00:00What's up everybody, my name is Trey and welcome to another video.

00:04In this video, I'll be taking you step by step on what it takes to start a brand new

00:09YouTube channel.

00:10So regardless if you are a brand new creator or you're somebody who's been making content

00:15for a little bit, but you really want to start a new channel, maybe dedicated to a different

00:18niche, no worries, I got your back.

00:21So make sure you stay to end this video because at the end, we'll have a fully functioning

00:26YouTube channel to get you started on your YouTube journey.

00:30But before we get into the video, if you are somebody that's new to the channel, make

00:32sure you hit subscribe button, notification bell to be notified every time I post a video

00:35and leave a comment in the comment section down below.

00:37Do you currently have a YouTube channel?

00:39Because I would love to see what kind of content y'all are putting out.

00:41But to get this started, let's go ahead and jump into my computer and I'll show you the

00:45first steps that we have to do to get this channel started and off to the races.

00:50Now, the first thing you're going to want to do when it comes to making a brand new YouTube

00:54account is you're going to make a new Google account.

00:57And basically how you're going to do that, go to youtube.com.

00:59Once you're on the YouTube page, you're going to hit in the top right hand corner, sign in.

01:05Now, when you get to this page, if you don't have a Google account currently, you will see

01:10no other accounts listed that you can sign into or do anything like that.

01:14So you can either sign into an account that you already have or at the bottom it says create

01:18account.

01:19So create an account.

01:20And you have three different options when it comes to creating an account on Google.

01:23One is for my personal use, one is for my child, and the other one is for work or for my business.

01:30Now, when it comes to these options, there is a superior option in my opinion, and that's

01:35for work or for my business.

01:38And the reason is if you hit this option when it comes to creating your account, you're going

01:42to have a lot more leniency when it comes to the things that you can do on your account.

01:46So what I'm referring to is if you want other people to be able to manage your account, post

01:53content on your account, if you have a Google business account, you're able to allow those

01:59people to access into your YouTube account without actually sharing all of your information

02:03to those people.

02:05So if you go into a personal Google account, for instance, and I really want somebody to

02:09edit my tags for my YouTube video and they need to sign into my Google account, they actually

02:15have to take my Google information, my email and password, and sign into the account as

02:20me in order to edit it.

02:21So this makes it a lot easier, especially if you're somebody that plans on scaling your

02:25business and having editors and thumbnail designers and content CEO writers and stuff for you.

02:32So you want to make sure you hit this option because it will help out in the long run and

02:37really help you scale in the future.

02:38So now you're just going to go ahead and put in your information.

02:49On this next screen, you're actually going to put in your birthday and you put in your

02:53gender, or I guess you can leave a break.

02:55It's completely up to you.

02:57Now when we get to this next screen, it's use an existing email account.

03:00Like I said, this is kind of designed for you to start brand new.

03:03So what you're going to do is hit get a Gmail address instead, and you can come up with what

03:10username you think you might want.

03:12And that really is dependent on you.

03:14If you want to use your first and last name, you definitely can if it is available, or if

03:18you do have something for your business where you are Highway Media and that's the business

03:26that you run, you want it to match whatever that is.

03:33And then once you find an email that actually works for you, you will go to this next page

03:48and you will create a password.

03:51Make sure it's something that you can remember.

03:52Make sure you write it down.

03:53Make sure you have it as this password is going to be pretty important, so you want to

03:56make sure that you have it.

03:58On this next screen, you can add a recovery email, and I highly recommend you actually add

04:02this in here.

04:03So if anything goes wrong with your account, you get locked out, you forget your password,

04:06you can always send an email to yourself so you can get signed back in, and highly, highly

04:11recommend doing this because you'll be surprised.

04:13It happens more than you might think.

04:17Next, you're going to add your phone number.

04:18I, however, will not add my phone number because I don't want my phone number added on the 20

04:23different Google accounts that I have.

04:24So for right now, I am going to skip it.

04:26And then, voila, it asks you to review your account.

04:31So we have my name, and I have my email address that I just created with Google.

04:38Then you have their privacy terms and conditions.

04:42So feel free to read all that.

04:43And then at the bottom, go ahead and hit I agree.

04:46You're going to hit confirm.

04:48And then on the next screen, what you can actually do is hit not now.

04:54So basically, this is setting up your Google My Business profile.

04:58But since we are focusing on YouTube completely, we don't actually have to worry about setting

05:05up a Google profile for your My Business.

05:08So you're just going to hit not now.

05:11It will ask you if you want to upgrade your account, try some different trials and stuff.

05:14You can skip that for now.

05:18And then, voila, it will take us back to YouTube.

05:22You see in the top right-hand corner, it shows me, Trey Davis.

05:26And then it shows that we have a Gmail account that is connected to it.

05:30So the next step that you are going to do is simply hit create channel.

05:36And this is where you can set your name.

05:38You can set your handle.

05:39And you can set up everything related to your channel.

05:44You want to make sure it just makes sense.

05:46Obviously, you want to add a profile picture and do all of that.

05:49Hit start channel.

05:54And now your YouTube channel is created.

05:58However, that's not the last step.

05:59Because there is one big setting that you need to change if you really want to make YouTube

06:05successful in the future.

06:06So if you go to the top right-hand corner, click on your face.

06:11You want to go to YouTube Studio.

06:15You get a nice little welcome message.

06:17Love to see that.

06:19You're going to want to go down to setting.

06:21Under channel, you're going to hit feature eligibility.

06:27And this is what you're going to want to make sure that you do as soon as you set up your channel

06:30so that you have the features you need to actually be successful on your YouTube journey.

06:34So the first thing that you're going to come down here to do is verify your phone number.

06:38So when you type in your phone number, when you were creating your account, hit verify

06:41phone number.

06:42It's going to send you a text message in which you can get signed in.

06:44And now you'll be able to post videos that are longer than 15 minutes long, as well as

06:49create thumbnails and do live streaming, which, trust me, is very important.

06:52And you need to make sure you have that connected.

06:54And then under advanced features, you also want to make sure that you validate yourself

06:59through YouTube.

07:00So you can do that through video verification, sending in your ID to be verified, or simply

07:04having channel history, which normally takes about six months of consistent posting, to

07:09actually set up your YouTube account.

07:11And once you do that, you are completely set up and ready to go.

07:15Your YouTube account is created.

07:17Your features are enabled.

07:19So you can make longer than 15-minute videos.

07:21You can set custom thumbnails.

07:22And you can also live stream.

07:24So you have everything that you need to be successful on your YouTube journey.

07:28So now that your channel is all set up, let's say you want to make another YouTube channel.

07:34Maybe you created one.

07:35You're like, I really need it too, because I want one specifically to post crypto content.

07:39I want one specifically to teach people how to make amazing German food.

07:45So you're going to click your name at the top right-hand side.

07:48It should say name, channel.

07:50And you're going to go down to settings, in which you can create a new channel.

07:53You can go over your status and features of that channel to make sure that you're completely eligible and ready to go.

08:00You have everything you need to make sure that not only do you have one channel,

08:04but you have as many as you need to make sure you are setting yourself up for success.

08:09And I really hope you enjoyed this video.
