:02Yeah, you've just got to be creative. At the end of the day, you know, doing the same thing.
00:01:05But if you haven't quite got the pace, you're not going to win the race.
00:01:09So you've got to be creative. So whether it be, as you say, whether it be fuel, tyres, stint length, you've got to try and make that difference up.
00:01:20Unfortunately, we're not going to see that with the Toyota here, you know, losing so much time with that accident.
00:01:26But still, it's in a great position. Anything happens to that Ferrari.
00:01:30And as we know with Le Mans, anything can happen right down to the last lap.
00:01:34Look, we've done 23 hours. There's two minutes in it.
00:01:38That ain't much.
00:01:39Yeah, Brendan Hartley.
00:01:40That's one stop.
00:01:42The pit warm.
00:01:43Away goes to the brakes.
00:01:44It's barely more than the standard fuel stop, but it's also one stoppage somewhere on track and recycled.
00:01:51That's completely correct.
00:01:52And Toyota, of all people, need no reminding of that.
00:01:56Hello, at Davidson and in the background.
00:01:58Toyota need no reminding of, and nor do WRT for that matter, or anybody else who's been here in the last decade,
00:02:05need any reminding of what can happen at this crazy race.
00:02:1057 minutes.
00:02:12There's some change in seconds as the number eight car goes off in pursuit of Alessandro Pierre Gridi.
00:02:19Rio Hirakawa, it is at the wheel.
00:02:21L&P 2, meanwhile, 14 seconds is now the lead gap.
00:02:25Fabio Scherer being hunted.
00:02:28Less successfully at this point in the cycle by Louis de la Tras.
00:02:33And it's now WRT 2-3, with Robin Friens having made his way by when he'd been doing the Duquesne Team 30 car.
00:02:39It's a bit of a while ago, in GTE Am, at the 27th position, Nicky Katzberg has over a minute and a half of advantage over the charging Charlie Eastwood.
00:02:52Has pulled out nearly 17 seconds now over Rahal Frey.
00:02:56Mateo Cairoli in the Project 1 AO Rexy.
00:03:00The dinosaur liveried Porsche is unpicked in now, but will be the final routine stop for that effort.
00:03:06All those four cars have been exceptional this weekend.
00:03:11And Rahal Frey was just creeping away from Mateo Cairoli, which is not an easy job to do.
00:03:16Mateo Cairoli is not in a Porsche by accident.
00:03:20He knows how to pedal those things.
00:03:22He's a Porsche junior factory driver, very much being groomed for success.
00:03:2762 cars started this race, 16 of them were in the hypercar class.
00:03:33At the moment, the top nine are still hypercar entries.
00:03:35There were three other runners at pace at the moment in that class field, in amongst the LMP2s.
00:03:43And the 38 Hertz Team Jota car, which is still in the garage.
00:03:48And we expect to finish the race as a last lap wonder, or last couple of laps wonder.
00:03:53Yeah, it is currently the last car that is not retired.
00:03:58So 40 cars potentially could take the flag.
00:04:02On board with Antonio Fuoco, who's just been warned about track limits.
00:04:08There won't be too many more warnings, so he's going to have to be cautious.
00:04:12That means, by the way, three retirements in our regard.
00:04:15Class, we'll come to those.
00:04:18And a 15.
00:04:19It'll be wild, but first we're going to go down to Louise,
00:04:21who's in pit lane with Team WRT.
00:04:28And with Vincent Vos, Team Principal for WRT,
00:04:31well, this is interesting, isn't it, going into the final hour.
00:04:35Yeah, well, I mean, at the moment, things are going okay, I would say.
00:04:39I mean, we always try to fight for the win,
00:04:42and this is what we do at the moment.
00:04:44There is a 13 seconds gap.
00:04:46We try to catch up.
00:04:48Let's see.
00:04:48I mean, it's how it is.
00:04:51I mean, I did forget how long was a 24-hour race.
00:04:57It's long.
00:04:58Let's see how the finish.
00:04:59And especially how long that last hour is as well.
00:05:01Yeah, especially the last lap.
00:05:03Oh, yeah, you've been there before, so many things can happen.
00:05:07Thank you, Vincent, and we'll hopefully speak to you later.
00:05:0950-car, one-twenty of Woko, closing in now on Ryo Hurikawa to un-lap itself.
00:05:16It is currently, what is that, five laps down?
00:05:18It is five laps back still.
00:05:21This was happening three or four hours ago.
00:05:2450-car was right up behind the number eight Toyota.
00:05:28You were wondering what would happen if you managed to make a pass and get by.
00:05:32At that stage, it didn't happen in traffic.
00:05:35Lots and lots of Danish flags, lots of flags of all nations.
00:05:37The first running of Le Mans a century ago, only four nationalities were represented.
00:05:44France, as you might expect here in Le Mans.
00:05:47There were entries from Belgian drivers, British drivers and German drivers.
00:05:53And now we have, I think I remember correctly, 32 different nations represented on the grid.
00:06:00Some major motorsporting nations and some at the Minho end of the scale.
00:06:07And by the way, radio, that is into Europol's pit board, or not a pit board, but it's...
00:06:14Just reminding him that Johnny Walker's sounds in the 70s comes up shortly on Radio 2.
00:06:19I think it's Will Martin, by the way, with the exception of Antarctica, representing every continent on the planet.
00:06:24Yep, six continents out of the seven.
00:06:26You're right, Antarctica do not...
00:06:27Well, Antarctica don't have a nation state, so they don't have a representation either.
00:06:31But I suppose somebody could come from the Ross Ice Shelf, who might be a full-time scientist and part-time racer, but that sounds a little less than likely.
00:06:42Cleaning some of the debris out of the cooling grills.
00:06:45This will be the final stop, routine stop for the Iron Dames.
00:06:49Well, indeed.
00:06:49What a run they've had.
00:06:51Great spirit, this effort.
00:06:55What a run they've had over the last few years, but what a race they are having here.
00:06:59They've stopped from third place, and it's going to be tight for the podium in GTE.
00:07:05Into Europol leading in LMP2, Fabio Scherer back, pedalling the car.
00:07:11You need two legs to pedal, so we'll have to come up with a better way of describing driving the car with a single foot.
00:07:18Now, what he needs is a Chaparral 2F.
00:07:20Not because of the high wing, but because of the automatic gearbox.
00:07:23Yeah, it's 12 seconds down the gap.
00:07:26It is still closing, and we've still got a pit cycle to go for both of these cars.
00:07:31And Louis Delatraz setting the WRT 41 cars' fastest first sector of the race.
00:07:39Box, Fabio.
00:07:40Okay.
00:07:42They probably don't need to write Fabio on it.
00:07:44If you put 41 and Box, I think he'll probably get it.
00:07:4734.
00:07:5034, indeed.
00:07:53That's been a long, long day.
00:07:55And a long night, and another long day.
00:07:58I don't think writing on in Biro is going to really work.
00:08:02He's coming past you at 160 miles an hour.
00:08:05Get a bit more gaffer.
00:08:06This is actually stuff, isn't it?
00:08:09I need to throw a brick roll at him.
00:08:11Hang on a minute.
00:08:11Box?
00:08:13There's 15 minutes to go.
00:08:14Yeah.
00:08:15Can't do it on fuel.
00:08:16He can't do it on fuel.
00:08:17Box now.
00:08:18So why is he boxing?
00:08:19Has he got a penalty?
00:08:20It's very early.
00:08:21Has he got a penalty?
00:08:22Well, we haven't been informed of the penalty, but the team may have.
00:08:30It is the last hour of the race.
00:08:31Things might not happen.
00:08:34Now, are they just preparing it?
00:08:36Yes.
00:08:36It's not going to the pit wall.
00:08:38It's going to the back of the garage to have a bit more gaffer on.
00:08:41Because if he hasn't got a radio, they can't tell him.
00:08:44Oh.
00:08:44And we don't have the signalling pits at Moussard Corner anymore.
00:08:47There's Michel Gatting.
00:08:48Look, you're quite drawn as well, Michel.
00:08:50Yeah.
00:08:50Emotional.
00:08:51Yeah.
00:08:52And it's a very emotional event, this.
00:08:54Well, their car has now dropped out of third place with its final pit stop.
00:08:59But have we had the final pit stop for the Corvette?
00:09:02Have we had the final pit stop for GR Racing and Riccardo Pero?
00:09:07Because if we haven't, and if they need to stop again, then again, the battle is on.
00:09:12It would mean probably, I would argue it would mean as much to the crew in that pink Porsche
00:09:20to finish on the podium at Le Mans as it will to anybody else,
00:09:24whether they're winning the centenary Le Mans for Ferrari or anything else.
00:09:28I think that crew have as much invested emotionally in this as any other team in the business.
00:09:36That would be an enormous, enormous result for them.
00:09:42And it is hanging in the balance.
00:09:46Duquesne Engineering just on the fringes of the top three in LMP2.
00:09:51Let's hear from them.
00:09:52You're just getting ready to get back into the car now, so it's going to be full attack, I take it?
00:10:03Yeah, full attack.
00:10:04We had to look because of my four hours within six hour drive limit,
00:10:08and I'm just like on the limit.
00:10:10So now we just try to take over the tyres from Rene
00:10:12and see if we can get that third place back.
00:10:15So you're going to stay on the tyres but you're going to swap the driver?
00:10:18Yes, that's what we're going to try.
00:10:20Yeah, we didn't think that we have to fight that hard for P3
00:10:23because at some stage it looked all good until our punctures.
00:10:27So that's Le Mans, yeah.
00:10:28So let's see.
00:10:29Sure is, and you know it well.
00:10:30It's good to see you here and hope you see you at the end.
00:10:34Edgy stuff all round.
00:10:36You can see the faces at Inter-Europol.
00:10:38They're worried, and they should be.
00:10:40Ten and a half seconds now.
00:10:41Louis Delatrazzi is closing,
00:10:43taking chunks of time out of their long, long-held lead.
00:10:48This young man turning heads around the world
00:10:51with his sports car pace on both sides of the Atlantic.
00:10:55All sorts of weird things happen at the end of races like this,
00:10:58as we've seen in years gone by.
00:11:01WRT lost a 1-2 result a couple of years ago
00:11:05when Yiffy Ys car failed on the final lap.
00:11:08They ended up with one car winning.
00:11:10Robin Frein's win in the race
00:11:11just from Tom Blomqvist at Jota.
00:11:14Could it be that they might get that 1-2 this year?
00:11:17They've already had a win in the road to Le Mans,
00:11:19the BMW GT3 car.
00:11:22Valentino Rossi was driving,
00:11:23that they run regularly for him in the Vanatec GT Series.
00:11:28He had his first win in the GT3 car.
00:11:30He was on the Le Mans podium for the first time since 2008.
00:11:33But there's other stuff going on as well.
00:11:35A little further away in 7th place overall,
00:11:38Gabby Aubrey was supposed to be going to the end for Vectorsport.
00:11:42In the words of Fiona Miller,
00:11:44entering her final hour as a member of the press corps here in Le Mans,
00:11:51he is toast.
00:11:53Oh, dear.
00:11:53So they are going to pit and put Matthias back in for the final,
00:11:57what they think should be 5 to 7 laps.
00:12:00So GR Racing, by the way, are now making that final pit stop.
00:12:04That's short cycle the 85 ahead of the 86 with 47 minutes to go.
00:12:10Well, Rahel Frey is the highest rated driver.
00:12:13She's a gold rated driver in the Iron Dames car.
00:12:16And they can see the ORT by TF car.
00:12:19There's the Duquesne car, kind of a 30.
00:12:20We just heard that Neil Jarny will be loaded in in place of Rene Binder.
00:12:25He'll take Rene's tyres and then go hell for leather after a podium spot.
00:12:29But he's about to be put a lap down by the leader,
00:12:32who is still absolutely flying, Fabio Scherer.
00:12:36Fastest lap of its race goes to the Team WRT car,
00:12:41a 3.36.146, 10.2 seconds.
00:12:44That's the number 41 car in second place.
00:12:46So again, that charge from Louis Delatraz is bearing,
00:12:50or is that Frey?
00:12:51No, that is Delatraz in the 30, a 41.
00:12:54Yes.
00:12:55So you can see, 34, 41 ahead of the 34 car on the track,
00:13:02but behind in the points.
00:13:05That's the overlap.
00:13:06There's not much in it.
00:13:06There's the ORT by TF car.
00:13:09The car's still running a comfortable second place.
00:13:12So just about 100 seconds off the now dominant performance from Corvette Racing.
00:13:18And that's a car that's had its troubles this week.
00:13:19Oh, it was nowhere.
00:13:21I mean, it was pack up and let's go home and go to the pub tonight
00:13:24kind of territory early on in the race.
00:13:27Lap three, laps to go.
00:13:29Okay.
00:13:29And you can see there,
00:13:31but you could see what Albert Costa was doing, couldn't you?
00:13:34They're closing.
00:13:35They're closing.
00:13:36They're trying desperately to communicate, aren't they, with Fabio Scherer?
00:13:39How unrowing.
00:13:41You know, look, he's hopping into the car.
00:13:44He's got no radio.
00:13:45He's got no clue about gaps.
00:13:47He's left to find his own pace.
00:13:49They can't even signal him into the box
00:13:50without putting sticky tape on a piece of cardboard.
00:13:53I think David Bram can relate to a lot of that
00:13:55from his time with the XJ220.
00:14:01ORT by TF.
00:14:03I think going to put a bit more gaffer on that bonnet
00:14:05just in case.
00:14:06And the gaffer's sort of peeling off the bonnet.
00:14:08Hasn't, though.
00:14:09The bonnet pins at the front are holding.
00:14:13There's a young audience member.
00:14:15I wonder how many times that young man will come back to Le Mans.
00:14:18I wouldn't bet on him being here,
00:14:21maybe even for the 150th celebration.
00:14:24There you go.
00:14:24This is the 86 car with its commemorative livery,
00:14:26half and half.
00:14:28And look at the filth on the track.
00:14:30So half the viewers outside the track don't see any of that.
00:14:34They just get the black side.
00:14:36Anybody who's on the inside of the track
00:14:37only gets the gulf side.
00:14:39It's quite bizarre.
00:14:41They're looking at two different race cars
00:14:43for the entire race.
00:14:44And unless it spins,
00:14:45they never see the other side of it.
00:14:46No.
00:14:47Not quite clear where we are with the pit stop cycle,
00:14:50by the way,
00:14:50for the 54 Ferrari.
00:14:53Yeah.
00:14:53I can tell you it is.
00:14:55Coming in now.
00:14:56Oh, he says it's in here.
00:14:57It's the battle for second place,
00:14:59or third place, rather,
00:15:00in GTM.
00:15:01It's separated by six seconds.
00:15:02And I think the GR racing car has come out ahead of the Iron Dames.
00:15:07Yes, it has.
00:15:08OK.
00:15:09But it's being closed.
00:15:10Yeah.
00:15:10Battle is on.
00:15:11Well, there is the Corvette that leads in GTM.
00:15:14So our three class leaders
00:15:16as we get into the final three quarters of an hour here.
00:15:20Ferrari, of course,
00:15:21a lead with number 51 in the hypercar class.
00:15:25There is your GTM leader,
00:15:27Vicky Katzberg,
00:15:28in the 33 Corvette.
00:15:30And into Europol,
00:15:31the green and yellow LMP2 car,
00:15:33leading in that category.
00:15:35Fabio Scherer,
00:15:37in,
00:15:37I was going to say,
00:15:39serene silence.
00:15:40I suppose probably not very silent in an LMP2 car.
00:15:42In comes the GTM leader.
00:15:44But Scherer with no radio comms.
00:15:46They're desperately waving things at him
00:15:48to try and keep him up to speed.
00:15:50Make sure he doesn't come in too early
00:15:51or too late.
00:15:53Final stop for the 33.
00:15:55Final stop for Corvette Racing at Le Mans.
00:15:58It will be a very different look
00:16:00to the Corvette presence next year here
00:16:02in a different car,
00:16:04the C06 GT3R,
00:16:06and with a different team to be revealed.
00:16:11The focus for the GT3 Corvette
00:16:13will be on customer racing.
00:16:16Yeah.
00:16:17And I'm sure there'll be a fair number
00:16:20of these men and women
00:16:21behind this effort
00:16:23and efforts over the last better part
00:16:25of a quarter of a century
00:16:26with more than a couple of tears
00:16:28in their eye.
00:16:29This has been an effort
00:16:30that has attracted so much attention,
00:16:32so much loyalty.
00:16:34The most popular sports car team
00:16:36in North America
00:16:37has made a lot of friends
00:16:39here at Le Mans.
00:16:40Also scared the living bejesus
00:16:43out of a lot of people
00:16:44with the midday train horn.
00:16:46That we will miss as much
00:16:48as we will miss the sound
00:16:49of these cars.
00:16:50And our friends over the years
00:16:52have been part of
00:16:53the Pratt & Miller Racing Organisation,
00:16:56Corvette Racing,
00:16:57Doug Feehan particularly,
00:16:58who was the figurehead
00:16:59for a quarter of a century and more,
00:17:01and Danny Binks
00:17:02and all the guys
00:17:04who were here
00:17:04through the early days
00:17:06of their ALMS
00:17:07and brought the cars back
00:17:10to Le Mans
00:17:11time after time
00:17:13after time.
00:17:1331 into the pits
00:17:14from third place.
00:17:16And that dropped it
00:17:17immediately down
00:17:17into fourth.
00:17:19Robin Friens
00:17:20will stay in.
00:17:21I can't imagine
00:17:22Jelly Ignite
00:17:23would get him out
00:17:24of that seat right now
00:17:25in the final 45 minutes.
00:17:26The race last year
00:17:28ended badly, didn't it?
00:17:30With an error
00:17:30at Indianapolis.
00:17:32Mm-hmm.
00:17:33Having won the year before
00:17:34and that's the other side
00:17:36of the Le Mans coin,
00:17:37of course,
00:17:37because for every,
00:17:39even Tom Christensen
00:17:40for every win
00:17:41there's been a year
00:17:42when you haven't won,
00:17:43although he's had
00:17:43a fair share
00:17:44of podium finishes as well.
00:17:46Yeah, it's Tom's record.
00:17:4818 starts,
00:17:49four DNFs,
00:17:5014 podiums,
00:17:53including nine wins.
00:17:54Pretty decent record
00:17:56for a bad spot.
00:17:56Yeah, not bad at all.
00:17:59What goes to your mind
00:18:00out of board the car
00:18:01and the garage
00:18:02at this stage, Guy?
00:18:03I suppose it depends
00:18:04where you're on the race.
00:18:05I mean, 2003,
00:18:06what was that like
00:18:07in the final hour?
00:18:08Well, I mean,
00:18:09I was lucky
00:18:10to be in the car
00:18:12for the final
00:18:12sort of hour and a half,
00:18:13so as I said
00:18:15before to Martin,
00:18:16I think it's probably
00:18:16the best place to be
00:18:17because you're kind of
00:18:18preoccupied.
00:18:19You've got,
00:18:20obviously,
00:18:20to focus on driving the car,
00:18:21but at that point
00:18:23it can only go wrong, really.
00:18:24So you're obviously
00:18:25people just focusing
00:18:26on making sure
00:18:27you get the apexes,
00:18:28don't make any mistakes,
00:18:30and really just looking
00:18:30after the car
00:18:31because it really
00:18:32is the longest hour.
00:18:34I mean,
00:18:34for Alessandro
00:18:36Pergrini now,
00:18:37it's just wanting
00:18:38to wish this
00:18:39next 40 minutes away
00:18:41because he just wants
00:18:42to get that Ferrari
00:18:43to the finish line
00:18:43in one piece.
00:18:45And in many ways,
00:18:46what we're watching here,
00:18:47this run for the last
00:18:4840 minutes for Ferrari,
00:18:49not dissimilar
00:18:50to the run you had
00:18:51with Bentley,
00:18:51a famous make
00:18:52coming back
00:18:53after such a long time,
00:18:55and it's all on the line.
00:18:59Yeah.
00:19:00Yeah,
00:19:01Bentley's gap
00:19:01was more than half a century,
00:19:03nearly three quarters
00:19:04of a century,
00:19:05so it was a long old time.
00:19:06You just saw Ben Keating
00:19:07there in the
00:19:08Corvette Racing Garage
00:19:10saying thanks
00:19:11and well done
00:19:11to the guys.
00:19:12Not all of those
00:19:13crew members,
00:19:14I'm sure,
00:19:15will be with us
00:19:16in Monza.
00:19:17I'm sure they've got
00:19:18extra crew
00:19:18who have come in here
00:19:19for the Le Mans
00:19:20on 24-hour race
00:19:21and it's been
00:19:22a good partnership
00:19:23so far
00:19:24and actually,
00:19:26if they finish
00:19:26on the top step
00:19:27of the podium here,
00:19:28they will be
00:19:29within sniffing distance
00:19:30of the championship title.
00:19:32It's going to depend
00:19:33on exactly what happens
00:19:34in the podium positions
00:19:35but I think
00:19:35if my maths is correct,
00:19:38there will be
00:19:38a maximum
00:19:39of three teams
00:19:40in with a chance
00:19:41of winning the title
00:19:42and that's come
00:19:44particularly courtesy
00:19:45of the fact
00:19:46that a number
00:19:46of other cars
00:19:48in the order
00:19:48haven't finished this race.
00:19:50remember for the WC points
00:19:52as we watch the Ferrari
00:19:53completing the lap,
00:19:55the cars that are not
00:19:56at the WC entrance
00:19:57are effectively invisible.
00:19:59Louise Beckett.
00:20:01Just going past
00:20:01the 65 Panis Racing Garage
00:20:03and the car
00:20:04is in the garage
00:20:06with what they are
00:20:07thinking to do
00:20:07is the same
00:20:08as Hertz Team Jota
00:20:10and go out
00:20:11for the last
00:20:11half an hour
00:20:13of the race
00:20:14just to finish it
00:20:15and get classified.
00:20:17All right, excellent.
00:20:17Well, if they've done
00:20:18enough laps up until now
00:20:20as long as their
00:20:20final lap
00:20:21is within
00:20:22two minutes
00:20:23of the leader
00:20:24of their class
00:20:24this time,
00:20:25something like that.
00:20:26I can't remember.
00:20:26There's now a final lap
00:20:29maximum.
00:20:31And that came
00:20:31actually after
00:20:32Peugeot
00:20:33waited for the flag
00:20:34with Semple Day
00:20:36in the first year
00:20:37of the 908 programme.
00:20:38That, by the way,
00:20:39is what caught out
00:20:40the Toto in 2016
00:20:43was the failure
00:20:44but that's why
00:20:45that car
00:20:46was not classified
00:20:47because they couldn't
00:20:48complete the final lap
00:20:49in the minimum time.
00:20:51The maximum time.
00:20:5123 hours and 59 minutes
00:20:53you can do 24
00:20:5424 hours
00:20:55and more
00:20:56but if you don't
00:20:56make it to the
00:20:57chequered flag
00:20:57you didn't start.
00:20:59Well, you don't finish.
00:21:00WRT's 41
00:21:01is now on pit lane.
00:21:02Luis Taylor-Traz
00:21:03comes in.
00:21:03He was about
00:21:04seven seconds back
00:21:05from the
00:21:06Inter-Europol car.
00:21:07Inter-Europol's
00:21:08penalty, by the way,
00:21:10was rescinded.
00:21:12Okay.
00:21:12So they came in
00:21:12and served that
00:21:13drive-through.
00:21:14The penalty was
00:21:15rescinded
00:21:15which is why
00:21:16they didn't come in
00:21:16and serve a penalty.
00:21:18So luckily
00:21:19they didn't do
00:21:20the penalty first
00:21:21and the pit stop
00:21:23afterwards.
00:21:23They did the pit stop
00:21:24argued
00:21:25then had the penalty
00:21:26rescinded
00:21:27because once you've
00:21:27served it
00:21:28you can't unserve it.
00:21:29They can't give you
00:21:30that 32 seconds back.
00:21:32Now, we don't yet know
00:21:33what we're going to see
00:21:35from WRT
00:21:36next season
00:21:37outside of Hypercar.
00:21:38We most certainly know
00:21:39that we're going to be
00:21:39seeing BMW
00:21:40with them as representatives
00:21:42for the factory
00:21:43and we're likely to see
00:21:44GT3 cars too
00:21:45so this will be
00:21:46their final L&P2
00:21:48pitch top
00:21:48at Le Monde.
00:21:51Let's get down
00:21:52into our GTE field
00:21:54again.
00:21:55GR Racing
00:21:55in the podium
00:21:57contention.
00:21:58Let's hear from them.
00:22:01I'm with Ben Barker
00:22:02from the 86 GR Racing.
00:22:04We are 37 minutes
00:22:06remaining of this
00:22:0724-hour race
00:22:09and you're currently
00:22:09running in third.
00:22:10This is tense.
00:22:12Very, very.
00:22:13Honestly,
00:22:14I don't want to speak
00:22:14too soon
00:22:15but we've had
00:22:16a mad race.
00:22:18We had damage
00:22:19early on
00:22:20and the guys
00:22:21did an amazing job
00:22:22to repair it.
00:22:22We were almost
00:22:23down two laps
00:22:23and we managed
00:22:24to get back
00:22:25onto the lead lap
00:22:26but yeah,
00:22:28now we're going to third
00:22:29so Ricky's just
00:22:30got to manage the gap.
00:22:31They're super close
00:22:32behind the Iron Dames
00:22:33and we've just got to
00:22:34hold off.
00:22:35Right, thank you.
00:22:36I'm not going to
00:22:37speak to you anymore
00:22:38because I know
00:22:38you can't say anymore.
00:22:39I'm going to hide
00:22:40somewhere.
00:22:41I'll add this by the way.
00:22:43With the news we saw
00:22:44earlier this week,
00:22:46news that Proton
00:22:46competition,
00:22:47the dominance
00:22:49in terms of the numbers
00:22:50at least,
00:22:51Porsche customer team
00:22:53in GTE Amos
00:22:54switching to Ford,
00:22:55it leaves
00:22:56slots open
00:22:57for the GT3 cars
00:22:59we expect to see
00:22:59here next year
00:23:00and
00:23:01a good result
00:23:03here for GR Racing
00:23:05could
00:23:06secure
00:23:07the future
00:23:07for that team.
00:23:08Yeah, because
00:23:10they're racing Porsches
00:23:12now,
00:23:13Iron Lynx
00:23:13are racing Porsches
00:23:14now,
00:23:15the Iron Lynx team
00:23:16will be racing
00:23:17Lamborghinis next year,
00:23:18that's their deal,
00:23:20so it does open
00:23:21the door open,
00:23:22leave the door open
00:23:23for maybe somebody
00:23:24like there,
00:23:24maybe somebody
00:23:25like Project One
00:23:26to be part of that
00:23:27GT3 program.
00:23:27Maybe one and one,
00:23:28there's still a possibility
00:23:29that we may see
00:23:29two times one car
00:23:31for two teams
00:23:32rather than a two car team
00:23:33and that could just
00:23:34fall nicely for Mike
00:23:35Wainwright
00:23:36and his very loyal crew.
00:23:38Final stop
00:23:39for the number
00:23:3950 Ferrari.
00:23:42This car,
00:23:42as you can see,
00:23:43just slips down
00:23:44to sixth position
00:23:45as the better placed
00:23:46number five
00:23:48Porsche goes by it.
00:23:52Phenomenal outlet
00:23:53by the way
00:23:53from Louis Delatraz.
00:23:58Louis Delatraz
00:23:59in the Team WRT
00:24:0141 car
00:24:02chasing
00:24:03LMP2 leader
00:24:04Fabio Scherer.
00:24:06We have yet to see
00:24:07Scherer being waved in.
00:24:08Cadillac number three
00:24:09will come in
00:24:10this lap
00:24:11and there'll be
00:24:12a few more pit callers
00:24:14before the end
00:24:14of the race.
00:24:16I'm sure that
00:24:17we're going to get
00:24:18yeah,
00:24:19if you fill now
00:24:21you'll get through
00:24:21in hypercar.
00:24:2334 on pit lane
00:24:24this is the critical pit stop
00:24:25as is the third place
00:24:26Decayne team
00:24:27car.
00:24:29So
00:24:29final two contenders
00:24:32if this race finishes
00:24:33on pace
00:24:34in LMP2
00:24:35on pit lane
00:24:36now
00:24:36it's all about
00:24:37what fuel is needed
00:24:38and how quickly
00:24:39and trouble free
00:24:40can it be done.
00:24:41they've opened the door
00:24:42so you can see
00:24:43the notes
00:24:43haven't they?
00:24:44Go, go, go
00:24:45you'd think that
00:24:46maybe a team member
00:24:47or they could
00:24:48I was going to say
00:24:49they could talk to him
00:24:49on radio
00:24:50of course
00:24:50they can't talk to him
00:24:51later
00:24:51that's why
00:24:51they're waving
00:24:52notes at him
00:24:53and holding
00:24:53sticky tape
00:24:54boards out
00:24:55is what I made earlier
00:24:57the most important pit stop
00:24:59in the history of this team
00:25:00that was done
00:25:01and we'll see
00:25:02when it clears
00:25:03the timing beam
00:25:04at the end of pit lane
00:25:05here comes
00:25:06the 41
00:25:07what is the gap?
00:25:10is the absolute definition
00:25:11of a family team
00:25:12father and son running it
00:25:13Kubis-Mikowski
00:25:15is the young man
00:25:17whose dad
00:25:18who runs Inter-Europol
00:25:19a huge bakery concern
00:25:20in Poland
00:25:21had the money
00:25:21to start racing
00:25:22they started in
00:25:24small
00:25:26sub LMP3 cars
00:25:28in V2V races
00:25:29came up through
00:25:30the Michelin Le Mans
00:25:31company LMS
00:25:32and here they are
00:25:32looking to try
00:25:33and win
00:25:34Le Mans
00:25:35it is
00:25:36the length
00:25:37of the pit straight
00:25:38is the gap
00:25:3933 minutes to go
00:25:41there's a lot
00:25:42of very nervous
00:25:43Polish people there
00:25:44the number 5
00:25:45Porsche
00:25:45why is that
00:25:46going so slowly?
00:25:48why is that
00:25:49going so slowly?
00:25:50that's the number 5 car
00:25:52Michael Christensen
00:25:53he's got an issue
00:25:54that is not
00:25:55racing speed
00:25:56out of Mulsanne corner
00:25:58that is racing speed
00:26:00out of Mulsanne corner
00:26:01he was very low
00:26:02on fuel
00:26:03wasn't he
00:26:03let's take a look
00:26:04at the energy
00:26:05no he's not
00:26:06he's got 2 thirds
00:26:08of his energy left
00:26:10so what's going on here?
00:26:12this is the 6th place car
00:26:13remember here
00:26:14you've got to cross the line
00:26:16to finish this race
00:26:17his next threats
00:26:18are the Lickenhaus cars
00:26:19behind
00:26:20currently 7th and 8th
00:26:22he is stuck in 3rd gate
00:26:23is he stuck
00:26:24on the pit limiter
00:26:25for some reason
00:26:25on the
00:26:25he's doing 85
00:26:28the limiter
00:26:30should be 80
00:26:30yeah
00:26:31he's 85km now
00:26:33that's doing no RPM
00:26:36it was doing RPM
00:26:37though wasn't it
00:26:38it was doing sort of
00:26:387th
00:26:39it seems very slow
00:26:40three cars in the 4th
00:26:42said Bordet
00:26:43will stay aboard the car
00:26:44something loose
00:26:46and flappy in there
00:26:47wasn't there
00:26:4811 seconds
00:26:49is the LMP2 lead gap
00:26:50and look at the huge size
00:26:53of the lumps of rubber
00:26:54coagulating together
00:26:56that get thrown up
00:26:57into these cars
00:26:57and that's what we talk
00:26:58about
00:26:59when we talk about
00:26:59the big lumps
00:27:00that get stuck on a tyre
00:27:02and it suddenly feels
00:27:03like the car
00:27:03is going to shake
00:27:04itself to pieces
00:27:05Guy
00:27:06that's the huge amount
00:27:08that you can run over
00:27:09without noticing
00:27:10and suddenly the car
00:27:11is like
00:27:12vibrating to bits
00:27:13yeah
00:27:14sometimes it sticks
00:27:14to the actual tyre
00:27:15and actually gets caught
00:27:16between the tyre itself
00:27:18and the wheel arch
00:27:19it can do
00:27:19all kinds of damage
00:27:20or gets stuck
00:27:22inside the rim
00:27:22and becomes like
00:27:23an out of balance
00:27:24you can wait
00:27:25on your road car
00:27:26and shakes your fillings
00:27:27very very slow
00:27:29crawl back to the pit
00:27:31and this is really cruel
00:27:32for Porsche Penske team
00:27:34about to be caught
00:27:35by the way
00:27:35by the LMP2 battle
00:27:36yep
00:27:37that's at the moment
00:27:38making its way
00:27:38down towards Indianapolis
00:27:40there's the sister car
00:27:41or one of the two sister cars
00:27:42one already out the race
00:27:43half an hour to survive
00:27:45there's the leading car
00:27:46GTM behind two
00:27:47it's the team's best
00:27:48placed car as well
00:27:50watch for the yellow
00:27:54and green
00:27:55interior port car
00:27:56go by
00:27:56then look for
00:27:57the red and white
00:27:58WRT car
00:28:00which I think
00:28:00is around 10 seconds back
00:28:02here it goes
00:28:06now that was probably
00:28:25half a lap ago
00:28:26when he was
00:28:27crawling away
00:28:28from Mulsanne
00:28:29corner
00:28:29and on the data
00:28:31they will see
00:28:31what power
00:28:32has been transmitted
00:28:33to the wheels
00:28:33there are data sensors
00:28:34on there
00:28:35the FIA
00:28:35will be monitoring
00:28:37them in real time
00:28:39on all of the driven
00:28:40axles of all of the
00:28:42cars in the hypercar
00:28:43class just to make sure
00:28:44that nobody's exceeding
00:28:45their power delivery
00:28:46limits
00:28:47so the team should have
00:28:48that data as well
00:28:49he's obviously
00:28:51it sounds like
00:28:54has got
00:28:54maybe only
00:28:55one wheel
00:28:56of rear wheel drive
00:28:57the
00:28:58LMDH hybrids
00:29:00they produce
00:29:01their hybrid power
00:29:02and that is directed
00:29:04to the rear axle
00:29:05so all the power
00:29:06goes through the wheels
00:29:07this is the second chicane
00:29:08so you can see
00:29:16the engine was revving
00:29:17he was fully lit
00:29:19going down
00:29:19into the second chicane
00:29:21Anthony Davidson
00:29:21box of the neutrals
00:29:23it seemed
00:29:23as he was trying
00:29:24to get on power
00:29:25yeah a little bit
00:29:26yeah
00:29:26and yeah
00:29:27I could see
00:29:28on the graphic
00:29:28as well
00:29:28when it came up
00:29:29he wasn't able
00:29:31to put any throttle
00:29:32down
00:29:32we're going to say
00:29:34a big thank you
00:29:34by the way
00:29:35to Guy Smith
00:29:36for his contribution
00:29:37on this broadcast
00:29:37he's got to leave
00:29:38he's made a fulsome
00:29:39contribution
00:29:40to the centenary event
00:29:41racing
00:29:42and road to Le Mans
00:29:43that was a while ago
00:29:45and as a
00:29:47very valuable
00:29:48and welcome
00:29:50addition to this
00:29:51commentary team
00:29:52for the 2023
00:29:53centenary edition
00:29:54of the Le Mans 24 hours
00:29:55hope we see him again soon
00:29:56absolutely
00:29:57behind the microphone
00:29:57and behind the wheel
00:29:58thank you so much Guy
00:30:00indeed
00:30:00safe journey home
00:30:01and good night's sleep
00:30:05as well
00:30:05when you get home
00:30:06tonight
00:30:06I think everybody
00:30:07will get one of those
00:30:08so 51 Ferrari
00:30:12must be on its way in
00:30:13number 8 Toyota
00:30:14will need to stop
00:30:15as well
00:30:15number 5 Porsche
00:30:16coming down pit lane
00:30:18and
00:30:18the 51 car
00:30:20will go around
00:30:20one more time
00:30:22so Toyota
00:30:25will stop
00:30:26after
00:30:27the 51 car
00:30:28for its final stop
00:30:29and will need
00:30:30to take on less fuel
00:30:31which will take
00:30:31less time
00:30:32real question now
00:30:34for Porsche
00:30:34Penske team
00:30:35at Davidson
00:30:36is can they fix
00:30:38whatever it is
00:30:39in 20 minutes
00:30:40to get it back out
00:30:41inside the final 10
00:30:42to try and make it
00:30:43a finisher
00:30:44well it was either
00:30:45drive shaft issue
00:30:46or gearbox issue
00:30:48I'm going for gearbox
00:30:48seemed to happen
00:30:50on the upshift
00:30:51you can hear from
00:30:52Ben Keating
00:30:54I'm with Ben Keating
00:30:59from the 33 Corvette
00:31:01Ben this is always
00:31:02a tense moment
00:31:03going into this
00:31:04final hour
00:31:05yeah
00:31:06I've come to expect
00:31:08this from Nicky Katzberg
00:31:10after the race
00:31:11in Portimao
00:31:12the race at Spa
00:31:13it's hard for an old man's heart
00:31:16to watch Nicky Katzberg
00:31:17in these races like this
00:31:19but
00:31:20we've had a
00:31:22really crazy race
00:31:24lots of ups and downs
00:31:25so much drama
00:31:27you know
00:31:28with the weather
00:31:29and
00:31:30you know
00:31:30just all over the place
00:31:32I'm really grateful
00:31:34to be where we are
00:31:35right now
00:31:36and
00:31:37you know
00:31:3830 minutes left to go
00:31:40fingers crossed
00:31:41and
00:31:43yeah
00:31:44there's a lot of emotion
00:31:47you know
00:31:47tied behind all of this
00:31:49so
00:31:49we'll see
00:31:50there is a lot of emotion
00:31:52I can feel it and see it
00:31:54and
00:31:54we were worried
00:31:55that we weren't going to be
00:31:56seeing you again
00:31:57but you're just telling me now
00:31:58that you do intend to come back
00:32:00for Le Mans next year
00:32:01it's my hope
00:32:02yeah
00:32:03I would really love to run
00:32:05in the Pro-Am class
00:32:06of LMP2
00:32:07I run LMP2
00:32:09in IMSA
00:32:09and because I did a full season
00:32:12of WEC
00:32:13I did not use my automatic entry
00:32:15for LMP2 before
00:32:16so
00:32:18I'm hopeful that
00:32:19they'll have me back
00:32:20to run in an LMP2 car
00:32:22I would love to do Le Mans
00:32:24for a tenth time in a row
00:32:26in nine different cars
00:32:28that would be fun
00:32:29that would be some record
00:32:30and I think if anyone can do it
00:32:32you can
00:32:33yeah thank you
00:32:34thank you
00:32:34thanks
00:32:35arch enthusiast
00:32:36Ben Keating
00:32:37yeah
00:32:38a tenth of Le Mans entry
00:32:39in nine different
00:32:40kinds of cars
00:32:41and in two different classes
00:32:43as well
00:32:44GTM
00:32:44and then
00:32:45LMP2 Pro-Am
00:32:46but right now
00:32:48let's hope that
00:32:49if they end up
00:32:50in about an hour's time
00:32:52standing on the podium
00:32:53as Victor
00:32:54Victor's in GTM
00:32:56this time
00:32:57he gets to keep the trophy
00:32:58well be double winner
00:32:59because 2022
00:33:01of course
00:33:01won the tier of sports
00:33:02in the Aston Martin
00:33:03but the remarkable thing
00:33:05about that figure
00:33:06the nine different cars
00:33:07who makes it back
00:33:08is
00:33:08he has that ideal opportunity
00:33:10if he can get a drive
00:33:11in Orica
00:33:12at 07
00:33:13because remarkably
00:33:14this dominant car
00:33:15in LMP2
00:33:16whilst he races it
00:33:17and wins in it
00:33:18in North America
00:33:19he's never raced one here
00:33:21so the door is open
00:33:22for that
00:33:23yeah
00:33:24Ben Keating's really been
00:33:25he's had such a solid
00:33:27performance here
00:33:28brilliant in qualifying
00:33:30as I said earlier on
00:33:31and I think
00:33:33the thing that I'm most impressed by
00:33:35not just with his efforts
00:33:36but the whole team
00:33:37was that never give up attitude
00:33:38they had problems
00:33:39with the suspension
00:33:40earlier on
00:33:41in the race
00:33:42and they just
00:33:43put their foot down
00:33:45got on with the job
00:33:46and Ben particularly
00:33:48you know
00:33:48brilliant effort
00:33:50to get that car
00:33:51right back up
00:33:52to the sharp end
00:33:53to lead this race
00:33:53as into the pit lane
00:33:54comes the car 51
00:33:55with 5% energy remaining
00:33:57you can see on the left hand side
00:33:58of your screen there
00:34:00yep
00:34:00inside the final 25 minutes
00:34:03good thought from my buddy
00:34:05Ken Childs
00:34:06watching in
00:34:07Durham North Carolina
00:34:08would it be
00:34:10the second time
00:34:12only
00:34:13a garage 56 entry
00:34:15has finished them on
00:34:16if the number 24 car finishes
00:34:18signaling method
00:34:18car 34
00:34:19in the signaling area
00:34:20under investigation
00:34:21that's waving the bit of
00:34:23plastic out
00:34:23because they didn't have
00:34:24any radio
00:34:25the answer is
00:34:27Frederick Sose finished
00:34:29I think
00:34:30he's
00:34:31classified as a finisher
00:34:32yes he was
00:34:32I think
00:34:34the
00:34:35academy car
00:34:36he put together
00:34:37finished
00:34:37I'll check that
00:34:38okay
00:34:38in which case
00:34:40possibly the third
00:34:41now
00:34:42you can see that
00:34:43all the pit boards
00:34:44are on
00:34:45sort of
00:34:45swivelly
00:34:46arm things
00:34:46so they swivel out
00:34:47of the way
00:34:48and that's
00:34:48presumably
00:34:49a safety rule
00:34:50you don't normally
00:34:52have somebody
00:34:53holding a pit board
00:34:54out anymore
00:34:54and you saw
00:34:56the 34 team
00:34:58making a big
00:34:59plastic
00:34:59sort of
00:35:00name card
00:35:02from the top
00:35:02of the garage
00:35:03into a pit board
00:35:04for Fabio Scherer
00:35:05because he's lost
00:35:06his radio
00:35:06I would
00:35:08sense that perhaps
00:35:09there might be
00:35:09a little fine
00:35:10he's going to have
00:35:11to recycle the car
00:35:12isn't it
00:35:12this could be drama
00:35:13for Ferrari
00:35:14it happened before
00:35:16the engine refused
00:35:18to stop
00:35:18about four hours ago
00:35:20refused to start
00:35:21again
00:35:21and they had to go
00:35:23through a power cycle
00:35:24and that time
00:35:26I think
00:35:28it was also
00:35:29Sanjio Pierre Guidi
00:35:31you can hear
00:35:32his engineer
00:35:33very calmly
00:35:34giving him the
00:35:34instructions
00:35:35it's right there
00:35:36in front of you
00:35:37do this
00:35:37do that
00:35:38wait there
00:35:39okay
00:35:40lights are on
00:35:41is anybody home
00:35:43yes they are
00:35:43okay
00:35:44so twice
00:35:46in this morning
00:35:48early afternoon
00:35:49or the early afternoon
00:35:50and mid afternoon
00:35:51now the car
00:35:52yeah
00:35:52heart in the mouth
00:35:53moment at Toyota
00:35:54damn it
00:35:55they're saying
00:35:56but
00:35:56the 80s are
00:35:58inage by the way
00:35:59yeah
00:35:59okay
00:36:01just a moment
00:36:03of worry there
00:36:03now they've had
00:36:04two or three
00:36:05James Collado
00:36:10can't bear it
00:36:11they've had
00:36:11two or three
00:36:12absolutely no drama
00:36:14pit stops since then
00:36:15no drama at all
00:36:17fired up
00:36:17boom gone
00:36:18and now it's done
00:36:19it again
00:36:20Louise Beckett
00:36:20I'm just looking at
00:36:22that picture of James
00:36:23Collado now
00:36:24and think
00:36:25I've seen that
00:36:26about three times
00:36:27before here
00:36:28but when he's been
00:36:28in GT
00:36:29and most of the time
00:36:31it's turned out
00:36:31okay
00:36:32and he's won
00:36:32but just that picture
00:36:34of his head
00:36:35in his hands
00:36:36yeah
00:36:36that's a very
00:36:37it's a not
00:36:39and again
00:36:40as Guy Smith
00:36:40sitting again
00:36:41At Davidson
00:36:41will be the same
00:36:42when you are
00:36:43in the garage
00:36:45powerless
00:36:46and just
00:36:47watching and waiting
00:36:48for the axe to fall
00:36:50that must be
00:36:51a pretty
00:36:52tough deal
00:36:52now then
00:36:53nosecone
00:36:54being moved
00:36:55in the Ferrari garage
00:36:56I don't think
00:36:57that's to make room
00:36:57for the dancing
00:36:58and celebrating
00:36:59final pit stop
00:37:01by the way
00:37:01underway
00:37:01or on pit road
00:37:03rather
00:37:03for the number
00:37:04two Cadillac
00:37:05looks at the moment
00:37:06in third place
00:37:08and not threatened
00:37:08on pace
00:37:09from behind
00:37:10LMP2 by the way
00:37:12Papio Sherr
00:37:13is pulling away
00:37:14from Louis Delatraz
00:37:15but we have that
00:37:16pit signaling
00:37:17under investigation
00:37:18the method
00:37:20of pit signaling
00:37:21which we saw
00:37:22was racer tape
00:37:23spelling out a message
00:37:24with no radio
00:37:25for the 34
00:37:26getting into box
00:37:28and also
00:37:28team member
00:37:29over the
00:37:31with arms over the wall
00:37:32trying to signal
00:37:33how many laps
00:37:34to pit
00:37:35I'd have to check
00:37:36about regulations
00:37:37this stage
00:37:38lap of the gods
00:37:40yeah that would be
00:37:42extraordinarily harsh
00:37:43if they receive
00:37:44a real penalty
00:37:45for that
00:37:45particularly given
00:37:46that it's not just
00:37:47a car
00:37:47trying to finish the race
00:37:49it's about victory
00:37:50in the class
00:37:50in the P2 cars
00:37:52you do have
00:37:53or any car
00:37:53you have meetings
00:37:55lots of meetings
00:37:55prior to the race
00:37:56you know full well
00:37:58when you have
00:37:59the fuel warning light
00:38:00coming on
00:38:01you know full well
00:38:02at which point
00:38:03on the circuit
00:38:03if it comes on there
00:38:05you have to box
00:38:06if it comes on
00:38:07in another place
00:38:08on a track
00:38:08you're okay to carry on
00:38:10it's 709
00:38:11709
00:38:12it's
00:38:15yeah 708
00:38:16is in the pit lane
00:38:17Olivier Platt
00:38:17that car
00:38:18709
00:38:19is in 7th place
00:38:20and the car behind it
00:38:21the 8th place
00:38:22number 5 Porsche
00:38:23also in the pit lane
00:38:24done again
00:38:25this first chicane
00:38:28I mean it's bone dry
00:38:30and it's still
00:38:31catching out cars
00:38:32it's always a tricky
00:38:35one that first chicane
00:38:36because you're braking
00:38:36turning in to the right
00:38:37and then you carry on
00:38:38braking as you turn
00:38:39the car left
00:38:40and that change
00:38:41of body roll
00:38:42in the car
00:38:43really doesn't like it
00:38:44you come from such high
00:38:45speed of course
00:38:45down the Motosan
00:38:46straight
00:38:46now he's completely
00:38:48beached that car
00:38:48won't be able to
00:38:49reverse out of it
00:38:50he's going to need
00:38:51external help
00:38:52he is
00:38:52and we've got
00:38:53under 20 minutes to go
00:38:54by the way
00:38:54the sister car
00:38:55just before it pitted
00:38:56had gone up to 6th place
00:38:58because of the issue
00:39:00for the number 5
00:39:01Porsche
00:39:01Penske Motorsport
00:39:02963
00:39:03so
00:39:04the lead car
00:39:05the full season car
00:39:06708
00:39:07is in 6th
00:39:08the 7th place car
00:39:09remember
00:39:10to retain
00:39:11any finitude position
00:39:12you have to cross the line
00:39:14well he's in a position
00:39:15where they can
00:39:16easily push him back
00:39:17and put him on
00:39:18to terra firma
00:39:18relatively easily
00:39:19and relatively quickly
00:39:20I think he's going to need
00:39:21the lift
00:39:22Toyota team are on their feet
00:39:24they will be ready
00:39:25I don't think this lap
00:39:27for the number 8
00:39:28Toyota Gazze racing entry
00:39:29but maybe the next lap
00:39:31Antonio Giovinazzi there
00:39:33James Collado
00:39:34sitting
00:39:36waiting
00:39:36watching
00:39:37how many GT wins
00:39:39have they had
00:39:39Collado-Pierguidi
00:39:41here?
00:39:43I'd have to go and check
00:39:44I'd have to go and check as well
00:39:46one other very quick thing
00:39:47to mention
00:39:48is GR Racing
00:39:49in the hands of Ricardo Pera
00:39:50is gradually
00:39:51edging away
00:39:52from the Iron Dames
00:39:53that final podium position
00:39:54the gap is growing
00:39:57very slightly
00:39:58it's out to
00:39:597 seconds now
00:40:00Rahal Frey
00:40:01was
00:40:01taking time out
00:40:03to him
00:40:03well there you go
00:40:04call me a lie
00:40:04number 8 car
00:40:05comes down pit road
00:40:06yeah see
00:40:08I didn't think
00:40:08they needed to come in
00:40:09now
00:40:0913% would have
00:40:11taken him round
00:40:11at least another lap
00:40:12but in they come
00:40:15709 Glickenhaus
00:40:17guys I think
00:40:19they might have come in
00:40:20because there's a full course
00:40:22the slow zone
00:40:23is about to come out
00:40:24exactly right
00:40:26so you might as well do
00:40:26the pit stop now
00:40:27in hope that
00:40:28it won't be there
00:40:31by the time you get back out
00:40:32but I'm pretty sure
00:40:33it will be
00:40:33another one of those
00:40:34racing vision
00:40:36tear-off visors
00:40:37being peeled off
00:40:38the win screen
00:40:38the answer by the way
00:40:40about James Collado
00:40:41and Alessandro Piergreedy
00:40:43four wins here in GTE Pro
00:40:46the answer is
00:40:47Collado has two wins
00:40:50in 2019 and 2021
00:40:51and three second places
00:40:53wow
00:40:54Alessandro Piergreedy
00:40:56has the two wins
00:40:59and two second places
00:41:01okay
00:41:02that is in GTE Pro
00:41:06which ceased to be
00:41:08part of the championship
00:41:09at the end of last season
00:41:10so they took the final title
00:41:11as well
00:41:12the third of their
00:41:13championship titles
00:41:14as a duo
00:41:15and of course
00:41:18winning Le Mans
00:41:19with double points
00:41:1950 points for victory here
00:41:21that never hurts
00:41:22your championship campaign
00:41:23number eight team
00:41:27is done
00:41:2817 minutes to go
00:41:30in the centenary
00:41:31Le Mans
00:41:31Martin Haver
00:41:33and Graham Goodwin
00:41:34and Anthony Davidson
00:41:35well they didn't go down
00:41:37without a fight
00:41:38did they
00:41:38Toyota
00:41:39and I think that's what
00:41:40has impressed me the most
00:41:41with them
00:41:42their efforts
00:41:43this race
00:41:44here at the centenary
00:41:46event at Le Mans
00:41:47they were
00:41:48they were
00:41:49you know
00:41:49fighting right to the end
00:41:51we're still
00:41:5216 minutes still to go
00:41:53of course
00:41:54but I mean
00:41:55in terms of pure performance
00:41:56it was very evenly matched
00:41:58with Ferrari
00:41:59and
00:42:00to the point where
00:42:01they had to both
00:42:02push themselves
00:42:04into uncomfortable territory
00:42:05I'd say
00:42:06I completely agree
00:42:06I think that's what's
00:42:07defined this race
00:42:08yeah
00:42:08I think that's
00:42:09you know
00:42:10it pushed both
00:42:12driver and machine
00:42:13right over the limit
00:42:15at points
00:42:15and
00:42:16yeah like I say
00:42:17massively uncomfortable
00:42:18and something was going
00:42:19to give
00:42:20I had the feeling
00:42:20something was going
00:42:21to give
00:42:21they were
00:42:22they were trading
00:42:23fastest laps
00:42:24all the time
00:42:24it was
00:42:26at the time
00:42:26it was Brendan Hartley
00:42:28versus
00:42:29Giovinazzi
00:42:30and
00:42:31it just felt like
00:42:33you were going to
00:42:34meet boiling point
00:42:36and
00:42:36yeah
00:42:37it was Rio
00:42:37when he got in the car
00:42:38warned by Brendan Hartley
00:42:40that the rear end
00:42:41was very unstable
00:42:42had to be careful
00:42:43with the
00:42:44saturation of the brakes
00:42:45and how it was
00:42:46too much
00:42:47on the rear end
00:42:48couldn't do anything
00:42:49about it
00:42:50there were clearly
00:42:51it was clearly
00:42:53the Achilles heel
00:42:53of that car
00:42:54this whole race
00:42:55or pretty much
00:42:55the whole race
00:42:56warned by Brendan
00:42:57but still
00:42:58the rear locked up
00:42:59into our Nage
00:43:00and that effectively
00:43:01cost them the chance
00:43:03to take the fight
00:43:04all the way to
00:43:05the dying seconds
00:43:06of this race
00:43:07of course
00:43:08Cadillac racing
00:43:08in third and fourth
00:43:09delighted to have
00:43:10those sounds of America
00:43:11delighted to have
00:43:12this sound of America
00:43:13awful lot of fans
00:43:15saying the only reason
00:43:15they've been able
00:43:16to stay awake
00:43:17through the night
00:43:18is that every four
00:43:19minutes there's a
00:43:20thundering V8 alarm
00:43:21clock comes rolling
00:43:22by
00:43:23I'm delighted also
00:43:24to have had on the
00:43:25team another voice
00:43:26of America motorsport
00:43:27Jim Rohner
00:43:27it's
00:43:28I hope it's not
00:43:29been a disappointing
00:43:30race for your return
00:43:31to Le Mans
00:43:32oh heavens no
00:43:33this has been
00:43:34fantastic
00:43:34this has been
00:43:36everything I'd hoped
00:43:37it would be
00:43:37it has been
00:43:39absolutely wonderful
00:43:40to finally see
00:43:41these hypercars
00:43:42in person
00:43:42and Anthony
00:43:45summed it up
00:43:45greatly
00:43:46I mean this
00:43:46came down
00:43:47to the final
00:43:4845 minutes
00:43:50you can't ask
00:43:51for more than that
00:43:51maybe they'll be
00:43:52second guessed
00:43:53about maybe
00:43:54who should have
00:43:55finished the race
00:43:55for Toyota
00:43:57but I'll leave
00:43:58that to other people
00:43:59there's a happy man
00:44:00right there
00:44:00and you're going to
00:44:01have two American
00:44:02class winning cars
00:44:03yeah that's right
00:44:04that might be a first
00:44:05with the Corvette
00:44:06winning in GTM
00:44:07at least at the moment
00:44:09and the Hendrick
00:44:10Motorsport
00:44:10Chevy Camaro
00:44:12winning in the
00:44:12Invitational Class
00:44:13okay
00:44:13I feel the one
00:44:14but you know
00:44:15winning popular opinion
00:44:16well absolutely
00:44:17winning hearts and minds
00:44:19in a huge number
00:44:21and I mean not saying
00:44:22that they have won yet
00:44:23I mean if anyone
00:44:24knows better than
00:44:25anybody else
00:44:25it's me
00:44:26and if you don't
00:44:29know what I'm talking
00:44:30about
00:44:30YouTube 2016
00:44:32Toyota
00:44:32then you'll know
00:44:33literally
00:44:35the last lap
00:44:36of the race
00:44:36we're in the lead
00:44:37by a minute and a half
00:44:38and we didn't win
00:44:39so I'm not saying
00:44:41that Ferrari have won
00:44:42but if they were to win
00:44:43then you want to beat
00:44:46the best
00:44:46you don't want it
00:44:48handed to you
00:44:49this race hasn't been
00:44:50handed to them
00:44:51they've had the speed
00:44:52they're on pole position
00:44:53as front row lockout
00:44:54they haven't made
00:44:55strategical errors
00:44:56they've been right
00:44:58on the money
00:44:58all the time
00:44:59all the way through
00:45:00this race
00:45:01all the drivers
00:45:02driven brilliantly well
00:45:04one little error
00:45:05from Pierre Guidi
00:45:06in the night
00:45:06but I forgive him
00:45:07because there was
00:45:08a spinning car
00:45:09in front of him
00:45:09in that first chicane
00:45:10so he was actually
00:45:13one of the pivotal
00:45:13moments of the race
00:45:14where he really
00:45:15got that car
00:45:16into the lead
00:45:17and excelled
00:45:18and you want to
00:45:19beat the best
00:45:20that's the thing
00:45:21Toyota are the best
00:45:22they're leading
00:45:23the world championship
00:45:23we've had three races
00:45:24they're leading
00:45:25the world championship
00:45:26and they come here
00:45:27with the target
00:45:28on their back
00:45:29and when you stand
00:45:30on that top step
00:45:30of the podium
00:45:31you want to look
00:45:31over your shoulder
00:45:32and know
00:45:33that the best
00:45:34is standing next
00:45:35to you
00:45:35and on that day
00:45:36you were better
00:45:38I completely agree
00:45:39you've taken some
00:45:40of the words
00:45:40out of my mouth
00:45:41on this one
00:45:42the best thing
00:45:43about this race
00:45:44will come to the events
00:45:45in due course
00:45:46is it's not been
00:45:48easy to win
00:45:49it's been very easy
00:45:50to lose for some people
00:45:52but it's not been
00:45:52easy to win
00:45:53the depth of competition
00:45:55the scale
00:45:56of that competition
00:45:57this is the 31
00:46:00WRT car
00:46:01the third place car
00:46:02that was not
00:46:03a Ferrari nose
00:46:04coming through a garage
00:46:05it was a WRT nose
00:46:07coming through a garage
00:46:07it's a problem
00:46:08it's not identified
00:46:09the colour
00:46:09so have they got
00:46:11a braking issue
00:46:12or a clutch issue
00:46:13it looked like
00:46:13they were working
00:46:14or a steering rack issue
00:46:15it looked like
00:46:15they were working
00:46:16on the master cylinder
00:46:17you can go through
00:46:18into a podium position
00:46:20and that's why
00:46:20you saw the excitement
00:46:22and the
00:46:22no no no
00:46:23don't no
00:46:24don't yet
00:46:25don't yet
00:46:25everybody's holding
00:46:26their breath
00:46:27but the final thing
00:46:28it's thrown incident
00:46:30and it's thrown drama
00:46:31and it's thrown
00:46:32fantastic racing
00:46:34and uncertainty
00:46:34at us
00:46:35lap after lap
00:46:37after lap
00:46:38after lap
00:46:39after lap
00:46:39this is truly
00:46:40a worthy race
00:46:42for a centenary
00:46:43and Jim Roller
00:46:43it's been an
00:46:44epically talented field
00:46:46in the hypercar class
00:46:47you can't possibly
00:46:49fault this choice
00:46:49over any of the
00:46:50drivers in the cars
00:46:51no
00:46:52in GTM
00:46:53in LMP2
00:46:54as well
00:46:55it's just been
00:46:56such hard
00:46:57close racing
00:46:58my last trip here
00:47:01was 2019
00:47:01before COVID
00:47:02and in the
00:47:04intervening years
00:47:05I have seen
00:47:05an improvement
00:47:06in the GTM
00:47:08category
00:47:08and it really
00:47:10showed in this
00:47:11event
00:47:11not only with the
00:47:12way Ben Keating
00:47:14qualified the car
00:47:15but the way that
00:47:15team came back
00:47:16the great battle
00:47:17with the 25 car
00:47:19and the 85 car
00:47:20I've enjoyed
00:47:22the Ben Keating
00:47:23Sarah
00:47:24Bovi
00:47:25battle all season
00:47:26long
00:47:27in the bronze
00:47:29category
00:47:29but Ferrari
00:47:30is going to
00:47:31in 11 minutes
00:47:33they hope
00:47:34their fingers
00:47:34crossed
00:47:35that they will
00:47:36gather finally
00:47:37their 10th victory
00:47:38at this great race
00:47:40and that is
00:47:41that's a milestone
00:47:43that they can hold
00:47:44proudly
00:47:45that's a massive
00:47:46result for Ferrari
00:47:47it's a massive result
00:47:48for this rule set
00:47:50it's a massive result
00:47:51for the 24 hours
00:47:51of Le Mans
00:47:52Ferrari are back
00:47:53in the top class
00:47:54and in winning form
00:47:55we said
00:47:55after hyperpole
00:47:57that that would be
00:47:58a news item
00:47:59that would be
00:48:00in timelines
00:48:00otherwise we'd never
00:48:01have seen anything
00:48:02about this
00:48:03and boy are we
00:48:04going to get
00:48:04another one
00:48:04the only manufacturers
00:48:05that have won more
00:48:06Porsche and Audi
00:48:07yep
00:48:08it's
00:48:10I mean
00:48:11again it's one
00:48:13of those things
00:48:13that happens in life
00:48:14that if you wrote
00:48:15it in this group
00:48:15yeah they come back
00:48:16after 50 years
00:48:17and they win
00:48:18one of the toughest
00:48:18races on record
00:48:19okay that's a bit
00:48:21far-fetched
00:48:22can you just put
00:48:22a bit more jeopardy
00:48:23in there
00:48:24a few more failures
00:48:24listen from day one
00:48:26we knew that they
00:48:27had potential
00:48:28we went to Sebring
00:48:29and they shook
00:48:31Toyota
00:48:31I mean genuinely
00:48:32shook Toyota
00:48:34by taking pole position
00:48:36then Toyota
00:48:37fought back
00:48:37and took the race win
00:48:40they won two
00:48:41in Autumau
00:48:41they won
00:48:42in Spa-Francorchamps
00:48:43but there's been
00:48:45a Ferrari
00:48:45on the podium
00:48:46at every race
00:48:47and they started
00:48:48they returned to
00:48:49Le Mans
00:48:50with pole position
00:48:51in the hyperpole
00:48:52with a front row
00:48:53lockout
00:48:54how much of that
00:48:56was just
00:48:57sprint race pace
00:48:58how long would
00:48:59the cars last
00:49:00well the answer is
00:49:01they've traded
00:49:02bows with everyone
00:49:03around them
00:49:04slugged it out
00:49:05and they are still
00:49:06standing at the top
00:49:08of the pile
00:49:08and as a team
00:49:10as well
00:49:10we kept saying
00:49:11they were a test team
00:49:12when they arrived
00:49:13in Sebring
00:49:13they've done a lot
00:49:14of kilometres
00:49:15in testing
00:49:15obviously as a new team
00:49:17you're allowed to do
00:49:17more testing miles
00:49:19than an established team
00:49:20like the likes of Toyota
00:49:22but still
00:49:24you're not a race team
00:49:25this race
00:49:27is the first time
00:49:28I've seen them
00:49:28be a race team
00:49:29take it easy
00:49:33take it easy
00:49:33no need to push
00:49:35slow laps are good
00:49:36you're not hearing
00:49:37you guys are
00:49:43I've
00:49:43I've had my audio
00:49:46turned off
00:49:46yeah
00:49:46nine minutes to go
00:49:48and
00:49:48we're closing in on
00:49:50history
00:49:521973
00:49:53the last time
00:49:54a factory
00:49:55Ferrari team
00:49:56entered here
00:49:571965
00:49:58the last time
00:49:59a Ferrari factory team
00:50:00won overall here
00:50:02Master Gregory
00:50:02and Jochen Renz
00:50:03in the Ferrari 250
00:50:05LM
00:50:06I was one year old
00:50:07I was
00:50:10minus 20
00:50:1138
00:50:12Hertz team
00:50:13Jota
00:50:14coming out
00:50:14as is the number
00:50:15five
00:50:16Porsche
00:50:17ready for
00:50:18the final
00:50:19lap
00:50:2094
00:50:20Peugeot
00:50:21should leave
00:50:22the pit lane
00:50:22now as well
00:50:23they're going to need
00:50:24to find some pace
00:50:26to make sure
00:50:26that they are
00:50:27classified as finishers
00:50:28DKR have finished
00:50:29their final pit stop
00:50:31and
00:50:32it looks as though
00:50:33the number five
00:50:34Porsche
00:50:34unless it leaves
00:50:37is not going to make it
00:50:38well
00:50:39those two guys
00:50:40their teammates
00:50:41Rio Hirakawa
00:50:42they know what it takes
00:50:43to win Le Mans
00:50:44they've done it
00:50:45plenty of times
00:50:46looks right now
00:50:48as if it may not
00:50:49be their turn
00:50:50for info
00:50:52if we do
00:50:53three minute
00:50:5438
00:50:55lap times
00:50:56we reduce
00:50:57one lap
00:50:58from the race
00:50:58ok
00:51:02that seems like
00:51:03more in order
00:51:04than a message
00:51:05that seems like
00:51:06definitely the right
00:51:07thing to do
00:51:08if you do
00:51:08three minute
00:51:0935
00:51:09we have to do
00:51:10another whole
00:51:11lap
00:51:11and we may not
00:51:12want to do that
00:51:13so just
00:51:14lift and coast
00:51:16lift and coast
00:51:17not necessarily
00:51:17go slowly
00:51:18not lose your focus
00:51:20just lift and coast
00:51:21so Ferrari 51
00:51:22leads from
00:51:24the number eight
00:51:24Toyota Kazoo
00:51:25racing car
00:51:26passes the line
00:51:28now for what
00:51:29should be the
00:51:29anti-penultimate
00:51:31time
00:51:31Cadillac
00:51:33racing's number
00:51:33two car
00:51:34in the moment
00:51:35completing the
00:51:35overall podium
00:51:36positions in the
00:51:37classes into
00:51:38Europol
00:51:3816.3 seconds
00:51:41ahead of team
00:51:42WRT
00:51:43and the Cane team
00:51:44that's what it means
00:51:45to Albert Costa
00:51:45yeah focusing on the
00:51:47phone
00:51:47don't think about it
00:51:48don't look at it
00:51:49wait for it to happen
00:51:51yeah the problem is that
00:51:52the internal combustion
00:51:54engine doesn't know
00:51:54there are six minutes
00:51:55remaining
00:51:55the gearbox doesn't know
00:51:57there are six minutes
00:51:57it doesn't know what
00:51:58time is
00:51:59doesn't live by time
00:52:01it just does its thing
00:52:02and when it breaks
00:52:03it can break
00:52:03and it's going to be
00:52:05okay
00:52:05it's going to be
00:52:06okay
00:52:07and in the
00:52:09Inter-Europol car
00:52:10because he's not
00:52:11got a radio
00:52:11Fabio Scherer
00:52:12doesn't know how much
00:52:13time he's got
00:52:14absolutely right
00:52:14but Ant is right
00:52:16this
00:52:16how many times
00:52:17we have to have
00:52:18this race throw
00:52:18drama at us
00:52:19before we stop
00:52:20making assumptions
00:52:21that's why I'm
00:52:22calling it as I see
00:52:23it at the moment
00:52:24in GTM
00:52:24it's this car
00:52:25magnificent
00:52:26run from
00:52:28the Corvette Racing
00:52:29team all season
00:52:30to this point
00:52:30double points
00:52:32for the WEC
00:52:32that's less important
00:52:33right now
00:52:34to Ben Keating
00:52:35is watching the TV
00:52:36and the car tracker
00:52:39they are way ahead
00:52:40of the ORT
00:52:42by TF
00:52:42Aston Martin
00:52:43Charlie Eastwood
00:52:44looking to bring
00:52:45the 25 car home
00:52:46what a day
00:52:47for the
00:52:48tiny nation
00:52:49of Oman
00:52:50like any
00:52:51like any Gen Z
00:52:52would be doing
00:52:53just go straight
00:52:54to the phone
00:52:54if you want to
00:52:55preoccupy yourself
00:52:55straight to the
00:52:56mobile phone
00:52:57what do drivers do
00:52:57before there was
00:52:58Twitter
00:52:59and
00:52:59TikTok
00:53:01to watch
00:53:02and WhatsApp
00:53:02what did you do
00:53:03when you didn't
00:53:04have a phone
00:53:04to distract
00:53:05you couldn't
00:53:05do anything
00:53:06we were stressing
00:53:07like Ben Keating
00:53:08that's what we were doing
00:53:09they paced
00:53:10and they went out
00:53:10back and smoked
00:53:11a cigarette
00:53:11most of them
00:53:12people like Ben Keating
00:53:14this is how the
00:53:15young'uns do it
00:53:16just go straight
00:53:16to the mobile phone
00:53:17this is how difficult
00:53:18this race was
00:53:19three safety car periods
00:53:20three hours
00:53:20under safety car
00:53:21and lots of
00:53:22full course yellow
00:53:22as well
00:53:23Ben Keating
00:53:24is just all over
00:53:25this
00:53:25before we forget
00:53:26the final podium
00:53:27position at the moment
00:53:29in the hands of
00:53:29GR Racing
00:53:30they have fought
00:53:31for that position
00:53:32all day
00:53:33all night
00:53:34and all day again
00:53:35Mike Wainwright
00:53:37Riccardo Perra
00:53:38who's at the
00:53:38win of the car
00:53:39at the moment
00:53:39and Ben Barker
00:53:40winning a battle
00:53:42and boy was it
00:53:43a battle
00:53:43with the Iron Dames
00:53:44with five minutes
00:53:46to go
00:53:46and it is
00:53:47yeah
00:53:47that's going to be
00:53:48a tough break
00:53:48for the Iron Dames
00:53:49they've been in
00:53:50contention
00:53:50for a podium
00:53:51here at Le Mans
00:53:52all the way
00:53:53through the race
00:53:54they've led
00:53:54they've been in
00:53:55the top three
00:53:56they've been in
00:53:56the top six
00:53:57always on the lead
00:53:58lap
00:53:58and just to miss out
00:53:59by ten seconds
00:54:01that's going to be
00:54:02a tough one
00:54:03for many many years
00:54:05one of the most
00:54:05popular sporting shows
00:54:06in America
00:54:07was ABC
00:54:08Wide World of Sports
00:54:08and it's famous
00:54:09opening was
00:54:10the thrill of victory
00:54:11and the agony of defeat
00:54:12well I don't think
00:54:14I have seen
00:54:15in a long time
00:54:16a better picture
00:54:17that shows agony
00:54:18of defeat
00:54:18than the look
00:54:19in poor Brendan
00:54:20Hartley's eyes
00:54:21just moments ago
00:54:22we saw Michelle
00:54:24Gatting as well
00:54:25very red eyed
00:54:26in the Iron Dames
00:54:27garage
00:54:27when it seemed
00:54:28that they were
00:54:29going to lose
00:54:29that podium spot
00:54:31that they've been
00:54:31fighting so hard
00:54:33for for the last
00:54:34few years
00:54:35but just finishing
00:54:37this race
00:54:37you're a winner
00:54:38I know that sounds
00:54:39like you know
00:54:40it does sound
00:54:42trite
00:54:42but boy
00:54:43this is one of
00:54:44the toughest things
00:54:45you'll ever do
00:54:45in sport
00:54:46and I learned that
00:54:47the first time
00:54:48in 2000
00:54:49when
00:54:50my first time
00:54:52back
00:54:53since 1995
00:54:55and
00:54:56to see
00:54:58the teams
00:55:00that may have
00:55:00finished 5th
00:55:01or 6th
00:55:02but had
00:55:03fought back
00:55:04from great adversity
00:55:05or a crash
00:55:06to finish the race
00:55:07they were
00:55:08just as emotional
00:55:09and joyous
00:55:10at the end
00:55:10of the race
00:55:11is the winner
00:55:11I think
00:55:12it gets to that
00:55:13point
00:55:14doesn't it
00:55:14where if you're
00:55:15in contention
00:55:16for a win
00:55:16of course
00:55:17it's going to hurt
00:55:17but there's a point
00:55:18for many of these teams
00:55:19where the objective
00:55:20has become
00:55:21get it home
00:55:22last lap
00:55:23for the 2023
00:55:2524 hours
00:55:26of Le Mans
00:55:26Alessandra Pierre-Gridi
00:55:28on I'm sure
00:55:29will be
00:55:30a phenomenally
00:55:31emotional
00:55:32tour
00:55:32of the circuit
00:55:33de la Salle
00:55:3412.626
00:55:35kilometres
00:55:36to take it all
00:55:37the glory
00:55:39the headlines
00:55:40but most of all
00:55:41the win at this
00:55:42great race
00:55:43and what
00:55:44a race it has been
00:55:45in depth
00:55:46look at the tribunes
00:55:47absolutely rammed
00:55:49but how many of these
00:55:50cars have actually won
00:55:51Martin Avon
00:55:52bring them home
00:55:5224 hours ago
00:55:54everyone was a winner
00:55:55one of the busiest
00:55:57grids I've ever seen
00:55:58in motorsport
00:55:59and what looked like
00:56:00one of the most relaxed
00:56:02everybody
00:56:03excited
00:56:04just to start
00:56:06the centenary Le Mans
00:56:07to be part
00:56:09of a packed
00:56:10field of talent
00:56:11in GTEM
00:56:13in LMP2
00:56:14and especially
00:56:15in this burgeoning
00:56:17hypercar class
00:56:18and for everybody
00:56:20a capacity audience
00:56:21of more than
00:56:22300,000
00:56:23the celebrations
00:56:24that were built up
00:56:25to it
00:56:25it was just
00:56:26a big party
00:56:28waiting
00:56:28for the starting
00:56:30signal
00:56:30and 24 hours
00:56:32later
00:56:33quite incredible
00:56:35history
00:56:35is going to be
00:56:36written here
00:56:36again at Le Mans
00:56:38the last time
00:56:39a factory
00:56:40entered Ferrari
00:56:41raced in the
00:56:4224 hours
00:56:43it finished in
00:56:44second place
00:56:4550 years
00:56:46ago
00:56:4750 years
00:56:49later
00:56:49the team
00:56:50again started
00:56:51from pole position
00:56:52and they are on
00:56:53the final lap
00:56:54of this epic
00:56:56voyage
00:56:56the car
00:56:57rolled out
00:56:58the Fiorano
00:56:59less than 12 months

00:57:12formatting
00:57:13homologating
00:57:15the car
00:57:15and then bringing
