00:00How could he have trick-or-treated the death? The night just started.
00:03Here's your spooky spot on the neck of Ben Cooper Halloween II,
00:06Michael Myers' action figure with costume and mask.
00:30The Ben Cooper Costume Kids collection is back with Series 9,
00:35bringing a fresh batch of spooky trick-or-treaters to your shelf.
00:38Based on the licensed kid costumes from one of the largest Halloween costume manufacturers of the 1950s to 80s,
00:43these fully poseable 6-inch figures perfectly capture the vintage charm of the looks from the era.
00:49The Wave features NECA's original designs in the style of Ben Cooper costumes as if they were produced today,
00:54reimagining the legendary horror villains.
00:57Wearing a mask and soft goods clothing, replicating the vinyl looks of the classic costumes,
01:02each frightful figure comes complete with movie-specific trick-or-treating bag or pumpkin bucket accessory.
01:08I think when the old man at Silver Shamrock said we'd be making other masks,
01:11we all assumed it would be different molds.
01:13We never thought it'd be different shapes.
01:16Before that, we get a closer look at the Ben Cooper-designed Michael Myers.
01:20Let's take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:23Then I'm sure we will be joined by other trick-or-treaters in a moment.
01:26But first things first, let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
01:29The tape measure first is going to tell us that Myers stands at 5 1⁄4 inches or 5 3⁄4 of an inch in height.
01:35That's going to work out to be a figure that's 14 centimeters tall.
01:38Joining us now to go door-to-doors, the previously looked at Ben Cooper Texas Chainsaw Massacre Leatherface.
01:44And in the review of the Leatherface, we had brought in also the trick-or-treaters from Halloween 3, Season of the Witch.
01:49So let's bring those all in right now.
01:51There's the jack-o'-lantern, there's the skeleton, and up front and center, there's the witch, who always seemed to be a harder one to stand.
01:58And even though it's not a retro-cloth figure, it probably would have made better sense to do that.
02:01I also want to bring in one that knows a little bit about going door-to-door, not collecting candy, but collecting lives.
02:06Here's what the figure looks like with the ultimate Halloween 2, Michael Myers.
02:09Crap job of showing you this in the review of Leatherface.
02:12But to bring back in the box here for the Ben Cooper Michael Myers, one thing I do think that's kind of cool about this.
02:17Yes, there is the window that Michael is always staring at.
02:19What exactly is he looking at? I really don't know.
02:21But the box itself does look like something you'd expect to see in the late 70s and early 80s.
02:27Ben Cooper, of course, represented at the top corner.
02:29Preparation to this review, I had gone back and watched the Ben Cooper documentary, which is currently over on Tubi.
02:34If you want to see the documentary on Ben Cooper, it's currently free.
02:37It's currently on Tubi. No, I have no sponsorships with Tubi.
02:41One thing I also really like about the box is it's recommended for 5'5'' tall characters.
02:46I think that's kind of cool.
02:47But the box, we'll move it off to the side here, and let's look at the accessory that come included with Michael.
02:51Now, when we did look at Leatherface, Leatherface came included with the gift bag.
02:55The trick-or-treating bag, of course, he can go door-to-door.
02:58The bag, truth be told, though, I don't think it would really be able to hold much.
03:01Serving up a human head inside the bag, there's no way a bag like this would be able to carry that.
03:06Although, I've got to say, like, the strength of the bags are still pretty good on these.
03:10Michael Myers, though, does not come included with a gift bag.
03:13Aww.
03:14But what he does have, though, hold on, hold your frowns for right now.
03:17The figure does have, instead of that, the poster art Halloween 2 Skeleton, or Skell Jack-O-Lantern, which is really super cool.
03:26There is technically still a place to store things inside.
03:29A candle?
03:30Another human head?
03:31Why are we on the topic of human heads right now?
03:33I'm sure, though, you could find yourself candies small enough to sit inside the tiny little plastic bucket that comes included with Michael Myers.
03:42Pumpkin does look good.
03:43I would have liked if it could have been a little bit brighter.
03:45I mean, again, like, this is supposed to be a kid's costume.
03:47Kids love bright colors.
03:49At least my kid does.
03:50So I would think, though, that making this a brighter orange would have worked a little bit better than the dingier, darker orange that we get treated to instead.
03:56Now, he does have gripping hands on the ends of his forearms.
04:00Thank you for noticing that, by the way.
04:01The figure does have, then, based on that, means to hold the pumpkin.
04:05You can just simply bend the elbows, twist the hands, and you just take yourself the handle of the jack-o-lantern and fit that in between his grip.
04:13I will say, though, the grip is kind of hard to get in there.
04:15You have to kind of get it around his thumb.
04:17But after that, he succeeds enough, providing, of course, he doesn't drop his other hand.
04:20Let's get that hand back in there.
04:21And then he'd sure be fine to hold the pumpkin, the jack-o-lantern, to go door-to-door with.
04:27I always seem to have one issue with this hand always falling out.
04:30Let's hope it stays for the rest of this review.
04:32I really like the look of that quite a bit.
04:34Yes, it's a little bit of a bummer that they don't all stay consistent.
04:38But kind of the idea is cool.
04:39The idea that they would swap around and change out the different things that they go to door-to-door, collecting candies.
04:45As for the actual container for candies, let's just take that out of his hand for right now and move it off to the side.
04:50And get a closer look at Michael Myers, the shape.
04:54What a cool shape he is.
04:56Now, thinking, though, it was the exact same shape as Leatherface we looked at before, it is not.
05:01You can see, though, that it's a different hair sculpt altogether.
05:04So his hair is a little finer.
05:06This hair is a little bit longer.
05:07And maybe, well, a little longer and easier to comb.
05:10The skin color is also considerably different between the two figures.
05:14While I'm sure, though, clearly you can see that they are using the exact same bodies.
05:17It's, though, just between changing out the different head styles and the skin tones of the characters,
05:23you can at least have the characters look different from one another.
05:26If these all look the same skin color, I think it would kind of lose a little bit of the appeal.
05:30Different kids would wear different costumes.
05:32So I like that every kid is being represented here.
05:35There is, though, a string represented on the back, but it's only suggestively sculpted there.
05:41You can see that it's been tied off on the back.
05:43In fact, this would be a Velcro, or Velcro, this would be an elastic strap wrapped around the back of the head to keep the mask on.
05:49The mask is not removable like it was with Leatherface.
05:52Well, Leatherface wasn't also removable.
05:55So don't try to pry this off.
05:56Somebody said that you could pry this off, but I would think, though, that if you did, there would be nothing really underneath that.
06:02More of a fright than anything else.
06:03It does feel like it's got a little bit of give, but I think the little bit of give is just the lack of glue that's holding this in place.
06:09You can kind of see the way it's rocking back and forth.
06:11I am so tempted, so tempted to peel this off, but I know I would only really regret it.
06:17Could I glue it back in place?
06:18Oh, I feel like I'm going to break it.
06:21I'm going to leave it alone.
06:22I know there probably is something unsettling underneath the mask.
06:27I'm just going to leave it alone.
06:28You can't still see, though, that there's eyes sculpted underneath.
06:31Those are the blackest eyes.
06:33And again, like those eyes look like they're looking down on you.
06:36The eyebrows are at least on here instead of actually just ripping them all off.
06:41The sideburns aren't there at all.
06:42I do actually like that they've added the yellowingness to this as opposed to just making the mask a solid white.
06:48Yes, he does have the bleeding eyes, but the bleeding eyes are blended in with that little bit of yellow.
06:52So it does make it look a little bit more like a kid-friendly costume.
06:56The hair is nicely done there, too.
06:57You got the brown there and a little bit of the yellow accents added there, too.
07:02It really does make this look more like a 70s costume.
07:04Now, again, it loses the illusion clearly.
07:07A Ben Cooper costume, a lot of times, didn't really so much rely on making an actual suit.
07:12I mean, Leatherface did more so of a better job of giving him the kill apron as well as the pants and the shirt.
07:18This time, Michael Myers is literally just sporting himself.
07:21He has a picture of himself walking through the flames, I'm guessing, of the hospital.
07:25I think that's really sculpted well.
07:26Not sculpted well.
07:27I think that's really painted well.
07:29And it's got the Halloween 2 down below.
07:31I mean, there's so many different rules that he's breaking right now.
07:33The fact that, first of all, he's wearing a costume that has his own likeness on it.
07:37And that it's also got the likeness and the movie that he appears in.
07:40Just wrong and wrong, but somehow makes it right.
07:43I do think, though, that the flames add a little bit of color just to an overall all-blue suit.
07:49Whereas at least Leatherface had the yellow on the top.
07:51Of course, it did have the blue down below.
07:53Michael really only really relying on all the blue jumpsuit.
07:56But adding this good burst of color there on the front of the chest not only does make
08:01it look like a Ben Cooper costume from the 80s, but it does bring it, again, a much-needed
08:05bit of color.
08:06I'll tell you the only one thing I really don't like about the figure is the fact that
08:09he has white shoes.
08:10Not that they're...
08:11Well, I guess that they are white.
08:13The sculpting isn't so bad.
08:14I mean, if you're looking at these shoes and you look at the one that we get from Leatherface,
08:18it does seem like they are different shoes.
08:20So they're probably using different molds for those.
08:22I just feel like white is too stark.
08:24It's too bright.
08:25I mean, you already have so much white happening here for the mask.
08:28I feel like having also equally bright white shoes draws almost even more competing attention
08:32away from the mask.
08:34I would have rather just had these shoes completely black.
08:37Black, like doll's eyes.
08:39Doll's eyes.
08:41These just, I feel, are way too bright.
08:43And again, they compete with the mask.
08:45I would have just made them much darker color.
08:46If you weren't going to do a dark black, maybe even a dark gray would have worked really
08:50well as well.
08:51The suit itself is kind of, again, like that, it's not like a vinyl material.
08:56It does have a Velcro on the back.
08:57So, of course, you can open it up if you want.
08:59And you can take this off Michael Myers' body.
09:01I'm only going to take it down just a little bit so you guys can see.
09:04It's just a regular body underneath.
09:05It hasn't had enough time to stain the suit or stain the body underneath.
09:09If you look at actually the inside of this suit, I don't think the likelihood of that
09:13is going to happen anyways.
09:14Because the actual nylon material, I guess it is more of a nylon, is not actually stained
09:20all the way through.
09:21So, even though it looks like they probably have dyed it, the inside of it doesn't actually
09:25look like.
09:26Here's probably a better way to show you.
09:27See, the inside of it is still white.
09:29So, I don't think any of this will end up bleeding onto it.
09:32The blue is only on the exterior of the costume, not on the interior.
09:37There is one thing, though, I do kind of worry about.
09:39Again, the longevity of these.
09:41It's bending like elbows for long periods of time and having these like that over years.
09:45I wonder if that's going to start to develop splitting.
09:47If it doesn't develop splitting, I wonder if the color is going to start to crack around
09:52areas where it's always being bent.
09:54I mean, again, I've only had this figure out of the packaging for probably like two and
09:57a half hours, three hours before I hit the record button.
10:00But, like, I don't think in that amount of time any damage has been done to the suit itself.
10:04Over time, though, I just kind of think to myself, is this something that where the blue...
10:09If you were to say, like, speed through time, jump into your time jumping machine, years
10:15from now, I would think, though, like, you probably would go back to, like, the elbow
10:18area.
10:18So, if, like, if you had your figure out was like this, for example, and you move the
10:22elbow down, I would imagine you would probably start to see, like, white lines right here
10:26where the color would start to crack around where those areas would have bent.
10:30I mean, obviously, again, it hasn't happened yet, and I hope it doesn't either.
10:33For the figure's articulation, again, if you're familiar with the trick-or-treaters from Halloween
10:383, or, again, if you're familiar with the Ben Cooper Leatherface that we've already had
10:41a look at, Michael Myers will be exactly the same.
10:45His head, for example, is going to be on a ball joint, so it allows the head to rotate
10:48all the way around.
10:49It looks down.
10:49It looks up.
10:50It does also back and forth as well.
10:52You can also have it slightly knotted to the side.
10:56And, of course, you can twist it all the way around.
10:58Now, the arms do move forward and back.
11:00They seem really tight on my figure to the point where I don't really want to budge them
11:04too much for the fear that they may crack or break completely off.
11:08The arms do at least bend out.
11:10There's enough, at least, give down below in the armpits that you can pull off a 90-degree
11:15angle bend.
11:16The arms themselves do seem to also have a bicep swivel, double hinge on the elbow, and
11:21the hands rotate all the way around.
11:22This hand, again, isn't so much the issue.
11:24I find every once in a while, though, this hand pops off frequently, maybe a little too frequently
11:30than I would have liked from the ball joint, or from the hole inside the forearm.
11:35Just plug that back in place.
11:37The upper torso is going to be what seems to be on a ball joint, so you can move that
11:40around.
11:40There is no waist swivel, and I don't think it necessarily needs it either.
11:44Legs split out.
11:45You can take them moving forward.
11:47You can move them back.
11:48You can swivel at the top of the thigh, of course, as well.
11:51Single hinge only for the knee.
11:53And then, again, if we roll up the pant leg here, there's a hinge back and forth on the
11:57foot and a rock back and forth this way as well.
12:00Does it, would it be like, I would hate to say this, like Ben Tramer.
12:04Ben Tramer, other than just really wearing the mask, didn't it all look like Michael
12:07Myers?
12:08Would, like, Loomis at all chase this guy across the street and this guy get hit just
12:12because he resembled Michael Myers?
12:13I think this would be having a harder time resembling the shape.
12:17Sure, he resembles the shape in the mask, but, like, everything else gets lost from,
12:21like, the, from the head down.
12:22I mean, clearly, Michael Myers, I don't think, would ever really wear a jumpsuit that actually
12:26has his own image on it.
12:27I mean, there's no way he could blend amongst the shadows if he's clearly walking around
12:31advertising exactly who he is.
12:33He also probably wouldn't even have the name of the movie that he appears in either.
12:36That just seems so strange.
12:38But, again, like, if you really want to have these guys displayed out on Halloween or,
12:41hey, why not, all year round?
12:43They blend perfectly in well with the trick-or-treaters that we've already had a look at.
12:47We'll just, again, bring these guys back all in.
12:49And, again, like, if you want to also bring back in the other Ben Cooper figure.
12:55You know, again, this is something I said when we did look at the Leatherface.
12:58This is a, this is a new thing for me to really start getting into collecting.
13:02I mean, up to this point, like, we're into Series 9, so I'm really behind on looking at these.
13:06But I can understand, certainly, why people really liked collecting the Ben Cooper figures.
13:10I, as a kid, had a Ben Cooper He-Man figure, a He-Man costume that I did mention in the review
13:15of Leatherface, I mean, I already know Ben Cooper well enough, I recognize the costumes,
13:20I recognize the designs, like, he has a very unique design to it.
13:23And even though, like, Michael Myers, nor Leatherface, for that matter,
13:26ever really appeared in the original Ben Cooper costumes,
13:29I'm glad that NECA has carried on the torch and made designs of their own
13:33that could still seemingly believe, you could believe,
13:36that they would have existed back in the time that you were first wearing them as kids.
13:40It's kind of funny that I'm looking at the Ben Cooper-Michael Myers second after Leatherface.
13:43But really, though, Michael Myers was the reason why I even bought these in the first place.
13:47I had kind of just looked at listings of these, and it's not that I haven't seen them,
13:51but I've only seen them really ever online.
13:53The prices generally were sold as sets, so you wouldn't really necessarily be
13:58seeking out one individual Ben Cooper kid.
14:01You'd generally, though, be buying the five or the six that were part of the set.
14:04And usually, for me at least, the set would set me back anywhere from $129 to about $149
14:10for the complete set.
14:11I happened just to go on to a site, and they were selling them individually.
14:15And I'm not to say that other sites don't do this,
14:18but just with the idea and the interest in only getting the Michael Myers,
14:21I ventured just to buy him and him alone.
14:24And while, sure enough, though, I looked him up,
14:26sure enough, really, next to him was also the littlest thing there for Leatherface.
14:31Well, sure enough, before I knew it, I added both of them to the cart.
14:33And even though, again, like I looked at Leatherface first,
14:36Michael Myers really, again, was the reasoning why I wanted these.
14:39Michael Myers, again, looks ridiculous as a killer.
14:42But as a kid dressed as a killer, which seems so wrong to say,
14:46he looks perfect as a Michael.
14:48Yes, he does.
14:49He loses some of that of being just wearing his boiler.
14:51There's jumpsuit they generally would have wore walking the streets of Haddonfield.
14:55But what he gains instead, though,
14:57is the charm that would have made the Ben Cooper cautions the fun thing in the first place.
15:01Back then, kids didn't mind so much that you had literally the image of the character
15:05that you were wearing as your suit.
15:06I mean, back then, you wouldn't go up to a kid and say,
15:09I don't think that Batman would wear a suit that actually said Batman on the front of it.
15:14Maybe they did, but they were just jerk kids anyways.
15:16Now you can look back on this,
15:18and even like the designs generally that Ben Cooper did back in the 50s to the 80s,
15:23you can look back at that now and just think of it as nostalgia.
15:26And that's the thing that kind of makes me feel that again while I'm collecting these characters,
15:30is the nostalgia that goes with it.
15:32And having Michael Myers so absurdly being printed on the front of his outfit,
15:36and on top of that, on top of that, he's got Halloween 2 just below that.
15:41It's just that right kind of good thing that goes along with Ben Cooper's designs.
15:45The mask also looks fitting enough.
15:47It obviously doesn't fit around the character's head completely.
15:50It's all just a vac plastic molded mask
15:53that really only would have attached by an elastic strap on the back.
15:57Pray that your elastic strap never broke.
15:59I know with my He-Man, it broke a couple of times,
16:01and my poor mother had to then put in a couple of new holes on the sides of the mask
16:06and feed through.
16:08I think she had a red elastic.
16:10Now that I'm really remembering it.
16:11No, she actually, no, she used a string.
16:14She used a string because the elastic initially broke
16:16before I had the chance to wear it out for trick-or-treating.
16:19That's the big mistake I made by wearing it to school in the first place.
16:23All in all, though, I really like the look of Michael Myers.
16:25Is he ridiculous?
16:26Yes.
16:26Does he look at all like the shape from the movies?
16:29No, but he doesn't need to either.
16:31None of the Ben Cooper figures, for the most part,
16:33have to really look like their killer counterparts.
16:36Leatherface did the better job of doing that,
16:38but Michael has the color, and that's the thing I like the most.
16:41The one thing, though, in color I wish that they could have changed
16:44is the bright white shoes.
16:46The white sneakers just doesn't work for me.
16:48It just doesn't cut it.
16:49I would have rather, though, that the shoes be either a gray or a black,
16:53something not to draw attention away from his white mask.
16:56The white mask, really, I think it should be the only thing that's white on the entire figure's body.
17:01What do you guys think of the Ben Cooper kids?
17:03This is the Wave 9 Michael Myers.
17:05Have you already picked up this one for yourself,
17:07or is this one definitely that's going to be on your list?
17:09If you guys did enjoy this video, you can do it as a sol and throw it a like.
17:13You guys want to stick around for more so?
17:14Yeah, I hope so.
17:16This isn't by...
17:16I keep saying this.
17:17This isn't the end, by the way, of Spottober.
17:20We've got plenty more spooky videos coming your way,
17:22so I hope you guys are going to be coming back for that.
17:24In the meantime, though, if you haven't already,
17:27hit the subscribe button down below.
17:29Wander very closely to that eerie-looking cemetery over there.
17:32That's where the bell notification is going to be.
17:34I don't know why it's over there.
17:35Maybe it's telling us that eventually they're going to bury the idea of a bell notification
17:39and just move to more sensible ideas of a subscribe button alone.
17:43But make sure you turn on the bell so you're going to get those reminders
17:46every single time a new video pops up over on the Spottober channel.
17:51Actually, it's just the ReviewSpot channel.
17:52But during the month of Spottober, it's a little bit spooky more.
17:56There's going to be a lot more videos coming your way, guys.
17:57So as always, thanks for watching.
17:59See you guys next time.
