00:00McClellan on the 53 for South Africa on the inside of an NX2 machine. We're getting ready. Here we go
00:05Through the right-hand side middle the three, but it's Hunter Lawrence will go through in that green
00:12And Hunter Lawrence comes out in front
00:14Lawrence with a hole shot there, but Jan Pantzer in the blue and green for Slovenia. Geiser was already third in race one
00:20So this is a fantastic start for Slovenia as well and Lawrence getting duffed up here. He goes from first to third
00:26immediately as gifting
00:30Go through. I think that was for Sweden was it?
00:33Yeah, but but if you if we've watched anything with the Lawrence brothers over the year is that they're patient
00:38They don't just take a stab at him you watch
00:40Oh, even though as I say that he washes the front but does work himself right into first place. So what?
00:47Hunter Lawrence what an opening lap first to third back to the lead
00:51Pants are there in second position valentine guillo is in third place
00:54It's dosantos of brazil there who was a fast starter
00:56In fourth then evarts then juro of south africa shimoda in seventh place for japan renault bonacorsi
01:02Hampshire in 10th and cooper in 19th for the u.s
01:07So we'll get the math started as we hit the the line at the end of this lap because that's when we will start to get a
01:13True indication as to where people are riders are and teams are classified
01:17But it's lawrence who leads hunter lawrence they're from yan pantser of sleep
01:20Slovenia valentine guillo of sweden of switzerland and then
01:25Dosantos there in the blue and yellow
01:28On the number 39 and just behind him joe shimoda who was impressive yesterday in the open class qualifying race
01:34First time out on the 450 of course don't forget that but he's side by side with the rider in yellow liam evarts
01:41And rj hampshire all over the back of him the lead rider for the usa just here number six closest to us now in red
01:48Great start for the americans and rj hampshire is one of those riders that actually thrives when he comes from behind
01:54He loves to be the one chasing you know if you have your choice paul
01:57You're always going to take the whole shot when you can't so if you want to be anybody you want to be 100 more
02:01But right now we're seeing some of the guys jump that trip over the finish in some arm
02:04rj cased it really hard yesterday
02:07So that might be in the back of his mind if he's jumping in or not
02:10But as we see those guys joe shimoda and uh rj hampshire they're starting to work their way pick their way through the field
02:16So lawrence leads in three seconds clear leaving yan pantser and valentin guillo to fight over that second place at the moment
02:23For slovenia and for switzerland valio de santos of brazil still there in fourth place
02:29Although has he been caught past now by joe shimoda i saw the flash of red and white before i saw the blue and yellow
02:35But as we can see you can also see joe shimoda has worked up his worked his way to the top five and hampshire to seventh
02:40So those two riders are working their way up but they have a lot of great competition right in front of them
02:45And as the top five separate a little bit you can start to use more of the track
02:49You're not worried about getting taken out by the other guy as much when you're back uh seven through 15. Yeah shimoda has gone through
02:55Look there we see third rider in shot and then it should be evas and then dos santos and then hampshire
03:01Don't imagine it's going to take hampshire too long to find his way past the brazilian
03:05So uh shimoda now up in the fourth place
03:07But this battle here early on for second as hunter lawrence already out of the left-hander heading up the main hill in the middle
03:14But uh hunter lawrence here
03:19And we've got we're looking for the second australian rider in the inside
03:29Webster down again
03:33So that's why he's having to fight his way through traffic once again. He's now up in the 28th place in race one
03:38He managed to get himself back to 15. So you were hoping if you're australia to better that 15th place score because you have to drop your worst result
03:47Well paul you've been in this situation
03:49Sometimes i've they've used a seventh place for me and that was the decider in 1984
03:54So you can never give up you got to get up you got to keep fighting because maybe a 15th maybe a 16th might be the difference
04:00You don't know what the other team is doing every place is a single point
04:03So 16 places 16 points 15 it pulls a point back as we stand right now on this sort of second lap
04:10usa lead the way on 35 france on 42 australia on 46 because they've got a 1 15 a 29 and a 1
04:18To their scorecard all races count at this moment in time yes
04:21So that and that's and that's really really tough for webster because he had yet going down the first turn of both races
04:27That's what you don't want to be the weak link and it really wasn't his fault. It's just a it's a racing situation
04:34But fortunately for him it was right at the start of the race everybody's still bunched together
04:39It wasn't a big crash. It was a tip over you pick yourself up
04:42You go there's plenty of areas around this part of the racetrack on that opening lap where riders are bunched up
04:47You can inside outside second guess and make some quick passes and that's exactly what webster is doing
04:52He's now up in the 28th place, but he's still got a lot of time on screen
04:56He's got a lot of passes to make as well
04:58If he's to better that 15th from race one to hopefully have that 15th place go away at the end of the weekend
05:04Well, we saw again and uh go out the last lap so you you mechanicals happen
05:10So you got to make sure that you keep charging
05:1237th place for the number 47 the belgian of sasha kunin in race one on this
05:18Uphill climb through the right-hander. He and justin cooper fell
05:21Sasha couldn't wasn't able to re-emerge into the race
05:24He was classified as 20th, but he was sixth in the main race the first mx2 rider and uh that's conrad muse going down
05:32So conrad muse having issues muse was in 26 position. So muse out as well
05:42But he in terms of sasha kunin managed to pick himself up
05:45In 10th looked like it was going to be a fourth place finish for him as a class rider
05:49But belgian were leaving the classification at that point
05:51And then when he wasn't able to cross the line and get classified with that 20th position all of a sudden we see
05:57Uh heading into the start of this race the usa and france on top with australia third and belgian fourth
06:03But that changing already in the early stages of race two so what is it paul in the air with the with the brothers right now?
06:09So you got the good brothers from belgium and you got the lawrence brothers and you know the kind of rumor is hey
06:14The lawrence brothers can do it
06:15Maybe we can be the next generation of two brothers at the same time being up front. I think it's just uh
06:20Circumstantial coincidental that you've got two brothers again arriving. We've also got it from latvia with the racialist brothers
06:26uh carlis riding the mxgp class yanis who was the 250 european champion this year and 125 european champion two years ago
06:33uh he's running the mx2 category here today and uh
06:38From that you know there are five sets of brothers in this uh nations this weekend from all over the world
06:42That's what i'm saying and right now and now is the time it seems that the two brothers growing up together pushing each other and
06:48Getting them faster and faster. It's pretty awesome. I grew up with a sister that was older than me
06:52So I didn't have that same drive. I just had a lot of competition
06:56So with 23 minutes to go hunter lawrence leads pence and guillo
07:00Lawrence with the fastest lap of the race 203.1 compared to a 2044 he's extending his lead to almost six seconds over jan pence and slovenia
07:16Here's liam evitz for belgium. He is in sixth place riding a 450 in this event normally rides a 250 at home
07:22But he is uh in that sixth place doing what he can for belgium belgium still fourth at the moment with their own 41 points
07:36In race one when we look at lap times 203.145 for hunter lawrence jet was a 201.3 in race one
07:43So uh already the track has gone away by a couple seconds because jet lawrence's time was uh posted on lap four
07:49So only a couple laps from now. So and that first race was a 16 lapper so in that respect
07:55It looks like honours right on pace
07:57So so I would say that the track has definitely slowed down two seconds because of the world because you can't do the
08:03Throttle response coming off the corners and how deep the ruts are and how fast you can blitz through the different works ruts are getting deeper
08:10braking bumps are getting bigger
08:12the uh
08:13uncertainty here's uh sasha kuner
08:15Not having and also he would have been uh in uh sort of secondary start position if you like they would have put
08:24I would imagine
08:26Liam evans as the 450 guy in prime place because look at the amount of open class riders the first nine riders
08:33Well actually it was 10 but justin cooper has now moved in tonight as he finds his way past the brazilian
08:38Fabio de santos here is jay koop on the number five machine for team usa
08:43So we got yeah, sorry hampshire in third cooper in ninth
08:47So so koops definitely picked up from yesterday because uh
08:50Kunin and de wolf had an unbelievable race going back and forth and very very tight all the longer it seemed like cooper couldn't do anything with
08:57But today he seems to have the pace he has to walk behind him by a couple couple bikes and he's got to keep pushing that forward once again
09:04Every point counts in this range is it's it's different because it's a championship event. It's not a championship
09:11You're not you're not collecting points over the year. Yeah, it's like a tournament
09:15You know like you would have as a tennis tournament the golf tournament set one weekend only deal
09:20And uh you have to be right in the very top of your game
09:23And sometimes that's hard on on riders ego to think i'm racing for 15th place
09:28But i have to put as much energy into that as it is for first place well you look at someone like kai de wolf
09:33He's in 12th he is the second best mx2 rider
09:38But three positions behind
09:40Justin cooper of the usa
09:42So on that basis
09:44You know you're
09:46Yeah, you're doing okay for your your team your country
09:48But you are still 12th position in the race hunter lawrence leads pants the second hampshire third shimota four
09:53Geo evans renault bonacorsi cooper and fabio de santos of brazil we've got jonas of latvia in 11th the wolf the netherlands 12
10:00His teammate valandran behind him about a second further back
10:04But as we drop on to uh
10:06This plateau here the 24 of bonacorsi in eighth with cooper behind him in ninth place for team usa
10:12And i think you're right uh ricky johnson where you say as the weekend has gone on chad reed said the same in the first race
10:19The more he's on the bike the more that memory muscle is coming back and he's getting used to being back on the 250
10:24And all those sort of instinctive reactions are coming back
10:28For uh justin cooper who we know was a very good 250 rider and uh with 19 and a half minutes to go here
10:34He is lining up a pass for eight
10:36well and and
10:38And there where i want to make a point is that joe shimota is the same way he's learning to ride the bike you watch these two riders
10:43I think they're you know faster and faster as they go because they're going to learn the little ways of bringing power out of where joe's
10:48Going to be rolling on the throttle bar using the torque using the horsepower where where justin's going
10:53I got to kill the entry and I got to carry a lot of speed through the middle just looking at uh
10:58francesco garcia in 14th place for spain a loss of 13 positions for leaving the track gaining an advantage
11:05That's going to be 13 points spain currently sitting sixth at the moment, so that is not ideal for spain
11:10And these are the kind of things that also affect the outcome these penalties these loss of points
11:15And whatever it is gaining a track passing on waved yellows or medicals
11:19Not paying attention generally well, and I mean there's so much happening
11:23You can see there's a lot of shadows a lot of colors a lot of things like that
11:26So the rider has to be very very sharp, but oh you've been at that level you've been at the top level
11:30You know what it's like when you're out there you see everything and here we see the wolf now catching cooper
11:34So here we got another race for the for the mx2 coming on coming on right now
11:39Yeah, and this obviously for kyda wolf he's going to go to the inside
11:43Try and take the shortest route around that turn does gets out of there side by side with justin cooper and uh closes him down immediately
11:50And this should have been a hayden deegan kyda wolf battle
11:53But with deegan breaking his collarbone and deemed not fit to ride on tuesday just days before this race
11:59His star racing yamaha counterpart in the 450 category now stepping down to 250
12:04Riding his bike kyda wolf just going past the number five
12:07I don't think we've seen the last of these two battling in the this second race at the moment
12:11No, I think that's going to motivate uh because when you you have a 450 past you it's one thing
12:16But now you know that guy's in my class. I have to beat him and that's the guy that I needed to to win to get that individual goal
12:23um cooper won the individual gold at 250
12:26You know at redbud a few years back and so that's he's going to want to get that again
12:30Well the best uh 250 rider in uh the first race was kyda wolf
12:36Justin cooper was third behind valand and valand at the moment in this race down in 16th
12:41So the uh the mx2 class win is going to be between kyda wolf and justin cooper as it stands right now
12:47Hunter lawrence eight seconds clear brother jet was victorious by seven seconds in race one
12:53and we've still got 17 minutes to go plus two laps well in watching uh both the lawrence brothers are
13:00very creative with their line selection a lot they remind me a lot of stefan everts you know where
13:06i think they see the track different than everybody and they don't worry about i got to stay in this line
13:10i can crisscross here i can do a lot of creative things and then also when you have your brother
13:14that dominated the first race he could tell you those little lines those little shortcuts and things
13:18that that he that he did so um kudos for them to be able to work together like that so
13:23the netherlands calvin valandran goes past the latvian oh paul's jonas but that small fry really
13:30in the great scheme of things calvin valandran telling me this morning that they're not really
13:33in it to win it now because of the the lack of one of their riders four scores doesn't really get
13:38you classified you need both all three riders going out to get six scores be able to drop your
13:43worst but as it is they're going to have only four and uh that's not great for the netherlands same
13:49with germany in fact because uh netherlands 18th in the classification germany 19th so a very very
13:54long weekend long trip to get here for that kind of result but uh we're getting ready to go down to
13:59pit lane with lisa leyland uh here she is down there in pit lane yes i'm just with gautier poland team
14:08manager of team france um gautier france currently third in the general classifications you've got a
14:15race and a half to go what can you guys do at this stage of the game i mean matiz have been delivering
14:21an excellent first moto he's a young kid and he really gives it all right now he's on a 15 but i
14:27know he got past he's on 16th position uh romand a little crash and we expect a little more from
14:32maxime to deliver more right now and pass minimum guillo and and everts and then we keep on going we know
14:39that at one of the nation we still have we need to get it going until the last moto and every points are
14:43really important that's a lot thank you rj hampshire joe shimoda have both gone past yan pants so there
14:50was a lot of roaring in the uh pit lane area there just a moment ago so hampshire now up in a second
14:55here's hunter lawrence did something happen to him as well yeah he went down so it might have been that
15:00so that's why he had a seven second advantage or now it's out to 10 but he's obviously made a mistake
15:06that's what it was as he crossed the line 10 seconds but he's lost some time so as we were doing the
15:10interview we heard all the crowd reaction i thought it was for hampshire and shimoda moving into second
15:15and third for uh the usa and japan and pants are going down into fourth place but for hunter lawrence
15:20a rare little mistake just folding the front rejoining the start straight just at the end of pit lane
15:25that overt spiked the heart rate just a little bit but it's also a little worn inside a kick at the
15:30backside just stay focused yeah stay on track and it's sometimes hard when you're not going to keep
15:35reference you paul you've been out in front you know what it's like to have a big sometimes you
15:38start thinking about the finish or thinking about the next moto you can't do that you got to stay
15:43present all the time and this track is getting pretty slick right now it's not i think it's a
15:47great oh rj hampshire down take it paul rj makes a mistake that is coming down from what used to be
15:53godzilla coming out of that top right hand turn so out of second position re-emerges behind evidson fifth
15:59so uh hampshire out of second did all the hard work to get there so he's gonna have to regroup
16:06so from second to fifth here's how he did it was it just a stall or did he just get cross-rutted
16:15yeah just uh getting wrong there and also shimoda had nowhere to go gave him a bit of a love tap
16:20on the way through maybe not quite so shimoda out of second he re-emerges in fifth place so
16:27uh so uh rj hampshire with a lot to do but it's lawrence who leads away from shimoda pantser evans
16:33and rj hampshire usa still in the driving seat though
16:44the big question then for rj hampshire is how can he quickly delete that from his mind and go back
16:50after the riders in front of him can he get back to that second third fourth position he's currently in
16:55fifth as it stands right now four seconds down and that will motivate him to go but how ironic that
17:01joe shimoda from japan who came over and won the championship from uh he had the controversy with
17:08hayden deegan and then now he's right in the mix this could be valuable points that we're losing so
17:13he's got to chase him back down and get those points back yeah a few seconds further back maximo
17:17france and it's france who's third in the overall classification at the moment and what that's done
17:22has brought everybody closer together as well usa now on 30 australia 33 france on 35 it's a five
17:28point game at the top of this chamberlain trophy this motocross nations fourth is belgium with 54 but
17:33they can drop a 28 uh usa can drop 11 as it stands right now australia can drop 16 that is an impressive
17:40ride for uh webster he's up into 16 with 12 minutes plus two to go so he will be looking to drop that 15
17:47from race one every point from here on out is a bonus for them and in the way the pace that he's got
17:52going right now and that the level of rider in open is not the same level as msgp so he's going to be able
17:58to make those passes on some of the uh big bikes the 500s and their 450s but you know what i'm saying
18:03the open class guys so he should as you said make it up close to the top 10. andrea bonacorsi here 14
18:10italy still in seventh he's got maxime bruno behind ahead of him for france on the number 15 yamaha
18:16these two fighting uh quite regularly in the mxgp world championship and this one for national pride
18:21of course france versus italy well and i've noticed that a lot when i was in you know over in europe is
18:28that there was a lot more rivals of the of the countries that are close because you race against
18:32the guy multiple times and a lot of times the rivalries are the hardest of the riders inside each
18:36one so take another look at rj hampshire as he comes around yeah just a super slow-mo that's
18:41around that gopro uh turn just outside one of the hospitality villages there saw it with tim geister
18:47in race one just losing the front and then the back coming around and then catching the wrong side of
18:51the the rut and then pitching him offline on the descent very easy to mistake to make but also just
18:56highlighting you've got the best riders in the world and when they're making those kind of mistakes
19:01as well just goes to show a how technical the track is b how hard they're pushing well and also we've
19:06saw hunter lawrence lose the front wheel swapping on the second on the first lap uh he lost the front
19:11wheel and then losing the front wheel again so we've seen the track is getting hard and slick so
19:15it's very tacky where it's tacky very slick where it's slick so the guys are really got to pay attention
19:20to where they go from brake to throttle battle going on here as we hit the line mattis clannan and kyle
19:27webster these two fighting over 14th and 15th place you know what this has been a great ride for the
19:33australian two times he's been down in the deck in turn one going in coming out still got some work
19:39to do but looking good at the moment
19:4410 minutes plus two laps to go thereabouts kyle webster all over the back of the frenchman
19:48maxis clannan really digging in deep riding on instinct having fell on the exit of turn one at the
19:53start of the race he knows every point counts having been in this position last year when australia
19:58were victorious for the first time at massively base in great britain and uh he does not want to
20:03be the guy that lets the team down nobody wants to be in that position but if he can improve on that
20:0815th from race one every point is a bonus he's in 15th at the moment in this second race but he's got
20:14valant right there ahead of him and francesco garcia of spain garcia has a time penalty or a position
20:20penalty of 13 places so both these guys are going to move up adamo is just a few seconds further at the
20:26track three seconds further up the track in fact that's him coming downhill now so i'm not sure
20:30whether webb still be able to close in on the former world champion but he's definitely got two
20:34riders ahead of him here that can help australia's cause when all is said and done well and he
20:39definitely has to hold his head high because he's done an unbelievable ride in both events but as i say
20:45coming from being on the ground both times eating that much roost and then also trying to find your
20:50way around on the smaller bike always makes it more difficult just looking at the timing score
20:56and evitz and hampshire separated by about a half a second hampshire goes by moves into fourth position
21:02evitz down into fifth then so another point another position gain for the american rj hampshire after
21:07he made that mistake two uh two laps ago he's back on the charge he's less than a second behind jan panzer
21:13here is rj hampshire and there is the slovenian ahead of him in third place
21:17let's have another look at the start then shall we and why certain things are the way they are i guess
21:30so hunter lawrence in the middle evitz around the outside then just watch coming out of the inside
21:37of the turn now two riders go down one of those was uh kyle webster but this is the part that's
21:42interesting watch lawrence very patient but he gets passed by two three guys but then here is
21:48webster on the ground stock as we take another look at it as they as they go in you see hunter there as
21:54he comes in very safe in the middle but then opens it up but he gets really tight on the inside just
21:59looking to see who the other guy was there on that that yamaha that went down well and when i when i walked
22:06the track before the race i thought you know what if i think i'm going to get a whole shot i'm going to go to
22:10the middle on the inside boxes and if i don't think i'm going to be able to make it around i want
22:14to get to the outside so i can carry some more speed around and just stay away from trouble in
22:19that first turn but that's also the advantage of having the first or second gate pick you can say
22:23right the best place to start the safest place is going to be either middle left or either side of
22:28the doghouse where you can rely on people at the inside just backing it off to hold a tight line
22:32you can carry more momentum that's what jet lawrence did in race one hunter lawrence started a few
22:36positions down from him i think and came away with the pretty much same result but too hesitant
22:41through turns two and three got swamped immediately but he didn't waste any time trying to get back to
22:46the lead and he's led now for the majority of the race 11 seconds almost his lead over joe shimoda
22:50been really impressed right now with with rj hampshire as he's working different lines notice he's not
22:56going uh just following the rider in front of him he's using inside outsides well there he got kind of
23:01pinched now will he be see i don't think he's gonna be able to clear the triple at this point
23:05neither of them do 10 laps complete hunter lawrence 11 seconds clear of joe shimoda of japan and pantser
23:13is third but for how much longer because as we just saw a moment ago hampshire closing all all over the
23:18back of him evans has been dropped by about 2.2 seconds as it stands right now in the overall classification
23:24usa on 28 australia on 31 france 35 belgium 50 spain on 56 there's some big scores to be dropped
23:33hopefully in the last race as uh scores come down and improve it's also the best race of the day
23:39isn't it two 450 riders per race so it's a big 450 race that final one for the most part anyway maybe
23:45there's an open class rider on the 350 or something like that but who knows but webster's worked his
23:50way up to 14 so he is continuing his march uh my hat is off to this young man he's had to battle his
23:56way through both events and then you're also on the smaller bikes so you're you're you're dealt a
24:00handicap right from the beginning he did come over here and had some great showings in america so
24:05we're gonna see more out of webster after this for sure but uh right now he's doing exactly what he needs
24:10to do and just keep picking those guys off the rider ahead of carl webster is a spaniard francesco
24:15garcia normally rides on a 250 in the european championship so stepping up to the open class
24:19on a 450 is a big lad anyway and a strong lad fit as well but here he is unaware probably that he's got
24:25a 13th place penalty for uh gaining an advantage leaving the track and gaining an advantage is what
24:33it is on the screen so all of a sudden webster will gain another place so will valand and uh the guys
24:38behind him par up in 16th racially 17 speeds of germany and we've got way jellos out there in the
24:43background who was that so somebody down already yes it went down off to the side but but when we
24:49watched the start i think that he went to the inside he went off the course went around the inside he
24:53avoided the crash but still getting penalized that much is going to hurt him and i don't think he
24:57knows it yet because it's really hard to identify that oh yeah that was the uh yeah that we saw a
25:04moment ago and now they're obviously waived so it's uh one of the norwegian riders
25:15so it's either fellow gunderson 50 or huck and frederickson i think it was the gunderson
25:20process of elimination because huck and frederickson normally riding on a yamaha so unless they've just
25:24completely whited all their motorcycles but there is the two of webster here is rj hampshire still not
25:31ever find his way past jan panzer jan panzer is a privateer in the very essence of the word because
25:39turns up in a small camper with a trailer on the back very small trailer mum and dad as team boss and
25:44mechanic does all the deals themselves they go to every round of mxgp they pay their own way yes
25:49they get paid in terms of sponsors and bonuses things like that but they come here as part of
25:54team slovenia and when you see him a privateer in third position in the biggest race on earth
26:01that is pretty impressive and uh sure he and tim geyser will be absolutely over the moon they're
26:06equaling their best at the moment seventh overall but they can drop a 33 from their mx2 rider jaka
26:13pakalai from race one and the wolf has worked his way up to eight so he's got two he's got a runner
26:19in between him right now um between him and cooper so he's in a very good spot for the team so carl
26:25webster still cracking on but so too hunter lawrence he's in control shimoda second panzer hampshire and
26:31evans your top five
26:32so hunter lawrence three and a half minutes plus two laps to go just like younger brother jet lawrence
26:46in race one leading every lap of the race so far jet lawrence 16 laps in race one
26:53cross the line seven seconds clear hunter lawrence even more dominant 10.6 so not sure how much jet was
26:58holding back because there was never really a threat from lucas kunan as much as the belgian
27:04in his rookie season in mxgp is impressed never really got close enough once jet made that move
27:09around the outside put some distance between him very very quickly and then from there it was pretty
27:14much settled in that respect something that isn't settled is this battle preferred panzer and hampshire
27:20hampshire going the long way around the outside oh gets stood up over the wall jump that would have
27:25cost him a little bit of time looking keeps looking back i was going to point that oh he runs into the
27:30back of him oh that's two for rj so tough break evans goes back around the outside loses another position
27:36he gains it loses it again just coming to the inside panzer stopped i don't think it was an initial uh
27:42intentional break check but that's exactly how it worked out rj was on the inside panzer stopped
27:47rj into the back wheel and down he goes so hard tough tough break as you said he loses that spot
27:53to everett's again so let's see if he can get that spot back a lot of work for rj hampshire in this
27:58photo yeah he just had that one moment through the finish line area over the wall jump but you
28:01already saw going down the straight that uh yan panzer was looking across like i think just to sort
28:06of see where hampshire was and then maybe he wasn't anticipating panzer to slow up as much he was he was
28:11probably thinking to cut back yeah but that was it here we go watch he tries to cut back here's up the corner
28:18well just looks like he got cross-rutted and then mistimed it all yeah but as i said it didn't look
28:24like an intentional i'm looking back break check like you see sometimes like kind of what happened
28:29in las vegas a couple weeks ago really i must have missed that one yeah you were the only one person
28:35in the world that missed that one well i heard that joe doesn't speak english exactly joe didn't
28:40understand what he meant uh but no that was a tough break for rj i don't think it was intentional just
28:44already thought well i'll shoot underneath it the panzer came in stopped because it was coming
28:48down the inside it's sasha kunin the belgian where is he up to now he's into 23rd still trying to
28:55claw back some points for belgium 23rd in this second race they got a 20 in race one
29:03that was because sasha kunin here with the bike expiring so the two twin brothers
29:10at the nations for the first time 14 belgium it was looking so good belgium were leading the
29:14classification then all of a sudden they drop positions and now they're on the fringe of the
29:19podium but they know they've got some big scores to drop as well so thank you go so with the ricky
29:24carmichael rookie award did they get to share it because they're twins that would be the first
29:30i know but i think it'd be pretty ironic to give it both of them
29:33owski gameplay noun
29:39leon evance with about 30 seconds to go hunter laurent's picking himself up
29:48did he just have a moment there lawrence the number three i was gonna say ever is up to fourth
29:54hampshire down to fifth because of what happened a lap ago at the end of pit lane when the two riders just
29:59Just touched wheels, Hampshire went down, lost that fourth and potential third.
30:04But Hunter Lawrence, just a little erratic, one or two little mistakes, which you don't normally see.
30:09Are we going to see some different tires, something a little bit more of a hard pack?
30:12I know the guys are going for the paddle tire because they want the start,
30:15but is it starting to tack up to where we're going to see more, I want to say,
30:18of an intermediate-type tire to help these guys get more traction?
30:21Because we've seen a lot of riders losing that front wheel.
30:25I know in Europe they prefer a paddle tire when you've got conditions that are a mix of
30:29if it's not completely hard pack, just because the paddle tires are now so, yeah, just picking himself up.
30:34Look, the paddle tire is so, so good now across the board.
30:38But Hunter Lawrence rejoining the race, he had about an 11-second advantage.
30:43Shimoda, not close enough to make any kind of threat on him.
30:48That's Shimoda at the top of the hill now, so that's going to be down to around about 7 seconds, I would imagine.
30:537 or 8, as you see, over the Monster Bridge now, and then this corner here, that's Shimoda.
30:59So maybe not even 11, not even 7 seconds, I would imagine.
31:07But the two-lap board will go out this time around for HJ, Hunter Lawrence.
31:13Well, I think the problem that the guys are having, Paul, is the shadows.
31:16The shadows, you notice the shadows from the trees and then the different shades of the dirt,
31:20and then so that you go to trust the dirt, and then the wheel pulls away from you.
31:25So this is a very tricky track, but what I do like is that I'm seeing multiple lines.
31:29Guys aren't just sticking right behind another rider.
31:32RJ Hampshire back up the inside of Evans, regains that fourth position with two to go.
31:38And the gap between Panza and Hampshire, only 2.6 seconds.
31:45So Panza's lap time last time around was a 2.08.5, Hampshire 2.06.
31:50I can see RJ pushing right the way to the end.
31:53It might be a grand finale finish.
31:56It could be checkers or wreckers, but there's a thing that we have in stock car racing.
32:00There he is, just out of the corner as well.
32:02So you see the green and blue any moment now.
32:04That is the target back in third position for RJ Hampshire.
32:08And the way that he's looking at the moment, he looks like he's got plenty left in the tank.
32:12And that's the thing about RJ.
32:13He will go all the way until the end.
32:16I mean, he's one of those riders that, you know, a lot of times when riders go from 250 to 450,
32:20you see him crashing a lot, having a lot of trouble.
32:22He adapted, and he seems to ride better with the more horsepower and the more torque than some of the other riders.
32:27He had more crashes on the 250 than he does on the 450.
32:31So Lawrence leading the way then.
32:32Shimoda, that gap down to 4.3.
32:34That's how expensive it was.
32:35It was about a seven or eight second fall.
32:39Meanwhile, Carl Webster, he is in 14th position.
32:44And that brings Australia and USA just two points apart.
32:48Australia, 31.
32:50USA, 29.
32:51Two points clear.
32:53This one not over until it's over.
32:55But look at the scores that they can throw away.
32:57USA can throw away 11.
32:58Australia can throw away a 15.
33:01That's where you see the level of.
33:02France can throw away 15.
33:03And they're on 35 points.
33:04So three teams really mathematically in with the shot as we head into the final race.
33:08And anything can happen.
33:10And now you have Australia's nothing.
33:12Oh, RJ down again.
33:14RJ Hampshire down one more time.
33:15Turn 13 where he had that mistake earlier.
33:18That's going to be points back for Australia.
33:21Are we going to be even, Stephen, going into the final race?
33:24Bonacorsi goes through.
33:25So he's gone from fourth to seventh position on the final, on the penultimate lap.
33:32RJ, wheels just starting to fall off.
33:34Maybe just pushing too hard.
33:36Well, he's got to calm down because he's got to get to that finish line and not lose any more spots.
33:40He also has to give him, make sure that he's healthy for the last round.
33:43So it's a short, it's a short distance.
33:45He's got the two motors back to back.
33:47So where the guys in the MXGP got all that time to rest.
33:51Bonacorsi, not an easy rider to pass either.
33:53The big Italian.
33:55Watch this.
33:56Same part of the racetrack.
33:57Back's going to go around on him again.
33:58This time, headbutts the handlebars and throws him down on the shoulder.
34:02Looking not to get away with a shoulder injury there as well because he was dragging and pulling that shoulder.
34:07Could have come out of the socket right there, but it didn't.
34:08But everybody seems to be losing that front wheel.
34:11The front wheel seems to be tucking on the exit as they start to roll on the power.
34:14It brings power to the back of the bike.
34:16It gets the front light.
34:17And that's where we've seen Hunter crash.
34:19We've seen RJ crash a couple different times.
34:21So this track is very, very technical right now.
34:25Everts, Belgium gain a point as a result of that.
34:27France gain a point, crucially.
34:29Italy gain a point, but they are in six with a lot more points to sort of drop, if you like.
34:34Hampshire losing three for America.
34:37How much will that cost?
34:39Because USA and Australia now have switched.
34:42Look, Australia on 31, USA on 32, and France on 34.
34:48It is game on.
34:49Probably the closest nations we've had going into the final race in a very long time.
34:53But that's what I love about this event.
34:55I've been fortunate to be on very strong teams, and we had a pretty good pad going into it, going into the final round.
35:02But this is one of those things, with all the 500s trying to get to that first turn first, it is going to be very crucial to exit that first turn in one piece with the last moto.
35:11So Hunter Lawrence then in control on this final lap.
35:15Just a handful of corners to go for the Australian.
35:18Shimoda for Japan second.
35:19Pantsar for Slovenia third.
35:21Everts, Belgium fourth.
35:22Renault, France fifth.
35:23Bonacorsi, Italy sixth.
35:24Hampshire all over the back of him.
35:25That position could change on the final lap.
35:27De Waal, the first MX2 rider, and he's probably going to be the MX2 class winner as well, with the lowest score in both of those races.
35:34For Lander and for the Netherlands, nine.
35:36Jonas ten, but it's going to be a race win for Hunter Lawrence, as he wins race two, and Australia go to the top of the standings after two races, and with one race to go.
35:48USA are second, France are third, and there is not a lot in it, with just another 30 plus two remaining.
35:57Here is RJ Hampshire.
35:59Did he find his way past Bonacorsi?
36:00No, he didn't, so it's going to be Australia and USA going into the final race just one point apart, and that is telling as well.
36:09Hampshire's going to be kicking himself when he goes back because he's going to feel that it was him that's let the team down at this moment, but with a race to go, you still don't know how it's going to turn out.
36:18And when we watched RJ on that last turn, same thing, almost crashing on the exit, so I think they've got to do some chassis adjustment, raise that back up a little bit so it's not squatting so bad.
36:26So, everything to play for, but it's Australia who lead.
36:32We'll go down to talk to our race winner from Australia, Hunter Lawrence, in just a few moments' time.
36:47But before we do, RJ, Ricky Johnson, great display of riding, but at the same time, it was not straightforward for Hunter Lawrence.
36:57No, it wasn't, he had some trouble, we haven't seen him have that kind of, I'm not going to say brain fade, this track is really getting these guys, it's a great combination, to me it's more like old school, like when we used to ride, where the track is not real deep, it's not just.
