A shocking murder case has emerged from Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, where a young man killed his girlfriend by drowning her in a drum filled with water and left her body in his rented house at Vaishali Avenue Colony.
On September 29, the victim, identified as Lakshita Chaudhary (19), left home saying she was going to college but never returned. Her family lodged a missing complaint, and during the probe it was revealed that she was in a relationship with Monu alias Manoj Chauhan (33).
Police said the accused initially tried to mislead the girl’s family, but on Wednesday afternoon he shockingly sent them a message confessing to the murder and revealing that the body was in his room.
When police broke into the house, they found Lakshita’s decomposed body wrapped in a bedsheet near a water drum. Disturbingly, she was still dressed in a Garba costume with her hands and legs tied.
Later in the evening, Monu Chauhan surrendered at the City Police Station. He reportedly told investigators that he loved Lakshita but killed her in anger after learning she was in contact with another person.
The body has been sent to Indore for post-mortem, while police have begun a detailed investigation into the case.
