00:00So we joined John in the quest to work out how you fit a piece of cake and a brew on
00:06this lovely little table. How you doing John? You alright? Not too bad. So we're here at Old Mill
00:11Antiques in Bridge North and talk us through this little table. It's a cute little thing. I don't
00:16think I've ever seen such an elegant small little table. Well generally speaking in the antique
00:22thread everybody refers to tiny little pieces of furniture like this as apprentice pieces.
00:28Ah okay. The reality of it is that they weren't really for that. They were made for furniture
00:35shops. Because before the days of the big box retailer when you've got a little furniture shop
00:41you couldn't have great big pieces of furniture in it. So they used to make miniature pieces of
00:45furniture to show to people. Ah so you could literally say I want one of these but I want it
00:51three foot, four foot wide. I wanted to see six people. Yeah. So as a result. And they used to make
00:57tiny little models of everything. So as a result there won't be many of them about will there then?
01:02Because they've been making a very limited. And because people bought them or later on they
01:09finished up in houses as adult house furniture and kiddies tea parties and things. Yeah. Like this one
01:15has got a few little repairs on it. Yeah. Which is very normal for something of that delicate
01:22nature. Do we know when it would have been made roughly? Well this is in the style of an early
01:28Victorian or Regency wine table. Okay. So you're probably talking somewhere in the early 1800s.
01:35So literally, so that in a slightly larger scale would have been a glass of wine, decanter, that kind
01:42of thing sitting on there. Exactly what you would expect to see. Very cool. So it would make a lovely
01:46um, lovely little, lovely little kind of plant stand or something now, wouldn't it? Like a table on top
01:52of a table just to give that layered effect that you can let a lot of people go for now. Yeah. Cool.
01:57What's it on for then John? What's it going to set people back? It's a bargain because there's a couple of
02:02little repairs on it. We've got it priced up at £85. Cool. Get yourselves down guys and see if you can
02:08solve the um, the cake and brew riddle. Exactly.
