00:00Billionaire former Prime Minister Andrei Babish is set to return to power in Chechya after
00:06his Anno movement won the parliamentary election with around 35% of the vote.
00:13With nearly all ballots counted, Babish's party defeated the pro-Western coalition of
00:18Prime Minister Petra Fiala, which trailed with around 23% of the vote.
00:23The former Prime Minister will need a partner to form a government and could turn to the
00:29far-right or anti-migrant parties, which together won around 15% of the ballot.
00:37His victory is likely to align Chechya more closely with Hungary's Viktor Orban and Slovakia's
00:43Robert Fito on EU sanctions on Russia and military aid to Ukraine.
00:49During his campaign, Babish questioned support for Kyiv and pledged cheaper energy, higher
00:55pensions and a focus on domestic issues.
