00:00Gasper, did the Sox take a step forward this year?
00:02And if they did, what singular individual was most responsible?
00:06Yes, they did take a step forward this year.
00:08You have to give them credit for that, getting back to the playoffs,
00:11being a competitive team.
00:12I mean, they did still finish in third place in the American League East.
00:15I don't think we should lose sight of that.
00:17But they were back in the playoffs.
00:19And I'm heartened to find that my propaganda has worked on Murray with Cora.
00:25To me, it's clear it's Cora.
00:27He maximized this team.
00:28It's interesting.
00:28I had a doctor's appointment.
00:30I was listening to you guys on the way back.
00:32And some of the stuff that went wrong in this series,
00:34and you're dissecting it as you should.
00:36But zoom out, 30,000-foot view.
00:38Some of the names you're talking about of guys.
00:41Nate Eaton didn't do this.
00:43Nate Lowe didn't do this.
00:45Romy Gonzalez was one for nine.
00:46Romy Gonzalez batted cleanup the first two games of the series.
00:50Nick Sogard should have been in the lineup.
00:53Do you realize the names of guys were talking?
00:55If you had been mentioning those names in spring training,
00:58if a caller had called up and mentioned any of those names,
01:01you guys would have laughed them off the air back in spring training in February.
01:05So to me, it's clearly Cora.
01:07He maximized this roster.
01:08And I think you saw the limitations of this roster in this series,
01:13particularly in game three, in terms of, you talked about it,
01:17Romy Gonzalez.
01:18He's had an amazing year, but he's not the rangiest second baseman.
01:22I think there were some ranger second baseman that would have gotten to the ground ball,
01:26and I think also would have been able to get out to the outfield fast enough to make that play that Raffaella couldn't.
01:31You know, Nate Lowe was a great find off the scrap heap,
01:33and he's traditionally been a good defensive first baseman.
01:36That was a tough hop there.
01:37But again, you know, when I look at this overall,
01:41Maz, I have to strongly disagree with you when you said Breslow.
01:44He had a good year.
01:46A lot of things went right for him, and he does deserve some credit.
01:49But when I look at it, I mean, he really did the bare minimum for this to be a playoff team.
01:54The bare minimum.
01:55I mean, what did they do at the trade deadline?
01:58To address something that a lot of us were aware of, which was like,
02:02there needs to be another pitcher between Crochet and Baio and Giolito.
02:07That wasn't addressed.
02:08As I just said, Nate Lowe sort of fell in their lap.
02:11Where did they reinvest the money they saved from Devers and the team this year?
02:14How many pitches did Kyle Harrison, who was on the playoff roster,
02:17how many pitches did Kyle Harrison throw in this series against the Yankees?
02:21Zero.
02:22Yeah, as many as you and I did.
02:24What about Jordan Hicks?
02:25He also was watching on television, just like the rest of us.
02:28That's not to say that the deal's not going to work out in the long run.
02:32It could.
02:33It absolutely could.
02:34I like some of what I saw from Harrison.
02:36And I'll let you answer, Matt.
02:37I'm just saying, for this year, I'm not really sure how you could put Breslow over Cora.
